[Q] Samsung Focus 7720 RTM issue. - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently today, I've been having a problem with my RTM 7720 Samsung Focus update.
The problem is that the phone glitches for like two seconds and then the 'slide to power off' pops up. I slide back up obviously, but then my phone just crashes and turns off.
Triggering it, everytime I send a text message, and turn off the screen quick, that glitch happens. It has happened to me 5 times already, but I have the habit of turning the screen off right away after clicking send.
Any solutions to this? Has any other Samsung Focus user had this problem?

*Bump* Anyone got anything?

Focus here, and I can't repeat your issue. I sent a text and immediately hit the power button to turn off the screen. Pressed "send" and immediately pressed power. No issues. Sorry. You tried restarting? Or hard reset and restore to prior saved state through zune?

1.3 focus here on 7712, no issues at all.

i can't recreate your problem either (rev 1.3 on 7720)
are you using an sd card?

Im running 7720 on my Focus and it has been happening to me also. It mainly happens when plugged into the charger and i put the phone to sleep. The other thing mine has been doing is that sometimes when i go to power it back on, the samsung boot logo pops up and it will shut itself down right away again. Im not using an SD card or the beta software since i do have the full RTM of mango.

So far, no issues on mine either. Have you tried hard resetting or maybe a whole reinstall?

Maybe problems with a specific firmware version?

Well, it hasn't been happening anymore anyway. My phone hasn't restarted or been turned off at all since last week. :x

went about a week without problems but now my power button isn't responding at all. and i have restored it before.
To try and fix the issue i restored down to 7390 and the problem was still occurring. So I took my phone to ATT and had the same problem occur while there. They exchanged it for a brand new phone.

T-Mobile Wing Weird Bootloader

Hello Guys,
I started to have problems with my wing and end up in three-color bootloader screen. I can tell you that I am not playing around with my phone. I do not even install any software not to risk its basic phone functionality since I am using this phone as a business phone. So, no crazy rom flash or etc has been done prior to this problem.
My phone started to have problems with answering calls last week. When it was ringing, it was keep ringing and I was not able to take the call even though I was pressing every possible buttons on the phone. It was locking.
I noticed that phone was locking the buttons too. So, I selected "do not lock buttons when the device is off". But, this does not have any effect. Phone was keep locking my buttons.
Last night, I noticed that my phone was unresponsive once again as usual, I soft reset the device, and it booted to the three color screen (I think you guys call this bootloader screen?) where it says "IPL 4.26.0002" and "SPL 4.26.0000". Tried to soft reset probably another 10 more times. same thing...
I took out the battery, went to sleep. Put back the battery in the morning, it booted to the OS and phone is running. But none of the hard buttons were working. It also hangs up the incoming call after first ring. I soft reset the device once again and it went back to the three-color screen.
I went to the Tmobile website, and found that there is an upgrade ROM. I downloaded and ran that program. It said that it installed it to the device successfully, and then the device rebooted itself. Guess what, back to the three-color screen.
I have been reading your forum since morning, and read a lot about brick phones etc. I tried couple of the techniques for recovering brick phones, but nothing helped. Hopefully, someone here can tell me what is going on, even though if the answer is to throw the device to the trash.
Additional Observations
It looks like nobody is interested
I have other observations.
- When "do not lock buttons" is checked, phone starts acting even more weirder. it generates keystrokes by itself. Camera starts taking photos.
- If the battery of the phone is out at least an hour (I don't know why), phones boots fine. If you soft reset at the moment, it will always goes back to the three color bootloader.
Can this be a virus?

Raphael Auto-Restart Issue

Hey guys. I'm running NFSFAN 0111 on my CDMA Raphael, and I've come across the strangest problem. The phone had been freezing pretty regularly for a couple days and then it started resetting itself. Basically, I start it up and ~30 seconds later it vibrates (indicating the restart). Sometimes it even goes black and completely unresponsive to me pushing the power button. I saw a thread below with a similar problem (but it was completely gone), so my question is if this is a hardware problem or a software problem (since I'm running NFSFAN, not Energy). Also, I would update but I'm concerned that it will restart during the update and brick itself. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I've had this exact problem this past weekend... Automatically restarting and freezing...
I think it might be power/gps related.
I would hard reset and flash back to stock ROM , then flash back to NATF or whatever.

Search/Quick Search Button going crazy!

Anybody experiencing the "quick search" box coming up at random. I've had this issue since flashing to JH7 (both the unofficial samfirmwares version and 'real' version).
It literally goes crazy, goes to the quick search screen and blinks like 5 times, then stays on the quick search screen, until i press back.
I had this problem with the home button on JF6 and it went away in JH3 but now appears to be back for me in JH7
Ever since I left stock my search screen randomly pops up. I truly can't find a pattern. I used to think I was accidentally hitting it but I've seen the search screen pop up while the phone was just sitting there while plugged into the computer.
I've gone days without it happening and I've seen it happen multiple times within a day. It's very odd and bothersome!
I have the problem as well and I'm not rooted so I think its just a issue with or without root

I think it's a hardware issue.
First phone I got, has this problem with "home" button, sometimes 10-15 times/minute. Changed after 2 weeks, home button is fine but "search" button coming up at random, and also has random shut down issue (4 shut downs within a hour). Changed again, now this phone is perfect, no shut down anymore, no search button issue.
BTW, all three phones run stock rom, not rooted, update to JH7 yesterday and so far no problem at all.
i'm the OP, and now it happens less than it was before. haven't changed ROMs--been running Cog 2.2 Beta 7, but this has been happening ever since JH7.
i notice it gets super crazy when using the stock browser. what i've done is seriously press it manually very hard when it happens, until it goes to voice search. then do it again and again. thinking maybe the button is stuck down there.

[Q] Back button keeps blinking(and vibrating)

So my Nexus S 4g been mighty stable, til this morning. i check my bank account on my phone then all the sudden, the back button starts blinking like crazy, and everything goes back if i open anything, and the vibrate feedback can be felt like rapid fire. So I hold the button so I can actually power off the phone into recovery.
Its still blinking, so I hold it down so it sends only one signal, so i can change my kernel back from Netarchy 1.3.7 to 1.3.6 where it still does it. Repeat to Mathkids. I also wiped the cache partition, and dalvik cache for this one. havent tried stock yet.
Anyone ever have this problem. Its still doing it. Thinking about going to stock and returning phone.
And if I do return it, do I have to unroot, and relock the bootloader?
tried stock kernel, did a few backups, formatted everything agian, turned back to stock and it hasnt stopped.
did notice tho if my hand or thumb got close to the back button, but didnt touch it, it would stop blinking. maybe it needs a heat sensative calibration? it wont stop flickering no matter what
It seems to be related to this issue: www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=49e8ca84071d51a4&hl=en
Im having exactly the same problem, but with the searh button. In the Google thread a Google employee has replied, and according to him they're working on a fix (software related). This was posted a couple of weeks ago, i bet the fix is issued in 2.3.5, set to rls in the upcoming days.
For me the search button flickering seems to be related to how long the screen has been on, i.e. how warm it is. I can use it perfectly for 20-30min, but then its unusable for the next five. I discovered the relationship between screen on time and the flickering like a day ago and it may be incorrect. The Google employee says it is a software issue, but i dont hold my hopes high.
I was having this problem with the search button.
I goofed up something on the phone and ended up reflashing it back to stock like 5-6 times in the course of a night.
Ever since then, I havent had the issue pop up even once.
I also have read that it has to do with the NFC contacts on the battery cover. Someone was able to supposedly fix this by preventing the contacts from touching their corresponding contacts on the phone.

[Q] Problems - Reboots and Wifi

Hi,
After switching from my old trusty Desire, I'm beginning to regret getting the One s!
Anyone else having reboot problems? Mine hard restarts at least twice a day even if left completely idle (as it just has having been on charge for the last hour).
Wifi - Stays connected to access-points long, long gone. Was connected to my home according to the settings screen 5 hours after I left home. Data then stops flowing. Solution is to turn off and back on wireless.
HTC gave me a rather poor response. I have exactly the same apps (bare the new sense) on the new phone as the old, less even.
Anyone else having the same issues? I guess it's a software issue, but I want to return it if it's a faulty handset.
Thanks.
I think you should do a factory reset and then try the phone for a day whithout doing any changes to it. If it still restarts you should really send it back.

i have exactly the same problem. sometimes my device reboots without doing nothing. i had this on my black device and on my grey device after i gave the black one back. i contacted htc and the woman at the chat support just said it is a software problem and i should do a factory reset. to do that i should remove the battery (lol). because of that i think htc-employees are really unqualified.
same issue with wifi here.it stays a few hour connected without any problem. then it disconnects and doesn't reconnect.only if i turn it off and on again. It doesn't appear evertime wifi is on but it is annoying.i hope htc will fix this soon

Certainly sounds like we have the same issues. let's hope HTC are listening and fix soon.
I have also some reboots. I think at least twice a week. And always when the phone is on standby. I hope also that htc will fix this soon =)
Not only with phones, but look at Windows or games, they also have bugs at start, but with time most of them get fixed
Mine also only reboots in standby. In my pocket, on the desk, etc. It's never done it during use, and I do use it a lot.
WiFi problem is noted. An annoyance, but no deal breaker as long as I have the WiFi toggle on the home screen. Guess it will be fixed when developers get their hands on the kernel source.
Had the phone for one week come Friday, and had one shutdown (not reboot) this far, and that happened as I was surfing multiple tabs in dolphin. Guess the phone ran out of operating space and had to clean itself out in a bad way
Got mine today so will let you know.

Had the same reboot issue since 2 days (at least once a day). I have the phone since 10 days. The last program I installed was "adfree". I couldn't use it as I have no root rights yet but didn't uninstall it. Finally I uninstalled it yesterday and no more self reboot since. Hope this helps.
I've had the reboot problem on several occasions. Twice the 'One S' has even got stuck in a reboot loop (after login the phone restarts as soon as I try to start an app or report the error). This problem seems to be related to some problematic app running in the background constantly restarting itself and not the actual phone or ICS.
SOLUTION (worked for me):
1) Reboot the phone.
2) When 'HTC One S splash screen' appears hold down 'volume down' to enter safe mode. (Note: If you hold 'volume down' while powering on the device you may end up in a different mode. Don't panic just choose 'reboot' or 'power down' by navigating with power button and volume buttons and try again.)
3) The text "Safe mode" will appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
4) Login and uninstall any app that may be causing problems. Reboot the phone and see if the problem has disappeared, if not repeat 1-4.
Hope it helps!
Just wanted to update this thread on my reboot problem. Since the OTA update the other day, I've not had a single reboot, yet. The wifi connection / disconnection problem seems gone as well.
this is happening to me as well. Once I turn on wifi/ wifi calling the phone searches for a network then freezes up and reboots.. it keeps rebooting until I turn off wifi. This all started for me when I got the OTA 1.78 update. No idea how to fix it. blah!
That's odd. I can confirm that since the update (more than a week now?), I've had only 1 reboot whilst in 'Dolphin'. I was getting them at least daily before even when not using the phone. It's reboot in standby. All my wifi issues have gone. Wifi now seems to work perfectly.
I use the phone quite heavily. I'm pretty convinced that the update has fixed or at least significantly improved the issues I was experiencing. Let's hope it didn't break thinks for others who were not having the issues in the first place!
<oh, and btw - I do use internet calling (only in the last week though since the update)>
