OK I dropped my Nexus-S in the sink doing dishes this morning I grabbed it lightning quick out of the sunk which was not filled up. It did get the phone wet but inky fir one second. I took it apart to sit dry for an hour.
So I turn it on and it actually worked. But the headphone icon is in the notification bar. I never used headphones on this phone.
And watched a uTube video and there was no sound probably because headphone icon on ?
Any tips for phones that fell in the drink ?

I would dismantle the device, put it in rice, let it rest there for like 3 days to a week w/o powering it on.
If your unlucky contacts on the headphone jack (or worse parts) are corroded, have to exchange them then or try plugging in/out a headphone several times.

I ran GPS and a youtube video for an hour straight to help warm it up and dry off the phone, and strangely it works 99% perfectly, only thing that is ****ed up is the speaker for media is low and garbled and bluetooth doesn't seem to work now, other than that it works normally.
I have heard of that before, put inside rice. But I need my phone for business all day, can't be out of a phone for a day, let alone three, would kill me.
Worse case I look on Craigslist for a cheap Nexus-S 4G, or find a deal on some other new phone ?

Here's what happened:
>My at&t Fuze dropped as I was running for cover from the rain, so ironical, it landed in a pool of water.
>Some lady picked it up and didn't bother to remove the battery or catch up with me and giving it back.
>18 hours later I got it back, it still had the battery. I immediately removed it and put out to dry in the sunlight.
>For 7 full days I let it lay on top of a CRT monitor and dry by absorbing the gentle heat produced by CRTs.
>Today I tried powering it up, it vibrates like it normally does when starting up but nothing shows on the screen. It then turns off because pressing the power button again makes it vibrate again. What can I do????
Take the battary out and put them in a ziploc bag of white rice for 3-4 days then try a little boot, then it sould work, then if not I have 1 word, Assurion

I can't insure my phone, it's just not possible currently, thanks anyways.
I tried powering it up with a Nokia 6300 battery, it actually powers on, I can receive calls, texts and even connect it a PC via ActiveSync. But the screen shows nothing, and the five buttons in and around the scroll wheel do not work, neither does the "charging light". At least I know it's not totally bricked, what to do now with such screens?????
Most likely its a paper weight now, not sure about success rate with the battery still in it for a day. Sometimes submerging the phone in alcohol helps, but im not saying it will in this situation. Try looking on craigslist or ebay for another.
jimenezboy, I have one i dont need any longer if you are interested. Its an ATT FUZE model. phone worked great when i got my new one...it has been in my desk drawer since.
Hello!
Last night my Nexus S fell into a cup of water. It was only the bottom part where the USB port and Mic is. It was for a quick second.
Later that night I made a phone call just fine no problems. Later I played around installing ROMs here and there. I went back to stock using the google images (att version).
This morning when I tried calling, the other person could not hear me. I tested this using using my moms phone and it is nothing no sound whatsover. I tried reinstalling the stock image but nothing.
Is my Mic broken??
Yeah, probably. You shouldnt use your phone if something like this happes. You should turn off the phone and remove battery, let the phone dry few days.

Hi
I just bought this brand new from ebay with out the box or instructions, Ive had the watch on charge for over 2 hours and nothing is happening. Should there be a led when charging? I've held down the power button and the watch just wont turn on? Any ideas before i send it back?
clean the charger and watch pins a bit with your shirt for example, if it doesnt work try pressing power button for about 30s.
it is usually related with the pins, when they get dirty theres no full contact, a simple clean must solve it.
hope it helped

Ok thanks will give this a try
If I cleaned the contacts with alcohol, it would work.................once.
I just got used to every night putting the connector on there and moving it around a lot until it finally show the charge symbol on the display. It was annoying.
I even had Sony replace it once, and the new replacement started doing the same thing after a couple of days.
I have the new watch now. One problem solved.

Somehow, my wife managed to drop her phone in the toilet yesterday. For whatever reason, she was pulling her phone out of her pocket while facing the toilet and it slipped out of her hand and into the abyss...
She said it wasn't in there long, but it only takes nanoseconds for a submerged phone to die.... I didn't know about this until much later in the evening. She was using her phone next to me and I noticed it had the headset icon in the notification bar and asked her if that was some new app or something. That's when she told me what happened. She said she dried it off as good as she could and didnt notice any issues with the phone..
I took the phone out of the case to find it had been sitting in a shallow pool of water all day. We turned it off and left it in a sealed ziplock bag of rice with the air sucked out, and noticed the phone making a hissing sound as it was being put into the bag. Took it out this morning, and now the phone will not turn on at all, nor will it respond to adb when connected to a PC. The LED does light up when plugged into a USB cable.
I guess all i need to know is ... Is this a lost cause at this point? I'm getting a gently used Motorola Razr 4G from someone on Craiglist so she'll have something to use, but if this one is fixable, I'd be curious to get it working.
The hissing sound came from the lower portion of the phone, so I'm wondering if the water moving when we pulled the phone from the case got in there and fried the battery and whatever else.
Any helpful info appreciated. Or even if it's a lost cause... Just want to be sure before tossing or putting a bullet through this thing.
Thanks
Hmm not sure. If it won't turn on I guess it'd be a list cause. But I'd suggest always leave a Water phone in rice atleast 2-3 days. I left my m8 in heavy rain for an hour" was playing Bball and forgot about it lol" with the phone facing up and after 2 days haven't had a prob since but submerged is a different ball game. I've personanly dropped a couple phones in toilet and all died just my experience. Btw everytime I have a phone die I always get a droid Razer off Craigslist lol just a great phone for a couple months

I'm guessing no insurance on the device? Call HTC and ask them if they'll help you with their HTC Advantage

It's most likely dead. If a phone gets dropped in water while it's still on, water gets into the boards and shorts things out. IF she would have immediately turned it off and put it in rice, there might have been a chance. But since she used it while there was water inside the phone, who know what could have shorted out.
I guess this video is bogus.

I wouldn't call it bogus, just lucky.
The phone doesn't have any way of keeping water out, some phones will survive water submersion and some won't. This is the case for any phone model.
Is it just me thats experiencing this issue. My phone has never been in or near water but i get this warning all the time and the phone wont charge. Now i have a wireless charger and use it but this is ridiculous for a brand new device. Sometimes it will charge and sometimes it wont. It just started doing this this week.

I haven't had the problem with my Note 7 but my husband had that problem on his S7. The cable was loose in the port and once we got a new cable all was fine.
Mine does it sporadically, i have two samsung usb type c cables and sometimes both will do it and sometimes both will work. It started about a week ago. Today it has been charging fine. Now sometimes when i disconnect the cable it will say it then, its a weird issue but as long as its charged when i need to be away from home im good. If it continues ill eventually have it replaced.

I came on the forum today to see if others were having this message and your thread was on top! My issue was a little different though. See, Lil Wayne was pouring champagne on his phone so I thought "what the hell! I am at a water park, let's get a good picture of my daughter in the wave pool!". Then a big wave came... Now I get the message every time I take my phone off charge. Both wireless and wired. Phone still works just fine. But this message won't go away.
I restarted it in hopes that would clear it, but it has been almost 20 hours now and it remains.
I hope there is a way to clear it that I haven't found yet.

I got the same message after I literally submerged my phone under water to get a shot of my daughter swimming. After I got out of the pool, I just blew air into any openings in the phone( speaker, charging port, mic and headset jack) and watched water spill out from every opening. I then pulled the status bar down, cleared the message( Hit Clear on bottom right once status bar is pulled down) and it went away. It does state on that moisture notification not to charge the phone through the port if water is present. There is a chance that water could still be in the port even after that extensive amount of time. How soon after it happened did you charge it via the port without blowing the water out 1st? Did you clear the message in the staus bar? Everything could be fine but you just need to clear the message. I don't believe it goes away even after a reboot. The only way to clear it is to clear it via the status bar unless you do a factory reset and that's wiping your whole phone and starting from out of the box status.

It was a while after that I plugged it in. And since my last post, I had charged it on my wireless charger and didn't get the message where I had before. Maybe I am done with the message?

That could be a possibility. Maybe all of the water completely evaporated and that let the phone know everything was ok. I'm glad you are in the clear as of now. However, if it should happen again, just blow air into the open ports and then clear the message by pulling your status bar down and hitting clear.
Power the phone down ... Plug it in ... Power up
