[Q] Droid 2 Global stuck on bootloader - General Questions and Answers

i have a rooted droid 2 global and when i tried to flash the 2.3 gingerbread it rebooted and came back to the bootloader and now thats what im stuck on, please help?!

I feel so bad for you, because I did the same freakin thing. I tried to figure things out forever, but luckily, I believe I can help you. What you need to do is, if you have not already, get the motor drivers for your phone. Google moto helper. After that Google the program rsd lite 4.9 and download it. Open it up and plug your phone in, and make sure rsd lite recognizes your phone. If not then you need to redownload the drivers. Next go on line and look up Droid 2 global sbf file. You should end up at team black hats website. The file you download should be called droid2we_x6_2.4.29.full.sbf. open up my computer, click on the c drive, click on program files, click on Motorola, right click on rsd lite and run as administrator.put your sbf file on the desktop. On rsd lite click on the elipse, and find the sbf file. Click start, and hopefully rsd lite will begin flashing your phone. Once it reaches 100%your phone should reboot and start up. If not, and this is once rsd lite is 100% done, pull the battery and wait 5 seconds. Hold in the power button and the x button. You should eventually see an android with an exclamation mark. Press the spy glass button and a menu should come up go down to ease data/factory reset with the volume buttons and enter with the camera button. Then wipe cache and reboot. With luck your phone should work again

Did this get resolved? I have the same issue. It just won't work with any SBF.

Mine is doing the same now.

Bricked/Stuck at boot animation after attempting to make status bar black...

Last night I tried skinning my status bar to black using this method. It was late, I was tired, and did not see that you need to be de-odexed to apply this theme. Needless to say, I'm now screwed. It won't boot past the DROID screen. So... what do I do? I tried booting without the SD card but haven't tried anything else. Do/could I just do the power+home key and clear the cache? Is there any easy fix to this where I can salvage anything from the phone? I'm guessing I need to use the SBF, but I've never done that before so I'm looking for that guide. I'm running the official 2.2 OTA and I had rooted it. Could anybody please point me in the right direction?
I did the same thing the other day. Here is how I fixed it.
-Download RSD Lite (credit to MyDroidWorld)
-Install the RSDLite 4.8 program by double clicking on the program.
-Download SBF into a folder.
-Open RSD Lite and find the UNZIPPED SBF
-Put your Motorola Droid X into bootloader. (turn phone off and hold volume down
and the camera button while pressing the power button)
-Click start and sit back.
PS. You need to run RSDLITE as Administrator.
Note: after the flash will need to boot into recovery (hold volume down and the home button) and wipe data and cache.
Link for SBF http://www.multiupload.com/NCBVTV0AU5
I ran into an issues after I did this, it would try to activate though US Cellular. That isnt uncommon. just be sure to restore to thought the phone after you SBF and the go to your keyboard and hit *22807 then ## that should force it verzion. If you have any questions let me know
Thanks for your help. Yeah you probably would've had to update the PRL file as that's just a generic 2.2 OS install. Quick question - would it be a problem if I already wiped the cache and data/factory reset it? I just tried that and it didn't help any. Mostly just a black screen now with the occasional flash to the DROID logo. Am I still good to use the SBF?
Also... did you ever get this resolved? I Googled *22807 because I'd never heard of it before and this is what came up. Does flashing to this SBF always mess up your MEID?
I would assume that you would be ok SBFing it. My friend works for Verizion and that is what she gave me to do.

Hi opiswahn, you can try to flash rsd lite to reformat your back to stock. First download rsd lite and sbf files of your preference (I am using singapore sbf). Then open your phone while holding power button, sound up, media together. You will go into bootloader mode (black screen). Now flash rsd lite from your cpu and your phone should be alright. Hope it helps you.
thx for the reply, but RSDFlash won't let me flash... see picture
Maybe another version of RSD lite and/or try to run it in XP compatibilty mode.
I had the same situation like you in the screenshot when I installed an sbf using Windows 7 on the neighbour's PC.
But I can't remember clearly what was the key to get it working as it was in february.
Since then no more sbf ...
Milestone XT720 - CM6.3.0 RC3
WinXP did the trick, tried before running as admin or in compatiblity-mode, but nothing worked, so i tried a WinXP VMWare, and boom, it works!
*Edit*
Aw, damnit, every time rsd tries to write to the phone the VM crashes...

Try this
Go on control panel , click on system , click on andvanced system settings then on advanced tab click settings under performance then the advanced tab and click change under virtual memory, then custom size and choose it the size u want it to be ,but bare in mind not to low and not to high , keep it under 3000MB
Also I found that OR sometimes gets corrupt. Most of the time if you just re-unzip the recovery and replace all the items in the Openrecovery folder (except the Updates b/c you'll lose whatever is in there when you overwrite it) on your PC and then xfr over to SD cardyou then you can enter recovery like normal. That usually does the trick. In fact that happened to my wife's phone last night and I fixed it up just like that.
I always hate flashing sbf when I can just restore a nandroid. Not sure if it will work since you started the sbf already.
I had the same issue with RSD Lite 4.6. I found a 5.0 with no problem. But now I saw yours! How ironic.
enter moto's recovery, do "factory reset"
You need to enter bootloader mode, not the fastboot bootloader.

Stuck in boot loop after upgrading to Bravo 2.2 v1.6 by brianlee+updates0926_bravo1.6
Help! My phone is experiencing the same thing... stuck in boot loop. The operator's logo (Singapore Starhub) keep appearing again... again... and again.
I upgraded it the from dexter's rom to Bravo 2.2 v1.6 by brianlee. I've followed all instructions below but after I install the update, my phone stuck in boot loop.
Instructions
Download 1.6 from one of the links above.
Download the Update from above.
Extract the contents of the 1.6 download.
Copy the contents of the sdcard folder to the root of your sd card. (You can skip the OpenRecovery files and just copy the nandroid folder if you already have OR).
Copy the update ZIP file into /sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates
Reboot into OpenRecovery
Nandroid > Restore > bravo2.2-brian
Apply Update > update-bravo1.6Mz-20110926-1328.zip
Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik, Factory Reset
My phone run perfectly well and after I apply this update (updates0926_bravo1.6.zip), I'm stuck in boot loop.
I've tried many ways to recover my phone, but none is successfull, including this thread. I've tried the camera button+power button and then volume up button. And this message appears on the screen: "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" with phone picture and exclamation mark on the background.
RSDlite 4.9 + sbf file can't detect my phone.
Can someone help me? Can I restore my phone?
---------- Post added at 02:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:00 PM ----------
Sorry, I can recover my phone. I tried to press power button+volume up button+media button all at once and the recovery mode appeared. I applied the proper update and voila... My phone is working again.

Jelly Bean & Factory Data Reset = Dead Phone

Device:
Droid Razr MAXX HD - Stock Factory Phone - Unrooted, nothing been touched. - VERIZON
What happened:
Updated to JB last week. Was a little too glitchy for my liking so I was going to factory data reset and clear the cache.
Problem 1: Failed Reset
Hit Factory Data Reset, phone starts up green android on screen with twirling blue stuff. Progress bar at bottom. Sits there for hours and nothing ever happens. Pulled SD card to see if that helped and tried again. Nothing.
Problem 2: Can't get into Recovery
I power the phone on and hold vol + & vol -, select recovery then get red moto logo then the same screen from problem 1. I hit Vol - then Vol + to try to get into recovery and it doesn't work. It just says ge 0/0 Formatting /data... Again, nothing.
Problem 3: It's reset, but if you shut the phone off you get problem 1 again.
Power on with vol + & - and I select any other option the phone will boot up and will activate for the first time. Sometimes it will find the network, sometimes the network and battery symbol will have question marks. The problem is, when the phone shuts off or restarts you get problem 1 again. Then if I select any of the options with vol+ & - it resets the whole phone.
Any ideas on how I could fix this other than throwing it on the pavement? All this from a factory data reset on a stock unmolested phone.
Glad to see it's not just me then man. Same problem with my Razr HD. Mine was rooted, but stock apart from that. I had been worried that perhaps it was because I'd been too dumb to remove (or better yet, actually protect) bits and pieces like SuperUser and they were annoying it or something.
Get exactly the same problems as you, haven't yet been able to figure out what's wrong. Called Motorola, erm, no, I'm not able to send my phone in, I kinda need it!
Just a note though with the first part of your problem...

I'll bet you that if you watch really closely, just before the screen goes blank, you'll see the android laying down with the red exclamation above him. At least I do.
Have also experimented with all the boot options, and also tried redoing the reset from the settings menu. No dice.
I'm guessing that because you've got a Maxx, you'll have a totally different service provider too.

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately I don't have the android with the !. If I did, I would probably be able to get into recovery. Good luck!
Have you tried to fastboot the phone?
You might lose your data, but you've already tried a factory reset. Here's what to do:
1) Download the Motorola USB drivers from here - https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481
2) Download RSDLite 6.0 from here - https://hotfile.com/dl/174582400/60ad26d/RSDLite_6.0.rar.html
3) I take it you're on VZW, so download the Jelly Bean fastboot file from here - http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish/VZW_XT926_4.1.1_9.8.1Q_39_VQW_CFC.xml.zip
4) Boot the phone up in fastboot mode - Turn phone off completely, on power on hold VOL+ and VOL- and press power, that should load a menu. Select "AP Fastboot"
5) Plug the phone into the PC and it should detect in RSD Lite, load the file you downloaded and flash the phone
This shouldn't ruin your warranty status, but nothing is official. I've never done this with the newer Motorola HD phones (since I don't have one yet...) but I have done this many times on many different Motorola Devices like RAZR (OG) and Droid 4, and Droid 3, etc. I'm pretty sure it'll work fine for you.
If you have anymore troubles let me know.
Good luck!
This info should be in a sticky, or a FAQ or something, very useful.

That means we need the right drivers. Try downloading the other USB drivers from the Motorola site. Also what OS are you using?

Yes... I'm really not surprised. I have had major driver issues with Android devices on Windows 8.
When you plug in the phone through fastboot mode, can you take a screenshot of your device manager? Try to double click on the device and locate the Motorola fastboot device.

Smart man.... That was the first thing I did was look in device manager and it was a mess while the phone is in fastboot. Computer recognizes the phone fine while it's powered booted up and on. I can get RDLite to find it and try to start and force the file to the phone but the moment it goes into fastboot it fails every time. I got Verizon sending me another phone today.... I appreciate your help on this... I'd buy you a beer if I could! :highfive:

Motorola Razr HD LTE XT925 4.1.2 boot loop

I'm stumped with this issue of my Motorola Razr HD LTE XT925 Rogers version 4.1.2 being in a boot loop. It started when I did a factory reset to try and fix some camera issues that I was having it started up with the Motorola red M icon then went to proceed with the factory reset with the android icon with the spinning blue object then restarts and just does a loop I have tried some steps that I found that I will list but all are unsuccessful and I did try them several times. It is stock firmware but was rooted with one click rooting program can't remember the name I did nothing else to the firmware.
Power + volume down for 10 seconds (simulates a battery pull)
Stock recovery tried wiping data and cache and then rebooting
Tried to use the boot menu normal start up and factory options
I did however get it to boot to the Rogers logo screen once but it just froze and had to restart it
I am currently trying get ADB tool to installed and get it working to see my phone as well as RDS Lite 6.1.6 it wont show any info about the phone but when in fastboot mode RDS Lite see it as connected in fastboot but no info about the phone shows up in the top left box as it has shown before also tried Super ADB Tool it show nothing at all I will continue to try and get the tools working.
Any help in getting the phone to boot normally is greatly appreciated.
I was also wondering if any body knows a good way to completely wipe the razr XT925 and restore the stock firmware that would also help.
OK so I have ADB installed and working I think put my XT925 in fast boot mode then I put in code adb devices in to the windows command console but show nothing listed and my phone says it is in fastboot mode and usb is connected and windows sees it as well but not ADB. There is no errors ether I am so confused as to why ADB and RSD show no info about my phone? I will see if its any of my drivers that are missing.
I went ahead and tried to flash my phone with RSD lite 6.1.6 with no luck the boot loop is preventing it from proceeding with the flash is this just a lost cause and there is no fix for it. The only thing I can think of is that I have to unlock the boot loader is that even an option when I can't even get boot into android? Any one got any ideas?
I was messing a round with my phone and try to get it working with any of the tools and had turned of the phone to stop it from constantly showing the red M icon and the android icon with the blue spinning object over and over but still had the phone plugged in to the computer and was looking in device manger in windows and seen this QHUSB_DLOAD with no drivers for it and looked at the VID & PID ids (USB\VID_05C6&PID_9008
) and searched for drivers thinking that is what is missing for my phone as I have never see it before and it is Qualcomm modem flashing port I don't know what to do did really mess up my phone by just doing a factory restore?
Some help or clarification would help a lot now as it is a bit troubling that I am unable to fix the Motorola Razr XT925 and might be bricked just by doing a factory restore. :silly:
OK I am getting desperate here I will do anything to stop it from looping I have even tried house of motos way just the same thing still if I can stop it from looping I can get it to work but does anyone knows a way to wipe the phone completely or stop it from this infuriating loop???
Just as a side note I found that forcing it in to normal start up with the wall charger plugged in it will charge when done then it will show the rogers logo like its booting but does nothing.
I have searched the forms and google now for 2 days about any way to fix the boot loop but all just say to do things that I have tried many different ways many times and the tools don't work or will work like RDS but it is unable to continue do to the loop of it doing a factory restore then restarts.
If any body has any ideas at all or can at least point me in the right direction would be a life saver I will even jtag the phone if i have to, if even that's possible

If your phone is bootloader locked you can always take it back to the carrier, that's it if you have guarantee. I suggest you try a earlier version of RSD lite, 6.1.4 for example, and see how it goes.

OK, not able to take it to Rogers some issues with doing that but will try RSD lite 6.1.4 besides that no other ways?
I had the same issue yesterday. Received a phone call and my phone shut off and started looping on the red M logo, but no further. I did everything in my power to get RSD Lite and ADB to recognize my phone in fastboot mode. Nothing. Then, I moved the USB port to another port on my laptop, and viola, RSD Lite picked it up, but ADB never did. Using the stock firmware available for my 926, I was able to revert back to the latest version of JB for my phone. I did also have to run RSD Lite in *administrator mode* in order to get success. Hope any of these tips helps you out.
Also, even though I was successful in flashing, I was still in loop mode until... I had to wait for the battery to die and the phone to shut all the way off. Then after powering up, it came up. I tried the volume down + power key, but it would only reset the phone, it would not completely power it off like it needed. This is not something I have seen on any forum anywhere, so hopefully it helps.

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking along the same lines as that but trying it on a freshly installed windows plus on different computer and just have RSD lite 6.0 and my Motorola drivers for my phone installed. I was thinking that it was my current motherboard that has a Intel usb 3.0 controller on it and my old motherboard did not as I manually updated my phone from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 before on my old motherboard and had no issues and will fallow the instructions to the letter and will triple check as well. I will see how this goes and hope it works as its my last option to get it working.
OK so trying to reflash the phone from a different computer with a fresh install of windows buy did not work.
I was looking though the options in the android system recovery menu and two options stood out are:
apply update from external storage
and
apply update from ADB (wont work as ADB does not see the phone)
would doing an update with an SD card with the firmware on it work or is it for some other purpose?

I'm not sure, never flashed that way. If it isn't too much to ask, can you tell me the process you are following to flash the stock rom step by step?, to see if I can somehow help you out, it's really odd It doesn't work.

Thanks for the reply, The steps I take to flash my phone is to first put my phone in to fast boot mode then connect my phone to the back of my pc then start up RSD Lite and add the latest firmware for my XT925 in RSD then let it load the firmware and it restarts the phone. it starts up to the non animated red M icon then the android with the spinning blue object in its chest comes up but then shuts off and restarts and have left it for several hours until it died and had to recharge it up.If I can I will post a video of how I flash it and what the phone does.
also is it normal for RSD Lite not to show the imei number of the phone or any thing about it in the top left box (Device properties) when you click on the modal?, all I get is N/A in Device properties box.
Yes, that is completely normal, that only appears when the flash is succesful and you get past the "select language" screen, but seeing that you're stuck in the M logo means that you haven't got there yet, in the mean time it will still appear no imei and no info.

Here, try this: http://www.android.gs/unroot-droid-razr-hd-xt926-downgrade-stock-firmware/
The RSD process following the exact same instructions found there on a Windows with USB 2.0, and it is preferred you use RSD 6.1.4 (if you don't have it I can post it here if you want)
Your build to flash is found here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/
Search for the one the phone brought when it was just bought, it has to be from your carrier.
Btw: did the flashing gives you any errors at all or not? Also, do you have bootloader unlocked? Just some details I'm curious, but seeing your phone does finish the process and restarts means it probably doesn't get any errors, anyway I'm just curious.

thanks for the reply, I have just tried the the steps in the link you provided and I used RSD lite 6.1.4 and got the 4.0.4 Rogers firmware for my XT925 that it originally came with and waited an hour but just did the same thing, I don't get any errors when flashing although RSD displays to start the phone up manually and I have a locked boot loader (Device is LOCKED: Status Code: 0) I can how ever get it to go to the animated red M icon and then the rogers logo by selecting normal power up from the boot menu but doesn't boot in to android.

I was also wondering if any body knows a good way to completely wipe the razr XT925 and restore the stock firmware that would also help.

Ok, so I think I maybe doing something incorrectly so I will put all the steps I did to reflash my phone and will add some pics and a video if possible. It took me a few days to get another phone to use for vids and pics the phone I used to for video and pics Samsung Captivate, unbrickable ya can't kill it.
1. I have installed RSD Lite 6.1.4
2. Installed the latest Motorola drivers by down loading the Motorola Device Manager
3. Down loaded the firmware for my phone android 4.1.2 full file name ---> 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL-12.2_CANADA_VANQJBLTEFRCI_P004_CFC_fb.xml.zip
4. Put my phone in fast boot mode then connected my phone to my netbook on the side or on the back usb 2.0 port on the PC with the original Motorola usb phone cable tried both to be sure
5. Started up RSD Lite 6.1.4 and load the firmware and selected Decompress only
6. Checked RSD Lite to make sure my phone is connected and showing up and RSD Lite shows (Fastboot VQUISH_U S USB N/A Connected)
7. I then selected start button on RSD Lite and it flashed the firmware with out issues or errors
8. phone restarts fine from fastboot left it for 1:30 RSD displays to reboot the phone manually but the phone does not do anything else but reboot constantly left the phone doing that until it ran out of battery
Pic of XT925 in fastboot mode not connected
Pic of RSD with phone connected in fastboot mode ready to be flashed
Video of phone restarting after being flashed and looping (click the link below)

In the steps I don't see the XML file editing, did you deleted the getvar line in the XML file?

xt925 bricked - flashing stops at system step

Few weeks ago my phone started closing apps every now and then, sometimes even restarting itself when under "heavy" load like opening Snapchat filters with face recognition for example (maybe the processor is failing?).
The reboot sometimes took 5 minutes, sometimes more. One time it took the phone 1 hour to reboot.
A few days ago it rebooted itself and got stuck on the M logo for hours, I waited literally until battery drained.
Anyways, I tried to flash Android back on it on fastboot mode with RSD but it always stops at the system img step.
It says "PHONE returned FAIL" on RSD.
My Bootloader is Unlocked btw. Battery says OK. Status Code says 3. Fastboot reason says Sticky bit fastboot after the RSD restarts the phone.
I have tried with 3 different files and all stop at flashing system step. I had flashed 4.4 on it before. My phone is originally from Telcel (Mexico)

Did you ever solve this issue?? I've got pretty much the same issue here, except mine is bricked... Won't even turn on, but if I connect to my pc the led turns green and after a few minutes it turns on, straight to fastboot. Same fastboot reason and everything. When I try to flash with rsd, it stays at step 2, trying to flash the sbl1 file... Then it fails and says PHONE returned FAIL... Any info from anyone is greatly appreciated!!

Ahh darn... Well, hopefully someone else sees this thread and is able to help out... Thanks anyways!
Hello, Luisit0 if your battery went bad then it could do that. Did you try hitting the power button when device is plugged into the home charger of the wall outlet? If you get to the M logo when you do that then its just the battery. If It does not do that and nothing happens you need a fastboot cable so you can flash the stock firmware. the fastboot cable will allow you to go to fatsboot mode without a battery.

HI, thanks for the reply. The thing is, the phone won't even get to the M logo. It charges and everything, but it powers up and goes straight to fastboot... It even said battery low, and after a while plugged in, it said battery ok, so I guess it's charging right. But like I said, no matter what combination I use, even the volume up + power button, it only goes straight to fastboot... I've tried numerous times to flash the Brazil and PR latam firmwares, and even after deleting the getvar and the md5 lines, it still gives me an error on step 2 when attempting to flash the sbl1 file and says FAIL on rsd lite 6.1.4...

Great!! Thanks so much!! I'll try this as soon as I get home in a few minutes, and hit you up after. Thanks again!!
EDIT: Okay so just a little update... I installed the drivers and it seems those were exactly the ones I had already installed, then I installed rsd lite 6.2.4 which you provided... Who wouldve known it was all in the version lol I was using 6.1.5 and, apparently, all I needed was to update... 6.2.4 did the trick!! However, not exactly... The firmware did finally flash completely and successfully, however it still boots directly to fastboot. The difference is, I can now actually access the boot menu holding volume down + volume up + power buttons, though every option I select only makes the bootloader unlocked warning come up and freeze there until I manually turn the phone off holding down the power button. If I select Normal Powerup, after a few seconds the warning goes away, but it never boots up. The other difference is, that now on fastboot, the reason now says "Sticky bit factory_fastboot". I'm going to attempt and flash the same firmware again, or my claropr latam firmware, or pretty much any other latam firmware and see if one of them works. Thanks again so much for your help so far!!!!
EDIT 2: IT LIVES!!!!!! Lol using rsd lite v6.2.4 did the trick. Apparently all I needed was to use the latest version of rsd lite... Man, I honestly cant thank you enough, you saved me a few 3 digit bucks on a new phone!! Lol, thanks so much for all your help!!

Yeah, finally it's back to life and working again. Turns out all I needed was to use the 6.2.4 version. Thanks for the link! I would've never thought it was just that :highfive:
