Does " Keep the lights on" app work on infuse? It doesn;t seem to work for me. The bottom button lights do go off even if the screen is lit...
Nope it's a no go right now. It will work spontaneously.

they do it for the purpose of watching media i guess.
When I used this app it was really buggy for me too. A fix for this would be cool. Maybe start a ruquest thread. I'm sure it's something that could be worked threw by one of our amazing revs.

Hello I have had my NS4G for a month and through all the fun and excitement of unlocking and rooting it I noticed that when I get any type of notification that my LED lights don't come on at all. I actually don't think they ever did. Am I trippin or is it supposed to be that way lol.

There is no notification LED on this phone... so to answer you, its perfectly normal
Ty now I can stop thinking I was crazy.

Try a kernel with bln support as a workaround
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036991
With BLN app from market.
Noled is another alternative. If you're interested in trying that (no special kernel required) I can give you the settings I found that work well. It took some trial and error to get them the way I like them.

Noled isn't that great of an app. For some reason when there is a notification, the soft touch buttons at the bottom of the phone stay lighted.
Also, the screen isn't pure black when the notifications come on. It has this greyish hue to it. Totally not liking the app.

Does anyone know of an app or a setting to control the touch button lights at the bottom of the screen?
i tried searching for a solution but found none.
I like reading off of the kindle app at night and with 22% brightness and white text on a black background, the result is a perfect experience -- except for the four blinding leds every time I turn the page...
This might also be helpful for those with issues during streaming video (i.e. Netflix).
I apologize in advance if this has been dealt with/is in the wrong place.

That is a very good question and I have the same problem while reading on my phone. I'm going to try and do some research to see if I can come up with a solution.
Try this. I don't know if it works or not yet

lol!! thats great.
Bump for a good question
the light buttons are bright as fkc at night. +1 good question.. probably saves battery too if someone can dev this app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=neldar.bln.control.free
Install BLN control and check Activate Notifications. The lights will only stay on for a few seconds after you touch the screen/buttons.
Thanks for trying guys. I want to completely disable those bad boys. I know where they are. Don't need a searchlight!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Well you can't disable them. Not even the stock roms let you do that, the best bet is for them to only blink, which is they turn on when you're using them.
Some black tape works lol

Would the touchscreen still work with black/electrical tape? That makes me wonder, but I am lazy and have none on hand to test out.

If your using the app, yes the service MUST run. If its built into the kernel\ROM like CM7, then you dont even need the app
You shouldn't be running a task killer anyway. Android manages its services by itself killing system apps on a regular basis can make apps that need to be running in the back ground start again wasting battery. Plus your phone will act strange after awhile. You shouldn't use them.
Again this belongs in Q&A

Too bad I didn't read this thread earlier, I figured this out on my own today, doing the same thing, I changed my brightness to 1 (the lowest it would stay lit) , I do think this would definitely help out on battery life.

The Touch Key Lights app DOES NOT works properly with
1) Cyan 7 mod
I am using stock Android now, it works like a charm
One touch, and the program changes the value FOREVER (even after reboots, after I re-insert the battery...)
I am having few things i noticed with my phone don't know if anyone else is having it-
Back button doesn't work in any setting or app. For example if I go to phone settings disable Bluetooth back key is not lit, have to click on home and start over.
GPS takes forever to lock .
Phone doesn't have a led for missed calls, is there a app which can do bln.
phone is running stock rom (2.3.7) and its not rooted

Check out noled. It works pretty well.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
The back button should work. I'd say there is something wrong there. For the other things like bln you'll need to install a kernel which supports it. That requires that you root your phone.
No back button doesn't work its not lit.

Yes I realize that. I'm not saying I don't belive you I'm just stating that it should work and if it doesn't then there is something wrong with ether the hardware or software on your phone. Best bet would be to root it and flash a ROM from scratch.
I know my phone. We are very intimate. I know just where to touch her. I don't need the keys blinding me. Can I disable them, permanently? I never want to see these light up again!

If you really want to disable them permanently, it's a one-line change in the kernel. You basically don't tell it where the light switch is .
Which ROM are you using?

Code:
gpio_direction_output(_3_GPIO_TOUCH_EN, onoff);
Well damn, looks like that might not only have turned off the backlight, but also the ability to use the button. Black electrician's tape is probably an easier solution if that was your goal.
Somehow I think you still want to be able to use the buttons though.
Isn't there another line of code that tells how bright the keys can be? Is it possible to set that at 0?

I'm not trying to hinder development, but in my opinion I would rather them spend their time on stuff that is less cosmetic... that stuff can come later because there are more important issues they are working on. I'm sure it will one day get fixed...

Sometimes a little distraction is nice. Trust me, after you've been staring at VCO divider tables for a while, something simple like "Can you just turn off this light?" is a good way to improve productivity. I'm back in the tables again this morning, but this gives me something interesting and rewarding to do during the roughly hour and a half a full build takes.

Pfft!
no one here is asking the main devs for this fix anymore....its already been said several times they dont know....sooo maybe other people in here can try to figure out a fix.
So have a nice day.
Also its not just so "cosmetic" as you think.....the people that are on ics based roms would truely appreciate this fix due to the amount of battery life gained if those damn lights didnt stay on.
I would like to know which line this is as well. I dont need extra keys in beam. I want just the hard keys

I do agree that it would be nice. Think about it the only time the lights are on is if the screen is on, if the screen is on, chances are you are touching the screen unless you are watching a movie... there are a few roms out that don't have this problem like the beam port... Maybe compare roms and kernels? There is bound to be a solution. I hope you find your answer and sorry i wasn't trying to blast anyone.
Its all good....i watch alt of movies while sitting at the back gates waiting for the parks to empty out at Disney so i can go to work and the those lights are quite annoying in the dark watching movies lol
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! Theres an app called screen filter on the market that does the trick by turning off the softkeys umtil you actually click them details are on my capacitive buttons thread.
Its kinda old news...but it does work but its just more steps for getting what you want......when it could all be avoided
