[Q] Intriguing Battery use. - HTC Sensation

After a full charge to 100%, my battery reports that it holds that 100% charge even through heavy usage, for up to 30 minutes. Anybody else noticing this weird easter-egg?

I noticed this too
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

Happened to me too. Infact, before the udate, my battery was 80%, after update and reboot, it showed 100% for quite q while and then it started dropping.

+1 same here... Before 78% after new ROM 100% removed battery stats... But no cigar
Maybe this will help..
Remove battery stats.
Plug to the wall charger when the phone is off and let it charge for let's say 5u
Sent from my HTC Sensation xD

I've heard that it's only a good idea to wipe battery stats when the battery's fully charged, not before.

I charged the battery full, calibrated it and now drops normally. Current widget shows me very high consumption, I don't know is it works normally with dual cores.

Definately something strange going on.
I charged my phone up fully last night, took it off charge and went to bed.
This was the battery usage in the morning. Trying to work out why it shows awake and screen on for the entire time.

That's a misleading image.
What that data means is this: of all the energy expended DURING THE NIGHT(according to the photo 1-2%) the energy lost was because the phone was awake at some point, and the screen was on. It DOES NOT mean that your phone was awake/screen on all night. Just that the energy lost during the night was because the phone was awake/screen on for a miniscule portion of the night (somebody texted you or something). Nothing to be distraught over.

Impressive Battery Life?

Hey everyone, I have now had my Nexus S for 3 days and have loved every minute of it.
One of the things that has surprised me is the battery life. Check it out:

I still have 39% battery after two days! This is really amazing I think. Granted I only had 2 phone calls in that time but I have been texting a lot and playing around with settings.
How long does your battery last and do you have any tips on improving battery life?
I am running CM7.1 with Go Launcher Ex and have the brightness set on very low plus I don't use screen orientation switch either.
What is your screen on time?

I use matr1x kernel wich has the best batterylife for me, but i still have to recharge every day...

I run it completely stock and unrooted, and get about a day with average use. By far the best smart phone I have owned.
Matrix or Trinity seem to give the best battery life.

Sorry I don't know how to find screen on time.
I put my phone on charge after 2 days 22 hours and it was still on 19% but I charged it to be safe because I am expecting a very important phone call.
Calculating data regarding battery stats using morfic TEUV-S22-05102011, you could reach around 80 hours with cell connected but having very little activity.
Same place as that pic but click on display that will have shown display on time

Ok I found it, it says 3hours 24min and 10s.
wow.... 3h 24min display time and still 39% battery? amazing.

For the people on matrix or trinity kernel, how long is your battery lasting you off charger? And how heavy of a user are you? Just curious been messing around trying to get it over a day :/

Hey everyone. Here's a screenshot I took of my phones battery use. I was just wondering if this rate of discharge is normal. My screen brightness is always let to the lowest possible, all power saving settings enabled, phone overclocked at 1.6 with ondemand governor. I am using the sensay XE35 v 2.1.0. How could I improve battery life, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply guys, stabro I've had this Rom for about a week now shouldnt the battery be calibrated by now, or does it need a little longer. And matt, isn't that what I uploaded or is there something else that I need to upload

The screen you were at before you clicked the graph to get what you already posted. It shows a bunch of apps with how much of the battery it's been using.
Oh haha sorry, blacked out for a moment
Here's the shot of that.
I have no idea why it doesn't show actual apps, but I havnt messed with it. I'm assuming its rom related?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Was your wi-fi on the whole time, and is your cellular service always on even in standby? Changing those can have a large impact. Did you have better battery life on a previous rom? Is it the stock battery, cause if so, the life on it is typically not very good.
I've found in all the Sense roms I have used, display is always right at the top in battery use. I would normally have mine at a set brightness like 45% during the day and 25% at night which would drop display usage a bit. Plus try underclocking instead of your overclocking to 1.6.
That might be because you had plugged it in for a few minutes. It shows the battery usage since the last time it was disconnected.
LBN1 yeah I always keep WiFi on, my phone is always on 2g mode. Before this Rom I was using miui, the battery on that wasn't the best but it would see me get through the day with medium use, and prior to that, ARHD by far best Rom for battery imo. Yeah I still use the stock battery, though I'm thinking about buying another battery.
I've read somewhere, cant remember where lol, that a low signal uses a lot more battery as its constantly searching for a Signal, I think u guys have noticed from screenshots that my house, has very bad reception

Do you use your phone alot? I am gaming alot on the phone during schooltime, and it DRAINS battery (1% per minute almost) And I usually charge my phone when I come home again. And what kernel do you use? I use Bricked 1.6 beta, and it's awesome (1.5ghz ondemand)
Some things that helped me a bit was:
-Calibrate battery
-Undervoltage (download system tuner and hit 6 times on the -12.5v button)
-Juice Defender ultimate (It works really good for me)
Hope it helps

My understanding is that the battery drops fairly rapidly from 100% to 95% before stabilizing to a slower, more controlled drop
I think this was detailed in the Synergy ROM thread

It might be because you are in cell standby a lot, are you in a low signal area majority of the time? Checking for signal 41% of the time, might account for the battery decreasing so fast.
It also seems that the international phones are getting a firmware update to address cell standby battery drain, but I don't know if it pertains to us in the U.S. http://blog.gadgethelpline.com/samsung-seeds-firmware-update-fix-cell-standby-battery-drain/

No, usually most phones will charge to 100 then stop charging and let the battery drain a little, many phones down to 90 then recharge again. That way it doesn't harm that battery.
Now personally I always preferred trickle charging where the phone pulls just enough that it doesn't drain at all, but there has always been debates on if this destroys your battery faster.

During the night your phone charges and the drops to about 90% then up again. That is normal . Nothing to worry about.

[Q] Please Help!!! Battery shoots up automatically.

I usually flash custom roms on my device. But my device has one unusual behaviour. When I charge my device and suppose it is 70 percent charged and I reboot my device within 20-25 minutes, the battery level shows fully charged. (100 percent) After that the battery drains within 2-3 hours. Because of this I charge my device 3-4 times everyday. This happens on every custom rom I install on my device. Should I change my battery or is it the device's fault? Please help.

the percentage increase after reboot is a htc common issue while charging
about the fast drain maybe your battery is dying or doesn't makes contact properly
check it
Thanks for providing this useful information. Do you mean using paper or something that holds the battery tight or I misunderstood something.

exactly that
use something to hold the battery and see if you still have reboots
Actually I think the paper solution won't work. He's not having reboots, just the battery is draining fast. It looks like that your battery is almost died. I think you should buy a new one. And I highly recommend Anker's one.
Thanks once again. Will try.

I didnt want to make a new topic but I have similar problem:
i switched from standart ROM to Cyanogenmod 10 nightly builds for my Sensation Pyramid (original battery, about year old).
Everything worked fine, but there is one more than annoying problem:
I charge phone to 100%, i pull charger out. If i use standard things on phone (settings, gallery etc) everything seems to work fine. As soon as I enter any applications (Twitter, Facebook, default Web Browser) it just shuts down in 20seconds or in 2/3 minutes (always some random time, i can browse web 10 seconds, it shuts down, sometimes i can do the same for a minute and then it shuts down), it doesnt reboot just shuts down.
When I turn it back on, it shows battery level ~ 9-15%. It was 100% just 3minutes ago. I charged it for hours before, so that 100% should be real. I tested with battery drain monitoring app, when i use any apps, battery drops for like 1200% every minute. Its Ok on standby mode.
When i just reboot the phone, it comes up with some random battery percentage, f.e 47%. So it can go from 100% to 7% and after reboot it goes to 47%.
I thought it might be a ROM problem, so I installed this albinoman887 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115520
Did factory reset, cleared cache, phone was 100% charged. But the same problem.
I dont thin its battery problem, because it was OK with stock ROM. Is there anything i can try to fix this problem without going back to stock ROM (or other Sense based ROM)?
Here is a screenshot from my "About phone" section:

Really no advice on this?
Im not so good with Kernels etc., but my guess is- maybe this has something to do with CPU usage? I checked with CPU Spy app, it says Internet explorer, other apps use 1566MHz. Isn't that too much?

Download battery calibration app from Playstore. Wait till your phone is completely drained and turns off. Plug in charger and dont disturb the charging cycle till its complete 100% and then open the app and press the calibrate button. Worked for me on several occasions after flashing roms.

I used battery calibration app by the creator NEMA. try out whichever works best for you.
I have the same problem with you but to be honest no battery calibration app worked, even the mentioned one. The problem is that your battery capacity got lower the last few months. After calibrating my battery my phone switches off from 20% to 8% to 0%. before that it was 15% ->8%->1%->dead.
the proper solution is to buy a new battery to be honest.
BR,
Thanos
I've just calibrated my battery but I noticed something odd. I read that when your battery is full it should be somewhere around 4200mV but mine is more around 4000mV. Is this OK? Or should the best solution be getting a new battery?
I still have my warranty until October this year. Would HTC replace the battery for free or isn't this a part of the warranty?
