Hi all,
If you need to reset your sensation just hold vol+, vol- and power together and keep them held until the phone reboots - usually a couple of seconds.
Much easier than pulling the back off and removing the battery.
Mod - please add to the stickies.

Indeed working fine, tested and restarted the phone about 5s after i pressed the buttons.
This doesnt always work, but will most of the time. Last night I had to pull the battery since this method wasnt working. Its worth a try before doing a battery pull though.

Another method is to just use ADB commands to reboot or reboot into recovery. IE: adb reboot or adb reboot recovery.
I had to do this when recovery stops responding.
Ummm... By the time you have counted to 5 and hoping the phone resets, you could have clicked back off, pulled batt and clicked cover back on.
If you are quick
Just tried it - works pretty well. Thanks for the tip.
If you look in this section, there are people losing their volume rockers or disturbing the connections between battery cover and body by repeatedly removing and refitting the battery cover.
This way, there's no risk to the phone.
Plus, you can reset the phone easily if it's inside a case.
You're welcome to keep pulling the back off though if it makes you happy.

Do you have a Sensation? Did you see how the cover looks? Don't you think that removing it frequently will cause damage?
Oh yeah, and removing it is really "fast" and "convenient" if you use a gel case.

Wow take a chill pill mate! Only having a joke!
Yes I do have a Sensation. It has a lovely screen protector on it, it is rooted / running ARHD and it has one of them clicky leather pouches that you get for £2.50 off Donington Market. More to the point, I have been repairing Steve Jobs equipment for erm... Years now!
Low post count doesn`t imply that the person is a muppet! Indeed, you could learn a thing or two my friend in Bucharest...
Some phones are not designed to be hard resetted in the way the OP describes, but yes it is an excellent tip.
My post doesn't mention any other phones and is only posted in this section, so I'm only talking about the Sensation. I haven't tried this on any other device so I can't say if it works on any other phone.
All I said is it's an easier way of performing a hard reset on a HTC Sensation or HTC Sensation XE without removing any parts.
I'm no expert, I'm just sharing a tip I found. Use it, don't use it, it's absolutely fine by me whatever anyone chooses to do.
Chill, people.

My phone has done this once or twice before but my solution to this was draggin the green "answer" button to the circle. It stops the ringing and whoever is calling ends up on the phone and you can hear them.
Not too difficult. I mean HTC should have fixed this issue before they even released the phone
Lmao. My phone is also defective. When I press the button with a house on it, it closes the app. Soooooooo annoying.

Lighten up.. In a perfect world everything would be perfect, but we dont live in a perfect world. If you look at EVERY single device there will always be issues with some units. I happen to not have any major issues with my sensation. My wifi drops a little when I hold it landscape but it's not horrible and oesnt drop the connection. any other issue I have are all software related glitches. If you look at every forum people complain about issues on every device. I was just making light of it because people seem to have major OCD. If you didnt think the thread was funny you shouldnt have even bothered reading it or replying. NOTHING is perfect in this world yet we expect everything to be perfect. Apparently, HOME button is supposed to teleport you back home, but gets confused because it doesn't know where you live and take you to HOMESCREEN instead (dumb thing, with all the gps and location services it should know where i charge it and sleep). Rumours are that this is going to be fixed with update in August. If it's not, there is always a DEV for that.
EDIT. I think we should start a petition for that, HTC seems to do anything we want if we put enough pressure on them, so they might push this bugfix sooner.
I returned mine and went back to my rooted and ROM'd vibrant and I don't regret it....BUT I'm considering waiting maybe another month or until we get full root and S-OFF to maybe give the sensation another chance. I wanted to like the phone, I really did, but didn't feel that the sensation in it's current stock state was really what I wanted. Either way...it's a GREAT multimedia phone and web surfer, kinda crappy at being an actual phone tho in my opinion...

Please explain, I've had zero issues as far as the device functioning as a phone.
On a side not, it's really driving me nuts that when press the "loose" button at the top my stupid phone keeps showing me the current weather with all these highly functional shortcut options on how to unlock. Anyone know how to change that? I want it to be stupid and work like an iphone!

Replace the battery cover, which is the entire back. It might be that the "button" isn't making contact properly.
Remove the entire back cover, and where the "button" should be, press down on it with your finger.
Do a battery pull and then try it.
I don't think it's anything to do with the phone, it was doing the same thing on mine. I had to pull the battery numerous times a day.
Until I flashed a rom with a stock kernel, and now it's fine again!

First off, what chris is trying to say is, that when in Recovery menu, you can use the capacitive buttons infront of the phone to move down and up and also select items in recovery menu. The search button can be used to select items that you would select with the power button.
Ugh..nightmares of the problems I had with my n1's

Also as an addition if the device hangs see if you can restart it with "adb reboot bootloader/recovery" its the best approach

It's not bricked.. It sucked the internal power for now from the phone and went to deep sleep state.. Happens when you do too much of wire tricks fails..
The solution is remove battety, sim and sdcard... Then charge the phone overnight or at least 6-7 hours.. That will bring back phone to life

I've tried many many things, I booted into 4ext recovery, the screen was acting the same, just like someone is touching the screen randomly, last night I've formatted everything and installed a stock rom using an RUU.... I'm wondering if there's some humidity between the gorilla glass and the LCD screen... I've put the phone face down to my PC's cooler fan during the whole night... nothing changed.. now the screen is under the sun.. maybe that could solve this stupid issue...
If you think there is some humidity in the phone. best to dry is to use normal dry cooking rice.
Take a big plastik box, put the rice in. lay the phone on the rice and close the box. leave it at least 12 hours.
The rice will get all water out.
If you like you can warm the rice before you put the phone on by 15 sec. in the microwave, so just to get the rice a bit warm about 40°C
For safe Mode of the sensation look here:
