I just dropped my diamond by accident while running to my car to avoid the rain =="....
It was in a PDA case, but it still somehow popped out of the case and got scratched up...
So I am in DIRE NEED OF A REPLACEMENT HOUSING!!!
lucky for me, the only damaged parts were the metal rim around the front side of the phone and the battery cover...
I am thinking of just getting an extended battery so i can get a new battery cover with it as well.
But I can't find the Replacement part for the rim around the front of the phone...
I took a lot at the phone and it seems easy enough to replace the rim....but i need to find the part first....
Please guys, any help will be very much appreciated....
Really need this housing replacement...can't stand looking at my scratched up diamond =(
phones still in its early stages so gonna be hard to get hold of housing so quick. Usually best place is here
http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-diamond-c-277_533.html
but they only have screen and back plate at the moment
just be patient a little bit longer.
does that shop deliver quickly??
would it be possible to ask for oem parts directly from htc...?
i talked it over with htc canada today and it may cost upwards 100 CDN to fix the cosmetic damage =(
no insurance?
uh no...i've never insured a phone before....
never thought it would the belt clip would break and let the phone fall and get scratched =="
argh...
any ideas on what to do...
should just take out the rim and touch it up myself ^^"....
oh i've got an idea =D!!!!
I can buy a dummy phone and replace it directly that way...
right.....?

In a very rare occasion you can use dummy phones.
Mostly the inside is completely different, no way of using those dummies for housing parts.
Haven't seen a dummy Diamond yet, so I can't tell if it is usable, but mostly HTC dummies aren't usable.

i'm just lokoing to replace the outer rim on the front side of the phone and the battery cover....?
so maybe its possible...
ill drop by a local mall and see if its possible i guess....
loads of dummy diamond phones on ebay the last time i check it out.
i wouldn't say loads...
i saw a total of 4 =P lol
average 20-30 dollars CDN
which is fine for me if i can use it as housing and battery cover replacement
anyways heading out to check the dummy model =)
it doesn't work =(
its one giant piece, so i can't really take it apart to replace the piece i want...
How hard is it to take apart the diamond?
The invisible shield really stuffed up my screen. I can see parts flaked off the screen (looks like a thin protection layer) which is believe is the touch sensor itself. It has not affected the use of the phone but looks ugly.
EDIT: Home from work and did a search and found this: http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor-htc-touch-diamond/
Looks like a lot of work to get to the digitizer.
wow amazing find...was looking for a page like this...
aw man...the housing is one whole piece from what i can tell from the last picture...guess a DIY housing replacement is not really gonna be easy....
i'm gonna ask HTC for an estimate....
just minor cosmetic damage on mine on the corners so nothing too huge but it pains me to see it every time =(
at least this seems a bit easier than fixing the iphone....its so much work to put in a new digitizer cause of the way the housing is built
Looking for the Telus Black rear cover
If anyone finds a place that is selling the black rear battery cover for the CDMA version of the phone i would be interested.
anyone have any lucking finding a replacement housing?
I can provide the replacement housing
It cost about 36 euro
Like this??

Hey all,
I know the 'loose hinge' debate has been beaten to death but anyone have any good experience with any cases that help negate this problem? I called T-Mobile about the hinge and they said they never heard of the hinge problem but that some say certain cases help alleviate at that. (Ponder that statement for a moment!) I figure its worth asking before I try to take apart the phone and stretch/replace the springs.
My phone has been great, no hinge issue until last night the phone fell of the nightstand and ever since the hinge is so bad that you can feel the looseness as you hold it or text.
Thanks!
i would like to know the same thing. the thing is, i dont think any manucfactuar will build a case for the phone to prevent the hinge looseness. the reason being is because companies such as htc and tmobile do not see it as a problem, so i dont think anyone will make a case maybe with a clip, to hold it tighter, or whatever. which would be cool. but im glad someone noticies the same thing i do. i dont mind the hinge, but i cant stand typing on the on screen keyboard because i can feel the screen just jossle just a little. drives me insane!
I think it could be done with the hard shell, and rubberized cases. I small spring loaded mechanism on the part of the case near the microphone. it would stretch out and lock the keyboard in place when you extend it and then lock back in place when you close it. I tried to draw a design but I am a horrible artist. We would have to build them ourselves though.
I have a hardshell clear case I got off ebay. I can tilt my g2 now and the hinge/screen won't open or expose. I have the one that doesn't go around the trackpad.

i am also looking for this kind of case
Sadly for me, a few pieces of scotch tape on the sides fixes the problem! I dont use the physical keyboard a lot so its not a big deal.
I'm not sure if one is made /c:
Any ideas in a DIY case manipulation?

Hi Guys,
i am thinking of buying a DesireZ at the end of the month. The so called "Hinge-Problem" is none for me (tried the phone in some stores), BUT:
I fount a topic on a german forum, where many users report of color-changes near the metal-parts on the plastic of their phone - some think it is caused by some bags, others say it is the plastic itself which changes color perhaps because of water or sweating....
Here is a link to some pictures a guy posted there to show you what i mean: http://img19.imageshack.us/g/pc0343121024x768.jpg/
On the Pic 2 and 3 you see some red/purple spots....
Can anyone here confirm this??
If this is a material-problem (and this is what it looks like, because users say they tried everything to remove the color without succes....) this would be a no-go for me to buy this phone
Pls help me

The point is, that this guy is not the only one.... there are many concerning about this problem which confuses me a little (maybe i should pick another phone....)
probably from rubbing in my opinion
This is a known issue. Someone brought this up in a thread on here not too long ago. Some people said their phone changed color without the bag. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the oil from your hands when you old the phone or the acid. I had a pair of glasses do the same thing, and the eye doctor said it was due to the acid in my skin or something along those lines. I put a case on my phone and have had no problems so far.
That's to bad
Go buy a cheap g1 oem slip case thing. I love mine. I got 4 sitting right here next to my bed since I loose them all the time they r like 3 bucks a piece

Hmmm too bad had many phones but never had any problems like this - and in my opinion a phone for more than 500€ should have better material than THIS
I guess i will have a closer look on the DHD since i never heared about big problems there

I've been using one of these slip cases on my phone since I got it. Its a great fit and protects my phone from the innards of my pockets =)
Needless to say, I don't have any discoloration issues here.
ah yes.. I have this problem too.. I brought it to the service center and they change the housing for me.. and the back feels sticky too i feel that this is due to charging the phone and the back of the phone gets too hot..
I bought a cheap holster for my Nexus One and now it has similar markings as those pictures, now for my Z I bought a OEM HTC Leather holster, yes it was a bit expenssive but so far nothing the Z is like new. moral of my story ? spend a little extra get a better case or holster etc, stay away from chepos.
i have some discoloration on the gray plastic on the sides of the keyboard. The demo unit at our t-mobile also has it too.
I have no discoloration on my phone what so ever. But I keep mine in a sleeve style case. I have had out since launch. In my opinion, u won't get much better build quality then this phone. At least not on an android.

My wife has red discoloration on the corners of her G2. Hers is from a new red purse she got. It has a little pocket that her phone fits in and I believe the dye leached into the plastic.
My G2 has no color issues but the film is coming off my battery case as seen in other threads.

LIGHTBULB!!!
Dye your G2 any color you want!! Just buy a cheap chinese napsac in the color of your choice.. use it.. wait a couple months and the cheap dye will be on your phone!
Aswell as a healthy dose of lead and melamine..!

iv had mine since it was released and i dont have it in any kind of case, im pretty carefull with my stuff.
i use it every day and have dropped it a couple of times. i have no discoloration or scratches.
same thing with my "z" but its not a " carring case" issue
I have red coloration on the corners near the track pad
I did contacted clove.co.uk where I bought it and they said that they contacted the HTC and they said that there is no red base plastic used and it's not the coating coming off and that was caused by some external contact. Well, I carried it in the jeans pocket made of dark red fabric, but is that really extreme conditions to dye the coating that easy? I don't think so.
No issues with mine, I luv it.
Have 3 different cases and no issues.
Hello people
Since I'm not getting a new device yet, I decided to get a new case for my senny. Now, I love the wallet/book style cases but not the ones like the PDair case, I want something with a full "spine" (the thingy which connects the back and front cover, apologies but I can't find the english word).
To be more precise, I'm looking for something like this, -not- like this.
Now, for the tricky part, charging capabilities. I want the case to have a small hole so I can charge the device while inside the case with the cover closed.
(I could always get a normal one and cut a hole through it but I'll probably ruin it)
Does such a case even exist? I've been searching for this for over a month on ebay and amazon and haven't found anything.
Thank you in advance

I just caught this thread.
If you haven't done so,I would buy the first case and have a shoe repair punch a nice neat hole through the spine for the charging cable.
They'd probably charge a few bucks at most to punch the hole.
That would work or a mechanic's gasket hole punch would do a neat job.
I am planning to buy Motorola Moto G flip cover.
I found at several places that the magnet in flip cover is very powerful and it messes with phone compass (magnetometer).
I need to know after removing the flip cover (may be after 2-4 months of usage) can I calibrate the compass back to normal or is permanently damaged to repair at our own.
And what are the other side effects of using that cover.
Please help me in choosing a cover
I never uses flip cover with my moto g, I know Flip cover has issues but I don't think it will damage your magnetometre, do a simple test download a compass app from play store use it, note the direction with with flip cover on your phone, remove the flip cover, restart your phone, assuming that you don't change your phone location soo much test the directions once again, results will tell you the story, I love my official moto grip cover because it protects my phone from all possible ways or if you want more security u can also try Amzer 96960 Hybrid Kickstand Cover

I personally found more usable a good tpu case that covers all the edges and buttons with a nice leap around the screen. It makes the phone more accessible, there's no way can damage the phone and protect it from scratches and falls. Also you don't need to mess with a thing flapping all over, that may wear off during time and usage. One last thing that I still didn't figure out: how do people takes picture with flip covers on their phones?

I dont want to purchase and test it if it is useful or not, if anyone already using can tell the pros and cons.
I already have a good cover for my Moto G, Flipkart offered me some points in my wallet so I was planning for another one, but I wanted to know the feedback before buying it.
Anyways the flipcover is out of stock now, and I am not in a mood to buy it from ebay.
Thank You.

TPU case is good but it takes the beauty of phone, I never used those flip covers and was planning to buy one because retailer gave me points to shop with them.
I saw people taking picture with flip covers on their phones and it looks real funny to see that.

This Amzer 96960 Hybrid Kickstand Cove will make my Moto G a real bulky device and will take all its beauty.
Better I stick to the one which I already have.
The neodymium magnet, which holds the cover is inside the display frame and not in the cover itself, you've been misled.
The metal plate that's in the front of the flip cover is very small and it's hard to do anything to the magnetic field sensor in open or closed position. The only way eventually is if you flap the cover all day long.
About calibration, if you need to do that, just rotate the phone in circles few times over each of its axises.

First of all, I like your signature, it stands correct 99.9% times. Can I use the same as mine.
And about the flip cover I have dropped the plan for now as the covers are out of stock.
Thanks anyways.

I see, well that cover its certainly good if you can get it sometime in the future, when they restock.
"Also don't forget to press the Thanks button if I helped you, coz I post here only for that reason, helping others is not important, just a side effect." - just a joke, but sadly very real one.
My signature is just a text on a public forum, feel free to use it as it is or as you find fit.

Here is the result, Finally!!!
I checked it a friend who is ownig s Moto G and Flip Cover from Motorola.
The phone with Motorola flip cover was showing a different North and phone without Motorola flip cover was showing diffrent North (I guess correct north) when both phones were kept side by side.
Removed the flip cover calibrated the compass and same test was done again and both phones were showing same North.
Also the magnet in the flip cover is very strong. I am dropping my plan for flip cover now even if it is available for free, because putting a powerful magne on the phone that too 24x7 may not be good idea.
