[Q] Usb device not recognized ! NO ODIN . help :( - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hello friends .
I have installed -= [ROM-Leak][ODIN] Gingerbread 2.3.4 T959VUVKG4 =-
on my galaxy s 4g using ODIN 1.7 and everything was working fine .
Then i found another rom that i like and would like to change .
but now when i go into download mode by plugging usb cable on my phone after pressing vol up + vol down button . my com port does not show on ODIN and windows says - "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED"
This is very sad as i am not able to change roms
can any 1 help .
till now i have only used ODIN for roms , i am a little noob at cwm .
help would be appreciated .
thank you

It is redundant, but you have to uninstall ALL Samsung USB drivers, restart the PC, reinstall the USB drivers, do the download-mode on phone, plug it in, SHOULD pick up... IF NOT, do the above all over again. This is what I do when mine does this.. Sometimes it works right away, other times it takes a few reboots, but eventually the PC WILL install the "device" and Odin3 will pick it up.

i have already tried unistalling and reinstalling thrice . No help . Ive also tried 3 diff usb ports .

It is a pain, but this method was the only thing that worked for me.. it took some time.. and patience. Even went through this last-night while flashing from KC1 to KG4, and then to KH2... KG4 seems to be the trouble maker with the USB issue...

thanx . somehow the other download screen appered [ phone -->yellow -->pc ]
and i installed another rom . everything is ok now . thanx for the help

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Sounds like soft-bricking helped you out a bit in this case. They are usually nothing to really fear as long as you can get into either Download mode or that screen mode, ROMS Will always flash with Odin into either one.

oh ! ok . nice .
wonder why arent all roms made for odin ? :S

I also found out that some windows updates for windows 7 was causing a ruckus with recognizing sg4g and other phones. I am having this problem now. I will try the suggestion, although i've done it 10 times. But I need my phone, I have to make calls regarding my dad (just died and I cant afford to not have contact. TIA

did you fix it?

[Q] Tried to Install MIUI, Now Stuck

Welp I am one of the stupid ones and installed MIUI on my Infuse, and like everyone else, I'm stuck on the boot screen. I looked at the post on the same topic and tried to do it but couldn't get it to work probably becuase the computer says that its an Unknown device instead of a Samsung device.
So my question is what do I do now that my computer doesn't recongize the phone as a device anymore?
Thanks to all that can give help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
And lesson learned - never install a ROM from another phone.
Yeah I know that now. Foolish mistake I know I shouldn't have made.
But, I have tried using that but when I connect the phone to the computer it shows to be an unknown device and Odin doesn't pick it up at all. My problem is, is that the computer doesn't recognize it as an Android Device anymore. Is downloading the drivers from Samsung going to help?
I'll have to leave that to someone else - I use Heimdall on a Linux box, I've never flashed from Windows.
Oh, ok. Well thanks for your help .
I fixed my problem. What I had to do was get another computer that doesn't have the Samsung Drivers or Kies installed and then install them. Once that was done Odin found the device and I was able to restore it.
So there's a tip for anyone who can't get their device to be recognized by the computer or Odin itself.
Or just uninstall/delete those drivers?

i have started to do this to since i got the infuse. ill tell you i dont miss driver issues one bit! linux/bsd/mac/whatever rock as long as you have supported hardware and that is becoming less and less of a problem these days.
re: Now Stuck
You need to try and pull the battery out and put it back see if you can get the phone into "download mode". If you cannot get it into download mode by doing that or using the up/down volume and power key combo then I would suggest that you purchase a "jig" on ebay. (they cost under $10 bucks shipped).
Here is the ebay link for the jig:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-Galaxy-...0563626533?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item20ba3eba25
With a jig all you would need to do is to remove battery, plug the little jig into the usb port of phone and replace the battery, then wait 5 seconds or so and the phone will be in download mode allowing you to use Odin3 and flash back to "stock rom" to start with..
Best if you did that using the "Ultimate Unbrick" stock froyo rom after that
you can install infuse 1.5 custom rom or Bionix or the defused custom rom or any other rom.
Here is the link for the Ultimate Unbrick:

Good luck.

I tried that but it didn't work on my computer, but that's just my computer that could work for someone else. If that doesn't work though, you can get another computer and install the drivers on them and that should work.

Where are you trying to uninstall the drivers from? I have windows 7 and went to device manager or whatever and took it off there. Then reinstalled kies, worked perfect after.

I guess this is a good sign. Our phone is gaining popularity because new people are buying it and trying dumb things with it

[Q] Please help

My flashing went wrong with one of the roms and as I was in the process of using ODIN , my phone isn't being picked up by my pc . My phone is in downloader mode and everything . what to do to fix this ? please reply asap because right now I have no phone :[
Aslong its in download mode unplug it restarted the computer and use the adam outler method or use odin it should work and do u have the drivers installed?Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App
PRoblem
I'm experiencing the same problem, the only difference is that i had a bad recovery, and now i can't get ODIN to detect the phone i tried the above suggestion with no avail. I had the drivers installed but now when i put it in downloader mode it just says.. "USB device unkown" so ODIN can't detect my sidekick 4g
whats the adam outler method ? can i have a link to it ?
It's in the development section. The program will load all necessary drivers, and go from there. Now, you are saying that your phone is in DL mode, but the pc is not picking it up... have you unplugged the phone from the PC via usb, and re-plugged it in? ODIN should see it then, as long as it is still in DL mode.

i was doing the heimdall [ adam's way ] and in the middle of it , my phone randomly disconnected so now my phone has a picture of a phone that had a caution side in the middle , and a pc on the other side , trying to imply that it was disconnected . when i plug it in nothing happens , when i turn it on or try to go into download mode , this picture comes up
U can still odin via that way
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App
how ? its stuck like that
been on that situation with the picture allot between my vibrant and sidekick. Odin always fixed it from there for me. Treat it like a DL state, and you should be stock soon. I have had it before where I had to let the phone sit over night, and then try in the morning and it worked fine with that pic

?
but im not understanding how is odin supposed to recognize it if that picture always comes up , even when trying to go into download mode
You are basically in DL mode at that point. Unplug the phone, re-plug and it should pop up in odin, as long as you have the correct drivers.. Have you tried to re-run the heimdall? it will probably go through now

yeah but thats wat i was saying earlier , my phone WONT pop up in Odin
I am assuming you are running windows, re-download the drivers for it. Heimdell grabs it's own drivers, odin does not. Make sure you download the correct set ones for the version you got.
I know it's frustrating....
yep im on windows lol and okay ima try that
Just curious... any update?

never was able to fix it thanks for being supportive . I've decided ima get a samsung galaxy s 2 or iphone 4s as a replacement , so i guess it worked out for the better but ima miss my sk4g

[Q] think i bricked it good and proper

ok i need help please , i had gbread on it and installed superoneclick to get root then tried to flash cwm with vipermod. message said out of storage space or something (dont have ext mem only internal)and now phone will not turn on.
have followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490 and phone was recognised by omapp but couldnt change the port in device manager and couldnt find a bin to download so i tried to flash a kdz v21a
clicked start on lgflasher but nothing happened so after about 5 mins i cancelled it thinking without the port change it was a waste of time.
now i cant even get omapp to flash up when i connect phone . device manager refreshes but i cant see anything change .
hope thats enough info for some kind person to help.
many thanks in advance

Where did you get vipermod from? The Transformer Prime forums? That's meant for the TFP and would not have worked with the O3D since it flashes to mmcblk0p4 rather than mmcblk0p. You should have used the flasher here.
Download this, this and this. Extract smartflash.zip, install both driver packages. Then, run Windows Enabler, in the notifications bar, click it and make sure it is set to 'on'.
Now remove your phone's battery and sim card, press volume up and connect your phone to the computer. Hold volume up until it is detected by the computer. It should take no longer than 20 seconds.
Now run B_SmartFlashTool_Extern.exe, go to rom copy d/l, select LGP920_CP.fls for CP bin and LGP920_AP.bin for AP bin. Make sure under communications setup that your phone is connected (verify the com port in device manager) and then click start. If all goes well, you'll have a stock v21D phone again
Thanks for the help guys but i'm not getting a com port when i connect the phone so i don't think i can use any of those methods . or can i
i want to go back to the beginning and see if omapp will detect phone and install drivers but i can uninstall the installer but dont think that will remove the drivers , does anyone know how to do that.(cos i think i messed that bit up )
thanks again
marty
vipermod , i think i followed a link somewhere in the o3d forum where someone said u could use it to flash cwm
so , i uninstalled all lg drivers uninstalled omap installer searched registry for for any mention of omap and deleted (some wouldnt delete ) .
restarted computer (xp by the way )
then installed omap installer and lg drivers and connected phone holding vol up
and................. NOTHING whereas yesterday i had a little icon in the task bar and the opportunity to install omap drivers.
conclusion , phone is dead , i had an oppurtunity to fix it yesterday and i blew it
hope someone tells me i'm wrong but its not looking good
marty
take off battery and just put your usb cable and tell us if it shows omap in your device manager
dont press keys
if i connect phone without battery device manager just refreshes a couple of times but nothing changes with regards to ports doesn't matter if i have vol+ button in power button in or nothing
thanks anyway
marty
am i getting somewhere
update : ok so i'm on a clean install of xp and i connected the phone with vol+ and it wants to install omap4430 drivers. is that good news?
i installed omapinstaller , then the 2 lg drivers ca and ma , then reconnected the phone and went thro omap driver install but still don't have any ports in device manager
is there no way i can force it to flash without it having to think it is connected cause if its recognising it as omap4430 there must be something there
don't want to give up on it too easy , if only i put this much effort into it whilst it was working lol
marty
evening all . new update
tonight i've installed the lg support tool and drivers and found that if i leave my phone connected i occasionally get "TI sample boards" popping up in device manager for a couple of seconds without having to press buttons , unfortunately it doesn't stay on for any longer with buttons pressed.
i was wondering how to force install the "LG CDMA composite usb device " drivers cos its never asking for them as it should according to the tutorial
hope someone can help cos i've seen a few threads with same problem as me

I'm sorry, I advise you to try the jig for 10 seconds or press the 4 spin battery and try to turn it on

i think i broke my infuse :(

first of all it was working all good with jvu saurom port then out of curiosity i decided to go for jbparanoid,
after that everything is good but i decided to go back to gb(jvu saurom port) i cant seem to load it to red cwm after flashing the port of jvu,
so i tried formating /system/cache/data still no red nor regularbootup
stupidity strikes i decided to format boot :crying: there i got the samsung logo but wont even start to boot nor i cant access blue or red cwm :crying::crying:
now im on my laptop trying to go back to stock and Download mode it cant even show the option its just samsung logo and it cant even be recognized by my laptop tried uninstalling everything that relates to samsung and fresh install kies and samsung drivers but no luck tried heimdall/odin it doesnt go it cant even recognize my phone :crying::crying:
i need help im pretty close to darkness here :crying:
THANKS
btw my laptop is running windows7 64bit
Try pulling the battery then put battery in and hold volume up and volume down then plug in USB cable and see if it goes into download mode. If it doesn't the ONLY two things that will possibly work is a USB jig or getting a memeber who can JTAG it and recover it for you.
