I have an XDA IIs but I guess that makes little difference except for the fact it is running 2003 SE.
Rather than have to use 'file explorer' to run some software on the storage card I would like to have a 'shortcut' instead. Is this possible? Can someone please tell me how?
In file explorer find the item you want to make a shortcut to.
Tap on it and hold until the popup menu appears.
Select "Copy" from the menu.
Now use file explorer navigate to where you would like the shortcut, normally \Windows\StartMenu\Programs and select Edit from the Menu bar at the bottom of the screen and then select "Paste Shortcut" from the Edit Menu.
You will now have a shortcut called "Shortcut to [your file name]".
You may want to rename this to just [your file name], so tap and hold and select rename from the popup menu.
Many thanks for that, I guessed it might be that simple but just couldn't work it out. I'm sorted now.

Hello,
So I got Windows Mobile 6.5
When I go into the Start Menu, all my programs are at the bottom and I can't put them or drag them into a folder.
So my question is how can I make folders in the Start Menu and how to Put my applications into the folders.
Use file explorer or resco or total commander and go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Deleting from Start Menu
Hi All,
After using File Explorer to cut and paste programs into specific folders, the programs still appear on the start menu, even when they don't appear in windows/start menu/programs anymore. How do I get rid of these icons from the start menu? Thanks!
I believe it's the same as with 6.1, ..Start -> Settings -> Menus.. then just uncheck the boxes you don't want displayed in your Start Menu

Click to collapse
make sure you cut the files by showing hidden and system files...
hold down on the item and choose "Move Down" that will take it off the main page. I am still trying ot get use to WM6.5 menu. I am not sure I really like it yet but it is very finger friendly.
Thanks,
SoBBie
PS I also noticed that you can not order the items in a subfolder. if you are in a sub folder and hold it down... then choose move to top... it will put it on the main page in the first position.
Thanks,
SoBBie
Great advice, I'm slowly learning WM. However when I hold down my finger to bring up the cut, paste etc menu it does not list paste if the folder I'm pasting in is full. Instead it thinks I'm selecting one of the files in that folder. When there is space in an half full folder I can bring up the menu correctly because my finger is over empty space in that folder. not sure I can explain my problem too clearly but does somebody understand this problem and tell me what I'm doing wrong ?
How select in Explorer, Total Commander...etc several file or folder traction stylus (drag drop)??
I know, that it goes setting register
In total Commander, use the icon CTRL that allow you to multi-select file : one click on a file does not deselect the file.
If you want to multi select with 'gesture', you must disable the scrolling gesture for this app. It should be in registry, but I don't know where.
I am "Ctrl A" or "Shift" apply
However gesture it is going throughout system
into 100% that is going switch registers system (I'm knew it, but has forgot)I Ctrl A or Shift use
"send shortcut to" Send a shortcut to a folder of your choice.

I´ll like to have that function, but I whuld also be able to have "send shortcut to memorycard" or "games folder" or just a folder of my choice.
I belive that I have seen an app that let me do exatlly that, but I cant find It, and when I search for "send shortcut to" I just get matches of "send shortcut to programs" threds...

Thats the road I walk now,but like this: Highlight a file --> Copy --> Navigate to the folder were I want the shortcut --> paste Shortcut.
I want something more easy. something like this: Highlight a file --> Send shortcut to "Games".
hope you can help.
If you change the total commander's window view to dual window or virtual dual window mode, and use the 'ctrl' button to select multiple files, it will be much easier to create mass shortcuts.
So whenever I install an application, instead of going to my applications folder, it gets placed (dumped would be better put) into the Window's Home Screen. Is there a way I can move the applications into the "Application" folder which they're supposed to be in?
Indeed there is.
Open File Explorer [or Resco Explorer if you have it installed]
Go to "My Device" if you're not already there
Scroll to the "Windows" folder, open it
Wait for it to load, as it might take a few seconds
Scroll down to the "Start Menu" folder, open it
Now you should see two folders: Programs and Settings
Open Programs
Now, for the items you wish to put into your "Applications" folder, tap and HOLD the item so the context menu appears
Select "CUT"
NOW, open the "Applications" folder
Tap and HOLD on an empty area of the folder, and select Paste from the context menu
Repeat for all of the items you wish to move around
NOTE:: In case there is no empty space to tap on, simply tap the "Menu" button the Softkey area, and select paste.
Hope this helps.

Here's one method:
1) Install Astro File Manager from the Android Market
2) Press an open spot on your desktop (like you would to add a widget)
3) Tap the "More" tab toward the right of your desktop
4) Tap "Astro"
5) Wait a few seconds and the Astro file browser window will pop up. Browse to and select the file you want to place on the desktop.
A shortcut will be created on your desktop. When you tap on it you will possibly get a selection menu. Click the "Use by default for this action" box, then select Polaris Office.
That should make it work for you any time you tap on it.
Mike
Thank you!
