Hello everyone,
On my Galaxy Tab I was able to put a direct link to some folders/files on the SD card on my Tab's desktop - saved alot of searching. I used Bluetooth File Transfer from the market to do it. Is it possible to do the same thing in HC 3.2? I have a stock US Wifi only Xoom.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this is what you are referring to, but in ADW EX launcher you can put shortcuts (that you can label) on the desktop (any of 7 screens on my setup). These are related to the different applications installed that have a feature that works like this. You can also add file folders. You'd have to check it out to see if this fits your description.
So can you put folders on a home screen?
yea i did it
A Problem with ADW
So, I put ADW EX on my Xoom and it worked great...until I shut it down to charge. When I turned it on in the morning, there were no desktop screens at all - none. When I hit the home button it didn't do anything. I had the icons in the system tray but that was it. I uninstalled ADW since that was the only thing that I had added and now I have the stock launcher which works. Any ideas what may have happened or what I should do? I liked the way ADW worked but don't want to have to uninstall every time I turn the Xoom off. Help!!

You may try that but you can just try by installing your ROM then installing the home dock like any other app. And if need be, delete your old launcher.

yea i tried that with TB but it was crossed out in the app list and when i hit on it i wasnt able to restore it. im looking for a BG app of the dock home. ill try to get a foyo version and see what happens. this is aggervating.
okay so far heres what ive done
okay im running Liberty .3 on GB and im trying to get the GB desk dock back into liberty with no sucess (well very small maybe) ive downloaded a GB framework zip, extracted the dock.apk and went to install it. it shows up on the screen w/ permissions etc and goes to install and just says "app not installed" and thats it. so i went on the phone and looked at the file with Astro and extraced the files into a directory. then rebooted in bootstrap and tried to install the zip that way but didnt work either. ive found a few zips with the dock that KIND of worked. dock moto.zip was the file. i did bootstrap and installed it. i put it in my home dock and it said i was connected to a multimedia station and showed the icon on the notification bar, but thats the only thing that happened.
any suggestions with this? im struggling here to get this to work. this is a important feature to me to get back running.
I've noticed this problem since I bought my Sensation. I immediately started transferring over apps from my G2 and Xoom (the ones I planned on using on my Sensation, at least). I know which apps have a widget and which don't. When I long-press on my screen and choose widgets, I see most of the widgets of apps I just installed but not all of them.
There are times when I flashed custom roms to try them out and then go back to my nand (clean stock backup) and the same widgets that didn't show up before would now appear on the list.
Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know why this is happening?
Only thing I can think of is that maybe the parent program for the widget got moved to the sdcard. I know widgets have to be in,main, memory to work.
Forgive me if this is an infantile response, I am still fairly new to android, but eager to help if I can.

Hmmm... Interesting, if you're right. In my previous Android phones and on my Xoom, I move all the apps that I can to SD every time and never had this problem. But I will give this a try. I'll report back if this is the case with Sensation on stock Sense UI.
I just restored from a previous nand (good thing I happened to backup for no apparent reason just this morning) and it looks like the widget is there. I checked where the app was and it is in fact on my SD card. So there goes that theory. Hehe.
I wonder if others have the same issue and if they found out the culprit. Thanks anyway, Ivanstein.
One thing I've noticed that with no matter what sensation rom I flash first time i download an app the widgets don't show in the widgets menu until i reboot.
Guys, I don't know if that also has happened with your kindles, but there's no way to create a folder on my ADW.
No way at all!
When I was using Go launcher EX I could create folders easily, but with ADW it just doesn't work.
Someone is having the same problem? any workarounds?
No, it doesn't work (and ADW Launcher hasn't been updated in a while so I'm not sure if there is a new version in development or not). It's the same with shortcuts and custom shortcuts too. It's a pain, as I quite like folders, but I'm just sitting patiently for CM7, and then at that point, I probably won't care!
lol I just posted a similar problem with apps that use folders. Did you have this problem before the update?

Yeah, this has been a problem since day 1. Doesn't seem to be just ADW either, Go Launcher Ex has the same problem. Clearly something in the KF stock ROM that disables these things.
I also started a post about the creation of shortcuts ("Car Home") and the lack of the OS recognizing that when I click "Add shortcut" it should give me a list of applications.
I suppose this is related to the lack of being able to create folders. There has to be a way to fix this without resorting to going to CM7. I'd like to be able to keep the Amazon functionality with the vanilla OS feel.

I'm suspect it's buried deep in the kernel somewhere, and I'm not sure it would be any easy fix. I could be wrong, but bearing it mind it doesn't provide any errors, Amazon must have disabled it as part of providing their custom UI.
I'm with you though, I quite like the overall feel and coloring of the Amazon interface, and it's pretty damn functional with a Launcher enabled despite the minor issues such as this.
For some reason, when I was using Go launcher I was able to create the folders, but not shortcuts. Its really strange...
I side-loaded the ADW apk 1.3.6 but it doesn't seem to work on my Kindle. I know this is off-topic but I was hoping someone could tell me which version is best on the Kindle. Every time I go to install it and open it says the ADW.Launcher stopped unexpectedly :/
ADW 1.3.3.1 is the one I'm using

Simi Folder Widget has got you covered
true, and it works even though the market says its incompatible.
I was able to create folders in Go Launcher, but only by putting icons on top of each other. You have to be really precise though or the icons just move out of the way. Huge pain, took me a couple minutes for EACH folder I made. Haven't found a way to do this in ADW yet...
Hey Guys,
the new update for ADW solved the issue, besides ADW feels a little bit faster on my kindle.
BTW, folders can only be created by putting icons on top of each other, just like we do using Go Launcher.
On my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (HC 3.2), my apps (in the Apps screens) were always automatically organised in alphabetical order, without gaps.
On my new Galaxy Tab 7.7 (also HC 3.2), they seem to be all over the place, with gaps. It's a bit like my Samsung Galaxy S2 phone (GB 2.3.6), on which I use the AppZorter app to keep the apps sorted alphabetically.
Is anyone else experiencing this with their Galaxy Tab 7.7 in Apps ?

Yes, there seems to be some bug with the Touchwiz UX
There is no auto sorting of apps, and sometimes a blank page will remain even after i removed all apps from that page
Not to mention it does a poor job of remembering my folders
I've done a firmware update through kies (now ZSLA2/HK version)
And that seemed to have stabilized the touchwiz somewhat, though still no auto-sorting
It seems to add them in order of install, rather than alphabetically like on the 10.1/8.9. I also saw a blank page once but it cleared itself after a reboot.
Yes, I noticed it too. While generally, it seems to go by order of installation, it's not always the case either. For instance, some of my original apps got mixed up together with apps that I installed.
Anyway, I'm no longer dealing with this after moving to GO Launcher Ex, where you get to choose the sorting method (Alphabetical, Latest installed first, Earliest installed first).
One, and perhaps the only way for now, is to clear data for the TWLauncher app. It will automatically sort all the apps in system and you downloaded ones in alphabetical order. You will loose customization though (widget placements, etc).
That was one of many reasons I switched to ADW launcher. I hope Samsung will come up with more customizable TW for ICS.
I have created folders and put my apps in.
It is a bit cleaner...
Apps won't stay long inside the folders!

Answer: Do not use the plus sign inside the folders. Press, "Edit", and drag and drop the apps into the folders. They will stay in the folders, then. Worked for me.
I just got the phone 2 days ago and have been browsing around for answers and come up with very little....
First off, if I were to do the root, unlock bootloader, etc., am I still only limited to ROMs specificially for the AT&T phone or can I use ARHD for example from the other forum?
Second, is there any way to use the real ICS keyboard instead of HTC's or one off the market? I had a galaxy nexus and really like that one. I am currently using a copy from a while ago from the market and its not as good.
Third, I like the revamped messaging app, but doesn't have the emojin support. Was wondering if there was anything on the market besides GOSMS or Handcent, etc. that could allow that with the stock messaging app.
Appreciate your time and thanks in advance

I also came from a gnex, and love the stock ICS keyboard. The easiest way to safely get it for free is to download one of the latest CM9 nightlies from http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=maguro&type=nightly
Then open the zip, go to system/app, and copy LatinIME.apk out. Put it on your one x and install it. You'll then have to go into settings->language/keyboard, and enable the keyboard.
After that, go to any text field on your phone (like your browser's URL bar), make the HTC keyboard pop up, then drag down your notification bar and you'll see the switch keyboard notification.
No root required, nice and safe.
That is an awesome trick lol...Do you have any other apk suggestions I can use from the CM build?
It works perfectly! Thanks again

I haven't felt the need for anything else from my gnex, so I didn't attempt to use any other apks. I know a few people were requesting the stock sms and dialer, but you really need to be careful pulling system/app apks out, since there could be dependencies.

NICE So much better to type on now!
Anyone else for the emojin question? I found the answer to the first one.
Thanks
