Regrets??? - LG Optimus 3D

[email protected],
Are you regret n the buy of this phone? I do! This phone makes me mad. Is such a buggy piece of crap is unbelievable. There is almost no custom Roms battery life sucks even without using s3d, apps aren't working proper and i have to reboot this frekin phone after a while to work properly.
I can say this is a epic fail in my eyes. Not once had I this much of problems with a smartphone.
Unfortunately I paid a premium price for this crappy fon.
I really hope gb will iron out those problems or else I'll get f$%@#n mental.

who is "GB"?
heard that name a couple of times but still dont know.
And well...i trade my evo 3d in tommorow and get the optimus 3d.
The evo3d surely isnt a better device. lag and speed drops all the way, everywhere. even pinch to zoom in the browser lags...and i need to wait everywhere...even wait 1 - 2 secs before the keyboards pops up.
And it didnt sync my emails properly.
Wanted to buy the galaxy s2 but well....i DID love the evo 3d's 3d screen. its nicer then on the o3d because resolution, but that means its not far off.

Glad I've visited from s2 section was gonna go from s2 to optimus 3d it looks superb on reviews on you tube but is it as good as they make out, I like to be up to date on my smart phones but might stick with s2 what do you users think.?

Hi mate. You really seem to have problems with your O3D. Have had mine for more than 1 month and its incredible. I had a SGS2 before and i just can't miss anything from that.I made my own custom ROM (you should do that too) and it works amazing, fast and stable.I have all Gameloft 3D games and they work just better in 3D than in the SGS2 in 2D wich needed its GPU to be locked at max to get descent FPS.In my opinion the LG O3D is the only phone out there that i could say "WOWWW" after playing with.Battery life is really bad i agree, but have you tried the other dual core phones ? they are pretty terrible as well. We gonna get GB soon and im pretty sure that the phone is gonna get a lot better, FROYO dont work properly on dual core devices. As soon as we get GB Im gonna start developing again, dont want to waste time with Froyo.

No regrets what so ever, its so super fast,no lag at all...love it !!!

Haven't noticed any major bugs with the phone, sure the software is far from the best but not that bad IMO and LG have released patches.
As for Custom ROMs, really what do people think? the phone is extremely new, released like 2 months ago and not even out in the US yet, CM is under development, going pretty fast but it still takes time, it's not like they can just pull it out of a hat, it takes hard work and many hours, in this case given by Ricardo who does this on his free time and not only for the O3D but other hardware as well, expecting a massive amount of CustomROMs within 2 months seems a bit ... After CM is released you'll probably see much more custom ROMs appearing.
Battery life is low yes (not really a surprise if you'd read anything about the phone before getting it) , much because of the screen but also because of unoptimized code because of new hardware etc. will hopefully get better with new software releases or you could get another battery or portable charger. (Running 3D actually doesn't require that much more battery then running the screen normally, it's the brightness and the screen tech that needs a fair amount of power).
If you could be more specific with what problems you have exactly people might be able to help you, just screaming bloody murder wont help much.
For ex.
What apps aren't working properly? And how aren't they working?
What are you doing when you have to reboot the phone to get it to work?
Got any custom apps like a custom lockscreen like agile lock or a custom home app?
Have you tried any battery saving apps?
Also if you haven't had problems like this before with a Smart phone you are either very lucky or you've never bought a extremely new smart phone, all new releases got a few problems here and there, the worst problems usually get sorted about 6 months after first release, compared to my other phones this one has had surprisingly few major issues for being a new phone and that's even more impressive when you realise that it's a new chipset for phones.

I had an HD2 with CM7 when this phone arrived (so I'm not a newbie here). It's for testing 'cause iPhone 4 is a bit expensive so where I work are in search of a good high end working phone.
The O3D has all the requisites out of the box but one: battery. I had it in a construction area and it barely reached 10 hours of normal use plus some gps.
About the hangs and apps that don't work... I only had a problem with Tasker, and it seems it was my problem and not the phone.
IMHO it's a good phone. Maybe your unit was defective?

Someone tell what or who GB is or il open a topic lol...

I do regret it at moment, having come from a galaxy s with custom roms and absolute crazy battery life..at moment I'd swap it for a galaxy II..BUT am waiting for the october update and more custom roms, so it's still early days for this phone so gonna stick with it as slowly it seems to be moving forward...

@borgqueen the gb they are refering to is gingerbread

Lol I guess I created the topic on a weak moment. But seriously I hate sometimes this fon. Although I got a battery pack with higher capacity the battery dies prematurely. And no I didn't try any other dual core fones but heard that the galaxy 2 has much better battery life.
And I did had the newest smartphones such as htc desire etc.
So be more specific my issues are
1. YouTube player is acting out sometimes and if I fastforward then there seems to be weird color distortion
2. Can't change the bloody user agent in dolphin browser (might be the browser tough heard some fons have this bug) and also sometimes dolphin browser isn't reacting at all or any other browser until I reboot the fone? So definitely not browser related
3. Watching online flash content is a nightmare and this could be froyo related as on any gb fon I tried there where no issues non so ever .
4. Battery life is horrendous
5. Battery life is horrendous
6. Fon doesn't react some times at all and i have to force reboot
I think the fon has great potential but the software is so not in tune with the fon. So as I said I really hope GB will solve some issues here.
By the way I really don't want to offend anyone but it's just my opinion on things so don't fanboy me )

Dual core phone actually require less battery than single core, but the difference is not that big, SGS2 has a Super AMOLED+ screen and a little bit more power in the battery = more time on a charge. (but from what I've heard they also have some problems with some units magically draining like 30% of battery in mere minutes, only hear say for me though so don't quote me on that)
Haven't watched that much Youtube on the phone but seems more like a network or app problem than the phone?
Sure that Dophin browser don't have a problem with the phone and are affecting other browsers? I've used FF and Original, actually like the Original best and I've not experienced that the browser stopped responding, some apps that are not working correctly can affect other apps, Agile Lock for some reason killed my SIM unlock app and made it almost impossible to use the phone, removed it and haven't had any problem with the SIM card after that.
Nightmare in what way? Laggy?
Battery life is pretty bad, true, not much you can do about it, use a lower brightness on your screen, try out CPU tuner and limit the phone, I've actually got my phone running MAX 600Mhz instead of 1Ghz, gives me about an hour of extra active usage and haven't found anything that really suffers because of the slower speed. Hopefully software updates will help the battery life, my old Hero had like 6hours usage when I first got it, when I retired it that was up to 24-48hours. Also if you need it, check out portable charger on Ebay, I got mine for ~$30 from Hong Kong, 5000mAh just plug in and charge via USB, with the 5V 1A output it fully recharges my phone from 0-100% in just under 3 hours and with the extra mAh you got like 2days away from the outlet, not ideal but works
Or get the 3500mAh battery if you prefer that.
Is it in sleep mode it stops reacting? That's some software glitch that LG has in their 2.2 release, only seems to affect some people noticeably, LG O2X has the same glitch and a nightly not to long ago for CM7 on the O2X reproduced the problem from what I've read.
Or is it while using it that it just stops responding?

I'll try now few other roms out there. No the fon freezes while using the fon actively. I got the problem with sleep too. Anyways there is no way other than wait for a proper cm7 release. Guess is not that far away, no

I am back on a GS2 and it smokes this phone totally, still have the O3D but I don't use it now, i have come to the conclusion even with the 3D it doesn't make it a good choice over the GS2 its just better in every way.

Hmm i dont regret at all having this phone i had iphone 4 before optimus 3d and i have to say its the best phone i ever have had in all ways...but yeah the battery are a little problem my tip for that take down the quick meny and turn off all data settings like wifi 3g bluetooth after turned off all those settings the battery have lasted for about 2 days and i still have power on it...so no the battery are not the biggest problem here if you do that! and like alot reviews are saying android is leeching data alot therfor it use power turn those off to save battery

This phone is awesome. Anyone who regrets buying it has problems with "grass is greener syndrome" which no amount of coding and tweaking can solve.
The problem is not with the phone. The problem is with your lack of patience and understanding of what is realistic performance and developer support of a brand new device.
Chill out, smoke em if you got em. Most of us will have this phone for a year minimum so there will be plenty of software improvements from both LG and the dev community during that time. LG have already updated like three times. My motorola milestone didnt even get three updates in ITS ENTIRE LIFESPAN.
Be appreciative of what you have.

I totally agree this phone is great. I've only been using it since Saturday, but I'm extremely impressed. It's speedy, responsive. I'm digging 3D photos and gaming. The build quality is excellent. It feels sturdy and not cheap or too plasticky.
As with all phones, there are drawbacks like the battery life, but it's by no means a deal-breaker. It's also relatively easy to improve (Juice Defender, reduced screen brightness, etc.). Also, if I try to open too many games at once it may freeze on occasion, but all of the 3D games are very hardcore, resource-intensive applications so any phone will freak if you push it too far.
I couldn't be happier with it.

Are you happy with LG G2X

I've read post from people that seem to be very anal about there phones and nit pick at every little thing, I sold my thunderbolt and love this fine piece of technology despite some issues like light leakage. I personally still like the phonea lot. Its not to big and not to small, Nvidia hardware a company that is actually using the dualcore processors in its gaming applications through Tegra Zone. If the G2x is good enough for steve aka cyanogen its great for me. Not having to deal with Sense and HTC is even better, I don't even want to bother with Samsung phones and updates LOL.

The software was rushed out the door, but if you remove My Account and WiFi Calling it stabilizes pretty well. I like mine, my wife likes hers (and she's an iPhone fangirl)
Do agree it was rushed out the door but overall worth it . This is, my first non-htc android phone. Previous ones (g1, mytouch slide, g2(wifes)), all were rooted the first week I had em., well still have them to.

Hell yea, I love this phone... It is the most amazing phone I have ever used... And I have used plenty of android phones... I had HD2 (CM7 Nightly), Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S 4g, HTC shift and now G2X.... Somehow I never liked Atrix, and I do not know why. When I held that phone in my hand I did not feel like I am holding a cutting edge technology in my hand....
As for the G2X, best thing about this phone is, it comes with stock android(close enough)... You are free to do whatever you feel like doing with it. It is going to have amazing dev support, IMO it already has.
I do not have much LCD issues now with my phone luckily. (But that after replacing my phone.) I do not use WIFI at all, coz at my place tmob 4G is faster than my wifi.
I do not have random rebooting issue, one reason for that not happening may be that I let my device reboot after 2-3 days just to get my battery cycle. My GPS works fine. Bluetooth works fine though one time I had issue of my phone forgetting profile for my laptop.
I have laucher pro, go launcher ex, adw launcher installed. I have set them up differently according to the days and time... I keep changing them and still my phone never got hung, never rebooted itself, and never slowed down.... There is enough ram and storage for my use... I have almost 150 apps installed..
I have 8-10 hours of battery life after calibrating it with battery calibrator.. My usage is normal.. I keep background sync on for gmail, facebook, twitter, weather and pulse news. I watch 2-2.5 hours of podcast and youtube.. for 45mins - 1 hour I surf web, xda app and market...
In all I love this phone, it runs very very fast and smooth, and for the first time I am able to use all the apps to their full potential. Like in all the launchers, I can now set any animations I like without worrying about phone freezing or slowing down on me....
I love the phone when it is working right, but the battery use is horrendous. It is worse then my 2.5 year old G1 and it's battery was on it's last leg. I have done the factory reset and it seemed to work for a day and then slowly got worse again since last friday.
I'm using the phone about a 1/3rd of what I would with my g1 (out of fear of draining the battery) and the battery burns through quicker then the old phone. Yesterday I watched a 1 minute you tube video, sent 3 texts, opened a few emails, and played 3 turns on wordfued (total of about 1 minute, 1 move each on 3 games). The rest of the time all I got to do was use to monitor the battery, woo hoo, what fun.
I am also getting lots of reboots now (probably 20 total in a week and a half), and a few freezes. This morning the pinch zoom seems to be out of calibration too.
Tmobile is sending me a new phone and I hope it fixes it. My wife's seems to be working fine.
When it is working probably it is awesome, I'm fairly sure it can move around in google maps quicker than my computer!

every tmobile device that had android i had it. i also had the nexus s since release. i was ready to give up on this device but now since cm7 im liking it even more than i expected. stock isnt always so good....for the nexus it was but stock on the g2x had issues with battery life, signal, reboots etc. this is my 3rd device and i have very minimal bleeding and its great from what i use to have. im just looking forward to more roms preferrably one or two sense ones, and ill be a happy camper.
I am very happy with my G2x. There are some minor issues that I have experienced, but nothing that is going to make me want to get rid of the device. This is my 4th attempt at using an Android Phone. I had the T-Mobile MyTouch 4g when it was first released, but I was not a fan.
Then go forward to when the Samsung Galaxy S 4G was released, I got that phone. I returned it after 14 days, and then went and bought the Nexus S. I loved the Nexus S, but it was not the phone for me and I knew it. I had been waiting for the G2x, and since it was released right before my 30 day window was up, I exchanged my Nexus S for it.
I LOVE IT! It is one of the best phones I have ever used. It might not have the best battery life in the world, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the phone itself has a lot of features, and a dual-core processor. I think I will be buying a spare battery, which I do not mind doing as long as the phone works well.
Yes I am happy with this phone. All new phones have bugs. I remember my last phone the Samsung Epic having a cap on the data speed as well as other minor bugs. I have yet to experience a random reboot on this phone.
My phone is:
Rooted
Bloatware removed
ADW Settings used to customize my pages
Juice Defender on Extreme setting
Advance Task Killer used each time before turning off my screen
Switchpro used to put custom widgets on top of my home page.
Wintec 16gb MicroSD class 10
My battery drops 1% in 6 hours from the time I sleep and wake up.
My battery drops about 20-30% in 12 hours of light to moderate use during the day.
I got mine this past Sunday and I love it. No reboots, LCD not a problem. My main issue is that I get zero service (the x) inside my building at work. I would think I would at least get 1 bar since I'm in a "very good" 4G area. When I wake the phone, I have 2 bars, but it goes to zero in about 5 seconds. When I take about 10 steps out of my building, I get 4 bars. I can use wifi-calling while at work, but still haven't decided if I want to keep it. I'm thinking of dealing with it for a month and if necessary, swapping it for the Sensation. But if the reception was better, I would definitely keep it. I much prefer vanilla Android over HTC sense. My wife has no issues whatsoever with hers. Both of ours have a 4/05 date bought at Costco in Overland Park, KS.
I am glad you guys like it, as I am waiting for mine to arrive in these two days.
Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones. I never had a reboot or problems with bleeding. Hardware wise it is perfect for me. Yes, sometimes I get annoyed when I rub my pinky against the usb port, but its all good. Coming from the vibrant I do miss certain features of touchwiz. Especially the smart dialer and contacts app. This stock froyo one is brutal. I feel like i'm ranting now. Well to sum it up, heres what I like and what I don't:
Pros:
1. Cyanogen Support (A nightly already?!)
2. It's only been out for 2 weeks, the xda community is booming
3. Sexy build quality
4. IPS screen...sometimes it feels like an iPhone...is it just me?
5. Speed
6. Vanilla!
7. FFC cough for the girlfriend cough
Cons
1. Screen Accuracy
2. Battery could have been bigger** (maybe a arc reactor would have been nice)
Thats it :O
**Thats what she said.
I loved my phone at first until other issues started to arise... I got it the day before it hit stores... now when unlocking my phone it pauses on a black screen shows me my screen then brings me to the unlock screen... A PAIN and time consuming! My battery is flakey sometimes REALLY good and sometimes sooooooo awful its unthinkable! Today, I called to finally get a replacement... time to unroot and return!
***lmao at that's what she said!***

I really like the device a great deal. However, I am on my third. Calling issues have plagued my previous two. I think it MAY have been an application, or some incompatibility between something(s) I installed. However, this latest one, with most of the same applications does not exhibit the issue.
It is fast, stable, has stock Android, and none of HTC Sense in the way...however, none of Sense's benefits either.

(Q) charge or thunderbolt

OK folks,
I have been a member follower of these groups for a longtime now. I love the android environment. I bought a charge yesterday that is giving me problems. I have not even begun to hack and am having lockups, robot voice, slow response, etc.
I have just factory reset before I take it back but wanted to know what the groups feel about the 2. I will be submitting this same question in the thunderbolt forum as well. Looking for opinions with a reason, please no flaming either device or me. I have read nearly every post under the charge group of forums.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
What were the issues you had with the Charge? Maybe others had the same problem and know of a way to fix things, or a work around?
Overall, I've heard of issues with both devices, but I have heard of more serious problems with the Thunderbolt compared to the Charge. The Thunderbolt is having reboot issues with the latest OTA update, and before that, had significant battery drain problems, with a full charge lasting just a few hours, regardless of use. The other problem, which is semi-manageable is the screen and its washed out look, and I've also heard of light bleed around the edge. The other issue, which I haven't heard as much about recently where times when the Thunderbolt would get stuck in 1X or 3G when in a 4G area.
With the Charge, some users seem to have random battery drain problems. Myself, I haven't noticed it being to bad, but I only just got my phone. Signal bouncing around has been reported to, but so far, when I'm in a 4G area, it stays in 4G unless I send a text or get a call (haven't tried voice/data simultaneously yet), and if I'm in a fringe 4G area, it seems to only pick it up if it is a better signal than 3G. Software may be a downside here to, depending on how you look at it, but so far, this is the best Samsung phone I have used, and best phone overall, despite the current lack of mods (which will be fixed in the coming days/weeks now)
I just picked up a Charge about a week ago after returning the Thunderbolt. I can honestly say if you want a 4G device, the Charge is the better option. I used the Thunderbolt for about six weeks and had way too many issues with it. I won't say that the Charge is problem free, but its minimal in comparison and managable. With the Thunderbolt I had worse battery issues, syncing that wouldn't shut off, terrible signal that would go from 3G to 1X to no service, and reboots multiple times a day. The only problems I've had with the Charge has been Touchwiz and the battery. Touchwiz is an awful launcher but that's what ADW or Launcherpro is for. And the battery life for the Charge is rough, but probably double than what I was getting out of the Thunderbolt. Before these phones came out, I had no faith in either manufacturer when it came to android. Now, some has developed for one. Hope this helps.

I have a thunderbolt too and have and still do have random reboots and battery drain. I also get 1X lock in 3G areas too.
My wife owns the Charge and so far it's nice. I haven't really had it long enough to really compare the two.
How did you return your Thunderbolt after 6 weeks? Or did you just pay full retail for the Charge and ebay the thunderbolt?

I bought my charge yesterday. Came from a tbolt. The tbolt is a piece of **** compared to the charge. ****ty battery. Poor build quality.bluetooth sucks. Screen sucks. And for some reason htc cant seem to send me a good replacement for my original tbolt that randomly died on me. Samsung makes a fine product.

The ONLY thing i preferred on the TB over my Charge was the 256mb of extra memory really does make a difference, everything is that bit snappier on the TB, but the crap battery, poor visible screen when outside, the piss poor signal, the fact it looked just like my mates htc surround windows 7 phone just bigger and finally some of the software is garbage like when it saves drafts and you dont want it to of your half written text, and the fact the browser instead of being able to type and google search appears, you have to delete the http:// that appears everytime, make the charge stand head and shoulders above the HTC, will be interesting to see what this new LG Revolution is like as that seems identical to the charge
Quick edit: But i have to add that when changing over from rfs with the voodoo lag fix could make things even out in speed, im yet to root so i cant answer

I had to take back my first Charge as the vibrate motor was dead The new one though seems to be fine thus far though.
I had the Thunderbolt the first day it came out and returned it on the 14th. I really like the Charge, compared to HTC and Motorola, I think Samsung offers a good blend of things. The media player on this phone f-in ROCKS! The camera is good, much better low light performance than Motorola and offers great controls, and the screen is beautiful. The only thing I absolutely HATE is the **** brown color scheme. I hope that this can be resolved soon and I hope that developers will jump on board and give us a great community of ROM's and support because I think this phone has great potential
I *think* the Charge has dedicated video memory, where the TB doesn't.
So the Charge may only have 512M RAM, but I *think* it has 128M of video memory, where the TB has 768 of shared memory.
Someone chime in and correct me if I am wrong.
I do have both a Charge (wife) and a TB. I think the Charge, even with the Voodoo lag fix, is not as snappy as the TB. Not because of the memory, but because the TB has a bumped processor over the older hummingbird.
angry english said:

Thanks all for the feedback. I still have the Charge and I did a factory reset and most of the issues have resolved itself. I am still looking at the thunderbolt but for now I have the Charge.

Anyone else regret having a Charge?

I got it, hate it. I would get a boinic if it were not for t nexus rumors. Now I am stuck and just waiting

Bionic really? You would want to puke when you see its screen.
Yes. However, I'm not going to do anything util I hear about the nexus. However, I'm not sure how much longer I can take using this pos.
I don't regret getting it at all because I got it free thanks to the fascinate. I'm rather thankful, however I wish the internet wouldn't disconnect so often even on 3g only.
I love it. I don't see why you'd hate it, especially with all these amazing roms available. Only reason I had to exchange mine was due to screen defects.
Sorry to hear. That's disappointing when your phone doesn't work well.
My Charge is flying along with Rooted ROMs and Imoyosen kernel and v6 supercharger and kickass! So far so good since July.
I've only ran GummyCharge. Maybe that's my problem? I am coming from a D1, then DX. Both were great phones. This phone seems slow, ugly, no notification light and poor battery. It also feels cheap in my hand

I'm running Humble 1.6 at the moment. Very smooth. I honestly don't think this phone is ugly; personally I feel it's one of the more futuristic looking phones out there. As for it feeling cheap in your hands, perhaps you should use a case?

I just about thought the same thing...I had issues that.couldn't be resolved...exchanged for a new, this one was freshly sent from Samsung and has superior build quality than before...the battery life has doubled and it doesn't get hot like the 1st one.
Unrooted too.

I don't have any huge problems with the charge. Its not much of an improvement over my old captivate, but it does have a working gps (yay!!!) and most importantly unlimited 4g data Anyone looking at the bionic should definitely play with out in store before plunking down any money for it. Its definitely fast, but the screen is hit or miss. Some people are fine with it, and some are annoyed as hell by it. After using the Charge and then looking at the screen of the captivate I can definitely notice the pentile vs non-pentile displays. There's no other word to describe a pentile screen except grainy. The new phones with amoleds screen though are the ones to watch (just announced Droid RAZR, Droid Prime, Galaxy Nexus etc). Till then, the charge is worth keeping.
Besides not having functional aosp (which I know is coming in time) I do not regret swapping my fascinate out. Its a better phone all around and my only real complaint would be the issues my signal has with stability.

Theres an app called noled, its works just like a notification light. Try it
Poor battery life, on the Charge? Are you using the same phone I am? Battery life on this phone is simply amazing as far as Android goes. Slow? Again, you must be doing it wrong. This is definitely no slower than other devices out right now, aside from the dual core phones. I would suggest going back to stock, and getting instructions on how to install a ROM correctly.

Love my charge personally! Using imnuts ep1w rom and its great. I also like the so called 'cheap' feel. My friends have htc evo and that thing weighs a ton, I like how mine feels. Next benefit is the amazing sound quality on music with the Wolfson DAC and voodoo sound, no other phone comes close. Of all phones available now including bionic and even gs2 on other carriers the charge is still my top pick.
No going back from voodoo sound and SAMOLED+

Without a doubt this is a great phone. Great battery, when ROM'd, everything is fast and fluid.
No regrets at all....
I love mine as well, im using the leaked gingerbread bloated, froze a bunch of the bloatware on titanium backup
I can get through about 12 hours (full work day) using the phone moderately.
so much better experience than my old droid 2
'anybody regret not getting a Charge sooner?'
fixed that title for ya
in seriousness though no, this phone runs circles around all my previous ones and is arguably one of the best phones VZ (if not THE best, yes I'm looking at you LOLbionic) has right now
When you guys say great battery life? What do you mean. I can't make it through a day. When you say fast, what do you mean? It seems like my phone become non-responsive at time and starts acting odd and I have to reboot.
Also the BT on this is bad. I have to make sure its on before I turn on my car radio or it doesn't connect. And when it does connect it has audio hiccups.
I tried nooled and it was OK but took it off cuz I was already having battery problems. I also couldn't figure out how to get it to work with touchdown but I think that works.
Maybe I have a bad phone (but this is my 2nd)? Maybe I have a bad app (Ive started to remove apps)? Maybe its GummyCharge? Maybe the phone just sucks?
I don't know. I just know I want something better
I have no issues with this phone, except for the battery life. Which is to be expected. However, I can get through a full day (6AM-10PM), but it's completely dead by the time I go to charge it.
Sent from my Droid Charge running GummyCharged 2.0
J say switch to the bionic so we don't have to see threads like this anymore.
Serioulsy tho.. most of us love this phone
Its fast as he'll when rommed correctly. I am on gummy GBE and its extreamly fast, no stuttering ever and I get up to 20 hours of battery life (less if I use it hardcore)
You will hate the screen on the bionic and motor blur even in its new form is garbage.
Personally I am going to get the vigor. Htc fan here.. I had the incredible when it had the amoled screen.. htc just makes awesome phones.
Only thing that bugs me on the charge is the gps.

How does the O3D compare to other Androids?

I'm new to android, as I have been a long time iphone user. This LG o3d is my first android I've actually tried to use... And my question is how does this O3D compare to other Android phones?
Froyo 2.2.2
Battery sucks when 3D and 3G/4G is used a lot, but will last about 2 days with calls and SMS only
a bit of a response lag opening 3D menu when on standby for a long time but only about a second
only EU/UK and Rogers CA got/getting GB 2.3
other than that i love it, specially the ladies saying oohh and ahhh why cant my iPhone do that
i assume you have an international O3D version and not the LG Thrill from AT&T because the O3D international has 1700AWS and will work with Tmo 3g/4g
battery life seems really crappy to me. I made a topic about that.
it's my first android phone though so other than that it seems cool.
I don't get the hype on the 3D though. Maybe if you like the 3D games like nova? The 3D gallery and the rest of the stuff just seems useless.
Phone is great, between the best phones out there. But unfortunately it is made by LG, so if you use GB be prepared to have ghost calls, people are going to try to call you but the phone won't ring. I am using my old Nexus S as a phone cause I can't stand to miss calls. I use O3D as a media player or because of the 3D functions. Must carry always 2 phones with me. LG really sucks.

Exactly, I switched back to iphone4 as main phone and now O3D is backup as too many people complaint about not picking up the phone or not replying to sms including wifey
Signal - Pretty good. Also seems to get much more wifi connections than other phones (My DHD only gets 1-2 wifi networks, My O3D seems to get 10+ Networks)
Speed (Gaming) - Mid-high end. Plays most HD Games smoothly.
Smoothness (Stock) - Mid end - The stock lg launcher and quite alot of other stuff such as the camera/weather/changing music track by swyping the album art seems to be somewhat laggy, even though the hardware is more than capable. Install a custom launcher/music app/camera.(no 3d)
Battery Life (Idle) - Not very good, especially with a data connection on. Pretty average (4-5%/night) with 2g/no data. 2-3% a night with Airplane mode (Pretty much all other phones I've had use 0% on this mode)
Battery Life (Music+Screen Off) - Amazing. pretty much 1% every 20-30 minutes (Internal SD. External depends on card)
Battery Life (Screen On + non intensive task) - slightly below average, around 4 hours screen on time
Battery Life (HD Games) - Horrible. Sometimes only 1 hour depending on the game.
Development - low-medium.
I really want to love this phone, but can't. There seems to be one problem or another... I had heard about ghost calls, but didn't realize it what it was exactly.... There's nothing more useless than a phone that doesn't receive calls!
I'm currently using Rushdroids rom with v21b baseband... and it looks like I may have to switch back to my iphone 4 .................. yuck - edge again............................................

G Flex 2 review

http://www.droid-life.com/2015/03/17/lg-g-flex-2-review/
Performance is unbelievably terrible
I could potentially overlook some of the missing Lollipop features and broken system tools (that’s a lie, I probably couldn’t), but the level of jank and lag in this phone is something you just can’t avoid. I don’t know if LG had to throttle the hell out of the Snapdragon 810 to keep it from melting all of this plastic and so it just can’t keep up, or if Lollipop’s memory leak is to blame, but what I do know is that this phone is the worst performing phone I have used in probably four years. It stutters while swiping between screens. It also needs to be rebooted multiple times per day to function properly. It gets so bad some times that it can’t even load websites properly in Chrome without completely freezing up. I can’t even tell you the number of times that I got so frustrated that I went from hammering on back, home, and app switcher buttons to try to kill current tasks, to being moments away from throwing the phone against a wall. It simply cannot be understated how terrible this phone is to try to complete anything on.

Anyone who has a G Flex 2 wanna comment?
I've had mine since Friday and have not noticed much if any lag.
I disabled most everything I could without rooting it, and don't really do social media so there shouldn't be too much going on in the background.
So far my only disappointment is the shrunken screen size...
Voice quality is substantially better than my Note II.
My best speed test so far got 37.69MB down and 13.61 up.
So far I'm extremely happy with the G Flex 2.

How much is LG paying you?
The lag and stuttering is well-documented.

Having used mine for 4 days i havent seen as much lag as reviewed but there is a significant amount of stuttering and lag when getting hot.
Sent from my LG-H955 using XDA Free mobile app
I have used mine for a week and it is slower than the Galaxy Nexus, which means that it is **** dog slow. I have reset it and there is little improvement, still very ****.
It is very very very bad. Not enough power to run SwiftKey properly even. The UI is bad. Games run very smoothly including GPU killers like Real Racing 3. I think a lot of the problem is not in thermal throttling, it's memory utilization. The more apps in memory it really does.
The g2 is many times smoother. Any phone available today is faster including the piss slow Samsung Galaxy V.

Thanks for your honesty, though I think the problem is due to thermal throttling.
Hope you guys dump this crap when the S6/S6 Edge arrive. Any other Android phone will suffer from the same issues as we see with the G Flex 2 and M9.
Took mine back after 2 days the phone was laggy from day one and the phone charger would not charge the phone. Then today i went to make a call and the entire screen was black with color lines across the screen so i tried to unlock it and all i could see was a faded status bar . so on the way to Sprint i rebooted the phone 4 times and it finally came back on to normal took it back to Sprint and got a free replacement. The replacement phone i have now is so fast and lag free i can't believe it's the same Danm phone. This phone now is blazing fast and responsive the other phone i took back ran like a old s3 that's how bad it was doing anything. If all the flex phones ran this fast they would of scored a hit. but there's a few duds out there that's spoiling the party. If you have any issues with lag take it back and get it replaced before the 14 days. Had the screen not messed up i would of never known how fast this phone was when working right. Smdh i can't believe this phone messing up was a blessing. I mean it ran like **** i thought it was the software like everyone was saying it's not .

Another one?
I had problems with wifi and the texting app was slow. After 4 days i did a factory reset. The wifi has been good since but I will keep an eye on it. Seems faster so far. Hope it works out because I love this phone. Especially the one handed keyboard.
Same phone Sprint Version just got another one of this mess up in grabbing something else. Good so far
Paying me...I wish.
I'm a 50 something year old former Unix geek who is still a little amazed that I'm walking around with an 8 core rooted unix machine in my pocket that downloads data at almost 40mb/sec when my first dedicated internet connection cost $1500/month for a 56kb/sec leased line.
That said...where would I experience this lag? I can flick through app drawer pages without stuttering, Netflix streams fine, File Manager and Root Explorer traverse directory trees just fine,
I'm not trying to shill for LG...but as far as I am concerned with my G Flex 2... Life is Good.

I don't know wtf these clowns crying about but my lg is blazing fast, its actually smoother than my iPhone 6 lol....there is a bad batch out there, good thing I didn't get one! Thanks sprint! Hopefully 5.1 will be released for this flagship phone to fix the memory leak though.
