I downloaded the Backup System Apps from here ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1209425
I put the DeskClok.apk on the sd card then I tryed to install, but it give me an error ..
how do I install this or any other APK into the system/app folder ?
is this okey to install on Galaxy Gio 2.2.1 FROYO ???
What is the error? because that helps give you an answer.
Do you have your settings to allow installs from outside the market?
Go to settings, applications, Unkown sources and tick the box.
What error are u getting?
I'm getting this error .. "error analysis ... there is a problem with the analysis package"
(don't know if its well translated .. I'm portuguese, so I get the error in portuguese)
I put it on the SD card .. clik in it and it give me this error ..
It probably said problem parsing the package. It maybe that that file is corrupted so look for a different one and try it.
well .. that was the only one I find here .. for galaxy gio
I accidentally deleted my DeskClock.apk ... I tried to search for it but none are the original clock for gio ...
I hoped this was the one .. don't you know how can I get the original DeskClock.apk for GIO 2.2.1 Froyo ??
Ok let me see what I can do.
thanks a lot
i'll be waiting for a reply !!
Ok considering deskclock a standard app here's a link download one of these apk's to see if it works try the newest ones first.
http://search.4shared.com/search.html?searchmode=2&searchName=deskclock+apk
You can even download from your phones browser to make it easier. Just make sure you have unknown apps checked.
thanks a lot ..
i'll try it now ..
Just hit the thanks button if I helped its a non-dev like me got.
System apps are not signed, so they cannot be installed through the normal way. You'll need Root Explorer or another root level file explorer. EStrongs File Explorer is free - you may need to enable root access in settings. I highly recommend getting Root Explorer if you can. It's on sale for $.99 in the Amazon App Store and possibly in the market. I purchased it from the market so I can't see the price right now.
Anyway, I'll give you the directions with Root Explorer, but they may be a little different with another app. Navigate to where you have the apk on your SD card. Long-press on the apk and select copy, then use the up level button (at the top of the folders, marked as "... " ) until you can't go any further. You'll be at the root directory of your phone. Open the system folder and select "mount r/w" near the top left, then app (you'll be in /system/app) and select the paste button. Long-press on the deskclock.apk and select "permissions" from the menu. Mark it so it looks like this:
Read Write
Read
Read
Then reboot your phone & it should be there.
Alternatively, you could reflash your rom without wiping data to get the app back. Reflashing will override any changes you've made to the system, and any apps you've deleted will need to be deleted again. Good luck!

Thanks a lot .. your tutorial about root explorer is really explicit .. I dindn't know it would be that easy .. i'll purchase and try it now
About Reflashing ...

You have to push the files using adb, not install them with adb or a file manager on the device.
as manup said,
libt9.so goes in /lib
and the apk goes in app dir

installing the htc_ime.apk
1. get the htc_ime.apk file
2. get a file explorer (OI, ASTRO, or any file explorer)
3. put the htc_ime.apk on the root of or sdcard or somewhere in ur sdcard where u can find it
4. go to Settings->Application
5. check the unknown sources feature
6. go to ur file explorer
7. tap on the apk file, it should give u an install option
8. follow the instructions and install it.
9. if its not showing even if its checked on the locale/text settings, then go and long press on any text box, and it should give u an Input method selection, select the Touch input radio button, then ur done.
if u wanna do it via adb, you can try and look up instructions, but this is the easiest way i can think of and i made the instructions as clear as i can.
thanks man
Weird i seem to install but when i start to use it .it force closes all the time !!!

Dear All,
First thankyou so much for the great forum we have here, I am using Huawei Ideos u8150, the fone is network locked so I played around, being a total noob I started with installing sdk, and rooted my fone using z4root, rooting was successful
No when I try to copy a modified build.prop to the systems folder in root explorer, the file is copies but is not visible, also I have deleted the original build.prop & I am afraid to reboot the fone,
can restoring the fone to factory settings solve this ? also how come I copy the file to system folder, it gets copied and I still cant see it ?
I have tried pushing the file using ADB command line but the device refuses to mount (persmission denied)
I would really be thankful to anyone who can guide a noob like me, if you dont this forum has enough reasons to love it already,
cheers !

Moderators if by any chance I have placed this query in the wrong part of forum, please let me know in which part I should raise it, thanks !
In the top right hand corner or left it should be a r/o button. If you push that to r/w which is read/write you will be able to copy the bp correctly. Don't forget to mount as r/o which is read only before you exit RE. Then reboot. If you made a backup which you should have done before modding the bp you will be ok to reboot. If anything goes wrong just do a restore. Also you can Redownload the current rom your on to your cpu. Then extract it to a folder on your desktop. Then browse threw all the folders untill you see the stock build prop. Copy&paste it to your sd and that's your stock build prop. Hope this helps. Good luck

thanks a million for the help, would apprciate if you can point it what I am doing wrong

Since you managed to delete a native app, I'm asuming that you're rooted.
1. Find the app you deleted by checking the dev section and download the ROM. (Or google the apk name. If you find it then skip 2)
2. Extract the ROM (Zip) and find the APK you need.
3. Transfer the APK to your SD card.
4. Open/Install ES File Explorer (from the Market)
5. Enter app settings (in ES) and gain root and system file read/write permission (flick the toggles)
6. Copy the APK to /system/app
7. Exit ES File Explorer
8. Done
Sent from my DHD on a weekend, so I'm probably drunk.

First this app will only work on a stock/stock base ROM. Second, you need a root file app, like root explorer or root browser. In root explorer you have to select to give r/w permission.
Go to the location of the app, long press it and select copy. Then navigate back to
/system/app and paste it. Then long press it again, select permissions and make it rw-r--r--. Then reboot
Hopefully this will install for you. If it doesn't than the apk itself would need to be modified.
One last thing, if you have another sec.player.apk in system/app, you might need to change it from .apk to .bak then reboot before you begin the other process. You can just rename it back to
.apk and make sure permissions are right then reboot to re-enable it.
Lies, spewed poetically from galaxy S3!
So this was quit the headache at first. I could not download install any app was getting insufficient storage error. I worked on the problem most of the day and could not find a guide to help me solve the problem.
I finally after hours figures it out and it's super simple. This is only for rooted users though.
1) download or use your favorite root browser es file browser works I prefer Rom toolbox myself.
2) locate googleserviceframework.apk and note the version of your framework file and then delete it. Path to file is /system/priv_apps/
3) navigate to a web browser type in googleserviceframwork.apk followed by the version number mine ended in 038.
4) search for a suitable download
5) navigate to your download folder find the apk and copy it and and renavigate your way back to /system/priv_app/ and paste file. Change permissions to rw r r and then reboot device.
6) go to play store and update any system or Google apps. EverythingEverything should download and install fine now.
Do not forget to get the proper framework file or more problems Will arise from the process of installation.
I take no responsibilitie for problems that arise but I shall help in any way possible if needed. If this helped u then give a thanks :good:.
If this is made elsewhere then by all means delete it but I searched for hours and could not find a suitable solution.
Cheers and have a good day.
