[Q] for android - General Questions and Answers

Hi my name is Tim . I am new to here and to android . i have recently bought a evo 3d and put kwaak3 on it and ran it wonderfully , as well as other things such as snes roms . my question is if its possible to run q3 would it be possible to run one of my other favorite pc games from that generation , wolfenstein enemy territory . i figure it uses ( correct me if im wrong the id game engine quake engine whatever ) it could be run on the phones as a port as well unless the files are open source . if i knew how coding and all that hard wonderful stuff works i would try it myself .anyway it was just a thought i had ( i dont think the game was that popular anyway so its not am must ) . also on another note there is a wiimotecontrol app that wont work with my phone ( i have read the disclaimer but tried anyway why not ) is there any other app maybe even in the works that would allow my to connect my wii mote to my phone . i dont have a bt keyboard or mouse so playing snes sega roms is a lil hard . anyway any response is cool thank you . and ty for being cool with my newbness

Porting games

Is there a way to port the old dos-95-98 games to ppc, if theres any tutorials or out that would be great, because i dont mind porting alot of games to this language, after all ive heard good game conversions to 4-5 days
thanks
You would need the source code of the games you want to convert. Otherwise, you need an emulator for the OS/Game, or you need to rewrite the game by reverse engineering. 4-5 days would be optimistic for that.
V
thanks for the fast reply, I have a source code for a game I want yes
this game is homeworld - space strategy, its specs fit into the uni and I would resize textures and redo meshing on the models too
any thoughts
if i were you i'd contact some of all those people who
ported games like doom1-2 quake1-2 dukenuke'm heretic, hexen
personaly i think homeworld use soo much direct3d that
it's not likely that it will work software renderd
or even with the current 3d chips on pda's but who knows

Turn-based strategy (like Warlords)

Hi,
I know, that isn't only one thread about TBS but I can't ask again...
Why is for Android (maybe for other mobile OS too) so less TBS like Warlords (and Warlords 2)? Warlords is for mobile touch displays perfect and no one develop them.
I see only "Populus Romanus" on market that looks like Warlords (look like Warlords more than other TBS like Android games).
Why, why not... why... :'(
Battleloot Adventure?
turn based RPG though
ive never played warlords though
anyways, wrong section =.=
Thanks for tip.
Also if this thread in wrong section, please, transfer it wherever you need
The best turn based strategy games on my phone are not android apps at all. The goto tbs strategy games I have are all run in andosbox.
Master of Orion
Master of Orion 2
Heroes of Might and magic II (I know there is an android port of this, but the ai is messed up, and running the original in a dos emulator the AI works much better. It is just fairly hard to find the original (you wont find it on google, but there are search engines that will find the dos version).

[Q] Does anyone know how to make a emulator for android?

Hello to everyone, I just want to know if anyone knows how to make emulators for androids or can teach me how to because I want to try remake the nds (Nintendo ds) for android phones.
I got Xperia Play
Googling shows that there have been made some attempts at that topic. However it seems that they aren't usable (yet?). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGPoKyc2n_A
Or google "nds4droid"
Just wanna try.
I am aware of this, and this had made me more determined to try and make an nds emulator, also I know high end android phones meet the requirement to run an nds emulator to a better standard then nds4droid because I don't think they put enough work into it
Why do you think they didn't put enough work into it?
What I am wondering is why it has to be emulated when both (most) android devices and the nds use ARM cpus. If the code would run dircetly on the phone, without emulation, it should be much faster. But my knowledge is too limited on this topic to say that this is even possible. Another thread on this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11820180#post11820180
what I think
I think there are certain things you cant really modify that's why they cant do it directly and starting from scratch to make an nds emulator on an android will be too much work.

No android cant run these games and it wont be able to do this in a couple of years. Today's hardware is too weak to emulate games made for x86 CPU's. It is possible to port these games to android but it means completely rewriting these games so it will never happen.
At this point in time I know of two apps that may help you, so long as you have a gaming PC capable of running whatever it is you want to run:
Kainy
Splashtop Gamepad THD (Tegra 3 devices only)
I haven't used either of them, so I can't attest as to how well they work or their worth. Neither run the games directly on your device, but streaming is where some believe the mobile gaming industry is headed (including Nvidia with their recently announced Project Shield).

[Q] [unity 4] is there a way to run ARMv7 Apk on ARMv6 device OR emulator

Hello everyone,
I recently lost my phone and i cannot afford a new device at least before two weeks from now, so i borrowed a Galaxy Y Pro Duos from a friend , and i really need to have the ability of testing my game before sending it to the client (i work as a freelancer) i know that with unity i can simply build an Android apk and then just deploy it on real device, but to avoid bad surprises i must test the game before sending it,
I looked everywhere and all the solutions are about converting games built in unity 3.x, but i cannot do that either cause i am using the new 2D feature of unity 4.3 .
So if there a way to make the game compatible with an ARMv6 device OR some magical solution that make me able to test the game on emulators that would be a much more better!!
thank you very much and have a great day.
