Hi.. any dev
Our cm9 is under progress because the 3.0 kernel is hold .dhiru can finish a fully working cm9 with a 3.0 kernel.
So we( users of i9003)hope any Dev can help us in the kernel development...can put time in..
It is our last hope in i9003

@all
we have the source code for K3, but 1st make it to boot on our devices, than debug for the new Kernel bugs, than continue to port CM9.
so, not like we have kernel 3, than we have CM9 stright away.

I would be happy to help port kernel 3.x to this device. Your best bet is to go for kernel 3.4 as it's newer and will have more security and performance boosts, and it will also have updates to the OMAP architecture.
The only thing holding me back from helping you guys is the lack of a device. I have heard a few people want to organise one (some guy named Fuss is getting rid of his?), I'd be happy to pay for shipping the device to New Zealand.
This is OMAP so anything is possible for this phone.

Well here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26295293&postcount=11. He was developing for our phone after we donated a device to him, but in the end could not do much for us, maybe he had some real life problems or something, but now he is willing to give it away. Are you sure you are willing to pay the shipping costs? It would be great, but i think we should hear from dhiru first. He is porting CM9 to our device currently, and is doing an awesome job so far, just needs the kernel 3.x Here is the CM9 thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449649

Wow. Aren't you a persistent one... Ive seen your spams in 3 different threads already. And you've been replied to by three different guys. Now you've bumped a 16 day old thread...
So Mamica, since we're in the general section, can you enlighten us with your reason for asking the ETA and the developer of Kernel 3.0 over and over and over again? What's the reason for this urgency?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda premium
there isn't any urgency and the people i asked didn't answer me at all
---------- Post added at 05:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:30 PM ----------
i just want to know if the project started
@Mamika, you don't have to ask this in every thread u see. If people don't answer u is because it is answered. It is very simple to read threads and get ur own answers to everything. People is tired of other who want the easy way. They ask and want people to solve their doubts and questions...
Kernel 3.0 port hasn't started. Hillbeast is going to compile it and dhiru will use it to solve bugs like HW acceleration in video. Hillbeast needs a device. Fuss has sent his device to hillbeast a week ago and it is going by ship so we don't know when will it arrive. No one knows that so please stop asking, be pacient and do not spam the threads. Hope u understand..
This is what I wanted, a simple answer. It took a long to give one.....Thanks for your desire to write

Got another question (just curiosity XD). And it's: How to port another devices Rom? For example, how to build cyanogenmod from source to make it compatible with G3?
I know C, Java, a little (very little) of asm and others languajes. But I really want to learn how to do it. Have looked it up on google, but I can't find anything "actual" (All I find is for Hero o G1 xP)...
Of course, I don't expect someone to explain it to me, but with a simple guide or something to "give me an idea of how to do it" It'll be great
Thanks in advance.
Doesn't anybody know how to compile or port a Rom to G3?
I'd really like to learn..
dude if it would hav been that easy..our devs would hav already ported it by now..
havent come across any such guide as to porting..it's only that one can learn from devs by asking how to and sharing knowledge
EDIT: I'd really like to learn too..

I got a reputation for stupid questions. XD
Well it's damn complex and tough to PORT roms and so only people like marcell, hill beast, apollo5801 are able to port. Even don't know and i would love to learn. But u need to to more than just Java. U also need to know how the android system works.

Porting involves replacing the drivers/libs of other devices roms with our rom and flashing them. Easy to say but theres alot more to do. Well the basic thing is getting the drivers to work though.

No its not that he does not want it posted on that thread, he does not want it posted at all until it is finished.
If you look at other rom threads there are tons of questions that should not have been there. What he is doing is like a semi private beta, it will help fix problems faster without having to answer simple questions. Things like who do I flash this, will it work with this kernel, and such.
Now I am not saying that its not on the web but you will have to find it and not ask for a link.
I dedicated a virtual machine to building CM7, so I can pull from the source rep and do a snapshot build pretty much anytime.
Problem is that we are not supposed to share it. LinuxBozo posted somewhere why this restriction, but I don't recall the link. Maybe someone could remind what the url to that post is.

People, if you want to share your own builds, I can't stop you. Hell, I don't even really care. I just ask if you do share, don't post them in the original thread, and make sure that whoever you are sharing with understands that this is currently not finished, has issues (especially with BT right now), and that unless they know what 'dmesg' and 'logcat' are, they will get absolutely no support from me and are on their own.

You guys have to understand from his point of view. Do u know how many questions or post saying things need to get fixed would pop up the whole reason around building your own from source is that if you can do that you should be able to put out questions and answer that help instead of simple or complex things that have being covered if you have the basic understanding and you can actually help with issues address them correctly ina Manet that helps fix it than its easier to get things sorted out before a release. So he doesn't want them in the original thread. I would suggest if you can find someone to share it since you have the approval now have them pm you not share it over the thread or any other thread and don't share it your self so it doesn't cause the other thread or any other to get cramped with questions that can or can't be answered. So if you get it keep it to yourself to help with that factor

ok, so given that it is better not to post links to home-brew builds on these forums, I figured to put mine here:
http://tools.1url.ws/cm7infuse.php
for who's craving to run CM7 on their infuse, and doesn't have the time/setup/etc. to build it on his own.
All the warnings, disclaimers, etc. stand of course. No support provided, no guarantee I'll build more in the future. As time allows every few days I plan to grab the latest sources and do a new build to post it there.
At this time I'm using the 10/12/2011 build, and aside from the known issues, works pretty well for me. But then again, you might end up having a totally different experience.

MIUI is much newer, supports quite few devices and it's basically based on CM. To get MIUI u must first have CM /AOSP.

Seeking advice on building AOSP
Hi,
I want to learn building ROMS. I am aware that it is a difficult job, but I want to give it a try. I have read the AOSP buld instructions, but they don't mention the steps involved in creating a new build target. I understand that the process is maybe different for each device, so could any of the ROM developers here please tell me about the steps involved in doing the same for our Galaxy R?
If the answer is very involved, a short summary and relevant links will help a lot, too.

They wont do it just cause someone else is asking them to do it. Every developer develops what is he capable or comfortable developing. U cant tell them what to do . Let them do what they are comfortable doing.
Since the devs are busy on Kernel 3.0 they cant look into this stuff. Maybe later sometime down the lane if they want to they will .
Anyways good luck with Appreciating Devs this way :good:

I have zero experience building roms but i have recently switched from an Infuse 4G running the Beanstalk rom from scott.hart.bti. The rom has amazing customizations and too many features to list. It is based on CM10.1. I was hoping maybe somebody could help me port it over to the skyrocket. The beanstalk thread does have instructions for porting to other devices but having zero experience in doing so i thought i should ask for some help and see what other people are willing to do on this as well. The thread is here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091900

I have zero experience building roms but i have recently switched from an Infuse 4G running the Beanstalk rom from scott.hart.bti. The rom has amazing customizations and too many features to list. You should check out the Project Rookie thread in the Dev section. Those guys might be able/willing to give you a hand.

I did read through that i just wasn't sure if i should post this here or in that thread. I was sort of hoping that somebody who knows how to do this stuff might try to build it as i cant even attempt to start for about a month as i am in the process of moving across the country. Figured if maybe people saw how many options there are in this rom it might spark some interest and get some more variety of roms to choose from (not that the roms available aren't already awesome )
This looks cool ... taking a crack at it today for the SR.

Seems pretty well put together and simple to make it work on the SR since it is based on CM10.1 - if all goes well, I'll post a flashable zip for testing to the rookie thread at some point today.
Just waiting for the repo to finish syncing ....

No sweat. Just kicked off the build. Provided I don't run into any major snags I'll have something for you guys to flash later today.

I did notice, I just didn't think you'd appreciate someone else doing your job for you.
Lets keep on topic here ... if the mods want to move this, that's up to them.
And speaking of on topic, build is just about done. Had to restart it twice for a couple minor things that I messed up with the device specific inclusions. The vast majority of packages built just fine though, so it should be too much longer.
I also elected to build it with the Marla kernel, not the stock CM10.1 kernel.

You're welcome. Do me a favor, get this thread locked when you get a chance, I'm preparing a new thread to release the build officially and provide support.
Hopefully I'll have that posted up sometime this evening.
Also, thanks for bringing this ROM to our attention - I'm sure people are really going to dig it.
Great job porting CvD. It's running great so far!

am i blind?? i am also interested in taking this for a spin, but I've refreshed the main development page, and don't see CvD's new thread on this ROM. Can someone point me to the download link?
