Greetings all,
I'm just a noob that wants LG to release the kernel source for the latest OTA so the community devs can play with it. I would love to play with it myself but I haven't even finished my math prerequisites to begin my computer science degree. Until then and I learn something about coding, all I can do is this.
I've provided a link here to the LG open source site. Search for the proper device, then there will be a button on this page that allows you to contact LG. I propose that we all SPAM their inbox with requests for them to release the V21e kernel source.
Thanks

Thank you for your interest about our mobile phone, LGP999.
“We received your request on LG Open Source Code Distribution site.
This site is just for providing source codes of FOSS(Free and Open Source Software) we have used in our product.”
We will release the source you requested until next week.
We hope this information will help you.
Thank you.

I had considered posting this in General but to me the subject of "kernel source code" is much more development related than for instance, "how well do you like your phone?"
I would expect those who frequent the dev. threads to be much more interested in this than those who browse the general. Just one man's POV. I made a decision and I'll live with it's consequences.
Done ...
Most recent response is below:
Dear [My Name],
We are so sorry for keep you waiting for a month.
Our development team is planning to release the source code until 8/26 because of summer vacation.
Please wait for more days.
Best regards.
Thank you.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the 2.6.35.7 kernel source for the T959V?
I have looked on the Samsung OpenSource site, and it appears they only have the Froyo kernel source listed. I have also contacted Samsung two weeks ago, then again on Monday, and have not yet received a response.
If anyone has it, or knows how I can get it, please let me know; in case I'm missing something.
Thanks in advance!

Ugh that means we could be waiting til october for source code.
[Q] Is there anyone running a "custom built" version of CM7 that they could share?
Hi all...
I would like to try a CM7 ROM on my Infuse but I am in no way too technical to make my own from source so...
I am wondering if there is anyone here who has built a nice CM7 from source that could maybe share so I can give it a go???
I hope this is not too much to ask and I thank you in advance...

If you look through the cm7 thread a few users have posted it. Just that others hate when they do so they discourage it on that thread because they don't want extra bug reports.

No its not that he does not want it posted on that thread, he does not want it posted at all until it is finished.
If you look at other rom threads there are tons of questions that should not have been there. What he is doing is like a semi private beta, it will help fix problems faster without having to answer simple questions. Things like who do I flash this, will it work with this kernel, and such.
Now I am not saying that its not on the web but you will have to find it and not ask for a link.
I dedicated a virtual machine to building CM7, so I can pull from the source rep and do a snapshot build pretty much anytime.
Problem is that we are not supposed to share it. LinuxBozo posted somewhere why this restriction, but I don't recall the link. Maybe someone could remind what the url to that post is.

People, if you want to share your own builds, I can't stop you. Hell, I don't even really care. I just ask if you do share, don't post them in the original thread, and make sure that whoever you are sharing with understands that this is currently not finished, has issues (especially with BT right now), and that unless they know what 'dmesg' and 'logcat' are, they will get absolutely no support from me and are on their own.

You guys have to understand from his point of view. Do u know how many questions or post saying things need to get fixed would pop up the whole reason around building your own from source is that if you can do that you should be able to put out questions and answer that help instead of simple or complex things that have being covered if you have the basic understanding and you can actually help with issues address them correctly ina Manet that helps fix it than its easier to get things sorted out before a release. So he doesn't want them in the original thread. I would suggest if you can find someone to share it since you have the approval now have them pm you not share it over the thread or any other thread and don't share it your self so it doesn't cause the other thread or any other to get cramped with questions that can or can't be answered. So if you get it keep it to yourself to help with that factor

ok, so given that it is better not to post links to home-brew builds on these forums, I figured to put mine here:
http://tools.1url.ws/cm7infuse.php
for who's craving to run CM7 on their infuse, and doesn't have the time/setup/etc. to build it on his own.
All the warnings, disclaimers, etc. stand of course. No support provided, no guarantee I'll build more in the future. As time allows every few days I plan to grab the latest sources and do a new build to post it there.
At this time I'm using the 10/12/2011 build, and aside from the known issues, works pretty well for me. But then again, you might end up having a totally different experience.

we have the source code for K3, but 1st make it to boot on our devices, than debug for the new Kernel bugs, than continue to port CM9.
so, not like we have kernel 3, than we have CM9 stright away.

I would be happy to help port kernel 3.x to this device. Your best bet is to go for kernel 3.4 as it's newer and will have more security and performance boosts, and it will also have updates to the OMAP architecture.
The only thing holding me back from helping you guys is the lack of a device. I have heard a few people want to organise one (some guy named Fuss is getting rid of his?), I'd be happy to pay for shipping the device to New Zealand.
This is OMAP so anything is possible for this phone.

Well here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26295293&postcount=11. He was developing for our phone after we donated a device to him, but in the end could not do much for us, maybe he had some real life problems or something, but now he is willing to give it away. Are you sure you are willing to pay the shipping costs? It would be great, but i think we should hear from dhiru first. He is porting CM9 to our device currently, and is doing an awesome job so far, just needs the kernel 3.x Here is the CM9 thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449649

Wow. Aren't you a persistent one... Ive seen your spams in 3 different threads already. And you've been replied to by three different guys. Now you've bumped a 16 day old thread...
So Mamica, since we're in the general section, can you enlighten us with your reason for asking the ETA and the developer of Kernel 3.0 over and over and over again? What's the reason for this urgency?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda premium
there isn't any urgency and the people i asked didn't answer me at all

@Mamika, you don't have to ask this in every thread u see. If people don't answer u is because it is answered. It is very simple to read threads and get ur own answers to everything. People is tired of other who want the easy way. They ask and want people to solve their doubts and questions...
Kernel 3.0 port hasn't started. Hillbeast is going to compile it and dhiru will use it to solve bugs like HW acceleration in video. Hillbeast needs a device. Fuss has sent his device to hillbeast a week ago and it is going by ship so we don't know when will it arrive. No one knows that so please stop asking, be pacient and do not spam the threads. Hope u understand..
This is what I wanted, a simple answer. It took a long to give one.....Thanks for your desire to write

Of course there is. Every Dev who has created a ICS will make a JB. Not sure this is worthy of a thread start. Next week things will start rolling in Kernels and Rom's. Just enjoy JB.
Nothing is coming until we have source. This thread only asks a question that even a little bit of logic would make unnecessary. I don't get why anyone would feel the need to ask it, I mean what's their reasoning? Is every kernel dev is sitting on their hands until someone asks if anyone's working on something?

Hi Guys,
I tried to post in Developer forum, but it says I cannot ask questions there. Hopefully, developers read these Q&A threads.
I am a software developer and have created a few Android apps. I'm familiar with the Android platform and programming in general.
I've done a ton a research on ROM development and believe I will be able to contribute.
Unfortunately, my Google-fu seems to be failing me because I am missing the most important part.
I cannot find where you guys are getting the source for the OTA updates?
I mean, I found the source for bare Android and could use that... but I want to start with the OTA source.
For example, I am looking for the source for OTA 4.1.2 VRBMB1 that has all the TouchWiz stuff.
Thanks a ton if you can point me in the correct direction.
Online search "Samsung source code," then click Samsung's website, search for "SCH-I535," and that's all I got.
