I downloaded the update and saved the file to install later on my Sensation. Now, I have lost the icon to install the update. How do I install it manually?
Go to settings, about phone, check for updates and then it should ask you to install.

Again, I already downloaded the update and saved it to the SD to install later. After repowering today, the icon is gone. When I check for updates, it says no update is available as it apparently has set some flag saying I already have the download.
I have the update ZIP file on the SD card. How do I install it is the question. There is no "install file from zip" like there is in CWM.
Go to Astro and rename your download PG58IMG . It should appear as a zip file. Put it in the root of your sd card. Power down and hold the volume rocker down and power button at the same time. It will ask you if you want to update, press volume up and wait for it to finish. Erase the file from the root after you are finished. If you have CWM I'm assuming your rooted. There's like 2 or 3 2.3.4 TMOUS roms you can just flash? that would be tthe easiest way.

I unrooted my phone click "unroot" using original OCLF thinking i didn't need this app anymore being i rooted the phone using usb and one click root when i flashed the cognition rom. Now i actually unrooted the phone and i uninstalled the original oclf and the new version does not let you root. How do i reroot my device? When i follow steps to reroot it has a red screen when im in reboot menu, i believe it is voodoo lag fix gives me many option but i use the power button to select reboot phone since i do not know what to do. Please help thanks!!
hmmm. You can search for root options on 2.2. You xan asks back everything up and reflash the rom.

how do i reflash if i cant even root my phone tho? when i try to use one click root, the phone goes into boot menu but all letters are red, and talks about voodoo lag fix, i will try again and post all the options that the phone gives
Disable lagfix, select install zip from sd in recovery. You do not need root to flash a rom as long as you have clockwork recovery. The red recovery will work

ok obviously i'm still kinda new to this, i somewhat understand what you mean, is there anyway you can give me better directions in steps? I know you are using your phone, thanks for the quick responses. how do you disable lag fix, and the rest of the steps?
Disable lagfix
Boot phone to on
Go to my files app
Look for voodoo folder
Inside voodoo folder create a new folder named disable-lagfix
Reboot, you will hear the voices.
flash rom
Make sure rom is on your sd
Long press power button
Select recovery
Once in recovery select install zip from sd
Then select choose zip or something like that
Find the cognition rom
Select
Select again
It is likely when the rom boots voodoo will still be disabled
To re enable go back to voodoo folder on sd, open, delete disable-lagfix folder, reboot. You will hear the voices

ok i used one click root to force root file that i renamed, it then rebooted phone to a red menu, "clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.3 - voodoo lagfix" options are:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sd card
backup and restore
advanced
voodoo lagfix
go back...
Can i select install zip from sdcard from here, is that what you were meaning?
Also on a different note, i have the xda app how do you get notifications from my post?
The rom works fine, so do i need to flash it again, or is this the method i will need to flash all over again to be able to root?

Ok please make sure the program you used is for 2.2. If so click apply sd card update zip.
I do not receive notifications, when I am bored and watching tv I am pretty much always playing around. If I am helping someone I am mindful to keep an eye out.
Edit. I love swype but sometimes the words it puts in there are crazy

the root method i download was from a thread with video and instructions on how to flash a rom from 2.1 to a custom froyo rom. so if i get this right, your saying i need a file that roots a 2.2 phone? so i need to find in xda one click root for 2.2 right?
Well thanks for being bored and being helpful.
yes swype does put in the weirdest words sometimes
any idea on a 2.2 rooting file? or search?
my biggest bugs with swype are with the words "want" always come up with wasnt. and a few others but "want" bugs me the most
http://www.multiupload.com/02RXSWORVC
Try this. I found it in a search. It should be a download of an update zip to root froyo.save to sd, select apply update.zip in recovery. Make sure file is named update.zip

ok, just want to get this right, copy file to internal sd, rename "update.zip" then reboot phone to menu right? holding volume buttons and power right? then select reinstall packages? or will it prompt me to select update.zip from sd card

I had recently installed a custom ROM on my HTC Evo 4G and the only thing i noticed is that my search button has been disabled by the creator of the ROM. according to what I understand I can restore the buttons by "Flashing" a zip file that is related to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702579
Only thing is, I have no idea how to install this umm... "modification" i guess you could call it?
I have the zip on my phone and it asks to open with Rom Manager yet im not so sure that's what needs to be done.
Flash it just like you flashed the ROM..

I Installed the ROM using flash manager, simple run and go, did the same with the ZIP and it just restarted the phone with no change? :/
I guess it was some odd reboot issue I had going on because all I did was reboot and i was able to select the .zip file from the file update selection screen and it worked fine

1. The rom can be find here http://www.multiupload.com/OBEJWF9QF download and unrar, then download the patch here http://www.multiupload.com/ETK2TR4VG7 DO NOT UNZIP THIS! then you can download the radio patch http://www.multiupload.com/1CZ6BX1VFI

3.Go here to download open recovery http://www.4shared.com/file/OZbPemP4/OpenRecovery.html install to your phone open it up, click on install recovery then click normal reboot.
4. this is not needed but you SHOULD if you have sense.open up open recovery (called system recovery in the drawer) then click on the recovery reboot. when the screen has loaded up go to nandroid then backup then click the top 5 (using the volume buttons to move and the camera button to select,) this should 5 mins to 10mins if not take out battery and try again.
5. when you have done that go to your sd card and copy and paste the personaRedV4 folder to the folder nandroid/openrecovery/paste here if you dont have that folder go to step 6 then step 7

8.if you didn't back up your rom then make a folder on your sd card called nandroid then create a folder called openrecovery in that folder. paste personaRedV4 folder into it

Nice list. One thing that sometimes trips people up when installing Open Recovery using Dexter's apk: you must have the SD card mounted on the phone when you install Open Recovery (i.e. USB Charge Only mode). The easy way to make sure this is true is to unplug USB. Otherwise "install recovery" will report "success", but Open Recovery won't actually be installed.
TL;DR: unplug the phone before you press the "install recovery" button in step 3.

Hello All,
I'm knew to Android but since I got my XT720 I have been looking for ways to make it better since it doesn't have a lot of internal memory. I would also like to share how I installed it GalaxyXTv4.
I basically followed this Video
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943368
I download it the Galaxy from using this link
http://www.multiupload.com/VAIZTZJWMM
Finally I downloaded the whole root and openrecovery using this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946973
I also replace the content of the openrecovery folder with the extract of the GalxyXT, and the followed the Video.
The only difference is that I did reset everything cache, davlik, and factory defaults. When the phone rebooted, I was doing the initial setup and the phone rebooted itself twice, so I decided to remove the microSD card let the phone boot and then add the SD card back, I formated the card using the phone option and it has been working great (only a few hours since I installed the Galaxy).
The phone is performing better than when I was on 2.1 with apps2sd and definitely better than using 2.2.1 v4 BLUR make

Edit: Managed to get back into Openrecovery to wipe all 3 cache things. Now it's working okay.
After I format the SD card, I put to the phone, and it is not able to be read anymore. Please help
Re format it or buy a new card

Sorry to beat a dead horse but I have to ask. Ive receive some good advice on how to do this but I'm still not total clear on the procedure. I'm currently running infused 1.5 and would like to update to newest version. In lamins terms what are the exact steps. I've referanced the dev section but all I really see is how to install from stock. When I referenced the dev page I noticed and downloaded the full infused 1.5.2 and when I looked into root manager its listed as whitesmoke installer. If that's what I need than I suppose I need instructions from this point on. Thanks.

MUCH easier and faster way is simply go to free ROM Manager, go to gtg and download 1.5.0 to 1.5.2 update only which is under 3MB, then phone will auto reboot and install everything. Takes less than 2 minutes.

That's what I thought but I think I was told not to use rom manager, I think I was told that because of the possibility of green text but I'm red so maybe I could have used rom manager. Any who, I installed the new version and it was pretty painless. I'm kind of upset in a small way, I lost the slide unlock and slide to silent, it went back to the original slide. Any way to get it back?

Reinstall the "AOSP Lockscreen" addon, which should also be in his first post.
My wifes S3 is rooted but, stock and removed some bloat. She tried to do the OTA update and it downloaded but, failed of course. I have changed the OTA cert file name so it shouldnt allow OTA updates any longer. But, now it seems nightly it reboots into CWM to install the OTA update. What do I need to do to get that to stop?
This was the tips that someone gave me.
1. Use Titanium Backup to delete/uninstall SDM
2. Using a file explorer (e.g., Root Explorer), go to system/etc/security and change "Otacert.zip" to "Otacerts.zip.bak"
3. Using a file explorer, go to cache/fota and delete the file in there

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the OTA won't install because of cwm. The OTA does not know how to use it and causes it to fail.
If you want use Odin and flash the stock recovery and it will install just fine. Otherwise just freeze the app causing the update to download. I forgot the apps name at the moment but a simple search will reveal it name.
As for the update it self, its prolly just an updated modem. You can download thos in the development section and flash them in cwm.
Hope this helps out.
