I seem to be having problems with ANY edited boot.img? Is there much changed in the boot.img for official magic sense ui?
Reason im asking is i can flash cyan roms,nko2 roms etc but if i try and based on sense ui it gives me a write_raw_image:BOOT error
ok if i fastboot boot boot.img it loads to the HAMI boot screen but just loops?

well there is a good reason to release a hero kernel there should be a difference!

So not only hero builds
The problem is the BFS Boot.img whenever i try a rom with this it fails. If i use an old boot.img from a superlight hero rom it works fine?
what are is the logcat when it loops at the hami screen??
no booting image anymore, ive managed to boot and use magicuni official sense ui with the boot.img from superlight sapphire hero rom but wifi wont work
take the wlan.ko from /system/lib/modules/ folder in the superlight sapphire hero and place it in your magic uni build in /system/lib/modules/
wifi should work
wlan.ko goes with boot.img to make wifi work
so if you just changed the boot.img in uni build your wifi wont work becuase the wrong wlan.ko is there
if that doesnt make sense ill just repackage the whole thing and put it in update.zip format for you to flash over any rom in order to use it on your phone
Thanks zarboz Its ok i realised i need the wlan.ko when i was at work so fixed it using their computer i wouldnt mind the 107meg ram hack in the dwang donut rom though working for sense on my phone?

idk i thnk the only boot.img's floating around for 32b with the ram hack are BFS patched wich are the boot.img's your having an issue with right?
that is correct looks like ill just have to use the standard launcher instead of sense and use some widget goodness
Now using reignzone with the same boot.img as before and rosie does not keep restarting on me no matter what i do!
So I rooted my evo and have 2.2 . I'm trying to get the EnamoRED 2.2 theme to work and I keep going into loops with the sprint load logo. I'm doing the wipes but maybe I am doing it wrong.. idk what im doing wrong really but something is not right. Is there a thread or video than can explain this step by step ? Iv been at this for hours and I just don't know what to do anymore
Have you flashed any roms since you rooted? Also, you shouldn't have to wipe before flashing a theme.

Nope I have not flashed any roms since I have rooted. Right now im rooted and I have the EnamoRED 2.2 zip on my sd root. My question is now what ? If i leave the PC36IMG file in the sd will it not work ? I worried about deleting it because updating it is what has saved me from the loops I think.
You have to flash a 2.2 rom first man. The files in 2.2 themes are different and laid out differently than in 2.1. If you're fresh from flahsing, I'm guessing you're still 2.1, and that's why it's messing you up.
nono I misunderstood him yes I did flash the 2.2 and it gave the the SU app so I am past that stage. That is what gives me the 2.2 rooted

Then it sounds like you need to be on a de-odexed rom.
This is the stock rooted de-odexed rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743781
EDIT: You don't have to use that specific rom. You can use any rom that is de-odexed. I just picked that one since it is complete stock.
then will i be able to just use rom manager to add the theme i want ?
also under wipe in recovery do I have to wipe everything ? our just the first 3 things
Hopefully this can help someone who is starting their own ROM.
I have taken the KD1 files for the Sidekick 4G, deodexed them, and zipaligned them, as well as adding root.
All bloatware .apk's are still in the ROM, remove them as you see fit.
*I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WILL FLASH CORRECTLY WHEN/IF CWM RECOVERY IS RELEASED, TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK*

im getting this phone this week and i see u deodexed the rom already and with root but if we dont have revcovey how do i backup and flash this and do u know if anyone working on recovery ? is it worth it
This is in preparation for a working CWM, so that we can get started right away.
Thanks, this looks promising, we'll see if it works when CWM is released.
There are 2 different Devs working on CWM for us, Jollette and Krylon360. Both are very talented, well known devs.

The point of this is just to provide deodexed files to users wanting to create their own ROMs and play around with their devices. If you want to attempt to flash without CWM, you could just re-compile the files to a .rfs, then .tar it and attempt to flash via Odin using the .pit file found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=605708&d=1306221776
Thanks troby. Things are slowly starting to pick up for the overlooked sk4g

Now that CWM is out...
Anyone try this? Might be Faster
I'm downloading now to see

I tried it but it wouldn't flash. It's using amend scripting which are out-dated in CWM 3 and needs to be using edify scripting.
i should have 2 ROMs out by tonight.
Deodexed Stock.
and a Custom ROM debloated rooted and deodexed, its really fast and light. Just finishing up on the theme i think most of you guys will like it.
.. Just a heads up
Also for this ROM, its not deodexed correctly, a few days ago when i first had CWM working i replaced the script with an edify one and it flashed, but after boot animations i got a black screen and the 3 vibration (force closes). at that point, i had to Odin to stock cause i couldnt reflash CWM since this ROM doesnt have the modded recovery to allow the update.zip to flash . Just a heads up.

I've made an Odin flashable KC1 ROM with CWM already built in. It even boots up to CWM right after flashing to speed up your recovery! Now you can flash your favorite ROM and restore your nandroid backup and be ready to go!
FEATURES
Stock deodexed KC1 ROM (Whitehawkx)
* Root
* Busybox
* Quickboot
Bali 3.3 UV
* Voodoo lagfix enabled by default
* CWM recovery
NOTES
1) CWM will try to enable the Voodoo lagfix since it's the default option, so the first boot might take longer than you want it to if you wind up booting into the phone at all.
2) I noticed a glitch in the boot startup animation. It flashed back and forth between the T-Mobile pink bootup animation and the default Android boot animation.
3) This WILL delete all your data, so make a backup to your SD card, then back up your SD card to your PC.
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Download the file to your Windows PC
2) Extract the 7-Zip file using a compatible program, such as 7-Zip
3) Load up the file in Odin
4) Flash
5) Success!

Yup, just look for a ROM that's for Odin and is stock, preferably not deodexed if you're gonna send in your phone for warranty, etc.
What version is KC1?
Kc1 froyo, you mean?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
yeah it's kc1 froyo just with recovery added. Put's you to recovery just after you Odin it. Nice to have. And as always thanks to the op.
@FB
Flashed this and booted into Red CWM but when I try to flash a ROM I get a cache error. I cannot flash anything in CWM. I cannot mount my cache in storage and mounts. Any ideas?
I'm on Audiophile Bump in Trunk and had no problems using CWM while running on it.
Thank you
Ah, I think I know what happened. I updated the ROM to a different version. I'll have a link up soon to the old, working version.

Thank you Raver for the tip of removing the boot animation :O)
Excellent rom !!! Thank you so much for creating this easy to use rooted and dedoxed rom :O) It has become the base rom I Odin whenever I want to test new rom on my phone. It also allow me to push hebrew to the phone (Only after installing another rom on top of that like Redux 1.3.X), And It deals automatically with some EXT4 mixed partitions I created from other roms which got messy prior to this rom. You have done a GREAT service to our community by creating this rom. Job AMAZINGLY DONE !

I been looking for the 2.3.6 ruu for this phone trying to help a friend dev. does anybody have it laying around no matter if it's deodexed or rooted or anything just want an ruu. or a link.
I have see the cwm files for 2.3.6 but I'm looking for the [RUU]
Check out this thread and scroll down to "how to flash a fxz." Download the fxz from one of the links and follow the instructions to flash it. We only have an fxz for 2.3.5 so after you flash you will want to either update or restore the 2.3.6 deodexed backup.

ok so fxz is what I have to work with got it. so you basically have to update to 2.3.6 and then develop from there? Cus I'm looking to build him a rom but have nothing to work with and all I can find is nandriods which aren't much help but I guess I can take the stock system image and make something for him thanks man.

If you're developing a ROM then copy+paste the contents of /system from the 2.3.6 deodexed backup into a working directory where you can make a flashable zip to flash in CWM. The hardware buttons most likely won't work; you'll have to symlink a couple files in /system/usr/keychars/ and /system/usr/keylayout.

Yes. Check out the development section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1376
We can't boot into CWM by selecting "Recovery" at the boot menu because our bootloader is locked. We have a "bootstrapper" that allows us to reboot into CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346977
