ok so i finally found a rom that i love which is leedroid......but know i wanna what kernel is my best option????? im looking at some battery saving kernels lol.....if there is such a thing.....and does the camera mode really work?
Stock maybe best at third this time. The only other option is Virtuous v7, I'm testing it right now but it doesn't seem any better than stock right now. Mind you its only day one so time will tell.

Preliminary results don't seem that flash, but I am running at 1.5 ghz.

If you want battery life, you could also underclock to 1 GHz. However, you will need a kernel that supports OC/UC
Swyped from my HTC Sensation
What's recommended for the leedroid ROM?

Right now every kernel save Stock is built for 2.3.3, so I recommend staying stock for now. Lee added smartass governor so the kernel embedded in LD 2.2 may be better than full stock.
Unity V6 and V7 work with 2.3.4 ROMs, but my testing showed no advantages in speed or battery usage. YMMV of course.
For now, I would be patient and wait until HTC posts source code for 2.3.4 kernels. When that happens you can expect s flood of scaling, overclocking and battery saving kernels. For now, I recommend staying stock.

Ok weird......I see everyone talking about unity v6 and v7........I'm using v8 right now

I use Leedroid with its own kernel will run nice and very very easy on battery
I second leedroid. I've literally tried Android revolution hd, coredroid, and leedroid, and leedroid seems to be the fastest, smoothest, and stable as far as I'm concerned with the ability to o/c up to 1.8ghz if you're into that sort of thing. Thanks developers!

i find Gingerbeast to be best on battery, as well as really stable. If you don't want sense and want Gingerbread 2.3.4 the way Google meant it, this is your Rom. Quick, smooth, and reliable.
How is cm7 on the inspire?

Cm7 is marvelous

i have leedroid...first rom i have tried and it seems very stable and quick, im also using leedroid's kernel
cant say too much about battery life yet, but it seems pretty good
8 hours 48 mins.... from 98 to 67% with light usage...
I'm using CM7, and my battery lasts almost twice as long, with just a few apps running. IMO, HTC Sense is the problem causing massive battery drain. But I tend to like Android as it was intended to be.
CM7 or anything based on it is great. It's ran the smoothest for me.

are you guys using cm7 or cm7 nightly?
whats the difference anyways?
yea ill admit im trying to get my post count up, i could search....but i want to leave feedback in the dev section sooo....
I have found these 2 Roms the best for battery life.
Cleardroid and CM7 (not nightly)
Nightlies are updated pretty much every day. Not "stable" and experimental. I'm currently running CM7 Nightly 84 (downloading 85 right now) and i have pretty good battery life using LordMod's UEv2.0 VIO kernel with -25 script. I jumped on board the CM7 Nightly train from Android Revolution 5.1.5 (now 5.1.7) to try out Netflix, which works great. Though my battery life with ARHD 5.1.5 and I think it was Apache's kernel was fricking amazing. I could go two days between charges with normal/light usage.
Men there are many roms, i thing the Best is CoreDroid v6.6 Even leeDroid (Reboot issue)
Inspired ACE 1.0.1 + MDJ's Kernel V19
This is my Inspire after moderate use, always WIFI ON.
FaceBook+Twitter+Weather // Updating Data every Hour.
I tested every single Rom (I have 3 Inspires) this is THE BEST combination I found for battery life.

+1
I have tried so many different ROMS and have always come back to Inspired Ace 1.0.1 I have it heavily modded with lots of Sense 3.0 components and still the battery life is more than exceptable for me and the performance (even moderatly overclocked to 1.21) is clean and smooth.
i do have to say though that if you dont want the Sense experience then CM7 has to be the best out there. but for my taste i like the frills and bling theat Sense provide.
P.S. keep in mind that overclocking, even moderately is not recomended. And since all hardware reacts differently your inspire may not tolerate being overclocked or it may tolerate it even better than mine. Battery life as always is not an objective reference but subjective my use may be far less than yours and it all depends on what you are using it for.
so many to choose from, i keep going back to cm7 based personally. Recently been using mdj cm7.1.0 v1.4 with the latest lordmod kernal PUV. The rom can be found in the Desire HD section. Just flash the audio fix after flashing the rom. So fast yet has the least battery drain. On standby, I hardly draw any juice at all! TPGB is a great choice as well!
I have my wife's inspire running Inspired Saga (100% stable) using the 12.35..... radio and juice defender app. She avgs 1d 4hrs on a single charge. And yes that includes a few hours of angry birds. She has been running it for the last month. And i have yet to do anything to it since flashing the rom. No fc's no reboots etc. It runs flawlessly.
I'm on revolutionary 3.01 for sense

just like roms, its personal preference...for me, unity v7 works best of custom kernels for speed/smoothness, but the stock htc kernel for 2.3.4 is still the best when it comes to battery life/stability
Ok, first off, it's spelled KERNEL. There is no "a" in the word "kernel".
Now, I personally believe that Stock works the best as of right now in terms of battery life, so long as you have the correct radio and RIL combination. Custom kernels are good for over clocking, assuming you want to impress people with "good quadrant scores" and the like. But honestly, they yield a lesser battery life and higher temperature compared to stock. So if you intend on leaving your charger at home, I recommend any rom with stock kernel (ie CoreDroid, rooted Rom, Senseless, etc).
The stock kernel is best right now if you're not overclocking and other mods.
Can someone give me link to stock kernel and radio?

kinda of likr the title says i am looking for a rom hat does good on battery and not getting warm
Tried the two revolution roms and made phone warm as did the xboarder rom.
Any ideas which i should try next?
I have the best results with Energy. I have tried every ROM and always come back to Energy.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I am running ARHD v3.6.1 as well and my phone is warm as well...I flashed the Bricked Kernel v1.2 and that has made a difference, but not significantly. I tried clocking back to 1.2Ghz but that has made no difference.
I have been running BK with v3.6.x and not had one reboot, just the warm phone problem.
I'm using energy oct3 version right now but phone is getting warm, but could just b the kernel using bricked v1.2, but when I was on oct2 version everything was amazing, phone never got hot, and battery life was amazing, and this is wwith brightness at 85% all the time, 4g on, and texting consatlly, couple calls and 6 hrs of music. Think I'm going to go back to stock kernel on Oct 3 version n if don't help I will b going back to oct2 version.

Nice will try energy then arhd wasn't a getting that good of battery life. The phone ran great just got warm.
try pyramid3D. its great. im running it right now. good battery life and rarely gets hot
InsertCoin! I'm telling you, this rom is quick, great battery life when you underclock it to 1.2ghz from the default 1.5ghz and it's amazing with the updates it gets, and get's better all the time. Great dev support as well.
if you can be bothered to read through the arhd thread (i know its huge) but theres some stuff about changing thermal config in there mite be useful to you
Faux kernels run really cool on my phone. I apply the thermal patch too but I don't know if it is necessary. You can his kernels on pretty much any rom.

I guess he doesn't have one listed under the Sense thread, but he has a reset file if necessary.

how will i install the thermal patch? im already running faux's beta kernel. do i just wipe cache and flash the patch?
I just flash it after flashing the kernel

Hit the report button on the right side.
CoreDroid, there are reports of well over 48 hours on light/medium use
Sense-o-Maniac ROMs are working great for me. Or at least the gingerbread versions.
I am still hooked on ENERGY, it is stable, fast and the battery lasts the whole day and that is good because I am a Power User and with stock ROM I was down to 25-30% battery by 11:30 in the morning.
It is Gingerbread, but the Chef is working on ICS now
the ARHD 6.2.1 use 70ma in average in idle (measured with battery monitor)
We could compare the values in idle to start à comparison between roms
its difficult to say,
it depends on your usage of your phone
and its not only the rom, with other kernels and oc/uv deamons you are able to extend the battery life more
for my self, im using elegancia 2.3 and get about 55mA in idle
but thats with set-cpu-profiles and the SebationFM#1 kernel

yes of course you're right
my idea was to compare the "stock" custom rom
with the included radio/kernel
ARHD 6.2.1 XE is kernel sebFM#1 and radio 11.68..._11.21...
Im curious to know what i should be trying

Bricked, haven't track Anthrax and Faux kernel always seems to have a lower FPS in the UI no matter what rom or version of Android I've tried.
Bricked.
Show always puts out solid stuff!
I'm trying bricked and so far so good

Bricked...find battery life better that overclocked kernel. And sweep2wake is great.
SebastianFM Overclocked kernel v1.4.1
This one is the best for me... 1728Mhz version is stable for me... Battery consumption is great (average use with wifi always on can last up to 2 days.. Using with set-cpu app to limit the higher frequency border sometimes when cpu power is not needed..
Faux. Very responsive, great battery life.
another bricked here. i thought sweep-to-wake was just a gimmick but after using it a little while i'd miss it if i couldn't have it. plus bricked is fast and stable and great battery.
Sebastians for my current rom....
I'm also using SebastianFM 1.4.1 kernel at 1782 mhz. Very stable and smooth. The battery life is fine for me, better than stock.
Don't know about anyone else, but I don't use 'kernals'...
I use 'kernels'
Just saying...
I use Faux123 v004, I tried different kernels and this is for me the best, it don't need setcpu to uc when screen is off and battery drain is so good (since 20h30mn I used 25% with normal utilization)..
Bricked

Faux. great battery life.
Bricked. best performance and good battery life. Phone doesn't heat up that much anymore unlike when I was using faux. I love the fact that you can set what are the default values you like for the Max/Min/Screenoff and choose also your preferred GPU OC. Very stable and very balanced.
Using v0.61
ShowP also offers great support for the kernel and its users. He is now currently working on Sweep2wake and sweep2lock. It's a great feauture that lets you easily wake and lock the screen just by swiping the softkey.
