Need Help - How to Install Gingerbread in Rooted Phone - EVO Shift 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my phone with a 1

Not sure what A1 is . But if your sure you have Full Root, not Temp Root. Have Superuser Permissions. Also installed recovery. It would be Clockwork Mod Recovery. Then just place the Gingerbread Rom of your choice in the root of your SD Card. Boot into Recovery. Do a full wipe, and then Flash your Rom. If your not sure what these terms are, then I would highly suggest doing a bit more reading and research before you flash a rom. Just a heads up from someone who's been there .

Thanks
My initial question was apparently incomplete, but you anticipated it.
I rooted my HTC Shift with a 1-step program.
Now, the OTA Gingerbread from HTC will not install.
Follow up questions:
--is there a particular Gingerbread ROM from HTC for the HTC EVO Shift 4G? Where do I find a Gingerbread ROM that will run on the HTC EVO Shift?
--if I install a Gingerbread ROM, will that wipe out the root?
Thanks again

If your looking for the official update from HTC but don't want to break root you can use this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127169
It's basically a rooted version of the official update.
If you looking to keep Sense you might want to look into Mik's Gingerbread ROMs. They are running Gingerbread, Sense 2.1 with some 3.0 elements.
Check over in the Shift Development section (
EVO Shift 4G Android Development), there are several Gingerbread ROMs for the Shift... Both Sense and AOSP. Just read through the threads and decide which one(s) you want to try.

You beat me to it crump . But yes most deffinately, X99's rom is a nice Factory Stockish Rom. As far as MikShifted G, I have nothing but GREAT things to say about it of course . If you want a link on where to download. Just click on my Sig

HTC Panache AKA HTC Glacier Gingerbread

So the HTC Panache supposedly comes with an official gingerbread ROM, cincinnatibell . com/consumer/wireless/phones_and_devices/?id=htc_panachedoes anyone know (I did not see any) of a ROM that is just stock Panache. I'm not a fan of anything but stock and have been looking for Gingerbread with ever dying hope.

Plain stock Panache? I'm not aware of this plain stock Panache, i've heard of sense, motorblur, touchwiz, but not stock Panache.
If you are looking for a 2.3 Sense ROM, There are a few for rooted phones in the development section.

Sorry, what I meant was a stock rom, not a vanilla android rom. I meant, stock as in, manufacturer supplied default gingerbread ROM, in this case running Sense. The devs around here do a fantastic job, no doubt. I just don't want a non-manufacturer supplied ROM. SO, my question was, is there a capture of the panache ROM that I can flash?

This is as close as you'll find. It's essentially a dump of the stock Panache ROM ported to the MT4G (with a few enhancements/mods).

[Q] I need 2.3 Gingerbread

Here is what I am wondering is it possible for a flashed phone with the MikMik rom on it to be flashed to 2.3 gingerbread. I recently purchased this phone with MikMik on it and want to go to 2.3 Gingerbread. Any help would be appreciated.
What version of the rom are you running? The current versions (MikShifted-G at least) are a GB rom (2.3.3)
Yeah mostly all our roms are Gingerbread base. If you look at the software information under settings it will tell you what Android version you are on

You can run the RUU to go back to stock gingerbread but you will lose all root access or there are stock gingerbread roms with root access on the second or third page of the development section. I would link you to it but I'm on my phone

No stock options for you there... you'll have to use a custom ROM with ultra smooth rosie tweak to eliminate 3D
As I know there is no turning back when you unlock your device

Hi there, are you missing the sense interface?
it all depends how you got to CM7 in the first place, which I'm guessing required:
1. S-OFF + custom recovery
2. Root
3. Installed custom rom
To go back you need to do this:
1. Download the *stock* rom RUU files for your phone. This allows you to get the phone back to its original stock form.
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
2. Change the bootloader. This allows the RUU to overwrite it with the stock bootloader and get it back to S-ON. ENG HBoot is a good one that allows overwriting.
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113820
3. Once you've changed the bootloader, flash the stock RUU over it, which should automatically overwrite the bootloader, S-OFF, recovery and ROM.

Sensation 4g ICS OTA root

When the OTA update for ICS drops, will there be a way to root and S-OFF with Revolutionary like there is for Gingerbread? Or will flashing the currently available firmwares be necessary? I'm not sure how the update process will work, as far as these things. I guess my question is: How would I root and S-OFF when ICS drops for Sensation 4g users? Thanks in advance.
Prob not right away.
Remember if you do choose to recieve the stock ics ota that you need to flash the stock recovery or you will end with a brick. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.
But with upgraded FW 3.30 and roms such as virtuous and ARHD ICS theres really no need to update to the official ics. I do understand if you want the official ics though.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I've been trying to decide whether to go back to full stock (S-ON, etc.) and go the OTA way or just do it with the user-friendly firmwares, but I'm pretty hesitant to do the latter because of the chance of bricking. How likely is the chance of a mistake somehow being made, even if the appropriate steps are taken? I mean, I've seen all these threads with people seemingly doing it right but still ending up with bootloops, so I'm quite apprehensive about the whole thing.
Edit: Also, is the final ICS firmware backwards compatible with Gingerbread ROMs, by any chance?
Na. Ics has to run on 3.24 fw and up

You shouldn't end up with a brick if you don't have the stock recovery. I had the real stock experience Rom android 2.3.3 and when I did the software search it found the android 2.3.4 update. I downloaded it but all it says is you have made modifications to your phone...the update won't work.
Also. There is currently NO information whatsoever if revolutionary will update, and if it will support the sensation at all. If it did though I could fix my phone. Personally I'd go for the newest arhd although I can't. It's better than the official will be, I'm guessing that after a week or two sense will start to crash again. No matter what HTC have said.
I did the same as Sensation Lover. Coming from a stock 2.3.4, S-OFF and rooted. After the update completed it just stuck at the HTC splash screen upon reboot.
I just ended up reflashing the 1.50 TMO RUU and then did the update. I was S-OFF before the update via HTC Dev and that stayed.
If you are soff dont go back to son for the update. Like others have already said. You can flash the stock recovery then just use ota with soff. If you decide you want to root it'll be pretty simple

[Q] Noob Question about HTC Sense

Ok So i know since I am rooted on my HTC Sensation 4G I can't do the regular updates. Does this include the HTC Sense updates as well? Thanks for any help.
Sense is a part of the system and comes with the package updates.
Sensationaly sent from my Sensation.
It really depends on more than whether or not you have root. If you have a stock sense rom with all the original apps then you can revert back to a stock recovery and apply the update...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1228648
One method that guide does not cover is the use of a PG58IMG to flash the recovery...
ok thanks man.
