[Q] Help finding a good Jellybean ROM? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi everyone,
I obviously own a Samsung galaxy s 3. I've been playing around with ROMs recently, and found that I do really like CleanROM. However CleanROM, like most of the other ROMs I have tried to use have god awful GPS support. Typically this wouldn't be a big big downfall, but I'm moving in a few weeks and will need navigation just so I don't get lost haha
Anyway my question is this: does anyone know of a good, lightweight ROM that GPS actually works on? +1 internets to people who help me out
Thanks!

I just jumped onto that page and I will try this ROM tonight and report back

I'm on synergy 169 and my GPS is fine. Not a lot of people actually turn it on. Most people turn on the gos but I'd you go to settings scroll down to accounts then select Google then location settings then make sure box if checked to allow Google as pps to access your location. First time connecting to navigation took about 5 min. Maps located instantly but navigation always takes longer.

Reporting back, I like CleanROM so much I decided to just check and see if there was an updated version. Turns out there is (5.6 ad opposed to 5.5.1 that I had) I'm on the car on the way to work now and GPS is working fine. I'll check out Synergy as well as the person above me said. Thanks everyone!

if youre ever in GPS issues download gpsfix from the market, get a lock and your issue should go away.

Anyone know of a fully working TW ROM that has multi-window enabled?

Please look in the development section. There's a couple. Beans supposed to be updated to include it also. Do a search cmon guys. This information is so easily available

I did do a search, I've looked through hundreds of posts in the past week. Synergy has multi-window, but cant scroll though 1000 pages to see what the bugs are (OP doesnt list current bugs), easier for me to post in Q&A section. Dam, if you post a question related to the ROM in the development thread you catch crap, if I post in Q&A, I catch crap. Make up your mind.

Flat out fastest rom out there?

I know this is kind of vague and broad, but I wanted to get your opinions on what the fastest roms are that are out there for the Verizon version of the Galaxy SIII.
I just got mine in the mail today and will be ready to root and get goin in a couple hours after the battery charges. I am coming from the Thunderbolt, may it rest in peace, and MY GOD the lag drove me crazy, so I want the quickest LEAST laggy rom for the SIII !
You've been here since 2011, you should know the difference between Q&A and Development.
this isn't development, shouldn't go here
as far as your question goes, i feel aerovans 4.2.1 is plenty fast enough....others you can tweak and screw with all you want if you have a kernel that supports OC'ing your device......only way to tell what is the fastest in your opinion is to flash each one and test it out...simple as that
edit: damnit was ninja'd of my chance to say that for the first time lol

Yeah and everytime I post something I think should go in Development everyone says it goes here so CLEARLY I can't win.
Definitely Executioner/Cleanrom either one you can't go wrong

Clearly it ain't that serious...y somebody always gotta be an asshole? He just asked a question...get a life in the real world and quit patrolling the xda forums dumb azz ... and for me the fastest is either jelly "beans" build 6 or executioner 2....ur winnin with either one of those dude

Uh oh.. a wrong section violation. OP, hope you have a good lawyer..that's a crime punishable by death around here.
To answer the question though, people's mileage varies with ROMs. Its all in what you load with them(apps, etc.). The fastest are the AOSP ones, if you don't mind losing the bells and whistles, and putting up with the inherent bugs. Other than that, the more stripped the Touchwiz rom is, the faster it generally should be. Look around, see what one has the minimum of what you want, and give it a shot. Unlock your bootloader. Try an overclock kernel. See how it goes
lol, unless its a thread about a ROM you created, it shouldn't go in development or original development threads
if its a specific question relating to a certain ROM, ask it in that ROMs forum but beware to be flamed for not using the search function
if its a question about a theme or app and theres not a thread started in the themes & apps forum, then a question could possibly be asked in there if its relating to that only
all other questions and inquiries should be posted in the Q&A forum.......at least thats the logic i use when posting on the forums lol
It should be in q and a

This rom has been CRAZY fast on my s3. I tried Paranoid Android and Synergy too. The battery life is also insane, I got 26 hours yesterday (few hours on airplane for overnight).
While everyone is fluffing up their post counts by restating the SAME obvious information over and over for community brownie points, just thought I'd duck in and mention that the sky is generally blue, unless there are clouds in which case it may appear a color between white and dark grey.
In all seriousness though a mod will see that the thread is in the wrong section and move it accordingly. That is their job.Why 267754 people have to let that person know it's in the wrong section is beyond me.

Who cares where this question is posted. Honestly its better its posted here cause the dev threads are where everyone roams I never check q&a. So of it wasn't posted here the question would probably never be answered, so ask away op. My choice of ROM however is pures rls 10 plus has a nice theme included in the aroma installer.
Plus I thought this was a community of helping not making people feel like an idiot.

Look the problem is if questions are posted in development then it will start to be hard keeping up with development because it will be cluttered by questions. That is why there are seperate sections.
As for them not being answered... Have you looked lately? There are many senior members who spend there time just cruising there to answer questions. Droid style, con, sdy(can't remember the rest now) to name a few. I personally spend most my time in q and a helping out with the little knowledge I have.
To the OP it depends what you mean by fast. If you mean benchmarks then stick with with tw, I prefer beans with lean kernel WAY overclocked. If real world I say AOSP based, they're light and lag free. My personnel favorite is Eclipse

I've always had really good luck with AOSP ROMS in the past on other devices as far as speed goes. Since getting my gs3 I've only tried a couple of TWIZ Roms so far and I'm really pleased with MLJBM with Lean Kernel. Its super fast and buttery smooth and battery is decent as well. With that said I've noticed in the past with previous devices that some Roms respond better on one device and not so much on another. Youre probably best off taking the advice that was mentioned earlier and try a few different ones out for yourself til you find what youre looking for

[Q] Stabile Rom that doesn't drain battery life?

Hey!
First of all sorry if this is a repost, but i just can't really figure things out on my own.
I have a samsung galaxy s 4g branded to t-mobile. I had a paranoid android rom installed, but it drained my battery quite a bit and i crashed a lot of times. Now i decided to simply install the stock rom, which works good for me. The only problem is that it my phone won't recognize my sim card. I had this problem before, but after installing a custom rom it worked fine.
Can somebody please tell me a good, stabile rom for the sgs4g, that doesn't drain the battery too much? Also i would need some instructions on how to get the rom installed properly.
Thanks for your help!
all roms use battery
hmm
Well yeah. But some do more and some less, right? I am just looking for a rom that is stabile and doesnt crash all the time. i am not looking for a unofficial beta or something, just for something that works, you know what i mean? :/
Try barebones, it works great for me. Its based off the stock GB rom so its really stable

Try it and if you want some more features, while maintaining stock look and feel - I recommend using Barebone - here.

Nobody is saying not to help newbs here. You have misread the discussion here. It is not a matter of bothersome, it is much to do with the newbs showing interest in this community by first reading the threads. By posting the same question over and over again just showed me that these newbs are here for a quick answer and leave. And on the Net we have a term for that, they are considered "leechers."
There are many other newbs in this forum, and they don't act in this manner. I am always happy to help them within the scope of my knowledge.
When you say "if the post bother me then just move on," it tells me that either you are trying to avoid this issue and/or haven't put much thought in this matter.

Either ignore the post and report it or just dont effing respond. Look at what woody said in the quote I posted above.
People need to learn to use the brain function called ignore. If people would just report posts/threads and not post some snarky retort threads would stay focused. But I digress.

AOKP has been perfectly stable, and given good battery life on both mine, and my wife's SGS4G's. She was running Valhalla Final and having constant reboots. Ran Gremlin Remover, and worked up to installing AOKP. Neither unit has had a single force close or reboot. I also swapped my stock OEM battery (which was going bad and part of the reason for the instability in my phone) which is 1650 mAh with an Anker 1800mAh battery. I can now get by on one charge a day, which is nice......there are likely some which are much more slim, but all depends on what your needs are.

I think the real question is why on earth would you create a brand new thread for such a dumb question. There are two places you should have looked before posting: The OP and Google.
If you would have read the OP you would have noticed in the changelog that it says "CyanogenMod Base (10.0 STABLE – Final Release)". Since you have been a member for three years you should know that CyanogenMod is not TouchWiz its based on AOSP.
If you would have searched Google you would have typed "is miui...." and smart Google would have suggested "is miui aosp" and "is miui aosp based" and so on. The results from those searches would have given you the answer you were looking for in the time it took you to create this useless thread.
People get flamed all of the time for not searching. How could you lurk for three years, seeing this going on and not think to yourself, 'Self, I better use the search button before I create a thread or ill get virtually raped if the answer was in the op or easily found on Google.'

Need your opinion based off experience

Situation is as follows -- Broke my gnex yesterday, called asurion, they were out of 32g gnex so they are sending me a white verizon 32gb s3. Cool. I start medical school in a few days and won't have time to play with tons of roms, but I can't stand samsungs skin.
In your experience, what is the best "one and done" ROM? I've been running cyanogen on my gnex should I just do same or what?
Thanks for helping me as I don't have time to research properly myself

Maybe a mod can move it for me. My apologies.
only you can decide whats best for you.
if you want a one and done without the samsung look but with the stability, function and stock options check beans rom. its got a great AOSP theme that will be famliar to you.
any of the AOSP roms are pretty stable also. id recommend slimbean personally.
but again, everyone is different. so read, and try some out.
Sorry, no moving, but thread is closed as the above post says it all.
No best rom as that is very subjective.

ROM That Works

If you Verizon S5 Developer Edition owners are looking for a ROM that works go here: https://www.elementalxdesigns.com/eclipse/showthread.php?12016-ROM-TW-VZW-SV-Dev-Ed-SM-G900V. This ROM is a WIP but everything works and it runs smooth. It's a TW based ROM but it runs pretty nicely and every function works. The developer makes no promise as to the speed with which he continues to develop the ROM, but it is a pretty good ROM at this point.

The operative word in the OP is "works". The five ROMs listed in the thread you provided all have major issues such as can't receive or make phone calls, camera doesn't work, no data etc. To me that is not a stable/working ROM. But, it is a start so I'm not complaining.
