Here's one method:
1) Install Astro File Manager from the Android Market
2) Press an open spot on your desktop (like you would to add a widget)
3) Tap the "More" tab toward the right of your desktop
4) Tap "Astro"
5) Wait a few seconds and the Astro file browser window will pop up. Browse to and select the file you want to place on the desktop.
A shortcut will be created on your desktop. When you tap on it you will possibly get a selection menu. Click the "Use by default for this action" box, then select Polaris Office.
That should make it work for you any time you tap on it.
Mike
Thank you!

I have an XDA IIs but I guess that makes little difference except for the fact it is running 2003 SE.
Rather than have to use 'file explorer' to run some software on the storage card I would like to have a 'shortcut' instead. Is this possible? Can someone please tell me how?
In file explorer find the item you want to make a shortcut to.
Tap on it and hold until the popup menu appears.
Select "Copy" from the menu.
Now use file explorer navigate to where you would like the shortcut, normally \Windows\StartMenu\Programs and select Edit from the Menu bar at the bottom of the screen and then select "Paste Shortcut" from the Edit Menu.
You will now have a shortcut called "Shortcut to [your file name]".
You may want to rename this to just [your file name], so tap and hold and select rename from the popup menu.
Many thanks for that, I guessed it might be that simple but just couldn't work it out. I'm sorted now.

It is easy to make a shortcut...
1) Use File Explorer and copy the WiFi On~Off.exe file from the folder you placed it in like Storage Card/Program files/WiFi On~Off.
2) Now go to Windows>Start Menu>Programs and select menu from File Explorer. Under the menu option, you will see create or paste shortcut. Just choose that and a shortcut will be created.
thanx,,, how do i put on top bar for easy access Or remap a button to use the toggle?
if it's a shortcut/app you can go to start/settings/buttons and assign it to one of the buttons
or you could use a 3rd party app like HButton to map any app/link/toggle you like to any button...
cheers

Or you could just go to Start>Settings>Menu and just check on the created shortcut to be included in the Start Menu.

Use Total Commander. Highlight a file, Select 'File->>>>>-Create Shortcut.' When the pop-up appears, click 'Tree,' and navigate to the folder you want to send the shortcut to.

Thats the road I walk now,but like this: Highlight a file --> Copy --> Navigate to the folder were I want the shortcut --> paste Shortcut.
I want something more easy. something like this: Highlight a file --> Send shortcut to "Games".
hope you can help.
If you change the total commander's window view to dual window or virtual dual window mode, and use the 'ctrl' button to select multiple files, it will be much easier to create mass shortcuts.
Hi, how can I create a link to a specific folder on the desktop? I downloaded folder organizer as I thought it could do it but can't figure out a way, either with that or the default inbuilt shortcut options.
I'd like to know too.. How would I go about making a shortcut to some pdfs or some folders?
I use ES File Explorer and just tap and hold a file or folder then choose "Shortcut" from the pop-up menu to add it to a home page. Easy as pie.
No way, that was easy, ta.
Gooooooooooood morning
How to create a shortcut to a Excel file? I have made a special excel sheet to calculate many thing (temperature conversion, tax, microsoft points, etc.).
The file is on the tablet, but I don't know how to create a shortcut into the tablet. Right now I need to open Polaris, browse for the file, open the file... What I want to do is only start the file from the "desktop" of the tablet in one click.
Possible or not?
Thanks alot!
On my Asus are installed: X-plore ( manager, excellent and free) and Go launcher Ex (ibidem). So in Go Launcher ex select Add, then Shortcut, Then Add Shortcut (with X-plore icon). The X-plore is opened and browse to your file. Check the file, (on the right side of the file is check mark) and then press OK from bottom right of the screen.
The easiest way is download es file manager, find the file you want, long press on it and choose shortcut. Then it'll be on your home screen.

I'm using ES File manager for a long time and don't know this feature!!! Woah!!! Thanks alot dude!!!
