+1 works great on OrDoid 2.0.? ......
Bricked, haven't track Anthrax and Faux kernel always seems to have a lower FPS in the UI no matter what rom or version of Android I've tried.
Bricked.
Show always puts out solid stuff!
I'm trying bricked and so far so good

Bricked...find battery life better that overclocked kernel. And sweep2wake is great.
SebastianFM Overclocked kernel v1.4.1
This one is the best for me... 1728Mhz version is stable for me... Battery consumption is great (average use with wifi always on can last up to 2 days.. Using with set-cpu app to limit the higher frequency border sometimes when cpu power is not needed..
Faux. Very responsive, great battery life.
another bricked here. i thought sweep-to-wake was just a gimmick but after using it a little while i'd miss it if i couldn't have it. plus bricked is fast and stable and great battery.
Sebastians for my current rom....
I'm also using SebastianFM 1.4.1 kernel at 1782 mhz. Very stable and smooth. The battery life is fine for me, better than stock.
Don't know about anyone else, but I don't use 'kernals'...
I use 'kernels'
Just saying...
I use Faux123 v004, I tried different kernels and this is for me the best, it don't need setcpu to uc when screen is off and battery drain is so good (since 20h30mn I used 25% with normal utilization)..
Bricked

Faux. great battery life.
Bricked. best performance and good battery life. Phone doesn't heat up that much anymore unlike when I was using faux. I love the fact that you can set what are the default values you like for the Max/Min/Screenoff and choose also your preferred GPU OC. Very stable and very balanced.
Using v0.61
ShowP also offers great support for the kernel and its users. He is now currently working on Sweep2wake and sweep2lock. It's a great feauture that lets you easily wake and lock the screen just by swiping the softkey.

Well title says it all. The best for you and why? I'm about to flash one but i'm not sure which of them... Thank you
For me it is viper because of the tweaks and the battery life I was able to get with it.

+1 for ViperS.
ViperS definitely

Again with the ROM comparisons, how many times do people have to be told - dont do it, it can be rude and offensive to chefs!
What might be best for someone might not be best for someone else, the only way to find out is to try.
ViperS for me so far, I found the overclocked 1.4.1 kernel made it even smoother!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
All of them! Try some and report back...
ViperS for me too!
Even underclocked my SensationXE to 1,18 GHz, normal Sensation frequency. Rom is still very smooth, reacts very well and the battery life is great!
Obviouslly ViperSs 1.0.1
GO FOR IT....Everything's working Butter smooth, No any issue...
:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
I just flashed Viper for my first ROM. I am very pleased with it, but I am still waiting for the battery to settle down a little. Burning a little quicker than stock right now, but things should get better.
My Sensation is running OrDroid 9.0.0 Sense 4.0 Rom. It gets warm/hot when using simple apps like facebook, messaging, Youtube, etc... I had this problem since last year too. I got my Sensation since August of last year.

Don't do gpu over clock then.. That will cool down your device a bit.. Also.. Try some under volting the kernel (there is a uv mod.. You can use that) .. It prevents heating a bit too

I'm not overclocked though. I'm on the standard frequency, 1.2Ghz. I'm also on bricked kernal if that helps. What does decreasing the voltage do, or what voltage should I have?

You should try that for yourself because not every device can handle every voltage decreasing the voltage makes that there is not so much electricity going trough the CPU you save battery and your battery is not overheating so fast

Mine did too with both stock and ARHD roms. Thought its the battery getting getting warm for the longest time but it turned out to be CPU/GPU. I'm using Viper S now and do not overclock CPU/GPU. Works well and heat is down significantly. Still gets warm occasionally (GPS, Browser, Google Now) but not as much and battery last longer.
I tried Vipers S Rom but everything ran VERY choppy and what govner do you recommend to get that cold GPU/CPu effect?

When you try different ROMs and have query ask in the right ROM forum. You'll have a better chance for a right answer.
There isn't a tremendous amount of things you can do to bring down the temperature significantly. As everyone said, under volting, and under clocking can do a little bit.
It isn't a big problem, because it shouldn't pass, from what I remember, 43-46 degrees Celsius. Of course it will vary with what your doing, playing games will make it hotter, especially if you are in a hot environment.
Don't worry too much about it.

Hi guys, I was just wondering which ROM is the best for battery life. I am looking for any AOKP based ROM like Bruces CM10. I've heard that Android Revolution HD is the best battery life ROM, but I don't like the theme that its based on HTCs stock rom. Any suggestions for good ROMs for battery life?
I'm currently on Bruces CM10, lasts approximately 12 hours with about 2hrs and 30 minutes on screen usage (medium).
Try out a few different roms and see what works best for you. I like paranoid Android personally but you need to try out several roms and see which gives you personally the best battery life. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes. Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
Thank you, however could anyone tell me which ROM out of these two has the best battery life?

Been using ARHD 6.8.0 on a Sensation and the other half's XE. Using sebastianFM kernel.
Slight undervolt and running at up to 1.5ghz. It goes easily a full day of moderate to heavy use. Can get 2 with light use.

it really depends on how you configure your phone and the kernel to preserve more battery life.

Yeah, at the moment I put my brightness on the lowest, turn wifi off when I can, and undervolted to 1024Ghz and I can just manage about 2 and a half of hours medium usage over a span of 12 hours.
Oh Iv been hearing about Virtious Inquistion ROM, hows the battery on that?
Also the ViperS 1.4.1 rom, can someone give me an insight to the battery on that?
HyperNonSense
Hey guys, just wondering what everyone's thoughts on the variety of kernels for the new viperS rom. What are you all using and what is your performance, fluidity and battery life like? What kernel or rom mods are you using and why? What effects are you achieving?
I'm curious to see what our sensations can do!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
The first one one the kernels download list in venom hub.
ondemandX 192-1188
undervolt of 100
gpu2d/3d by default..no oc
disabled location, gmail, and other htc apps/services
no facebook, twitter or any similiar active programs.
I'm running the same kernel with no over clock or under volt of any kind. Location on, Facebook on, what's app and viber and 4hr poll on exchange mail. Wifi on and 2g data when Wifi not available, 83 per cent after 4 hours and 20 minutes standby.

I use faux atm. Phone runs much smoother, but my battery life was hit hard by this...
Think the next kernel I'll try is the forbidden one.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
I must agree, faux is definitely the smoothest and snappiest kernel, at least on my phone, but same as you, battery is hit hardest, but I find hardest hit on standby, but reasonable on active usage.
SebastianFm is, on my device, definitely the most stable, but less modded. A nice simple kernel. Coupled with the flashable aroma mod from iba21, it's extremely battery friendly, yet still satisfactory in performance.
Bricked with its flashable mod is also very battery friendly in idle, but I find it hits hardest on active usage.
Pyd kernel, although I've read good things about this kernel, I don't really fancy flashing boot images and the like, so I can't comment on it personally. I would like to hear more on this kernel though, from active users

i am using Faux10b7. At 192 min 1566max cpu
gpu over clocked to 300, no zram, -100ma underclock.
Everything is smooth. Phone gets heated only when playing games.
i agree using faux is the best for performance, no lags and delays, everything is smooth... been using the forbidden one just moments ago, so far it is good, but remember to nandroid backup before you install and try different kernels esp. the forbidden one.

Hi all,
just wanna say that I'm finally fully satisfied with my phone in it's current state.
I used to mess around with different ROM's, ARHD, CM, elegancia. Untill now none of the setups managed to yield a stable an smooth working phone. I had poor perfomance, random shutdowns and poor battery life (especially when I used CM9 I couldn't get it to stay unplugged for more then 7 hours). tried everything in the book to make it work. Up to the point where I was starting to regret that I rooted my phone.
untill now, I made sure the contacts with the battery is firmly attached, I installed CM10.1 (need to adjust siggy) and now my phone is finally kickin. It's rock stable, smooth and fast! At night, with WiFi on it's actualy idle! it's like losing 1% battery in 10 hours. With JB and perfomance governor the UI transitions are just eyecandy smooth. I guess the main problem was the battery pins, think they weren't attaced properly.
With no shutdowns, no battery drain, fun with CM tweaks, UI altering capabilities and a Quadrant Standard score of 3301 I've finally got the feeling that I'm on the pinnacle of my phone's perfomance capabillities.
With provider subscription prices skyrocketing in my country, and my phone in it's current state I'm eager to keep this phone another year with a sim-only subscription.
so thanks all for the help

the 4 pins that connect the battery to the phone. I stuffed a piece of paper between the upper right corner of the battery and the phone battery housing. This way the battery will be pressed more firmly against the pins to ensure better contact.
Glad to hear you are happy. I would love to be able to use CM10.1 based ROM's but sadly, I need my TMobile WiFi Calling support. Hopefully, TMOUS will release a JB friendly version of WiFi calling... until then, its Elegancia for me!

Governor: Perfomance on min 384, max 1566
I/O scheduler: SIO
no tweaks as far as I know
Exactly like you, I have tested a lot of roms, and the best one for my Sensation is CM10.1 4.2.2 by Albinoman!
My governor is lagFree, because I don't think it's good for the phone to be on performance all the time (maybe I'm wrong!). With Atom Launcher, it's the best compromise (personal experience) for a smooth and fast Sensation.
okay couldn't find an off topic thread so I'm posting here ! Okay my phone is S-off, blackrose hboot running jellybean. I understand the process will be similar.
Okay so my mate has an XE. Will the methods be universal? He has a stock, ill find his hboot later. I'm guessing a HTC dev unlock is possible ? Then I flash the boot image. ( fastboot flash boot boot.IMG ) Also could I have an idea of a nice smooth and stable Rom?
Sorry for messy post. Cheers

XE is nothing more then a normal sensation with OC'd CPU, different battery and beats audio pre-installed.
So I guess you want to root a stock, locked bootloader with S-ON Sensation XE and flash a custom ROM? If so any of the different ROMs in android development section are smooth and stable ROMs. It depends on your preferences, do you want sense or no-sense, Jelly Bean or Ice Cream Sandwich?
HTC dev unlock is possible (without getting S-OFF). But that depends on what the current hboot is right now. u could for example also run the juepunutbear tool and install that hboot to get unlocked bootloader.
look up the hboot info of your mate's XE and find the apropiate method to unlock, flash recovery and custom ROM in any of the guides on this board. Depending on what kind of FW you're running right now, and what FW you want to be using you might need to update it.
can't really say if a proces is similar if we don't know what kind of FW we're dealing with.
THANKS, I'm not sure what you mean by FW. However I know how to flash and ill give a look at that s-off tool. I'll find his Hboot and report back. He is on latest ics so I'm guessing its newest. Yer I switch between sense and AOSP. So ill look and find what he wants . Thanks for your help.

Man, all I know is that I switched to Viper S for the week after using CM10 for half the year and couldn't deal. I like sense, but the trade-off when it comes to lag just isn't worth it. Yes there's a better camera and better signal without question, but boy was it laggy. Had to reboot so many times because I thought the phone just froze up. Can't go back from jelly bean now

The Sensation is nowhere near its max potential
Once ION is fully functional (camera working with ION, framebuffer driven by ION, etc.) then the Sensation will be near its max potential.
