Checked it this morning just to see what I was at. 16k, 18k afternoon, now 21k mb with six hours left in the day. All the moaning about the death star, I stay with em for a reason.
This is insane, haha
How the hell did you use 21 gigabytes in 3 days.
Also, people like you ruined the unlimited data for the rest of us.

Not throttled because you grandfathered in the Unlimited Data plan before they capped it a few months ago. Next time you re-up you will probably be forced to sign a limited data plan contract

Nope...as long as he doesn't get rid of the plan he will be fine. But the rest of us are stuck with 2GB max. I only pay for the 200mb because I am too cheap to get the 2GB. I prefer wifi anyway because it is faster.

Flashman is correct. Plus throttling refers to bumping someone down to a slower network like 2g. Tmo has a 5 gig cap on unlimited before they slow you down.

There are people on hear that still have the $15 unlimited data. It's in the contract, all you are doing is renewing the contract. Extending it. I was hitting 10 gb on my razr2 feature phone way back when I first signed up. Got a fuze and had to switch to smartphone unlimited. On the fuze, I averaged about 40 gigs. Only way it's changing is if they charge for 4g like sprint. Which I'll gladly do.

I just got off the phone with tmobile. I realize why people are getting horrible 4g speeds. Well guys and gals. We have all been screwed. I was paying the same price now for 10gigs of high speed data.
What we are paying for is a simple 200mb of data. That is all. 200mb which u can use in a day. So now it will cost me the same price i pay for cable and internet to use my damn phone!

Maybe what you were paying for was for only 200mb but not all of us. I'm on the 5GB plan for $30 but I get a $10 discount so I pay $20 for unlimited (but throttled after 5gb of use)
Yeah i wasn't aware of that. It's all good now. I did the 2 gig. I went back the last 3 months and noticed i averaged around 1.5 gb so it's all good.
Interesting, I just did a side by side speed test between my g2x and my sensation. My g2x constantly got faster download speeds. I was getting between 3mbps and 6 mbps on the g2x, I was only getting 1.5mbps-3mbps on the sensation. upload speeds were about the same.

I'm on 5GB for $20 a month also.
My fastest so far has been 7.89Mbs and 1.7Mbs up. That's in southern LA County. When I move into North OC my speeds drop to 2Mbs and .8Mbs up, but when I get into Irvine my speeds jump back up to the 6Mbs range. It really depends on how strong your signal is, whether or not you're on HSPA+ towers and how many people are using it. When i'm at disneyland with my vibrant I have 4 bars and data creeps.

When throttled there is an obvious note on the account on their end that the phone has been throttled.
What department did you speak with, and what is your current data usage
4.2 gb of data used and i spoke to data support. Cycle ends on the 20th.
My speed using the new apn. Its not a big deal because im not in a LTE area yet but its just the principle of it.
Same thing is happening to me right now. Only used 1.8gb of data and I'm getting 0.05-0.1 speed. I called AT&T and they told me that I'm not throttled, my cycle ends on the 18th. I don't know wtf is wrong with AT&T but I'm sick and tired of the crap they're pulling. I won't be surprised if they start throttling unlimited data users around 1-2GB. I guess I'll be using my monthly 4G T-Mobile sim for now.
So your saying they credited you the price of the data plan for getting throttled?
Now I'm seriously tempted to go try this, even though I'm not throttled, because I really love screwing AT&T.
They credited me for $36 to be exact. They're the ones who stated that i shouldn't be throttled, so why should i pay for service that isn't working. Everytime they screw up, they should credit your account. People who let them slide are crazy.

I usually just use the skyrocket to do a quick login and do what I need to do. Since AT&T is throttling for no reason now, i'm gonna tether my laptop for work off my skyrocket. I usually would never do that but they clearly are throttling me and not admitting it.
Same here. I called ATT cs and actually got to tier 3 support they said I was not Throttled. But admitted that there had been several reports. They suggested I use an Alternate APN (that was a suprise). I was already using the "phone" APN hack that is discussed in another thread. It is hard to tell the BS from the truth with them. They said they would get back to me, but I am not holding my breath. Hope my alternate APN keeps working. BTW I am not in a LTE market.

They already are. I hit 2,000 MB smack dab on, and throttled instantly.
AT&T offered to exchange my phone - without admitting that i was throttled.
the only way i could confirm i was throttled was:
1) my speeds (lol)
2) if i log into www.att.com/wireless and look at recent data usage, my "2041 mb of unlimited" is in RED - and normally its in green
im at 40gb now after 3 days of being throttled (few tricks, hspa, phone apn, then lots of netflix etc)
wonder if i can push 100gb this month
Very interesting indeed. They claimed yesterday that there has been no change in policy. Users will continue to be notified and unless the user is speaking to the wrong person, there is no reason one would be told they are not throttled when they are.

So, the big question is
Do we get seperate caps or is it 5GB if we have an LTE device?
I know there are times I am not on LTE(depending on the area) Does the HSPA+ count towards the LTE limit?
Now I never get close to 3GB but still would like to know.

I think for an LTE imei registered smartphone it's 5gb. I can live with this, pretty much like the other carriers. If you don't have an lte, you're more likely going to get one in the future anyways. Now, let's see that data sharing policy in place ;-)

Also I would like to think when we move to "5G" and such out data limits will increase. I think att knew they couldn't do this so they where super aggressive to make people drop their plans and only the diehards are left. Now that they reached a breaking point they are now being more fair. Yay for that Guy who sued them lol

When they say they will throttle us LTE users at 5GB, does that mean they are going back to the 2G edge speeds for the rest of the billing cycle, making our phones once again unusable, or is it going to be more of a Verizon type of throttling where it's only if it's during a certain peak-usage time on a congested tower, and even then it's down to 3G speeds?
If it's the latter, I am pleased. 5GB of LTE and then HSPA+ for anything over is fine by me. I must point out that non of the APN bypass things work for me at all anymore, so if after 5GB I'm on HSPA+, well, HSPA+ is still plenty fast for me.
If it's the former, however, then I'll still be just as disappointed. Actually pissed and outraged. Going from 2GB to 5GB to start throttling really is not much of an improvement to me, since if I wanted to, at these insane LTE speeds they are giving me in San Francisco (maxed out around 50Mbs down), I could download 5GB in about 15 minutes on LTE speeds. So hypothetically once my billing cycle reset, if after 15 minutes of heavy LTE usage I was then throttled to EDGE speeds for the rest of the month, I'll be pissed.
So yeah, anyone know? Are they still going to throttle at EDGE speeds for the remainder of the month regardless of peak times/congested towers/etc? If so, then this new 5GB LTE cap is still complete and utter bull****, just like 2GB was. But if it's NOT EDGE speeds, and not necessarily all the time until the next billing cycle, then it's welcomed.

It is based on you data plan regardless of you are getting LTE is the way I read it. You might travel to an LTE area. If you have a LTE data plan it will be 5GB.
Straight from the web site.
Looks like you will remain throttled for the remainder of the billing cycle.
I understand the throttle speeds are supposed to be more usable and not the 56k modem speed crap they've been doing.
If you have a smartphone that works on our 3G or 4G network and still have an unlimited data plan,
You'll receive a text message when your usage approaches 3GB in one billing cycle.
Each time you use 3GB or more in a billing cycle, your data speeds will be reduced for the rest of that billing cycle and then go back to normal.
The next time you exceed that usage level, your speeds will be reduced without another text message reminder.
If you have a 4G LTE smartphone and still have an unlimited data plan, the same process applies at 5GB of data usage, instead of 3GB.
You'll still be able to use as much data as you want. That won't change. Only your data throughput speed will change if you use 3GB or more in one billing cycle on a 3G or 4G smartphone or 5GB or more on a 4G LTE smartphone.

Well the fact that that iPhone user sued over not getting true unlimited and won probably influenced them a bit, not to mention I'm sure they were tired of getting reports from their CSRs of angry customers calling in to ***** about using 2.1 GB and being throttled and threatening to cancel unless they got some perk in response.
I also can live with 5GB. The only time I used excessive data was when I had to stream my SiriusXM all day at work. Now that I figured out how to get a signal with my regular radio I can safely stay below or around 2GB. The fact that I get up to 5GB because I have an LTE phone (although no LTE coverage, boo) and I'm paying $30 instead of $50 AND I just get slow speeds as opposed to $10 charge for going over has me satisfied.
im happy with 5GB.. its not "unlimited" but i think its manageable

Some people don't know. The device wasn't designed to be exclusively to that carrier, so issues may be caused even though it does support the band. Had an issue like that with an international lg g4 on a carrier where it didn't pick up the signal very well even though it supported the frequency, and in some situations was faster than my op3t at the time with network speed in well covered areas.
