Ok so i ordered my 32GB Touchpad from amazon.com and i guess they will send me the US version which will include the american charger. So i was wondering if its possible to switch it to the EU version.

It's just a USB charger so, in theory, you should just be able to buy one and use the supplied micro USB lead.
That's the theory but I've just tried it and got some unusual results.
The supplied HP charger is 5.3v 2A. I used a cheap Chinese USB charger that I got from eBay that says it produces 5.0v 1A. It charged the battery but if you try and use the tablet while it's on charge you get deadspots on the screen, random multitouch gestures (most noticable in the browser) and slight freezes and stuttering. If I unplug the touchpad and run it on battery it works perfecty and if I use the supplied HP charger it also works flawlessly.
Moral of the story - make sure the charger you use is man enough for the task. HP sell a travel charger kit, you might be easier to just get that.
That's probably because the rating is at 1A. Plus you did say it's a "cheap chinese charger".
Just use any decent USB charger that matches the power requirement of the unit and it should suffice.
Why don't you try getting a converter? All mobile products come with universal chargers that support 110v to 220v

Hi,
my european HP Touchpad-Powersupply hast 5V/2Ah so a normal USB-Power-Supply wouldnt have enough power.
But you could convert, at your own risk, a 5V power supply from a active USB-Hub to power the USB-A Connector

If you are in the UK, Maplin have USB chargers rated at 5V 2.1A that should do the trick.

I got mine yesterday and it seems the microusb cable has a short in it...as it doesnt work properly and wont charge. I tried using my old BB microusb and it wouldnt work becasue its a type A microusb, and the HP Touchpad uses a type b micro usb. I am having it replaced under warranty but I went ahead and ordered a few more from meritline, and they are easily found all over the web. For right now im using my old evo microusb until the new ones arrive.
Make sure you get a microusb 2.0 type b if you plan to replace the cable.

Don't worry I have like 10 of them from DX, all working perfectly
In fact this is not converter, what it does it simply change a shape of flat to round (for 220v), rest is done by the charger itself, as it support 220v...

Most of my other USB chargers are exactly 5.0V and only change the Amperage... usually from 0.5 to 1A but there the more the merrier, right?
This is the first one with >5.0V
Can i charge my other stuff with it? i'm still scared to plug my nexus one to it... always thought usb specs were 5.0-sharp-Volts.

It'll work just fine. The USB specification is for power output devices to deliver and for consumer devices to accept voltage between 4.75v and 5.25v.

My Desire HD uses a 0.5 A charger, the Touchpad will take 118 weeks to charge.
I also bought an American Touchpad, i'm just going to use a UK to US adaptor with the supplied HP charger.

I picked up one of these at Best Buy the other day and it works great for my N1, my girlfriend's MT3G, and my iPod. Basically, since most devices come with a USB cord that can be used to charge the device, it's a VERY good investment
I am using my old chargers and cables from my Motorola Q9h and it's working perfectly.

Something to think about: make sure, or TRY to get a charger that does 5v 1a...otherwise it's stuck slow-charging, basically just keeping it alive. Most el-cheapo chargers are 5v .5a.
I'm using a belkin micro car charger with the usb cable that came with my phone. Rated at 5v 1a, and it works very well.
I had a crappy old one that I was using and if my phone was dying, it would basically just keep my phone on, I would have to leave it plugged in for a long time to get it charged up. The new 1a unit will actually give me a decent charge, and I don't have to wait an hour.
I usually shop with these guys and rate of which items have gone wrong was so far 0%, so lucky for me.

The reason why, btw, is that the USB port doesn't supply enough power for charging. This is fairly common with tablets. 500mAh is the max for USB, I believe?
If you go the Radio Shack route, the AC Adapter is a MPA-630. Output is +12V.

Not all motherboards, such as the Gigabyte model I have. It can output 1.5A from the USB ports and can be set to charge 'iPads'.
I have used the gtabs full size usb port to charge my ecig battery a few times, but the charger is listed at 5v 500ma

Maybe the auto adapter would work in Europe. I don 't know what type of electrical systems European automobiles have. But I used to have an old Triumph motorcycle (British), and had a positive ground system.

The power supply is rated 120/240 volt and 50/60 cycles, so a simple plug adapter should work. I do that with all of my stuff when in England.

I got the kodak charger from ebay for $15 and it is exactly the same as the original stock charger .
I also have Radio shack enercell ( #270-052 ) auto charger ($16) (with universal 1000mah wall converter as a traveling charger ($10).
Looking through Amazon and Radio Shack online, couldn't find this. Does Viewsonic sell these directly? If not, any Amazon based version y'all can recommend?

The charger will work in Europe because it is rated 120/240 volt and 50/60 cycles. I have taken mine on my last trip and used an adapter with no problems at all.

I could not find any but I tried the ones for my Blackberry charger and they did fit in the slot but not perfectly. Sorry to say I didn't try it because I had an adapter.
Bought a dual charger for the car, has 1 amp and 2.1 for devices like tables. When I plug the Tab Plus in the tablet gives me an X for charging and doesn't charge. Tried different cables. Any ideas??? GT 6210

So only Samsung OEM car and wall chargers work??? I even trid a lower amp charger in the house figuring it would just take longer to charger, and still get the X if it's not the Samsung wall charger.
2.1a is plenty to charge it, but as you said, only Samsung chargers will do it. It is highly annoying.

Interesting to note:
When the Tab/Tab+ is connected to an HDMI adapter (either dongle or stand version: I have both) the tab will draw power from ANY USB source and show it as charging. A generic 2.1 amp charger will add to the battery even while playing MAME on my HDTV using a BT PS3 controller while WIFI is enabled (a 500mA charger works too but cant keep up....in other words it will deplete your battery...just slower). The same generic charger will NOT charge my Tab+ when NOT connected to the HDTV/HDMI adapter.
It's charging, but it's only pulling 450mA. This is a safety measure to prevent pulling too much current from a computer USB port.
This is nuts. If it charges through an HDMI cable??It charges slowly through a computer??? I'm surprised nobody has come out with a "charge only" cable so it works generically. Obviously some of the pins can be left off or crossed to trick it.

Eureka! I grabbed an old USB version 1 extension cable (female to Male) and plugged it on the end of my Tab sync power cable. Plugged it into Tab OEM wall charger, worked fine. Then I plugged it into a generic wall charger for phones (1amp) and IT IS CHARGING!
Still won't work on car adapter, tried 1 amp, 2.1amp, and 2.2 amp.
Ordered USB 2 extensions to test.
Have you made sure that the plug will charge something else? Make sure it will charge your phone or something. I know those dual micro-chargers have to be pushed with a lot more force than you would think. I would also check both ports on the dual charger. Usually only one of the ports will output 2.1 amps while the other only outputs 1 amp.
Quick semi-related charger question: are all Samsung Tab chargers the same? Or, at least, are they cross-compatible for charging?
I've got an imported tablet, and it's charging very slowly with a UK adaptor (which was supplied by the import company... had been expecting more, I have to say).

here's mine..its tied with my extra sync cable.. these adapters are fragile and one of the plastic clips broke.. secured it with a zip tie and now even when i dropped it several times the white case stays secure.. i bring it with me all the time...
Have you guys tried these adapters both on AC and Car 2.1amps WITH the Tab? The references I see above are for phone.

Its a tiny bit picky with a case on, and if you put the phone down on the white LEG panel at the top, but otherwise brilliant.

Just had to say I feel your pain... I don't understand why the manufacturer decided to fit an LED that lights up the entire room to show the thing is charging
I'm using it as a stop gap until the Orb is released here, I use to have a Galaxy Nexus with the desk top dock, really miss not being able to tell the time from a glance during the night.

Its also more than a USB 2 port can give, they are limited to 500mA normally.
USB3 can give that kind of output.

Hmmm...fortunately I have a USB 3 port, would that mean I'll get a similar charge time as using the mains version?
Damn, sadly my memory failed me and it seems USB3 can only give 900mA.

There's a semi-circle of tiny LEDs at the top marked D1-D12. I tried desoldering D9 and D10 but in the end I just ripped them out with tweezers because my soldering skills are seriously lacking. After putting it all back together surprisingly it still worked and it doesn't light up anymore! The LEDs must have been connected in series to each other but in parallel to the rest of the charger.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you open up your qi wireless charger and electrocute your cat or something. Follow these instructions at your own risk.
EDIT: Nope it still lights up, just less so. Why won't it die!?
I have the latest tasker beta setup to vibrate when wireless charging goes on and off, makes it easy to tell when its working when you can't see the leds

If the specs are right it looks like the USB one puts out ~3.5W vs the more normal 5W, so is a bit slower.
Its not really clear why it is lower power (even if the losses are higher a 1.5 or 2A 5v charger would be powerful enough). Maybe the limit is whatever step up conversion they use to increase the 5v for transmission.
Google's help site says the nexus 4 charger is 1.2A (I thought it was 1.5), but this should still work fine with this Qi charger. If it turns out it can put out more like 5W then you would be slightly better off with a 2A charger.
I am quite tempted by this USB one anyway because it is a bit more flexible - you can use other sources such as batteries or even a pc. Most of the other ones (besides the nokia) use 19v so you cant use much besides the included mains adapter.
Anyway, thanks for the links in this thread - I had been considering buying the same one as you but from mobilefun for more money.

It's a little fussy about positioning and it might take a few seconds before it "notices" the phone but yes it works with the bumper
This charger does NOT work with the Rearth Ringke Fusion case.

Do you know if there is any difference with ECB-DU4EWE?
It`s a number that is on my oem cable plastic wrap "ECB-DU4EWE" and "SW1FA06VS E" and the q-code printed on it is "GH39-01580A" , I suppose any of these numbers will give you the same cable, getting an oem and not a fake is another matter.
I just measured my cable it is 1.5m
I bought an cable off Amazon UK using "ECB-DU4EWE" when i bought my T800 just before Christmas, it is around 6" shorter but is the same quality and charges just as fast as the original one, I checked my Amazon account to buy another, but all i get was a different seller and the cable was black not white, so i am not buying that.
As i said, I have bought a few cheap cables from 1.5ft to 10ft and i will see how fast they charge my T800 when they are delivered, if we cannot find an oem cable, then maybe i can find a quality alternatives.

The link below is an explanation on why cable length and quality can lead to slow charging speeds, it`s a bit had on the head, so it`s not for everybody, but some might find it interesting i did, but i think i will have to read it a few times to understand it fully.

I bought a couple of the "mains wall sockets" with usb charging sockets built in, there is a lot of rubbish (slow charging) and dangerous version from china, I know this because i bought a couple and the earth connection did not connect to the earth pin on an UK plug (which is very dangerous) i got a full refund after i told the seller about my problem.
So i decided to do some research and buy some good quality usb mains sockets, I found an UK eBay seller, selling some with good specification and UK certified and , so i bought two sets of 2.4amp usb mains sockets, see photo below, I have seen 1.0 amp usb sockets all the way to 4.8 amp (supposedly i have not been able to find any) the amps are shared between two usb sockets.
So i installed them and tried charging my Tab S 10.5" and i think it was charging at 1.6amp according to (galaxy charging current app) after about 30min the charging stopped, the usb wall socket had shut itself down (died) but after 10min it came back to life, but i continued to die when charging my Tab S after charging any-ware between 5-30min , my other usb mains wall socket worked fine, so i contacted the seller and they said they had sold thousands and had only had five faulty ones, so they sent me a replacement.
While i was waiting for the replacement, I bought an "usb power meter" £6 and an "usb switchable 1amp/2amp load" £1 from eBay to test my replacement wall socket.
So i tested the replacement and it worked fine, I tested it for 1hr at 2amp my usb meter showed 1.9amp but close enough so it passed.
Now i had an "usb power meter" i can check how much power my Tab S 10.5" is pulling from the usb wall socket when using different micro usb cables.
The quality of the micro usb cable and the length determines how fast your Tab S will charge, I have measured 400ma with cheap poor quality cables up to 1740ma with the usb cable that came with my Tab S.
If you are looking to buy some "usb mains sockets" a good placed to buy is Amazon for your country, as the reviews (if real) are the best way to judge which one to buy, some usb wall sockets the usb port works fine for a few weeks then dies, this seems to be an common fault, so buy from somewhere you can easily get a refund/replacement.
Anyway the photo below is of an UK (dual gang usb mains socket)

I recently gave a try with a belkin usb cable from a friend of mine, and it charges at 1400mA, pretty much what I had with a huawei cable,
With my default cable, it charges around 500mA.
I didn't try any wall usb socket, but I don't know much things about how to install it and stuff, so i'll probably pass this for the moment

By Default cable do you mean the Samsung cable that came with your Tab S ??
I am charging at 1750mA with the cable that came with my Soshine usb power bank, according to my usb power meter on my T800, the software power meter are not very reliable but better than nothing.
I found an app called "nova battery tester 1.37mb" it`s not on GP any more you have to search for it, It tests your battery capacity it take approx 1hr30m and it puts you display brightness at 100% i tried it on my old Samsung S3 and HTC EVO 3D and it said my battery`s capacity was 100% but your device needs to be supported, it checks online for the specs, I have not tried it on my T800 it is most likely not compatible.

Yes, I meant the one that came with the tab
With my original cable, I can charge around 1500mah.
With a compatible cable like Remax, it's only around 1300-1400mah.
The worse I've tried is around 500mah.
What makes an original cable charge faster btw?
Basically the original cable has thicker better quality power wires, have a read of the link below.

Ahhh... But wouldn't high quality branded compatible cables have similar qualities?
Yes, but you will need to try them to be certain, Stick to short cables, the longer they are the slower they charge this happens to even the best quality cables, read the link i posted.

I am not sure why this discussion even exists. Just buy/use any brand name micro-usb cable (anker, monoprice, etc). My T800 worked well with all micro-usb cables except for those silly cables that came with the charger for a set of flimsy wireless headphones.
I have my T800 in an hard case and this makes it difficult to connect the standard cable as it`s now 5mm inside the case, So i bought one of those magnetic cables and i have been using it for well over a years and it`s great, I don't even need to look, It pulls itself into position with a satisfying click and i get an 1.69A charge rate.
Not all brands magnetic cables give a good charge rate, so read the reviews before you buy and from somewhere you can return it, if you get a poor charge rate.
