How to open the battery cover? - HTC Desire S

Just bought a new Desire S yesterday, after we bought it I tried to open the battery cover. I can't remove it. We came back to the shop and ask the salesman to remove the battery cover, he removed it effortlessly. He said not to push the battery cover, just slide it out. He let me try and I still cant open it, he then again removed it for me effortlessly.
Is there a pressure point on how to remove it? I noticed a small space on the top side of the battery cover, can I use a knife to pry that open or will I break something on the cover?

Are you crazy?? Do not use a knife! When I first got it, I couldn't remove it aswell, but after a while, it becomes easier to remove. Just follow the instructions carefully; place both thumbs on the back and slide out

I pull mine by holding the sides. Works everytime. Found sliding it too difficult.

read the manual ;-) opening the cover is not that difficult. just have no fear to break it, its nearly impossible.

turn over the phone so thats its face down and then use a thumb and finger to squeeze the sides of the case while pulling it downwards!

ok, thanks for the advice, maybe just a problem on my hands (slippery maybe). maybe i'll use a vice grip top open it, or come back to the shop every time i need to open it

Can i say LOL? )

No offense.

i`m not gonna laugh at the chap...i had a hard time putting it BACK ON.....putting it back on properly

Don't damage that cover its also your antenna so without it you will be getting little to no signal.

The material of the cover is so slippery that i have never managed to open it myself the instructions are obvious, but in reality it is impossible to open

Do you even have this phone? If you did you knew it's difficult to open the cover unlike other phones.

It gets easier over time.

I totally agree with the initiator of this thread, I had the same issue with the battery cover, the system is definitely not user friendly.

be patient!
i believe u can^o^

It COULD get easier over time, but i need to open it at least once or twice to start the progress

It was hard for me at first too. Easiest method I tried was to hold the phone in my left hand around the top of it, with the screen facing away from my palm, then with my right hand put the thumb underneath on the screen, and three fingers pressed down on the battery cover parallel to the phone, then slide it outwards using the three fingers.

Same I don't want it to get loose!
For me its easier to open, because with the invisible shield on it, it gives it more grip to slid it open

HTC Sensation problem?

Okay this is really not big deal, but just though I'd tell you guys and ask y'all have the same thing on your sesation phone
When I press the screen hard, but not like its going to damage the screen, when I do, the screen or the back cover casing don't seem to be tight enough that its like loose.
Anyone here has this going on their sensation?

It's not even that. I know what he's talking about. Say you hold the phone and squeeze it slightly, it'll have a little give to it & will creak. Mine does the same thing. It's my only annoyance with the phone.

that's about the only thing that'll work. My guess is the extra room is there in case the battery expands for some odd reason. I just block it out of my mind & scream LALALLALALALALALA when it happens.

They made the battery cover just a little higher than the battery because after years of using your phone and charging your battery, the battery begins to expand. Its to accommodate the expansion of the battery after a year or so of using your phone. Be happy to hear it!

Are you sure? It would have to expand quite a bit.
I've put a piece of paper in mine for now, fixes the problem nicely and doesn't affect signal or wifi strength (I was worried it might).
It's a bit ridiculous but I rarely remove the back.
I have it too, not too concerned about it or anything though.

You can leave the paper in it for now, but ever 4-5 months or so, pull out the battery and spin it on a flat surface, if it spins, your battery is swelling, which usually comes with age. I'd say after about 1 1/2 years you can buy a new battery if you really need to, but for now, your good!
I'll keep that in mind for the future then, interesting.
Yup I have the issue also. Actually after reading this thread, I wouldn't say its an issue but perhaps a manufacture glitch. Guess we just have to deal with it.
Had this issue with my sensation. When I pressed the bottom right of the screen it creaked and clicked like there was a gap or the battery cover wasn't on the whole way. Funny thing was this started a couple days after having the phone and didn't do this at first. Just exchanged today and new one has no probs atm
Actually for me, the only creaking sound I hear is when I press the buttons on the bottom, especially the home button. But I have to press it kinda hard and towards the bottom left.

I have the black gel skin on mine and I don't have any creaking. That's an option too if you like gel skins. I have to have one. Too worried I'll drop this gorgeous phone.

Anyone know if any company is working on a psychically larger battery for the Inspire

Does anyone know if someone is working on one that would be larger in size then the stock battery?
It's impossible w/ the design of our device hence the power skin case.
i feel like it would be possible, but thats just me, if the battery was shaped like a U and just folded over the the back side of the phone it could slide in and have a case to hold it into place, just an idea

If you think it's possible, come up with the idea and market it to a builder...tons of cash for ya there.
nothing a dremal and soldering iron can't fix
actually the best thing I bought or when Im out is a portable battery pack for 40 bucks
Bring a car charger and a wall charger wherever u go and be done with it. Unless u are out in the middle of the woods or in a building with no electricity, you should be able to charge up on the go.

Do you know how to remove Case Mate POP?

The case is looking good and very protective for the phone.
However it is very difficult to remove the case as it is very fit.
As you know, O3D is battery killer which should swap battery very often.
It is killing me to remove the case...
Anyone can advise how to remove it easily?
Thank you very much
Pop it from the back. Push between the lens, you won't damage the flash.
No easier way.
Funny tip, if you push too slow, your phone will turn off.

Can you fix a jammed button?

For Christmas I got an otterbox case. I was happy about it and have had it on ever since, but when cleaning my one x screen I went to click the lock/power button and noticed it didn't click in like it used to and seemed a little bit harder to push. Its not really a problem but it aggravates me. Is there anyway to fix it?
Sent from Megadoug13's Nuclear Device
Is the button itself jammed in? If you can't pop it out with something very fine, you might have to disassemble the phone to see what the state of the button looks like.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Well if I take the very edge of my finger nail (hard enough cause I hardly have any) and push I can feel it click... But with the pad of my finger it seems really hard to push. I won't put my otterbox case back on because I'm afraid of further damage

Yep, another thing is a few gentle flicks in combination with a good jet of compressed air.

I noticed it was hard to push on my case after a few hours of use but I thought okay rubber... Its gonna take a little bit more, after a day or two it seem really difficult to push my power/lock button. So last night I took my case off and realized my button didn't click anymore, it works just doesn't click which makes it hard to use :/
Sent from Megadoug13's Nuclear Device
A number of people have had that problem. Your options are to live with it or replace it. I know there's at least one guy in this forum it completely stopped on him and now he just runs roms that support sleep to wake lol
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
Like you said before, it might be the rubber getting in the way while you have the case on. By design, the power button is kinda hard to press anyways and feedback on that button is questionable at best. I have the Platinum Series case from Best Buy, and after 3 months of great use, the power tab broke off (After reading alot of feedback on that happening ..)
I've since moved to Elemental Kernel which enabled swipe to lock and unlock. Works a lot better than the button IMO. Only time you would need to use the power button in that case would be to reboot your phone.
I used to have an otterbox. Hated it. Once the rubber gets loose, you'll replace it and see that your buttons are fine. It's just the design of the case and the phone. The phone power button is actually kind of slightly down and not flat so it should be pushed in at an angle. The rubber button doesn't press at this angle until it gets pushed all the way down.
I am having this same issue. I purchased the phone used from a guy who used an otterbox case. I took the case off immediately when I bought it. There was gunk caked into the front camera, and the power button is tough to depress. I am rooted, so I doubt I can bring the phone back to AT&T.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

[Q] Ideas for a sensation with cracked screen

So last night I dropped my phone and shattered the screen. (WHY GOD WHHHYYYY?????) As soon as I get paid, I'm going to go get an HTC One, but I still love the Sensation, and I want to put it to good use, so I'm crowdsourcing ideas.

About chest-height onto concrete. I'm not sure what position it was in when it hit the ground, but I would guess it was face down because I don't see any other (new) marks on it. Before that, it has had maybe 10 hard drops in its lifetime, with only a few very very minor marks on the glass. Overall, very durable because the back plate actually wraps around the sides of the phone and the glass is slightly recessed.

i see. i figured more than less it fell on the screen seems to be the only thing short of slamming it into the ground that will smash this stuff
buy a new screen on ebay. make sure that is perfectly original, then you can easly repair the phone, following a guide on youtube.
You can use it as a piratebox or a wifi bridge, or attach it to a bluetooth controlled car like that http://images.mobilefun.co.uk/graph...ooper-s-bluetooth-controlled-car-p27476-b.jpg with a wireless camera app and use it to spy people

You can use it as a dashcam in your car:
a) It will take movies unattended anyhow.
b) with a cracked screen it will not attract thieves.
You can also use it as a webradio...

Dashcam is a great idea, and you could also use it as a 3G dongle.
But maybe just repairing it is a better option anyway.
