[Q] No signal, Can't connect to network - HTC Desire S

Hi Guys, Would really appreciate some help here!
The phone is unlocked and for some reason the other day it simply stopped getting any connection. Have tried placing on airplane mode then putting it off. Have tried rebooting, resetting the phone to factory settings. I'm trying to change the radio settings from WCDMDA preferred to GSM under the phone settings, as i have heard this is a fix, but the phone just will not allow me to do it, it instantly changes back to WCDMA preferred. Any reason why?
I've also tried flashing a new radio but to no effect and I attempted to flash a custom rom but i could not downgrade the hboot from 0.98.0002 to 0.98.0000 as the official RUU exe does not recognise the phone so i cannot downgrade it.
Any help would be appreciated!
Ozzy.

When this happened to me, it turned out to be a faulty sim card! Have you tried popping in someone else's sim card to test this?

Either that or blacklisted.

I've tried another sim card in the phone and it doesn't work, the same sim works in another phone.
How can I tell if its blacklisted?

You can phone the provider. It could also be a faulty sim tray. If it was working fine and suddenly it's not it does sound like it's blacklisted.

Just checked and its not blacklisted/blocked.
Any more suggestions?

You could always try a factory reset. Other than that, it must be hardware. Send it back for repair.

Try pressing *#*#4636#*#* and change to gsm from there.

Gave that ago, but it just automatically changes it back to WCDMA preferred. Any suggestions? Really appreciate the help so far!

[Q] Losing data connection

Hello everyone, I got the Rogers HTC one x and put in my fido micro sim and set up the apn, it worked for an hour then stopped working. Phone calls work and I can text message but no data unless I connect via wi-fi. I factory reset again and set it up again, however the same thing. I constantly have to reboot the phone to make data work again for a short period then it stops, then I need to repeat the same cycle again. Has any one else experienced this? Any ideas on how I can fix this issue?
Is your phone unlocked? If not, you need to unlock it.
Didn't unlock it. Was under the impression it would work for fido since someone else claimed it worked for them with a fido sim. I will try unlocking it then. Thanks for the reply.
Go into your network settings and change the option gsm auto/wcdma auto/LTE auto to just gsm auto/wcdma auto
I had the same issue with my phone I unlocked it and set it up with Telus and everything was fine until a couple days ago when I was getting the same issues as you. Hanging that setting worked for me.

You don't need to unlock it, the One X from Rogers will work on Fido and Chatr out of the box.
(Proven by the fact that you can connect. If it as locked, it would never connect. The phone wouldn't let you.)
I have a feeling it's because Rogers hasn't enabled LTE on the Fido network yet. So my suggestion would be to disable LTE on your One X: Settings > Mobile Data > Network Modes > Select "GSM / WCDMA auto"

Thank you for the replies. I tried that however it still loses connection after a bit of time passes. Sometimes the sim gets reconnected on its own then loses connection fairly quickly again. I hope its not a faulty phone.
Mine's from Rogers and I'm using Rogers in a non-LTE enabled area and it worked fine out of the box. His should as well and I don't think he'd need to change the radio settings in the service menu. But perhaps he may... it's the first I've heard of it.
Maybe get Fido to reset the connection from their end and power cycle it. It may just need to be reprovisioned. They've had some challenges in the last little while and I also had to get transferred to a few reps when I changed my SIM back to my old one temporarily (bricked my HTC One XL for a day but thankfully unbricked it - whew!).
Hopefully it's nothing more than some simple provisioning challenges. Maybe Fido was having the same issue in their centers.
So far, I have tried calling Fido and even went to the store to have them try to troubleshoot it. They reset the data connection and I powered the phone off for a few minutes, still the same. Even trying a differnt Fido micro sim gives the same results so it can't be my sim card either. I will have data connection for up to 15mins then it stops working.

I'd ask for a device swap. That doesn't sound normal. Now's the best time to request it as well.
Hey iman79,
Were you able to find a solution to your problem where data drops out after a period of time?
I have just recently started using a Rogers HTC One X on Fido with an LTE Sim and am facing the same problem where the data connection seems to drop out.
Note: the phone still shows 'LTE' is connected but no data comes through.
And as you said only restarting the phone will fix the problem.
Thanks,

Bizarre 'Mobile Network Not Available'

Hello all,
The problem phone is my girlfriend's Nexus S (9020a) with the following details:
ROM: Slim_ICS_4.0.4
Radio: NO DGSXXKB1
Kernel: [email protected] #3
Her phone cannot connect to a mobile network. I've tried rebooting, I've tried cycling with airplane mode, I've tried reflashing the ROM, changing the Radio, changing the Kernel. Nothing worked - still no connection.
My phone is another Nexus S. I was under the impression that connecting with the provider was controlled by the SIM card, so to verify that her SIM card worked, I popped it into my phone. It works like a charm. This led me to believe that it was her hardware, so I popped in my working SIM card into her phone, and it works too! In fact, from her nexus S (with my sim card in it), I can call my handset (with her sim card in it), and the call goes through.
I think this rules out her sim card being faulty, as well as her hardware, and considering I've tried changing roms, radios and kernels, I think the software isn't the problem either but I can't be sure.
Her IMEI number matches the number under the battery, and I've double checked that the APN is correctly set up for her phone.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
Werm.
Read the radio guide in development there's a part about getting your 3g connection back. This happens to my gfs phone once and it was a pain to figure out. But I believe the phone is not connecting to the right service I.e. gsm.

iu suggest you get a new sim card for your gf, since your card worked and hers didn't. it didn't cost me anything.

Not receiving calls or texts

Hello everyone!
First time poster over here in the HTC Ox forums!
My fiance has an ATT HTC Ox. She is 100% stock and doenst want to root and play with ROMs.
Over the past week or so she has not been receiving calls or text messages. A reboot fixes it, but that isnt really an acceptable solution. IT happens randomly it seems.
i did a search and saw some people having similar problems, but not any solutions.
Anyone got any ideas/help they could provide?
We're going to go to ATT to get a new SIM tonight. But any help would be greatly appreciated.
I believe it's a problem with the new LTE staying connected. Try turning it off and setting connection to WCDMA preferred.

Before going out fo your way for a new sim card, if you have a phone with the same size of sim card you can just swap the two and see if its a device issue or just the sim card. But when I worked for Rogers the sim card was typically the problem for that kind of problem. That said, I had a similar problem after rooting my O XL that seems to have been corrected by just toggling LTE off for GSM, reboot, retoggle LTE back on, and restart. Dial *#*#4636#*#* under Phone Information set preferred network type.

[Q] Cellular modem and NFC unstable

Hi,
I hope someone could help me save a useless phone.
I got a Z3 from ebay (it's O2 Germany). As soon as I turned it on it updated to 5.0.2.
Then later I inserted the SIM card (took me some time to get the nano from the carrier).
It's not SIM locked.
The problem is that I can't get a steady signal. AT ALL. It hits a signal for 2 sec, then nothing.
It can recognize my carrier in the split second that it's on, I got the access points and all. I can even search for carriers and get a list of several to choose from.
The same phenomena is apparently happening with the NFC - the software switch turns on then straight off (same radio chip issue?)
I have tried GSM only, WCDMA only, LTE.
Tried changing the bands used using the internal *#*# menus.
Using flashtool I have flashed a stock global rom instead of the german. And local stock.
I have read that some people had this issue after the lollipop update so I rolled back to stock 4.4.4, same issues with cellular and NFC.
I'm really at a lost. I have this fancy brick that I was hoping to give my dad (he needs the screen size, the old fool) and instead I'm wasting valuable time at work trying to fix it...
Anyone?
Thanks,
Juv.

I got the exact same problem, im in Norway and using mye Operator firmware..
I'm having the NFC problem. I have the US T-Mobile version (D6616), and NFC stopped working right after I updated to Lollipop.
Factory reset, and repairing using Sony's PC Companion does not help. On first boot, i'll get a "NFC firmware update failed (-1)".

CDMA radio problem. Please Help. I've used search

Hello, I'm having a major problem with my phone and I'd be extremely grateful for any help or expertise.
PROBLEM:
I cannot get any kind of CDMA signal on TWO Verizon HTC M8 (I didn't post in that specific thread for a reason, I'll explain, please don't move it).
--------------------------------------------------------
HOW THIS HAPPENED:
The first phone, I was using as normal and it was fully functional.. One night i flashed a ROM and ended up falling asleep before if built the ART cache (so it was just playing the bootanimation) and the next morning I awoke to find the boot animation still running. The phone wasn't hot but ever since then I could never get any kind of CDMA service (so i can't use my carrier.)
The second one i just bought and put my sim in and BAM. Same problem.
--------------------------------------------------------
MORE DETAILS ON THE PROBLEM:
If i put my sim in, i can usually get 4G data but can NEVER get any lower bands. CDMA settings are greyed out in settings. This persists across ROMs and radio firmwares. My immediate thought was to get a new sim but my sim works absolutely fine in my LG G2. The sim is cut from a microsim but the point there is it worked fine before (and still works in my G2) and it didn't shift in the tray. I tried my friend's sim from an Iphone 5s and it did the same thing. I've tried everything i possibly know to do. This problem has basically cost me $400 dollars or 2 M8s.
Even if i go into the phone info hiddenmenu, i cannot select the CDMA or EvDo bands by themselves.
