[Q] Exchange on Serendipity VII - Samsung Infuse 4G

I am running Serendipity VII and Hellraiser on my Infuse 4G. Love it!!!!
That said, I have tried a few ROMS and every one that runs 2.3.3 causes me major headaches trying to sync to my OWA server for work emails. It claims authentication failed which I KNOW is crap.
I used the mail client in 2.2.1 (Froyo) and everything worked perfectly. What gives?
For the interim I have downloaded and am using RoadSync, which is nice, but I would rather run the stock email as integration is better. Any ideas?

This should be posted in the q&a section. This is not development.

Well....
....I dont think it should as it is specific to custom ROMS and custom Kernels..... This is all Development and related, yes?

It's a question, IE goes in Q+A.
This is not for posting Development questions, its for posting Development.

Cog 2.1.6 - Best, most stable setup for me...

Just a short and sweet post about my experiences with various custom ROMs, the leaked Froyo, etc.
I've tried every Cog and SRE (back to 1.5.x), including all Froyo Cog betas and the best performance and overall user experience has been on the Cog 2.1.6 (2.1.7 was not as fast or stable).
GPS: performance of the GPS, in my experience, is just a shot in the dark, no matter what ROM or Jupiter file you use...it works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. I really don't want to go back to my Garmin and have a cluttered windshield, but I may have to or find another phone. The GPS is hopeless on this unit.
I went to the leaked 2.2 and it all around fixed my GPS worked perfect. But I couldn't handle the memory leak/lag. First time with Con (2.1.7). Liking it so far.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
using 2.16. Everything appears stable. GPS is OK. Speed is nice. About 4 days use so far
Captivate
Cog 2.16
Same here, Cog 2.1.6 is running nice and smooth.
Same here also. I happen to need this phone to actually be useful and reliable 2.1.6 delivers that.

dear god in heaven, please explain this reason to me. I'm so sick of seeing the development section full of worthless posts like this. what are you contributing right now to the development of the android operating system on the samsung captivate that hasn't been said in the cognition thread already?
you mean a pre-packaged ROM based on a stable eclair release is somehow more reliable than a leaked froyo ROM with known memory issues and no voodoo lagfix? it's like you have some fantastic insight that no one has ever seen before!
can we please keep the development section clear from clutter and let it focus on ACTUAL development, not personal opinions and setups?
I'll try to be a little more eloquent than Kaik-
It's cool that you're satisfied with the setup you're using, and I'm glad you found a combination that works for you, but there is a thread dedicated to Cog (a rather large one at that).
Kaik's frustration stems from the fact that there's nothing in this post that is actually development, nothing has been created, ported, or modified, this hasn't built the community or contributed to the evolution of our device- and for that reason this doesn't belong here.
While this thread is in the wrong place, isn't it more appropriate to simply use the report button and allow a mod to move it?
Well, since this IS in the development section, I'm going to post some recent developments as they relate to my experiences with the Captivate.
By far the best ROM I've used was SRE 1.2.3.
Good post too.
And, by the way, I understand if the Cog people want all the traffic to go through the cog site but, to be honest, it's useful to have cog info posted here as well. For example, yesterday I wanted to go from 2.2 to 2.1.7. The only download link I could find was on the cog website, which makes sense. However, when I started having trouble with the install, the cog site provided no links to discussions or anything like that--just a FAQ that seemed to primarily cover 2.2. So I spent like an hour trying to comb through xda threads to find solutions. I'm not anti-searching or anything like that, but it would've been much easier if the cog site linked to the appropriate XDA threads. I'm just saying....
Edit: Oh, and I second the response to unprovoked vulgarities. If I wanted to witness vulgar and unwarranted beratings, I'd go hang out with with my alcoholic step-dad. Thanks.

Me too. I tried making this thread a while ago to no avail. Maybe we will have better luck now.

The process for creating ROMs on the userland side is pretty generic to Android, you may want to do some generic Android research.
Personally I'm fine with the level of ROM development. Quality, not quantity.
I am perfectly fine with the roms we have as well but i would also like to strech my horizions and be able to contribute. "Having roms that we are fine with doesnt meam there should be less development" with that said i would like to return to my first post and get.sone.help in learning

As I said, do some searching. MikeyMike01 has a pretty good tutorial located somewhere else on XDA - captivate forums maybe? Or generic Android possibly, I don't remember.
Thank you for the reply i will look into that.
P.s. This is the kinda response people need to hear

BAMF ROM Free-for-all!

First off, I want to clarify something. A completed ROM is never a base. A base is an RUU, or a stock, rooted, deodexed ROM. I'm not sure eveyone really understands this. As such, we continue to get PMs that say "Hey can I use your ROM as a base for my ROM?" Our ROM, is a ROM... HTC certainly didn't release it as it sits. Countless hours have gone into making things work that never should have.
In any case, after careful consideration, we have decided to give open permission to anyone and everyone to use BAMF 'Touch My BAMF', 'BAMF Forever' and 'Son of a Bliss' as a base for their ROMs. Frankly, we get like a bazillion PMs a day asking for permission to do this, and it's getting old.
It seems every Tom, ****, and Harry wants to throw a theme on them, delete some apks, and call it Super Duper Bliss or whatever. Well I'm here to tell you, it's fine. We only ask you remove any BAMF exclusive items like Status Bar mods, init tweaks, BAMF Settings, Rosie mods, etc, etc...
We're all about helping further the community, and at this point, we feel like we've conquered Sense. Every imaginable version has been placed on the Thunderbolt courtesy of Team BAMF, but because of past events, XDA users have been mostly left out in the cold. Hopefully, some of the new devs here can pick up our work and make something great of it.
Just make sure to give credit where credit is due, and remember who brought it to you first.
Thanks,
Team BAMF
I am running your SoaB v 1.02 and I don't think they will be able to improve it as much as you have!
It is the best TBolt rom on a TBolt.

There will be no more deleting, that was a mistake on my part and won't happen again. Discussion is always allowed, the only thing not allowed are download links that lead back to their site cause they require registration in order to download. Its against forum rules I'm afraid but I know the bamf team has their site and is on rootz as well, if anyone needs info or downloads their only a few clicks away

greetings fair ones...i've a new ship, The sgs4G

i've arrived from the vibrant forum to a new home, and it is indeed a strange land.
anyway, loved the vibrant forums and look forward to these. while visiting the store for a warranty exchange the CS rep alerted me to the fact that i was in line for a Free warranty Upgrade?!?!?!?! to the SGS 4G free o' charge...i said yes. i've started reading the Bible's post on porting vibrant roms over, i'm using Jetpack 3.1(my favorite port to the vibrant) as my vibrant rom. it's my first real attempt at trying to do this and succeed or fail i want to go through with this...if any of you have pointers towards more resources please point! currently i'm really happy/impressed running stock rooted with TW's Bali 3.3 Kernel using the Go launcher. glad to be on board.
Welcome to the SGS4G forums. You can get started by looking at the rom threads that you like and just reading some posts and ask questions, alot of questions . Our community will gladly assist you on what you need to get done. I would normally suggest reading the Bible but it hasn't been updated in a while. It still has alot of useful information, so you can still check it out if you please. You will most definitely enjoy your stay here.
P.S- If you want Gingerbread right now, there's a thread on the development section called The gingerbread starter pack by fbis251, it's a sure way to get on GB the RIGHT way, even though I'm still on Froyo LOL.

[Q] Help finding a good Jellybean ROM?

Hi everyone,
I obviously own a Samsung galaxy s 3. I've been playing around with ROMs recently, and found that I do really like CleanROM. However CleanROM, like most of the other ROMs I have tried to use have god awful GPS support. Typically this wouldn't be a big big downfall, but I'm moving in a few weeks and will need navigation just so I don't get lost haha
Anyway my question is this: does anyone know of a good, lightweight ROM that GPS actually works on? +1 internets to people who help me out
Thanks!

I just jumped onto that page and I will try this ROM tonight and report back
I'm on synergy 169 and my GPS is fine. Not a lot of people actually turn it on. Most people turn on the gos but I'd you go to settings scroll down to accounts then select Google then location settings then make sure box if checked to allow Google as pps to access your location. First time connecting to navigation took about 5 min. Maps located instantly but navigation always takes longer.

Reporting back, I like CleanROM so much I decided to just check and see if there was an updated version. Turns out there is (5.6 ad opposed to 5.5.1 that I had) I'm on the car on the way to work now and GPS is working fine. I'll check out Synergy as well as the person above me said. Thanks everyone!
if youre ever in GPS issues download gpsfix from the market, get a lock and your issue should go away.
Anyone know of a fully working TW ROM that has multi-window enabled?

I did do a search, I've looked through hundreds of posts in the past week. Synergy has multi-window, but cant scroll though 1000 pages to see what the bugs are (OP doesnt list current bugs), easier for me to post in Q&A section. Dam, if you post a question related to the ROM in the development thread you catch crap, if I post in Q&A, I catch crap. Make up your mind.
