revolutionary did not detect my phone any video or other method to get root? help me out please

Make sure you're phone is on usb debugging mode:
settings > applications > development, make sure usb debugging is checked.
Also make sure you have this driver installed if you're using a pc.

do i put it in charge or USB
or sync

no luck with it

on your phone, press the menu button, then go to settings, then go to applications, then go to development, then check the usb debugging box.
after that you can use the alpharev tool as instructed.

ok unchecked it then re checked it and worked

Glad I could help

[Q] Rooting Motorola Defy

I have been trying to use his tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9456771
I have tried: Superoneclick and z4root to no avail.
The problem I am having is that once i enter the line:
./exploit.bin
and then the exploit runs, my device is registered as offline.
So when I type in the cmd 'adb devices', my device is found, but is offline. Everytime I try this it is the same result. Can someone help me out here?
Go to Settings > Applications > Development > Check “USB Debugging” option.
Thanks for the advice, I already had USB Debugging enabled. I did try and toggle it on/off, but it did not work either.

There are various methods which work. This one did it for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=889133
Also you could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913709
However, after rooting the phone, I am having trouble loading another ROM. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?
I also have an issue with the sdcard not being readable from the SndInitDefy 1.4.2 and it's CWM recovery version 2.5.1.8. Similar to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1133420
If I try installing a ROM directly using CWM, the phone ends up stuck in bootup on the motorolla logo. Gotta reflash to get it working again.

PC won't read my nexus 5

Ive tried everything my pc doesn't recognize my nexus 5, downloaded google drivers, updated adb and nothing.
When i go to device manager I can't find it.
When I go to devices and printers i can see nexus 5 but can't access it.
When i switch to PTP THe device works but MTP doesn't. USB debug on and off don't help either help?
I deleted now every driver installed phone shows up as android adp when connected but can't access it or nothing?
IT works fine on other pc
hey had the same problem. The solution below worked for me...
1. Enable USB debugging: Go to phone settings -> About -> Tap build number repeatedly until developer menu is enabled. Go there and tick USB debugging.
2. On your PC, go to your device manager (when the Phone is plugged in and set to MTP), locate the phone, right click on it -> properties
3. go to the Driver tab
4. click Update Driver
5. click Browse my Computer for driver software
6. click Let my pick...
7. select USB Composite Device
8. finish up with the assistant
This is going to be stating the obvious, but do you have a screen lock code? PCs will recognise the device, but wont let you access unless unlocked

That worked perfectly. Thanks man! I was starting to pull my hair out.
Ok I'm having this same issue. Completely stock right now. It makes the notification sound like its connected but can't locate it on mtp. I tried to follow this guide, however I can't locate the device in device manager on mtp. It shows fine on ptp. Please advise....thanks
Edit: I saw a download to add mtp capabilities to my win7 machine. Thing is, it works no problem with my galaxy s3 now so that couldn't be the issue
Watch, as I combine all the juice from my mind...

Ok, i tried like everythin.. all that pops up is that nexus 5 don't have any driver / and access denied.. my nexus is at 4.4.3 software.. and i cant connect my N5 as PTP aswell... seems like i'm really stuck here :/ i'll try to reinstall my USB drivers, mabye that helps somehow... But, would everythin be easier if i Root my N5 ?
Sorry for crappy english
The reason why I gave you the link was for you to do a manual installation of the Nexus 5 drivers. Even if you're going to root, you still need your PC to recognize your phone. When browsing your computer for driver software in Step 5, point to the file you downloaded from the link.

What I have done so far, is install Android SDK. Through there, I installed the USB drivers. Still nothing appears. When I go to "Devices and Printers", the phone appears under "Unspecified Devices" as shown here Someone help please?
If it helps, I had two Samsung devices prior to this phone.
Silly Question?

I just got a Nexus 5 and Windows 8 (had to upgrade my life). This may be an obvious question, but once in Device Manager, where to I "locate the phone". I've done your previous steps but don't know where the phone it located.

I can help you . I just had the same issue. I forgot how lol. Let me see. Uninstall the drivers and turn off the USB debugging mode and turn off development mode. Disconnect the nexus and reconnect and profit? I'm pretty that's the fix because I had the same issue for an hour and I fix it myself.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Thank u so much

Connecting Idol 3 as MTP Device

Quick heads up for interested in transferring files via your computer. For me, my Windows 7 computer wasn't plug and play for some reason. It charged my Idol 3 and saw files in PTP mode but MTP mode was didn't successfully download the drivers. I tried downloading the drivers from Alcatel's website but they are outdated from the looks of things.
I had to do the following. Just documenting it in case it is a common occurrence to save someone else an hour of tinkering:
Settings > About Phone > Tap 'Build # 7 times > go to Developer Mode > Enable USB Debugging > Connect phone to computer > Change from MTP mode to Drivers CD ROM mode > Install Driver
The drivers are different from the website RAR file I am guessing because a) they worked for me and b) they have a more recent timestamp compared to the website version (2013 vs 4/2015)
So are saying no download of driver is needed? Just developer mode activated?

No. The driver needed is in the phone already and I had to enable dev mode to enable debug mode to enable my phone to be recognized by my computer. After that I manually downloaded the driver (just double clicked an EXE file correlated to my Windows version type)

If I click on the "usb mode" in notifications it lets me select 4 things..mtp, ptp, charging only and cdrom/driver mode. I'm pretty sure that option was there before I enabled debugging but not 100% certain.

It's definitely possible that you can just go through cd rom/driver mode. I read this post and assumed that I had to enable dev mode to get my idol 3 to be recognize in driver mode and then I could download the driver

How to make then USB menu option - connect_to_pc value=true on bootup

My TV box is 100% rooted, but does not have a Developer Option, seems this was disable or removed by the vendor!
But it does have a USB Menu Section that has the option = "connect_to_pc" that has to be turn on manually, and then I am able to see it when i connect it via a OTG Cable > USB to a PC using ADB,
but the issue is: If the box is rebooted then the USB option "connect_to_pc" is then return to the default state = false and I would like to know when i can find and edit the boot up settings config file
to make it = true on boot up, so when I do any ADB commands that might and/or will make it reboot that it will pick up the "connect_to_pc" and still be able to connect to the box while it is still
connect and using the OTG USB cable after any reboot.
If any one know where the boot up setting config file is located so i can then review and/or edit the setting value=true?.
2nd option: is there a way to run a .sh script while it booting up to be able to make the USB turn on in the connect_to_pc mode?
Thanks in advance to all the forum moderators and members!
