[Kernel-OC/UV] Infusion-GB Now with 2 Cores! Choose your Bake today! - Samsung Infuse 4G

I'm back with Gingerbread Kernel goodness for all.
As always, I am not responsible for Borking for phone if you do. It's your brick, you made it.
Note: Only works with SAMSUNG roms, not AOSP based roms. In addition, if moving from 1.1 to core-A/B please remove boot settings in Voltage Control before flashing.
Includes:
Voodoo Sound 10
Voodoo Lagfix
Insecure boot (ro.secure=0)
cfq scheduler
Planned:
bfq and more schedulers
TinyRCU
Possible GPU-OC
and more to be determined... Tell me what you want!
Use CWM or Kernel Flasher by Neldar to flash your kernel, and as always if you need to UV, use Voltage Control from the Android Market, brought to you by Xan.
Update with GB-1.1
Interactivex governor
Tweaks with Ondemand
1400 and 1000 frequencies enabled.
Bootanimation support. (non-Hellraiser roms, rename to sanim.zip instead of bootanimation.zip)
Update with GB-CoreA/B
New Frequencies 16-12-8-4-2-1 (A) and 14-10-8-4-2-1 (B)
InteractiveX Gov Tweaks (now a load based gov, max when over a certain load, lower when under, sorta like Smartass for CPU load)
Implemented modified Entropy initramfs tweaks.
GB-CoreA/B2
FFC Fixed.
Updated for AT&T GB Leaks (J series)
For a workaround to wired and wireless tethering, use wired and wireless tethering workarounds for the time being, both have been working for me, and make sure with the wireless that you set it as an SGS/Galaxy S in the settings. This will work for the Hellraiser rom-patch. Make sure you choose the top one in both download areas linked above.
Thanks as always to everyone in the past who have worked on an SGS kernel/phone (Netarchy, Hardcore, Unhelpful ect)
Also to my fellow devs here in the Infuse forums and for their patience with my constant questions in the IRC channel..... (Entropy512, LinuxBozo ect...)

Just installed this kernel and HOLY CRAP! ITS SO FAST!!
With the regular gingerbread kernel, I had some lag but with this one there's barely any! Overclocked to 1600 and undervolted abit and everything is running silky smooth!

Very very impressive!
OC 1600Mhz on demand
2280 Quadrant and this phone can now play 1080p YouTube videos smoothly :|
So far it is stable.

i9020a overclocking

Has anyone been successfull? i have tried every OC kernel and as soon as i overclock it just reboots my phone to a freeze (only way out is to either pull the battery or adb reboot). That being said the UV kernel runs fine.
Not sure if it has to do with the I9020A series.
But overall, each NS phone can tolerate its own OC levels. Some phones can tolerate only up to 1.2 GHz, some may be able to achieve 1.4GHz (or beyond). And for some of the unfortunate, some aren't able to OC at all.
Thus this post. I hope my phone is'nt the issue. it would be nice to push a little bit more out of it if i needed it down the line.
I over clocked mine to 1.4 and it was fine, I leave it at 1.0 tho, this friggin thing is quick enough for now.
hmm how do you check your radio. I'm gonna try that as a last resort. And i can set mine as 1.4 but as soon as i run a resource heavy task (n64) my phone locks up and reboot freezes.

Not sure why a radio would affect your ability to OC but...
Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Baseband Version
the last 3 are what you want to look at "JK8/KB1/KB3"
List all the kernels you've tried. The best in my opinion is Netarchy's 1.3.0.3-CFS kernel using SetCPU
Try intervals of 1.2 GHz too. My phone can only go up to 1.2 GHz
Yeah actually i had tried all of the bfs kernels. I just succeeded in getting Netarchy's 1.3.0.3-CFS kernel. And i can run up to 1.4 . Maybe the brain fk scheduler does not play nice with 9020a's

i flashed the BFS first, and lost my boot animation. Then i switched to the CFS, and the boot animation still didnt appear.
Any ideas as to how i can get it back?
Also, is there anyway to recover the stock kernel? I'd like to have it handy to be able to go back to it.

Wipe dalvik and cache. Flash a rom that flashes stock. Like cm7 but netarchys is so much better than stock
You can also get ogdobbers which is stock + ext4 + voodoo.

you're better off asking that in the netarchy kernel thread in dev forums.
netarchy could answer that... not a lot of phones can tolerate 1.6 GHz Oc
Thanks, yeah i felt a little bad posting the question here. Though ive been an avid user for a long time i have never posted so i didnt have sufficient rites to post in the decelopment section yet : (

[Kernel]Defuse Kernel v1.4 - Voodoo Sound/Lagfix (Updated 06-20-2011)

Hi everyone, this kernel aims to be fast and stable and have good battery life. It should be what the infuse comes with.
Latest features:
- Compiled using codesourcery 2009 (will be updated to 2010 which brings optimizations and speed)
This kernel has/is:
- Works on all voodoo enabled roms
- Currently not included neldar's BackLightNotification 2.3
- Includes supercurio's Voodoo Sound v9
- Includes jhash3 function for performance and reliability
- Adjusted kernel HZ value to improve smoothness
- Properly working TinyRCU for better speed and efficiency
- Patched lowmemorykiller for compatibility with TinyRCU
- Modified Initramfs for performance
- BFQ is the default i/o scheduler (other i/o schedulers will be tested as time goes by)
If your keeping up with h8rift's rom Refuse(1.4 and up) then your using my kernel
Everyone else, the zip is for flashing via cwm and the tar is to flash via odin.
Note: I do own a infuse as of 06/17 but if you'd like to donate because of
my work, feel free to do so and thanks
SOURCE is UPDATED:
https://github.com/razor950/Defuse-Kernel
Changelog
V1.0
- Implemented tinyrcu and lowmemkiller
- Implemented neldar's BackLightNotification 2.3
- Kernel HZ is at 500
V1.1
- fixed video memory bug (this fixed ffc / video decoding)
V1.2
- implemented supercurio's voodoo sound
- added jhash3 function for speed and better reliability
v1.3
- fixed BLN issues, it can be turned off now within the bln controls
v1.4
- added ext4 patchset (LinuxBozo)
- implemented BFQ I/O scheduler and set it as default (LinuxBozo)
- minor compiler flags for optimization (still need to add to this)
- modified initramfs tweaked for performance (LinuxBozo)
- BLN is off for now due to it being too random with bugs (no eta when it'll be back)
Nice. This is beginning to look like a Sammy forum.
*edit: Feel free to take this post if you want.
Omg omg omg omfg omfg flashing now!

If you need an Infuse and everyone starts to donate, I'd jump in to and donate some money. Or if you're able to do it with just donations and no phone, I may donate as well.
I do not ask for money to keep development going....
Donations would go straight to buying a infuse but I might be willing to just go out giving a certain amount of donations and I am not sure because I've never really asked to donate...
just to double check, is BLN working?

I am going to bed, i know h8rift tested it today and bln was working, I'll double check tomorrow...
it won't be a completely noticeable difference yet until more changes but BLN is nice (I'll check why its not working)
Only thing I can suggest is try latest refuse 1.4 rom and let me know if BLN works then.
Can't tell if I got it but benchmark is stuck at video decoding and won't move? Can someone tell me how to see if it flashed ok?

I also got stuck at Video Decoding in the benchmark. Outside of that everything seems to be working fine so far.
Edit: Nevermind, it looks like the front facing camera is broken again. I was on the newest Infused rom and it worked there, but after flashing this kernel it doesn't work anymore. My phone froze after I tried taking a picture.

Tegrak loads it's own OC modules I believe...
I've not personally used Tegrak before so, YMMV,.

What CPU governor? Again YMMV if not using the defaults.
There are many "issues" with the froyo (2.6.32) source's handling of CPU frequency.
I spent a fair amount of time implementing all the governors and trying to get them working properly, unfortunately I wasn't able to get them all "stable".
Also, I haven't had a ton of people testing for me, so your phone may handle things better or worse than mine.
You will have to find what works best for you (and it might not be this kernel).
ps- I'm hoping the gingerbread source doesn't have the all same problems...

[Kernel List] HTC Doubleshot Kernels. February 21, 2012.

Kernels for the HTC Doubleshot. I'll update, and make it look more nice later. I put some time into this, so hopefully it's used. If there's any Kernels I'm missing, or info that's wroung let me know. Now I give you the First
::HTC Doubleshot Kernel List::
Basic Terms:
Undervolt (UV): An Undervolted Kernel is a Kernel that's supossed to bring in Battery savings. The higher the Undervolt, the better the battery savings. But this isn't with out drawbacks. Some CPU's can't handle higher Undervolts. So you'll have to figure out if your CPU can handle it. This can be done by starting at the highest UV, then see if it causes issues. If so, drop to the next UV (8%, 5%, 2%). If no issues (Like Reboots, Blackouts, etc.) Enjoy the UV.
Overclock (OC): This is simple, it's just making yours phones CPU go faster than it comes stock. Our device has a Qualcomm® 8260 dual core Snapdragon™, 1.5Ghz (But shipped at 1182Mhz). So an OC would be anything higher than a 1.2Ghz (Really 1.5Ghz). With an Adreno 220 GPU.
GPU: A graphics processing unit or GPU (also occasionally called visual processing unit or VPU) is a specialized electronic circuit designed to rapidly manipulate and alter memory in such a way so as to accelerate the building of images in a frame buffer intended for output to a display.
For the less geeky, it controlls anything based with graphics.
Icecream Sandwhich (ICS) : Android 4.0.X
Stock Speed 1.2Ghz UV 0%
OC 1.5Ghz/Slightly UV 2%
OC 1.5Ghz/Middle UV 5%
OC 1.5Ghz/Extremely UV 8%
These Kernels are made by tbalden. There to only be used with ICS Roms. There are both OC, and UV Kernels.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505394
[ROM][Feb 19 2012] Pyr'o'Ice ICS Desensed 1.1.0 - Android 4.0.3, AOSPish, 1.5GHz OC
The Kernels are the 3rd post down, and updated when need be.
Gingerbread (GB) : Android 2.3.X
Note: Anybody using any newer Radios, or HBoots. Any kernel that isn't Stock might cause issues. Most GB Kernels where made for the Stock Hboot, and Radio.
How to flash these: Reboot into Recovery. Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, and Mount System. Then Flash Kernel. Wait 10 Minutes (For best results) Then do a regular reboot.
Stock Kernel
This is the Kernel that comes on the Stock Rom. No OC, no added parts. Just how HTC sent it. Use this if you want a super stable Kernel. Or flash a bad Kernel, and can't boot.
Thanks to Undead for making this flashable Zip. (Enjoy your GSII Undead)

Romanbb's Kanged Kernel v.0.1
OC to 1.512 GHz
[*]UV across the board
[*]Upgraded to .14 from .10
[*]compiled with Snapdragon optimizations
Theres two of these Kernels. They're both very unstable, and cause a lot of random reboots. They're for use for any Rom based of the Stock Rom.

Stock Kernel with CIFS.ko, Tun.ko, NLS_UTF8.ko.
By Nusferatu
Just a stock kernel with CIFS.ko , TUN.ko , NLS_UTF8.ko built in
Works fine for me except for 1 bug (it's related to cifs i suppose) :
- on samba server rights for folder\files must be 777 or cifs won't allow to execute\view any.

Heres the Website http://www.virtuousrom.com/
This Kernel is "Stable" any clock speeds above 1080Mhz causes issues, reboots, etc. But IMO this is the best Kernel for any GB Rom. This can be used with MIUI, any Sense 3.0, and Stock Based Rom.
The Download Link for this Rom is Broken, so I'll upload it later tonight.
I'll Upload any Kernel, to any File share site on Request.

Correction - the maximum processor clock speed as recommended by the manufacturer is 1.5 - HTC nerfed it down to 1.2, so saying it's a 1.2 processor is not accurate.
The GPU is the Adreno 220.
I'll toss more tech specs in later.

I know but im not all that interested in Oc, more interested in battery savings. Also I use wifi alot so the unity kernel seems best to me.

I forgot to ask if any of these kernels support the latest software version 1.55 with hboot 1.45. And does the unity kernel support these version's?

Is this exclusive for mazel rom?
Or can we use this in stock ics?
Just flashed the kernel. For some reason unable to use WiFi. Not being detected. Initial reactions: pretty smooth. I'm on bb rom. Will test for a while and update.

buddy I used ur kernel , but the battery life is terrible,
I think it is because of oc , I set it to 1ghz but for some reason it stays in 1.2ghz, I checked in CPU spy...
so my suggestion is to delete the oc because no one is using it
although with this kernel the phone runs very smooth and snappy

Thank you selva for the effort buddy:beer: so
used the kernel for a while.
Pros
1. Deep sleep perfect
2. Zero game lag. Tried with Subway surfers
3. Silky smooth
Cons
1. WiFi not working/connecting even after wiping cache/dalvik.
As I don't have much 2g data left for this month reverting back to ardatdat beta 6.

Battery Life, yes it may be terrible as its only beta version. Its not because of OC. Its because i have not included all the tweaks needed for battery life. Still its in testing stage. Reason for including OC and having only 1.2 ghz is to test whether its preventing the game lag. Generally when i OC with limits and intermediate ranges as 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, mostly the mobile clock in 1.1 ghz and very rarely going to 1.2 ghz. So i skipped 1.1 and included only 1.2 ghz.. Just a testing.
Will you add BFQ scheduler at a later stage? I have good experience with that and have been using it since I moved permanently to CM.

Let's try again : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950052 - it's a "fixed" kernel by codeworkx for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, my other device, which also had serious lags and freezes in ICS as our Galaxy R. Hope there is magic you can add from that to your kernel.
Ok now..included intermediate freq of 1100 and then the BFQ scheduler as suggested by Adam. Getting few compiler errors for BFQ. Will check it tomorrow.
And finally setup the environment for AOSP build. As Ubuntu 12.04 was not supporting all the branches to do AOSP build (though its gud for kernels), now setup a diff environment using 10.04. Will Start init/sync tomorrow.
Nice work buddy! You can spare a lot of upload bandwidth by adding a '.gitignore' file. It tells git to ignore the specified files so they will not be pushed. Get one (specified for kernels) here: https://github.com/Adam77Root/android_kernel_samsung_i9103/blob/jellybean/.gitignore

Testers needed for CM10 kernel
Friends,
Need some testers for a new CM10 kernel. I have not even tried it as im doing some testing with ICS kernel in my device. So those who are about to test, have a back-up and then test this kernel. No special features added yet. Just wanna check whether its boots-up in cm10.

Sooo...did you find anything useful in that blamesamsung kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950052 ?
