[Q] 2.3.6 ruu? - Motorola Atrix 2

I been looking for the 2.3.6 ruu for this phone trying to help a friend dev. does anybody have it laying around no matter if it's deodexed or rooted or anything just want an ruu. or a link.
I have see the cwm files for 2.3.6 but I'm looking for the [RUU]

Check out this thread and scroll down to "how to flash a fxz." Download the fxz from one of the links and follow the instructions to flash it. We only have an fxz for 2.3.5 so after you flash you will want to either update or restore the 2.3.6 deodexed backup.

ok so fxz is what I have to work with got it. so you basically have to update to 2.3.6 and then develop from there? Cus I'm looking to build him a rom but have nothing to work with and all I can find is nandriods which aren't much help but I guess I can take the stock system image and make something for him thanks man.

If you're developing a ROM then copy+paste the contents of /system from the 2.3.6 deodexed backup into a working directory where you can make a flashable zip to flash in CWM. The hardware buttons most likely won't work; you'll have to symlink a couple files in /system/usr/keychars/ and /system/usr/keylayout.

Yes. Check out the development section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1376
We can't boot into CWM by selecting "Recovery" at the boot menu because our bootloader is locked. We have a "bootstrapper" that allows us to reboot into CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346977

Flashable .zip - You can flash this alternatively Flashable DK28.zip after wiping you phone and flash any DK28 Rom you wish instead of the steps below
Make a nandroid and wipe data/cache 3 times and flash the stock rom and reboot
reboot, go back into clockwork and flash the update.zip for 2.2.1
All you gotta do is flash. I havent tested it myself[in the process] but just wanted to share the info with other who dont trust odin
I take no credit but all goes to noobnl and Firon for the flashable modem
*EDIT*
Confirmed that this method worked..will post a pic later

This does work for the ROM itself, if you want to use the OTA. (The modem, probably not.) Good reminder, that thread's buried.
You can also use this if you like.

I knew it was a stock DI18 rom out there from the early days of using OTA's to update...just went to the Wiki to find it.
Good looks on you guys ROM
You MUST Odin to DI18 modem to update your modem successfully. Alternatively, use Odin to flash the DK28 modem.
There is no update.zip that can flash you back to DI18 modem!

My current Baseband version is S700.0.5S.DI18 - so I assume that means I wouldn't need to sue Odin to revert the modem back? I could just apply these .zips and then apply today's OTA afterwards?
Thanks guys!

Thanks for posting this - I'm downloading the stock.epic.DI18.rom.update.zip right now. You guys rock!
Awesome, thanks Zei for this. I was looking for a way to avoid Odin. Three quick questions:
1 - I'm on DI18 (baseband S700.0.5S.DI18), but not quite stock - I have the deodexed DI18 installed, but no custom ROM). Will this method work for me?
2 - In your link for the stock DI18 ROM in the first post, I'm assuming you're talking about downloading the first file in the linked thread (there are 4 downloadable files in the first post in the linked thread)
3 - What's the best way to restore data after this process - I've made many nandroid backups but never had to restore - can I do a custom nandroid restore and restore just user app data? Should I do a Titanium backup/restore for data?
I wouldn't restore data from Eclair to Froyo... likely will lead to endless force closes and errors.

1. Id flash the stock rom for just in case purposes. No need todo any extra work for no reason
2. Yes, the 1st link is the correct link
3. TBH, I wouldnt recommend a nandroid data restore for this. Seeing as this is a brand spanking new rom I wouldnt risk it then have to start the process over again. Titainium Backup is the safest way togo for now
Thanks to all the Devs who worked on this.
DOes anyone know how to access the TV out function? Or if it is available in this release?
I am up and running after using this version. Seems almost too good to be true so far! Thanks again you guys.

ICS Leak Nandroid Rooted Deodexed NO ODIN

Update: mhx has posted a debloated backup here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569798
I reccomend it unless you have a need for all the extra bloat!
This is a nandroid backup of the ICS leak. It has been rooted and deodexed (thanks romracer) and has the Apex launcher added. I have tried restoring this from GB with success. I flashed the ODIN oneclick and then rooted/deodexed the rom. I am not responsible if your brick/break your phone, etc, etc.
1)Download the rar of the backup here: http://d-h.st/zpc and Darkside SuperWipe here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477955
2)On your SD card extract the backup to \clockworkmod\backup\
After extracting you should have a new folder(the backup) that looks like this
\clockworkmod\backup\2012-03-28.00.50.20\
3)Copy the darkside superwipe zip to your sdcard root.
4)Boot into CWM, install the DarkSide Superwipe ZIP
5)Restore Backup - don't reboot yet
6)Factory reset and wipe Dalvik-Cache
7)Reboot!
8)You may or may not see "Android is upgrading... optimizing application xxx of 173". Just let it boot. When it's finished it should go to the lockscreen and then you're done
Update:
This is confirmed to work as a way to go from GB to ICS, thanks hansmrtn!
This will not affect your baseband version (no modem change)
Update 2:
DON'T RESTORE FROM TITANIUM BACKUP. IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS
Reset APN's to default once you're up and running. This should restore the AT&T pta apn (for LTE).
Power off and Reboot just hang, as a workaround use QuickBoot (Free) http://market.android.com/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot
Alternate Mirror (two parts - you need both parts!):
Part 1:http://www.mediafire.com/?honpcn7c3j74js1
Part 2:http://www.mediafire.com/?91ixl75cb7wrcbc
I'm not daring enough to try this from GB....someone please
Ill try it out. Downloading now.

Some people are already on the ics because they used Odin...I don't have a PC to use, so I'm stuck on GB until someone gets a CWM flash to work

well now you won't have much trouble guys. i went from gb to ics and yeah had little trouble but when i followed these steps from my boyz here it worked.
1. wipe factory,cache,dalvik,battery
2. flash darkside superwipe script zip
3. install rom if its either from here or t989
4. then push superuser if not there then thats it.
5. let it boot and you're set and let it settle for 10-20 mins and it'll be flying done & done.
Just finished flashing back to GB, about to flash CWM and try restore. Hansmrtn may beat me to it. Interesting, I don't know if this matters but baseband didn't restore when flashing back.
Will running it deodexed vs stock make a difference in menu lag and stuff like that?

{ROM}{STOCK}{ICS} Rogers Official UXLF3 - UNTOUCHED - CWM5 flashable

This is the Stock Official ROGERS/Samsung Released Firmware for the SGH-I727R (Skyrocket) based on Android Platform 4.0.4 aka ICS. It is targeted for:
* Anyone who wants to be on the stock release, doesn't want to use ODIN.
* Wants to build a custom rom, and needs an official base. (see post #2)...
* Or, you just want a baseline.
PACKAGING

Well it is Stock, untouched, except for the deodexing and zipaligned. Your kernel and radios will be updated as in the official update. The only thing I have left out is the recovery, and I can provide a flashable one later, if you really really want to be stock for any future OTA update. See the optional flash if you need busybox and su.
- DeOdexed as per my stringent process, no using Kitchen or any other nonsense. Every apk get's what it needs in the classpath.
- zipaligned.
- all ownsership and permissions exactly as in stock install.
- Untouched UXLF5 boot image (i.e kernel + ramdisk).
- Your radio/modem will be updated to UXLF3.
- [OPTIONAL] If you want to flash busybox/su see the ADD-ONS. This will effectively root your install.
- [OPTIONAL] If you want the modified boot.img that enables init.d scripts, bootanimation, insecure boot, then flash the boot.img listed in the add-ons
INSTALLATION

Pretty straight forward. The only requirement is you need CWM 5 and above (I have tested with the touch recovery). NOTE: THIS WILL WIPE DATA.
1) Backup, Nandroid preferred.
2) Download and Copy the ROM to your device. (Please make sure you check the MD5SUM, the dowload link has the correct one).
3) Copy any additional add-ons you want to your devices, internal or external sdcard.
4a) Boot into CWM recovery (remember that is the requirement).
4b) In your recovery format /system (in touch recovery it is under: "mounts and storage)
4c) wipe data and cache partition
5) Flash the ROM.
6) [OPTIONAL] If you want busybox and su (binaries only). This will ROOT your phone. Flash it now.
7) [OPTIONAL] If you WANT the modified boot.img (modified ramdisk + stock kernel) flash that.
8) [OPTIONAL] If you want to flash a *different* radio, flash it now.
9) reboot

remember i was talking to u about rooting a short while ago so i could post a tutorial, its done and they made it a sticky.
one question, is there a way to unroot without flashing stock
edit: im guessing that there is no stock recovery in this rom, making it a stockish firmware
edit: i answered my own question about unrooting, just delete su from /bin and /xbin directories

Yup just deleting the binaries is enough to "unroot". I may update the op with the revert script (busybox and su) and the respective stock recovery, when i get chance..

Hi mohan,
Is there any way you could do the same for Rogers GB? It would be a great help for me. As ICS is crap I get RR and freezes. It doesn't get the right time zones and etc.
Incredible rom! Just had my skyrocket for 2 weeks, flashed 5-6 jb roms, vincoms the best imo, seanscreamz close behind.
I thought I'd come back to stock for a couple reasons. One, to get a baseline and see how good stock Rogers ics is battery wise, two, I can't seem to get nfc figured out and want to see if stock will do it. A co-worker has a stock ics sgs3, we can transfer apps, web addresses etc., but where he transferred a feature film to a different co-worker with a stock Rogers ics sgs3, via nfc in about 30 seconds, it fails with my skyrocket. I notice that their phones have sbeam in addition to nfc and android beam, maybe that's the difference. But I was wondering if there's issues transferring between ics and jb?
Thanks!

Sorry to double post but I thought this would be as good a place as any to post this. Went in to Rogers today to get my lte SIM card, to my surprise they didn't even charge me! I can't believe these speeds the screen shot shows the speed is double my Wi-Fi speeds at home! And look at the comparison to the 3g or H+ too, that's just sad. I'm expecting to pay for it battery wise but I can live with that for these speeds!

Ah, Ok. If you're rooted, get SGS Kernel Flasher from the play store, it's free. Then, use it to flash AntonX's 1.1.3 kernel, from the dev section. After you do that, flash to CM7, THEN flash AOKP.
Or, you can wait till FB releases the next update, which is supposed to fix the BML>MTD conversion. But, I don't know when that will be.
Edit: Make sure you read the instructions for both the ROMs carefully, before you flash them! It can save your device a lot of trouble!

I did the kernel after i went to recovery and tried to install AOKP and it said installation aborted..
Make sure you follow the directions to flash in the AOKP thread. I read flashing from BML works. Try again follow the directions in the thread.

What's BML? Link Please ? The tread says flash using CMW but it didn't work..
Does it have to do with it being on 2.3.4 & build number says GINGERBREAD.VUVKG4?
Make sure your recovery says CMW 5.xx.xx (x's being numbers) I think the recovery in gremlin remover is the old CWM 3.xx.xx.
Also If you installed antonx's kernel reboot the phone and try again. I have flashed from stock with root to aokp several times the past few days.

My CMW is Blue if that matters and it says CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.8 . If its not the updated CWM how do i update it?
Make sure you have the most recent version of aokp I believe it is .v3 now. That is the only version that can be flashed straight from stock based roms.

Don't think you can flash those files, but you should be able to go back to stock.

Follow these instructions. I would use the zip that takes you back to stock with root.
Keep one thing in mind.....you CANNOT go from Froyo to JB.

I keep this thread bookmarked. I have soft bricked my phone so many times, it's not funny!!!

Lack of reading/research caused your error :/
Anyways go back to stock with heimdall.or Odin, get red cwm again and you should be able to restore your backups
If you want to go to jb in the future....then you must first follow go to ics, then jb...you have to have ics before you can flash gb

thanks again to all the comments, yes this was a big Noob mistake, i guess i was just way to excited to jump on the JB wagon. i have since returned to stock froyo using one of the kernals from this site (Stock_Root-Mod3e-UCKD5_Odin), so this is what i have now... although a little phased i still want to give this a second attemp. the rom i wanted to flash was [ROM][JellyBean] CNA 3.5.0 / Nightly 9/20 for Samsung Infuse [PORT]....
just to get things straight so i don't mess up again, i have to flash froyo with ics (is there a specific ics version i should get? on a how to guide on flashing jb i found this info: Entropy512's CM9 Kernel / Blue CWM Recovery 2012.05.02-ODIN-Entropy-CM9-zImage.rar) can i use this one, i prefer odin b/c i've never used heimdall. then after i flash ics then i can flash to jb.... but reading some threads i saw that....
"Currently on stock Froyo:
1) Use Heimdall or Odin to flash stock UCLB3 (GB)
*Reccomendation: Also flash GB bootloaders. See first post for links and warnings.*
2) Flash Entropy's DD kernel to obtain root and red CWM recovery.
Currently on stock GB:
1) Flash Entropy's DD kernel to obtain root and red CWM recovery."
do i have to do this step or can i go forward with the current Stock_Root-Mod3e-UCKD5_Odin that i now have installed....?
secondly, after i install ics, right before i flash jb it states i have to do an aroma prep....then flash jb.....
all flashes are done with clockworkmod and i wipe only cache and dalvik? or is there anything else i have to wipe?
sorry for all the questions, i have read and researched many threads but they are all pretty overwhelmingly full of lots of info.....just wanna get it in order....
thanks again
from froyo to ics i use odin, from odin to jb i use cwm, correct?

Follow all steps, don't skip a thing. As for wiping, wipe Cache, Data, Dalvik, and format /System when going from GB to ICS and ICS to JB. That UCLB3 file is Gingerbread stock and you have to go to gingerbread before you go to ICS.
Also, if you are confident that your phone won't get disconnected from Odin while flashing the UCLB3 file, flash the GB bootloaders while you're at it. If the flash fails while flashing bootloaders then your device is bricked so be sure about Odin before you flash them.

Since you have already used Odin, I would use option "C". The best thing you can do is read everything two or three times. There are also many vids on YouTube that are helpful.
Once you are on GB.....just pick out any ICS ROM an flash it. Once it installs, I wouldn't even bother sitting it up and then you can go to JB.
Th3Bill uses an Aroma installer in his ROMs and the first time you use it, you will have to flash his aroma-prep first.
Hang in there....go slowly...and read. This gets easier and easier the more you do it. I always just d/l the zips to my phone and never even have to mess with the PC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523
Edit: All of his ROMs for the Infuse can be found and d/l at Jokersax.com
Edit: I just reread your post......once you are on GB, you won't use Odin again. You will use whatever ICS zip to flash your ROM using CWM. Same thing with JB.

okay i think i understand....never has my phone disconnected during a flash with odin, ive always gotten a straight pass...exactly how important are the bootloaders anyways? if failures happen b/c of faulty usb cords, then im good...if bricking happens b/c of "unlucky chance" then id rather avoid it.... either way ill start the whole process tonight after i put the kiddos away so i can concentrate 100%.
thanks again for the tips

wish me luck!
Bootloaders prevent Rainbow fault I guess you could call it in ICS. You don't have to flash them but its recommended. If you have any problems, post and you'll get help pretty quick.

so far so good, it seems i need to do the gb bootloader after all...got the rainbow screen....i have my gbbootloader file ready to go....only thing is i want to confirm where i put the file, i've searched and i can only find a procedure for heimdall not odin...do i put the md5 file in PDA or bootloaders?? also it says in heimdall to tick bootloaders, do i do the same in odin??? it also says to flash twice....?? ok im really not risking a hard brick, i'll be patient and wait
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878458
i'll wait for your answer before i proceed....after this i'll continue to flash ics and then jb...
btw, am i supposed to flash ics twice?? that's what the [GUIDE] How To Flash JB says,
"9. Flash ICS Rom, then ICS Gapps"
but when i tried to flash ics a second time i couldn't (because of rainbow screen, and because it didn't show up in my directory....and where does ICS Gapps show up?
thanks again
If you downloaded the bootloaders linked in the guide, then yes, they go on the pda slot. You only have to flash once.
Heimdall-one click is the one you must flash once before it allows you to flash the bootloaders too.
Edit: to fully install ics you must flash twice, because I believe that what it does when coming from GB is that it just flashes the ics kernel on the first flash, requiring you to run it a second time after rebooting for it to install the complete rom.
Ics gapps are often linked in the rom OPs, although you don't need to flash them if you are headed to JB.

That's odd, I flashed GB bootloaders in Odin from a rooted stock GB. But andros is right about going in the PDA slot. Maybe its just me that didn't have to flash with heimdall first.

Shawn what I meant is that heimdall one-click wont allow you to flash bootloaders the 1st time, so you must run it once and then a 2nd time but with "flash bootloaders" ticked on.
There's no need to use heimdall before flashing them with Odin.

Alright guys, I'm officially a jelly beaner!! Thanks again to all who replied and helped me out, couldn't have done it without your help everything seems to we working fine (with the exception of a few apps that aren't compatible, but they weren't that important ) only issue I have now is that I can't use my data plan and surf the web I configured everything just as I had it before according to my carrier and nothing ...... could it have something to do with the change in modem? When I scan for available network operators I get two options one says :NICMS and the other is just a number 71021... any ideas?
Also, when installing jb in the initial setup it asked which would be the defualt location to save I think I chose the sdcard instead of the emmc directory. ..can I change that setting?
I'm pretty sure you can change the setting, but not sure how. Also, your APNs might be messed up. There's a thread with working APNs. One sec and I'll link it.
