Any advice on improving WI-FI calling.
I get no signal inside my house.
No one is online and all computer are off.
Stock Gingerbread Tom.
You get no wifi signal or the wifi calling will not connect?

WI-FI connects and every thing
WI-FI related works great except WI-FI calling. I have the router in the middle of house. The call connection is fine at first then it acts like when a cordless phones go out of range static and echo.

I use WiFi calling all day without this issue. You might try telling your router to use a different channel, and/or looking for sources of interference.
That sounds more like internet connection quality to me.
I would try making sure nobody is running torrents or other high bandwidth stuff at the same time.
I had no issues with WIFI Calling on CM7. I recently switched back to the stock rom and have had jitter issues and poor sound quality. Hope this helps.

+1.. get the free wifi analyzer app.. then switch your router to the channel with the least interference.
I try that on my next day off.

What version is your wifi calling app?
Hope this helps.

In the WiFi Calling app settings, check under Connection Preferences to be sure you have WiFi preferred for calling selected, just in case something changed it. Also, in the setting area, maybe under advanced, there is a menu option for log errors. That might help point to the problem and a solution.
Problem with wifi calling
I have a LG G2x 2.3.3 (rooted) running Xboarder's Stock Tweaked OTA Gingerbread build v1.2.2 and faux123 kernel (thank you great work) just have one problem that I have not been able to solve or find on here, my wifi calling will open and say enabling and stays that way (will not connect to wifi calling) any suggestions?

I had the same problem when I was on stock rom. Once I updated the baseband and flashed a custom rom, I dont have that problem anymore.

Wi-Fi issues remain after the Gingerbread update...:-(
When I connect to a wireless network and try to stream or upload something my phone starts to lag. Now I cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network and have to reboot my phone. This is the exact behavior before the update...nothing has been fixed in this release ... I sure hope LG fixes the issues before T-Mobile pushes the OTA.

Personally never had this problem. I would revert back to stock and try and get a replacement phone.
This is my third replacement and all of them had this issue. It would work fine for a while and then it would start acting up...

really 3 replacements with that same problem? idk maybe its ur wifi at your house?
It is not my wi-fi, the phone does it on other networks and I've used my wi-fi with other devices-no issues...

I had wifi problems.....until I switched to cynogenmod.
I was about to get a sensation, but cannot consider giving up the benifits of cynogenmod. The additional features it adds, although small, all add up to a much better user experience, not to mention that it fixes the phone.

Which security type are you using on your WIFI? Maybe it's an issue with that specific protocol. Try changing the protocol back and forth for test purposes. It's possible it's one of the newer types of security and they really just aren't aware of a problem yet.
Also double check the firmware for your device. I understand that you say you've had it on other wifi and other devices work fine on your wifi, but I've had XBox's and computers that had problems with the firmware I was running but other devices worked fine.
I had the same stuttering problems as you using wifi with stock Froyo. The phone was close to unusable when streaming or downloading anything. Most of the time if wouldn't even switch from 4G to wif which was more annoyingi. With the gingerbread update wifi has dramatically improved and the switching is well under 10secs. Cm7 or anything based on it never worked for my wifi network sadly.
I have this very same problem. Turning on wifi I would still see the 4G icon and data activity. This has got to be so annoying after upgrading to gingerbread. Also now I have a new issue with the browser. This is issue is when the screen locks then unlocks the browser would automatically go back to the previous page. I mean why so many issues with this phone?
I've been having issues with wifi calling with every ROM I've tried. It disconnects regularly every now and then.

I get that sometimes too. For me, it takes a long time to connect, but once it connects it usually stays. I think a lot of it depends on the wifi drivers for the rom. On CM7 I needed a much stronger signal to connect to wifi calling than on Unity 2.39. I need wifi calling cause I don't get service where I'm at, and Unity works real good for me so if you haven't given it a shot yet you might wanna try it. Hope this helps.

I think T-Mobile's WiFi calling system is unreliable, so no matter what ROM you're running, you're going to run into problems with it. Sometimes it won't connect at all, and I don't think I've ever made a WiFi call that didn't break up badly at some point during the call.

That is weird. In CM7 I always had a rock solid wifi signal and never had wifi calling issues. In all of the VU versions, I am currently on 2.39 my wifi signal always seems to not be strong enough. I always get the message that I am almost out of range and my calls may get disconnected. This message occurs even when I am in the same room as my router.

If this has been asked and answered, I apologize. Can't figure what to search for to find it.
I have a multi-story house and one wifi access point simply doesn't cover it all. I've wired up one for upstairs and one for downstairs. One of the two has DHCP enabled. Both have identical SSIDs and security. I do not know to change BSSIDs (some kinda hidden SSID?) Have tried setting both to same channel and to different channels - currently on 7 and 11.
My charge will not automatically switch between them. Under EE4 I could turn off wireless and when I turned it back on it'd connect to the stronger signal. Under all the gingerbread builds it connects to one and even after turning wireless on and off it connects to the original one. Under GB I can only switch between them using Wiifi Analyzer's connect feature. Under GB I've taken to setting up the SSIDs to different values so I can at least manually switch between them in settings. This is a royal pain as I walk between the two floors all the time.
What am I doing wrong? Doesn't anyone else have this problem?
Instead of multiple routers, try using wireless repeaters or extenders. A repeater picks up a wifi signal and rebroadcasts it for better reception. A network extender has an ethernet port that connects to your router and makes an access point without making a new network.

I prefer dd wrt routers using WDS. There are lots of resources about this. Or just buy a some access points. I find that repeaters have interference issues.

Well, actually my second router is currently setup in firmware to be an access point.
Have either of you guys observed a Charge w/ GB actually handing off correctly? If so, at least I'd know that it's my setup.

A repeater is the best solution? The upstairs location just barely picks up the wifi from downstairs. Seems like you'd lose a lot of thruput that way.

Tried the app "Wifi Manager"? It might help you. There a bunch others. I would try them all out to see if they help your situation.
WiFi Jumper fixed this problem for me. Well worth the money.

Seems like a nifty utility. Easier than setting up WDS, but I still think that WDS is the bees knees when it comes to having rock-solid wifi everywhere you want.
When I flash 7.2 stable or any nightly after it, wifi calling quality is AWFUL. It's nearly impossible to understand what the other person is saying due to dropouts and static and such. It kind of sounds like cell calling when you have almost 0 signal (dropouts, distortion). Cell calling works and sounds fine, not wifi calling.
If I flash back to 20120603-NIGHTLY-p999, wifi calling works fine again. And YES, I do have the new March baseband.
I've tried this on multiple wifi networks that I KNOW have plenty of bandwidth, and the results are the same.
Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
I'm having the issue as well even more so I'm having issues connecting, if/once it does connect I get static as well.

Yup, I'm on LG-P999-V21y, which I think is the only one that works with the March baseband.
Would RIL affect wifi calling anyway? I assumed RIL only had to do with the cell radio.
I was on 20c for some reason. I just switch hex to 21y hopefully that'll help.

I keep getting this at my work I changed nothing from yesterday ans it was fine... and whn at home I got it there also. Which is fine I get service at home but not at my work.

I'll look into it next time I'm at work at that location... It's a College arena with about 10 wi-fi routers all over the place... still Wi-Fi calling at my house where nothing has changed is acting stupid... just takes minutes to connect at times, and if it connects it sounds weird and distorted... I went back to a OTA GB rom and nothing was wrong with wi-fi calling, so i dont know... Thanks for the link though.

stock 7.2 kernel -- it works fine for me, if and only if you
(1) are on 21y baseband
(2) use GetRIL to make sure you have 21y RIL
(3) flash Owain's fix for new baseband
(4) use Trinity ELPmax kernel..
Then it's fan-frickin-tastic.
Otherwise, it works, but you have to reboot all the time to keep it working.
Hello all,
So it seems as though the WiFi network at work is draining the battery on my phone way faster than my WiFi at home. What would the cause of the exponential drainage at work and not at home?
We have Ruckus wireless network setup at work, and I have an ATT 2Wire wireless router at home.
My work wifi was crazy noisy... Use the app Network Log to check traffic when you're at work and at home.
The thing to check for is if the the kernel sends and receives a lot of packets at work. If it does, try switching to ktoonsez's kernel over in Original Android Development. He implements some TCP congestion code that silences my work wifi.

So it seems as though my work WiFi is pretty noisy. I currently on IMOs 1.5 kernel and am skeptical to switch. But I will try it out and see what happens
