[Q] Can I remove the 'ring unlock' procedure? - HTC Sensation

Is there any way I can bypass the 'rung unlock' procedure on my Sensation? Once I've unlocked by pulling up the ring, I then use the pattern unlock (to safeguard my phone) - so I almost feel as though I'm unlocking twice!
Also, after the phone goes to sleep after timing out, is there an alternative to pressing the power button at the top to awaken it? My power button is stiff under my gel phone case, so it's sometimes difficult to wake the phone up again. Something on the screen would be ideal.
Thanks in advance guys.

All this features are available on CM rom, hopefully it won't take long before we see functional build, it's impossible on sense rom to use this advanced things...

As a new Sensation user, I would also like to see the ring removed. It'd be better if I didn't have a PIN security screen, but I do, which means it takes longer to get into the phone.

You can install an application named Battery Indicator which has an option named disable lock screen.
Very basic, but it works.

Thanks for the help - I haven't (and would rather not) try a pirated version.
I tried a few free apps yesterday that said they'd do the same thing, however they removed not only the ring screen but also my PIN lock screen. Does the app you suggest only remove the ring screen? If so, I'll buy it.

I'm not sure if I get your point, but you may try the pirated edition, and if you like it, uninstall it and buy it
You won't loose anything doing so
But I think it removes the PIN screen too :/

Hi All,
Which apps do you guys use for screenshots on the Sensation? Are they PC based like all the ones I've found (that don't require rooting)?
Use the android SDK
I know in the sensation and pyramid leaks that we use if you press home and power at the same time it takes one...

Hello,
I'm using MyPhoneExplorer for taking screenshots (doesn't require rooting).
Link to app for PC (Windows):
http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php
Link to client (install on phone):
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fjsoft.myphoneexplorer.client&feature=search_result
Works great via USB, didn't try over Bluetooth or WiFi (don't need right now).
To connect Android Phone, after install on Your PC, in Options, select "Device with Google Android OS" instead of "Sony Ericsson Phone with modem interface".
To take screenshot, go to "Additional" and select "Upload screenshot". Small window will appear, where You can see what Your phone actually displays, click on "Save as..." and You're done!
This app is powerfull to sync all data with Outlook, send SMS from Your PC, install *.apk applications from Your PC, make backups and stuff...
MPE works great over Wifi, though you can only take screenshots while over USB. Beats HTC Sync since that kept duplicating my contacts.

I'm guessing that'd be the "hold power & press home" screenshot feature? the HTC support page for the Sensation actually had an FAQ on how to do screenshots for a few days & then was taken down.

Ha look at that. I guess they forgot to not post that. They also left in the documentation about voice dial even tho tmobile took it out. It's a shame they disabled the screenshot ability. if you read above, someone found that htc commented out the function in some file.

Actually it does work.... U don't need an app. The sensation has the screenshot function built in the phone. Just hold down the power button THEN hit the home key. That should take your screenshot and saved in your camera shots folder. I just took a screenshot of my phone 10mins ago. Hope this helps.

I used that app before...but it took choppy screen shots with lines going across them...and whenever I restarted my phone it reverted all the settings..I had to reconnect to the comp and redo everything...although the built in screenshot on the sensation does not have the option as the apps do...but it'll do the trick and its free lol. Can't beat that.
It does leave lines on the home screen but everywhere else, texts, apps, etc it works fine for me. If you reboot you do have to use the pc to re-enable it.

my question about his method: do you need to do more than just fre3vo? I tried it that way & drocap2 doesn't work still. I've noticed that some of the auto-redo methods some people have made has the batch script installing other apps called Superuser, sqlite2, & busybox. What are those & are they needed for drocap2 to work?

drocap2 does that on the first screenshot each time you launch the program (every time it's granted su permissions). Second screenshot should be perfectly fine. Just long press the home button to access drocap2 easily.

Two threads or so above this one has the same issue. They seem to think it's a sense issue being the sense widgets being animated.

Thanks for suggesting the "long press" solution.
The way I had done it was using drocap2 via notification trigger.
I did have to disable SU notification setting else the "toast" or "notification bar" gets into the screen shot.
I used shake trigger for the lock screen captures since notification bar trigger won't work for that screen.
Drocap2 is getting these images whenever I take screenshots after the second and third. No changes I am still getting the lines.
I currently have use the notification bar to "take" the pic in 5 seconds. Is there something I am missing??
Are those lines on your screen when you transition from 1 screen to another? Like, does it flicker?
I have the flicker issue sometimes and either a "Force Stop" HTC Sense or use Fast Reboot app to make Sense reload.
Try drocap2 on it after that.
No it doesn't flicker or anything. And no I am not transitioning from another screen. I just tried the fast boot app and it worked slightly on the first pic but then the lines come back in the second.
Maybe it's a lwp issue? I am going to try to get a static lwp to test.
Confirmed-LWP (for me) causes lines
LWP when doing a screenshot will cause lines. I tried a different lwp and a static one.
The htc sense lwp
Static wallpaper-No lines.
Yeah, I'm getting those lines using lwp too.
Galaxy LWP doesn't show lines.

Reset sensation without pulling battery!

Hi all,
If you need to reset your sensation just hold vol+, vol- and power together and keep them held until the phone reboots - usually a couple of seconds.
Much easier than pulling the back off and removing the battery.

This doesnt always work, but will most of the time. Last night I had to pull the battery since this method wasnt working. Its worth a try before doing a battery pull though.

Another method is to just use ADB commands to reboot or reboot into recovery. IE: adb reboot or adb reboot recovery.
I had to do this when recovery stops responding.
Ummm... By the time you have counted to 5 and hoping the phone resets, you could have clicked back off, pulled batt and clicked cover back on.
If you are quick
Just tried it - works pretty well. Thanks for the tip.
If you look in this section, there are people losing their volume rockers or disturbing the connections between battery cover and body by repeatedly removing and refitting the battery cover.
This way, there's no risk to the phone.
Plus, you can reset the phone easily if it's inside a case.
You're welcome to keep pulling the back off though if it makes you happy.

Oh yeah, and removing it is really "fast" and "convenient" if you use a gel case.

Wow take a chill pill mate! Only having a joke!
Yes I do have a Sensation. It has a lovely screen protector on it, it is rooted / running ARHD and it has one of them clicky leather pouches that you get for £2.50 off Donington Market. More to the point, I have been repairing Steve Jobs equipment for erm... Years now!
Low post count doesn`t imply that the person is a muppet! Indeed, you could learn a thing or two my friend in Bucharest...
Some phones are not designed to be hard resetted in the way the OP describes, but yes it is an excellent tip.
My post doesn't mention any other phones and is only posted in this section, so I'm only talking about the Sensation. I haven't tried this on any other device so I can't say if it works on any other phone.
All I said is it's an easier way of performing a hard reset on a HTC Sensation or HTC Sensation XE without removing any parts.
I'm no expert, I'm just sharing a tip I found. Use it, don't use it, it's absolutely fine by me whatever anyone chooses to do.

[Q] HTC Sense Input

I recently noticed the arrow keys reappearing on the portrait keyboard even though I have them turned off in options (settings>language&keyboard>htc sense input>arrow keys "OFF"). I have cleared htc sense input data and this takes care of the resetting issue until I play any kind of full screen video. This included youtube in full screen, angry birds, vevo, etc. I thought that it might be an app so I put my phone into safe mode...but the same issue occurs. I even went as far as doing a full reset, but still the issue continues. I really could care less about the arrow keys, I just want to make sure at this point that it is just some kind of software issue that may be resolved with a future update, and not a hardware issue with my phone in particular. My phone is completely stock and fully updated. HTC hasn't emailed back yet, so I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? btw, this may be a well know issue, but I have only had the phone for a couple of weeks so any help would be much appreciated.

i have this same issue. they come back even when i turn them off. the only way to get rid of them again is to make sure the keyboard shows up then turn the phone into landscape mode then back to portrait mode, then the arrows are gone. its a glitch in the software or something.
