Hi guys...I have a rather atypical (to this forum anyways) question. How do I go about reflashing the firmware on a Samsung Gusto?
The reason for doing this is because the phone somehow went into download mode by itself. I'm not sure how that happened but it did and now when ever I try to turn it on it does nothing. The only way to get a sign of life out of it is by plugging it in and then it shows the verizon screen at which point it does nothing else.
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
There is no available drivers for this specific phone. No way to connect to PC as fas as I know.

i cant believe i did this but i have a sprint tp2 and i accidentally install the wrong rom, i installed 1.8b_Sense_2.5_2012_Full, and after the update the phone wont turn on so i cant even do the bootloader. and hard reset either, nothing is responding. is there any way i can get out of this with a working phone?? would the people at sprint be able to help? and please no smart ass comments im really bummed out about this right now
It should be ok if you only install a gsm rom. If you installed a gsm unlocker than it is bricked. Just push the bootloader buttons with the phone off. If it doesn't go to bootloader it is bricked.
i installed the rom but i think the damn thing CAME with the radio unlocker inside the rom. i cant get into bootloader...
please help
If you can't get into bootloader and it wont turn on it is bricked.
Not to hijack the thread, but on the subject of bricking the phone...
I tried to install Hard SPL using SSPL Manual (downloaded from a link on ppcgeeks.com). I ran it from the phone, and the screen blanked as normal, but no USB device was detected after doing so and the manual Hard SPL would not work either.
I tried to reset and remove the battery. The phone will not turn on, will not enter boot loader mode, nothing! EXCEPT for one thing, when I plug in USB now, it is detected as a Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. No driver though (Win 7 or Win XP).
Is there any way to recover from this?

Hi, I have the exact same issue as the member above. I tryed to go to the ftp site you reccomended, but can't download. Can you please help! I cant sleep or think of anything else. Can't believe I did that to my phone.
go here and then to touch pro 2 stock roms. ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/
Thanks for the replies.
I can't load the stock ROM since the phone is not recognized by ActiveSync. While you can see it when you connect USB, it isn't actually usuable as there is no driver loaded for it. And many drivers I've tried for it do not work either.
I did try [to install the ROM] though just to make sure there was no magic going on behind the scenes, but no go.
EDIT: Grammer fix
Hello, I recently decided to root my phone and place Cyanogenmod on it. When I did that I realized my radio was no longer working. In an attempt to just get back to a working phone for the time being I flashed a rom that I believe was just for the Nexus S and not Nexus S 4G. Due to my stupidity I am unable to communicate from the device to my computer using USB. When I attach the device to the computer nothing happens. The device does not even appear in the device manager. I have tried on multiple computers as well. On top of that the rom seems to have put me back into the stock recovery. If anyone could help me figure out just how to get USB working again I would be very appreciative.
I should note that I can still transfer files to the phone using the sd card or via ftp.
Thank you for your time and help.
Change the USB cable?
Yes, forgot to mention that. I have tried 2 cables both of which work on other devices.
What if you hold in the middle of the volume buttons (i.e. both up and down at the same time) and keep holding, then plug in to your usb port? It should come up as download mode. If it will do that you might try using Odin.
Or try a different machine perhaps?
are the drivers the same for the S as the 4g?
do you have clockwork on the phone or have you tried to run recover by holding volume up and power?
just throwing things out.
Hello, I appreciate any and all suggestions and help.
I have Odin downloaded and installed, but the computer can not find the device so Odin can not do what it needs to do. This is even the case in download mode.
In terms of recovery I am on the stock recovery. I was on clockwork but made a small mistake and now am back to stock.
I know if I can just get the computer to see the phone exists I can fix it.
If you can find the full OTA package for NS4G, you can try putting it on the SD card and flash it via stock recovery.
Also another thing worth trying is connecting the phone to an Ubuntu machine and see if it's detected or not.
I have tried looking for the original full OS. I will continue looking, but the different OS thing is a good idea I did not think of. I will attempt that now. Thank you.
I installed Ubuntu and the Android SDK and Ubuntu was unable to see the phone as well. I am going to keep searching for the original firmware to see if that will fix it. Thank you for your help so far, it is greatly appreciated.
I have found the only rom my phone will accept now is
Android 2.3.4/GRJ22/KRKC1 Radio/KA3 Bootloader
Which is for the M200 variant. This apparently the Korean version.

I have a Xperia S running cm 12.1 with unlocked bootloaders TWRP installed and i tried to partition my SD card [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584759] but clearly something went wrong and now the phone wont boot. I made a lot of research and tried everything but all the guides require to be able to boot into flashmode . My phone is dead the only sign of life is a red led when its charging which after some hours of charge will shut off. When the light is off and the phone connected on PC, the PC can recognize the device on unspecified devices (QHSUSB_DLOAD). i have installed all the needed drivers from Sony, google drivers from sdk, and adb drivers(adb wont see the device and i tried everything to do so, but nothing seem to work). I got a market for android on my pc called mobogenie that when i connect the phone it detects that a phone is connected but wont see what phone. The hardware reset buttons work but its useless in the current position. Concluding, the phone is bricked and wont open in fastboot-flashboot-bootloader-TWRP, its recognized as a device but not as "Xperia s" i got all the drivers and i want to flash the original firmware (already downloaded) to fix it. A possible problem is that the partition table is destroyed and after the flash it will hopefully be restored. The problem is not on the hardware but on software. I tried to trigger the download mode with the Samsung way (USB jig, 300k ohm ) but nothing happened as expected. Every solution i found required flash mode which is not accessible at the moment and i tried lots of things to go into fastboot(ever the rubber band trick, remove the battery etc). PLEASE help i dont know what to do, please help me flash it (i already got flashtool, Emma) or anohter solution. Thanks for the help in advance. (its my first thread in the forum, i hope to post it on the right section, i posted it here because i need the assistance of the developers i guess)
