Hey everyone. Here's a screenshot I took of my phones battery use. I was just wondering if this rate of discharge is normal. My screen brightness is always let to the lowest possible, all power saving settings enabled, phone overclocked at 1.6 with ondemand governor. I am using the sensay XE35 v 2.1.0. How could I improve battery life, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Screens of the battery use screen would be very helpful.

Did u let ur phone battery cycle a couple times?

Thanks for the reply guys, stabro I've had this Rom for about a week now shouldnt the battery be calibrated by now, or does it need a little longer. And matt, isn't that what I uploaded or is there something else that I need to upload

The screen you were at before you clicked the graph to get what you already posted. It shows a bunch of apps with how much of the battery it's been using.

Oh haha sorry, blacked out for a moment
Here's the shot of that.
I have no idea why it doesn't show actual apps, but I havnt messed with it. I'm assuming its rom related?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

Was your wi-fi on the whole time, and is your cellular service always on even in standby? Changing those can have a large impact. Did you have better battery life on a previous rom? Is it the stock battery, cause if so, the life on it is typically not very good.
I've found in all the Sense roms I have used, display is always right at the top in battery use. I would normally have mine at a set brightness like 45% during the day and 25% at night which would drop display usage a bit. Plus try underclocking instead of your overclocking to 1.6.

That might be because you had plugged it in for a few minutes. It shows the battery usage since the last time it was disconnected.

LBN1 yeah I always keep WiFi on, my phone is always on 2g mode. Before this Rom I was using miui, the battery on that wasn't the best but it would see me get through the day with medium use, and prior to that, ARHD by far best Rom for battery imo. Yeah I still use the stock battery, though I'm thinking about buying another battery.
I've read somewhere, cant remember where lol, that a low signal uses a lot more battery as its constantly searching for a Signal, I think u guys have noticed from screenshots that my house, has very bad reception

Do you use your phone alot? I am gaming alot on the phone during schooltime, and it DRAINS battery (1% per minute almost) And I usually charge my phone when I come home again. And what kernel do you use? I use Bricked 1.6 beta, and it's awesome (1.5ghz ondemand)
Some things that helped me a bit was:
-Calibrate battery
-Undervoltage (download system tuner and hit 6 times on the -12.5v button)
-Juice Defender ultimate (It works really good for me)
Hope it helps

[Q] Intriguing Battery use.

After a full charge to 100%, my battery reports that it holds that 100% charge even through heavy usage, for up to 30 minutes. Anybody else noticing this weird easter-egg?
I noticed this too

Happened to me too. Infact, before the udate, my battery was 80%, after update and reboot, it showed 100% for quite q while and then it started dropping.

+1 same here... Before 78% after new ROM 100% removed battery stats... But no cigar
Maybe this will help..
Remove battery stats.
Plug to the wall charger when the phone is off and let it charge for let's say 5u

I've heard that it's only a good idea to wipe battery stats when the battery's fully charged, not before.
I charged the battery full, calibrated it and now drops normally. Current widget shows me very high consumption, I don't know is it works normally with dual cores.

Definately something strange going on.
I charged my phone up fully last night, took it off charge and went to bed.
This was the battery usage in the morning. Trying to work out why it shows awake and screen on for the entire time.

That's a misleading image.
What that data means is this: of all the energy expended DURING THE NIGHT(according to the photo 1-2%) the energy lost was because the phone was awake at some point, and the screen was on. It DOES NOT mean that your phone was awake/screen on all night. Just that the energy lost during the night was because the phone was awake/screen on for a miniscule portion of the night (somebody texted you or something). Nothing to be distraught over.

Impressive Battery Life?

Hey everyone, I have now had my Nexus S for 3 days and have loved every minute of it.
One of the things that has surprised me is the battery life. Check it out:

I still have 39% battery after two days! This is really amazing I think. Granted I only had 2 phone calls in that time but I have been texting a lot and playing around with settings.
How long does your battery last and do you have any tips on improving battery life?
I am running CM7.1 with Go Launcher Ex and have the brightness set on very low plus I don't use screen orientation switch either.
What is your screen on time?

Sorry I don't know how to find screen on time.
I put my phone on charge after 2 days 22 hours and it was still on 19% but I charged it to be safe because I am expecting a very important phone call.
Calculating data regarding battery stats using morfic TEUV-S22-05102011, you could reach around 80 hours with cell connected but having very little activity.
Same place as that pic but click on display that will have shown display on time

wow.... 3h 24min display time and still 39% battery? amazing.

Battery Life on Android Revolution HD

I am creating this thread as a thread for people to post screenshots of their battery life, instead of having to go through the over 3,000 pages on the ARHD thread in the Android development section.
I am still on the second battery cycle, and will post results in a day or two.
but feel free to post yours. I think it will help people decide if they want to use this ROM or not.
Seems like a pretty good idea, I will take a pic when I can
I have no pictures, but when I was using ARHD i get about seven hours moderate use.

Hi everyone, I'm using ARHD too and having a question. To a few first charge cycles for the new ROM to settle down, do I need to let it drains completely (dies) and then charge it to 100%? Or I just need to charge the phone till it reach under 15% without turning it off?
Thanks in advance,

37 hours with 3% left.

Lots of similar threads around.
Seems to me what is really useful to know is the current drain during standby (as logged by current widget or other similar prog). My opinion at least is, when you're using the phone to do stuff, it's gonna drain battery at a rate depending on what you're doing and how fast you're doing it, so that has little to do with the ROM. But when the phone is in standby for the other 10 or 20 hours, if it's draining 300ma or 3ma is what makes the big difference to battery life. I'm seeing 2:1 differences just by putting a different radio in! And as far as I'm concerned, stock, insertcoin, ARHD, whatever... any one would be fine feature wise, but it's much more important to me to have a phone that will last a full hard day without a charge. And a 2 day cycle would trump all other details. So I'm experimenting with different ROMs, kernels, radios and RILs to try to find the magic combination.
And BTW, FWIW, so far, ARHD with Bricked kernel and recommended radio seems to be best (at about 40ma), and I've seen a lot of others reaching the came conclusion. But I remember reading a thread where a guy was showing 1 to 3ma! (it wasn't a sensation though, but an HTC of some sort), so I think there's room for improvement somewhere!
See this thread also:

Current widget draining battery on Sensation
I used current widget a time or two to monitor my drainage with ARHD 6.5.X and the drain on standby was around 45-60mahwith spikes up to 150... Drained my battery within 14 hours. Uninstalled it - easily had juice left 18 hours later or so when I hooked it back up to the charger..
The battery life in standby is pretty good, however I've found that when playing a game, the battery drops about 10% every 15 minutes which is very concerning. I'm running ARHD 41.0. My battery life used to be just fine while playing graphic intensive games on the stock ROM. It concerns me.

Battery life

I see people posting about 12 hr - 24 hr battery this is what I get with cpu at 1.6xx wifi on 24hr no cell sip calling moderate use

If you want better battery life, I can suggest a few things.
Buy a better battery, flash a non sense rom(sense takes up a lot of battery), shut off your gps, turn down your brightness, if those still don't help, there might be a rogue app in the background . Use system tuner to find it.
What like cm9 I was on fence I guess I will try it bright on auto no money for battery

I find this hard to believe. I've tried all three, non-sense, sense, and AOSP. I get about the same battery life (screen on, max brightness, active use; 3.25 hours). That's whether or not I strip most of the useless applications out.
Anyway, OP, best I can tell you is to remove that Sense 4 rom. Seriously, they're not 100% ready for our phones and may never be. Any instabilities or issues you have using them are your own doing.

I disagree that Sense takes up a lot of battery. I've run AOSP, Sense and Senseless ROMs and to be honest, they take up about the same amount of battery. But yes, turn down your brightness (don't use auto-brightness) and try another ROM. I've generally found Sense 4 ROMs to have greater battery drain, which I believe can't be helped at the moment considering that they're ports and the devs are still working hard to make them stable/smooth.
I've got stock battery and I can definitely get more than 12 hours with moderate use.
you should disable automatic brightness if you want better battery life, but there is really something wrong with your sensation, try to install the newest firmware and do a full wipe and a new install of the rom you prefer.

Battery issues

I'm getting pretty horrid battery life. I'm not sure what to do to help improve? This is with brightness as low as possible. Screen time is 2.5 hours. Battery saving is on for everything beside regulating cpu speed. Rooted but with stock Rom.

There have been a few people who complained about this. It seems to be a problem with some of the phones. If this has been happening since you got it out shortly after, then it's probably the phone or battery. You might need to unroot and exchange it. Using battery tips or programs will only gain you about 10%.
If you're rooted try CPU Sleeper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5ldWdlbmUzNzMuY3B1LnNsZWVwIl0.
It turns off one of the cores while your screen is off, which should help standby time.
Using a non-stock rom and kernel can also greatly help your battery, but it seems as though you want to stay stock.
Lastly, how's your signal? That's all I can really think of that would cause the S3 to have bad battery life. The S3 usually lasts a pretty long time.
Try GSAM battery monitor or Better Battery stats to find which app or service is drawing your battery. I've seen in other threads where giff_daemon and media server is causing lots of wakelocks and draining people's batteries.
Turn off sync, mobile data unless your actively using it, flash some other ROM and run Imos .07 kernel(aosp) or Kt747. Check what services are running. Freeze or disable ones you don't need.
Want mine to look like this unless I'm running an app.

Let not recommend custom rom/kernel etc.. Stock S3 should be very good on battery. You should find out exactly what drains your batter by using battery stats. Also enable battery saver mode and auto brightness. Turn off data sync, 4G, wifi, blue tooth and GPS (only turn them only when you needed) and see if it improved. Between using battery stats and turning off all the high drain options, we should able to pin point exactly what the draining source. A normal usage with stock rom, you should able to get around 4-5 hrs of screen on for normal usage.

Try setting up juicedefender, if you don't use your phone that often and battery still drains it will help. I use it at work since I don't use my phone, I have the ultimate version.
