[Q] DSP Manager on G2x? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Yes, i know what the search button is, sucks on ALL forums, including this one.
With that said, is the a flashable DSPManager.zip made for the G2x? because I fell in love with stock 2.3.3 but love DSPManager for the bass boost on my old Aria
Anyone have it or a link? because the one i flashed on my sensation won't work on my g2x :/

Yes, it works on any 2.3.3+ rom. Will not engage on Froyo roms. You can pull it from cm7 or any other rom that includes it. I've seen links flying around for it in some threads and yes a search should find it for you. Start in themes and apps or development.

Thank you! By the way it gives me "Status 0" error when I flash the dspmanager.zip through clockworkmod..

By the way, stock 2.3.3 through the LG Updater.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App

Don't know, the way I have it is I used Titanium to back it up from a 2.3.4 rom and then when I went to 2.3.3 I just restored it and it works.
Xboarder posted a zip here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15935476&postcount=91
You might try getting it from EB2.3.3 since it's stock in the rom.
As a last resort you can install EB2.3.3 and then use titanium to back it up and then install a new rom and restore.

It installed, but the EQ makes it sound weird and the bass boost doesnt boost
Anyway i can rip it from Trigger and work like it did when i had Trigger flashed?

Backing up Froyo ROMS

I've searched this topic without success so I'm sorry if this has already been answered.
Im running the leaked ji6 and want to try dg's aosp rom. I really like my current setup and want to back up my ROM in case I want to go back. I have never tried to create a backup using rom manager when running 2.1 so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I'm not able to create a backup. Does rom manager work with 2.2?

[Q] new to this device but what is the best rom?

I use CM7 as well, works great for me, but I really like ASOP and have used CM on my past 7 phones
First off, update the device with the LG Software Updater so you'll get the new baseband. Then you can flash any gingerbread ROM you'd like, and keep the new baseband.
From my experience I have tried xboarders 1.2.2, eaglesblood both 2.3.3 and 2.3.5, and of course CM7. They are all great roms. I have not used MIUI yet or any others but have heard good things about all of them. A Rom is really going to come down to personal preference. I am currently rockin CM7 and it is awesome! If you want to customize the look of your phone I would highly recommend giving CM7 a try. Remember, when installing CM7 to also install google gapps. That will allow you to link your google account to your phone. Try all the roms out. Once you have root it is super easy to flash whatever rom you want.

Use NV flash to get the recovery installed. Flash a custom ROM. I'm using weapon g2x with faux newest kernel myself.

Thank you for the link, and one other question, will rooting/flashing it affect the way I have my phone set up and keeping all of my stuff? Like is it restoring my phone?
I would say go for the legendary cyanogen mod first. See the power of android first, realize what aspects are important to you, then maybe try a different rom. Or just stay with CM like so many 100s of thousands of others

1. Changing roms wipe your phone? 2. Whats CM?
EDIT---
Dumb question('s), question has been revised in the first post.
Here's a quick glossary:
ROM: essentially an operating system for the phone. CM7, Miui, Weapon, Eaglesblood, are all ROMs.
Recovery: Recovery mode, accessed by holding power and volume-down while booting up the device. Most notible for ClockworkMod Recovery (abbreviated CWM), a custom recovery mode that lets you do lots of modding-related things.
Wipe: Formatting various parts of the phone's memory, necessary when installing new things. For a run-of-the-mill flash (anything other than a new ROM) just wipe Cache and Dalvik, the latter is under the Advanced option in CWM. For a new ROM, do the above but also wipe Data (factory reset) and System (under Mounts and Partitions in CWM)
Kernel: In the context of phones, this is a system change that lets you undervolt and/or overclock the CPU. Lets you save battery and increase performance respectively.
NVFlash: A tool used to flash CWM onto the phone.
Root: Access to the entire phone's system as opposed to being locked out to part of it as is the default. Lets you run special Root-only apps.
The Android Development board here is pretty definitive as far as roms go, the only significant one not hosted here is Whitehawkx's MIUI port which IMO is better than the one here.

The help is greatly appreciated, I picked some of that up just spending an hour reading up on wiki and android and surfing the threads, but again thank you.
My revised question still stands, what is the BEST ROM out there if there is one, and what is the BEST kernel out there if there is one.

That's like asking what is the best ice cream. Its all a preference. Cyanogenmod is the most popular rom for android and it cones with a kernel. Now try it already.

For me the stability of the phone is the most important, so the appearance of it will come second. I am using a rooted build of gingerbread 2.3.3 and so far it has been working flawlessly, my phone before I flashed it with the rooted ROM gave me like at least 1 problem a day, so far I am clear and it has almost been 24hr. If it stays its course I am not looking into anymore ROM's, if it does show the same signs I will search for the next best ROM.
But again, I appreciate your input, I am keeping an eye on the ROM you named and a few other, cheers
If you need A2DP then go with Weapon, it's based on 2.3.3 and everything works great.

What is A2DP?
a2dp is the ability to stream bluetooth in stero without it music over bluetooth is a no go but you can still use BT for phone calls it will only be in mono. You can still use your phone for music but you have to use this thing called a wire I dont know apparently back in the day you had to use this wire to listen to music throught headphones and speakers. Strange right? Anyway all ROMS that are not 2.3.3 based or 2.2.2 based Like CM7 or eaglesblood that are 2.3.5 do not have A2DP it has something to do with Nivida not releasing the drivers or something like that. It is ashames because Eaglesblood 1.08 is the best ROM ever but it will never be finished same as cm7 till Nivdia starts cooperating. It really was hard going back to wired headphones but eaglesblood is definitly worth it. Hope this helps

It's cool, I have the same question.

Roms that allow call recording.

I am in serious need of a rom that will allow me to record my calls. I recently (yesterday) was awarded custody of my son. I now have to schedule visitation with his mother and would like to have recorded proof. I will be notifying her at the onset of each call that they will be. These will all be in case she doesn't show for scheduled visitations.l to prove that I have been setting time aside. Please any he'll would be good. My system is a rooted captivate with stock kernal running stock gingerbread minus some bloatware. Ive only wandered across thread discuasing apks and other files that ive no clue about changine to do so. Thanks for any help.

The Firefly ROM can record calls. IMO Firefly was one of the most polished ROMs out there. Unfortunately it is Froyo, but it's still an amazing ROM. Check out this post I made a few months ago about getting call recording to work as well as the whole thread on call recording. Hopefully this helps, good luck.

I'd like to run that as my phone ran better on and came stock with froyo. Once I updated to Ginger it began to suck. Force closes, lagging. It been terrible but I can't upgrade the phone until next year at upgrade time. It has been a great $0.97 phone. I've tried to load roms and it doesn't work. I get some e:signature verification error. What would be the best way to load this rom. I am new to all of this and would love to learn more. However even in the tutorials I run across acronyms I don't know. Could someone please give me the easiest way to load this rom.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA
Two things:
1. If you're having trouble with acronyms, take a look at the "XDA Terms and Acronyms" post. That should help you out.
2. To get around the 3e signature issue, your best bet would be to flash a Froyo kernel with ClockworkMod recovery already included via Odin or Heimdall. I would suggest Onix, as it's a good kernel and I know it works with Firefly from previous experience.
thanks
thanks for the help. it is certainly appreciated. i just flashed the odin kernal. does it matter that the phone is currently running stock gb? also how long does it take to load? i like literally just did it at 10:14pm on wednesday june 20, 2012.
Well I flashed a stock kernal with cwm already inside and was then able to download firefly and flash it. I really like it. Ultra smooth. Much faster than stock gb. Thanks to all who responded. Thanks to all the guys at xda. Y'alls work is great. Too bad they haven't tried updating firefly to gb. I think it'd be great.

Team Phoenix aka The Collective aka The Family did come out with a great GB ROM called Mosaic. While Mosaic is themed blue, it does have a flashable Firefly theme here if you're partial to that.
They also came out with an ICS ROM, Fusion. Unfortunately it doesn't have a Firefly theme but it does have a green theme that looks pretty good as well.
It is important to note that the Firefly ROM is the only one that has call recording. It was never implemented in any of the more recent ROMs. Hopefully this helps.
I like firwfly in that it is quicker than the stock gb and it supports call recording. I needed it at the request of my attorney to record all calls with my sons mom. Id like to get back to a gb based rom that supports call recording. I don't want to try a ics rom until its more stable and safer. Don't want to render my phone useless.

di11igaf's Rom on 2.2.1 also had call-recording. LOVED this rom!!!
Does anyone know why this feature is left out of all recent and current Roms? Currently on an ICS Rom now, and the only thing that I really miss is the call-recording. There is a post about this issue for the SGS II on 2.3.5 & Mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482721.

[Q] Rogers Infuse back to stock

I've upgraded my Rogers Infuse with CM10 Jellybean and have had many issues with it freezing and not letting me answer incoming calls, etc. and camera app jittering while recording video.
I was told that the android 2.3 is the most stable version for this phone. But when I have had issues getting stock ROM for Rogers Infuse. In this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248 the download links direct to lnx.lu and tries to get me to install iLividSetup.exe which is a virus. The links are basically dead.
I've tried installing other roms just to get back to stock with lots of problems but eventually got ZEUS rom installed. They say that its stable but this rom is either very buggy or I didnt install it properly. The built-in apps have are there but their icons have been erased and have been renamed to com.android. and when I try to launch any of them it says that the app is not installed on the phone. Im talking about necessary apps like play store, etc. So I cant use the phone like this.
I need help with getting my Rogers Infuse back to stock or a very stable install. Thanks in advance for any help I can get on this.
I would suggest odin back to stock or heimball one click explained in many threads in the dev section. I use Aeon rom wich works better then stock for me. But i dont think u will find the 2.3.3 rogers rom anywere . Pm me if u do i want it lol . U will have to go with an att 2.3.6 wich will still be considered stock rom and will work on rogers. I was using att rom with Bell canada
