Even as a newbie I was able to unlock my inspire using [TOOL] HTC Inspire/DHD Hack Kit V12.3 (UPDATED ON 08-11-2011) THANKS, THANKS, THANKS. I found the hack in a developers' forum and I am unable to post there. And, yes, I did read the effen-manual but I still have a few questions-
1- how do I know for sure that my phone is rooted and unlocked.
2- what radio should I install
3- what ROM should I flash
Just getting to this point has been challenge for me but I want to complete the task in the best way possible.
Thanks for any pointers.
1. If superuser is installed and running
2. Theirs all type so it may differ for others. I'm currently on att gingerbread one
3. Try them all. That's the best comment theirs only your opinion.

Good choice. If you're tired of sense I recommend AOSP

Hi newbie-2,
I have the same question about the radio. Which radio did you end up flashing?
What steps did you use, and did you flash the RIL as well?
Sorry for all the questions. I read quite a bit in the HTC Inspire 4G Radio Flashing forum post in the Development forum, but I'm afraid it left me a bit confused...

Hi all, I am new to Android and HTC phones, in advance I know that my question can not have any sense. Today i have rooted my Z 1.82 with method described in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261
After it I have rooted 1.34 and i have also two questions:
1) is it possible now to upgrade to 1.82 and keep root,s-off,supercid? Or which Rom you advice and where i could some interesting ones?
2) referring to method i have used to root what method you suggest to undo all? Can i get somwhere a ROM for unbranded 1.82? My CID was HTC_032 if it is useful info for you.
Thanks

Hi,
If you get a custom ROM which uses the 1.82 base you will be able to keep root, SuperCID and S-OFF. The ROM that I am using (link in my sig) is Virtuous ROM which is based off the 1.85 release. Really great if you want the latest build with Sense.
You can use the same method (i believe) to Unroot, SIM-Lock and S-On.
Regards.
Ok ,thanks. Actually now I am using virtuous 1.0.1 as you, but my problem is that I didn't make any backup for my stock one before rooting. Now I would like to now how to back to the status from before rooting. My telcom provider is Era so I need stock Rom branded by Era :/

I think yes I ve used it to downgrade from 1.82 to 1.34 to get permroot. It is pretty well described in one of the sticked guides, and actually in my first post you can find the link.

This is the "Accessories" subforum.
As already mentioned, if you want a more recent Sense build, flash Virtuous. Its based on 1.85, and has some added features, but really not that modified. Much easier than messing with the newer official ROMs (which are not presently rootable).

To root 1.82 you must downgrade.
Safest and best way is the goldcard way
I had 1.82 unrooted desire Z
i used the goldcard way.
this link brings you to the topic.
Once you reach the third part.
you have to do following first
Start command promt.
Browse the command to you ADB folder
enter: ADB Shell Chmod 777 /data
Now you are able to pull the misc file from you phone.
This is normally only available at rooted.
now i run Cyanogenmod v7 =)
Kind regards
Resurrecting a 2-month old thread, posted in the completely wrong subforum, was probably a bit pointless.
Just saying.
ill be rooting my friends inspire tonight, he currently has the latest 2.3.3 ota installed. in your opinion what is the best, stockish but stable type rom for him to run as he is a android beginner. i don't need all the overclocking, bells and whistles. is there any roms with sense 3.0 with the 3.0 lockscreen?
also what kernel/radio is recommended?
Virtuous seems to have the best reviews in rom manager. I tried rooting with 2.3.3 installed. It was a PITA!!! Do yourself a favor and use the method I posted to downgrade first, then root and flash a good rom!!!

Sense you have been around for awhile you know that best ROM threads don't last long. Best bet is to try a few on said device and then choose the best for that device/person.

Search button? but i will spoonfeed you:
1. Need to be S-off
2. Root
3. Kernel which can be overclocked
4. SetCpu / Daemon Controller / System Tuner and alike...
You want to be @ stock?
1. Check EddyOS's work for the ROM...
(ARHD and Insert Coin if you want a fully optimize with closer to stock feel...)

Hi everyone,
First of all i am selling my dhd due to an upgrade to One X hopefully i have been looking for a t mobile branded rom i looked at shipped-rom.net and have found it. I searched for t-mobile rom and it on a android forum a person had wrote this "I have a HTC Desire HD on T-Mobile Uk 2.3.3 software 2.37.110.5 CL58702". On a XDA i also found this "This is gingerbread info for the T-Mobile UK Android Ver - 2.3.3
HTC Sence - 2.1
Baseband 12.54.60.25u_26.09.04.11_m2* Kerel ver - 2.6.35.10.g3bf3222* Build no - 2.37.110.5 cl58702 Software no -* 2.37.110.5*
This helped me narrow my search with which rom to choose on shipped roms.net because there where alot of stock roms for dhd(ace).
Now i need to know what to do next i dont mind losing any info on my phone as i am going to be using mybackup pro. But the question is now i have found the stock rom what next? i rooted the device through ace hack kit and i am now using rcmix3d so what do i do next to flash the rom and when i do flash the rom will everything be original or will i still have to also change the kernal and radio as they are too both not of stock. When i do go back to stock i want everything to be the same but i want the phone to be unlocked to all networks and OTA after i get stock back will i have to use goldcard then go onto ace hack kit and instead of rooting just to tick the unlock button and on that same application when you root you have s-off when returining to stock how should i have s-on. When going back to stock shall i put s-on when should i do it ? an easy guide or tutorial would help

This is btw the wrong section for this kind of questions, and also be answered in other threads!
You need to flash the stock rom, just as you flash other ones.
S-on do you have to do with another program, not with hack ace kit, because that one installs a rom from himself, and after that s-on.
Ultimate Multi Tool is suitable to set s-on.
Kernel and radio are in rom, so only thing you have to do is flash stock rom, and then S-on and if you had eng off also that S eng-on.
Do i flash the stock rom then eng-on and s-on or the other way round.

You could try running ruu from website but it will lock your bootloader. Or you could just flash one from the inspire dev thread. There are a few different ones with this base.

They also have a link to download it on the AT&T Inspire support forum. It may break the root on your phone though and there are problems with the update on rooted phones in other posts on XDA. I would just look at another ROM that has whatever improvements you want. I updated my stock Inspire and I am not overwhelmed with the upgrade. I will be looking at rooting and a different ROM for mine this weekend. I can not post the AT&T link, not enough posts yet, but as I said, I would not advise you to upgrade the result is marginal at best and has slowed my Inspire and reduced the call volume.

Thanks to ALL!
I have updated by manual method even before I read your post and took a chance. Rightly said by you It has marginal improvement. More over my RAM is almost full. Speed got reduced. Even though these are my first impressions I hope they may subside in future.
Can you guide me how to release my RAM memory. Most of times it is 500 full and 100 free. If problem persists can we roll back to our previous version of HTC sense. If it is possible please let me know.
