I found the apk's for the Xperia play psp live wallpapers, and I'm running 2.3.3, but the wallpapers don't work. They install fine, but never load. I was just wondering if anyone has gotten them to work?

the files you shall need have been attached here...
Move them using root explorer,to the folders in your phone in same way as the are in the zip, set permissions to 777 for all files....hv fun...

Has anyone successfully installed the SGS LWP's?
I'm especially looking for the Aurora Live Wallpaper.
The only method I see is downloading the signed LWP zip file and going into recovery and unzipping it.
But I don't how safe that is and what could happen. So I'm checking in with you guys to see if it's been accomplished.
Phone: Google Nexus S
OS Version: 2.3.2
Not roooted (But I don't think that matters cause I've installed Live Wallpapers without being rooted)
Really? No answers? I would have been sure that some of you would be interested as well. Or at least figured out a way by now.
I would be happy to try if someone gave me the apk.

Didn't work but I would try going to the sgs section and ask for the apks there.

I'm having trouble finding out how to install a theme to my newly rooted and 2.3 ROM'd phone, I don't understand what 7zip is, and/or where to place the .apk file in order to install it.
Help me out??
The easiest way to install themes will be by using some launchers like adw launcher.. Both the launcher and the themes are available in the market..

Sent from my A853 using XDA App
the same question .....
ya.. its the same.. u can get live wallpaper from the android market..
No, that's not what I mean, sorry my bad. I didn't properly explain. If I download a (.apk) that is NOT on market, but here on XDA, how do I put it on my phone as a live wallpaper?
Sent from my A853 using XDA App
I figured it out, I just needed to put the .apk file on my SD card and open it with ES File Explorer or any other file management app would have done, I'm sure... then make sure I was able to install apps from unknown sources and it worked. Now Running 2.3 iceandfire with droid2 theme, rooted and overclocked!! It's stupid how much faster it got.
wow.. cool
Thoughts on how soon we'll see this? Apparently it was announced today for Nexus S devices.

As soon as the nexus s gets it we should to. It should work on cyanogenmod. Since it uses proper api.

Hopefully the ffc camera quality isn't as crappy as the back one with CM. This sounds great though. Third party camera apps are hit or miss and the other user must have that app installed too. At least everyone has Google Talk on their phone

sweet. thanks for the link. gonna test it now. =)
In class but this should work.
Created a new folder called 'system' in c:\android-sdk\tools. Obtained the odexed framework folder and placed that in the system folder. Then created a folder called app in the system folder and placed the Google talk app and talk odex inside.
c:\android-sdk\tools\system\app
baksmali.jar -d ../framework -x talk2odex
This produced an out folder will all the decompiled .smali files etc. From there I was able to get to the Launcher.smali that i wanted, but to recompile to a classes.dex file you simply run the following command: smali.jar out
This produces an 'out.dex' that you can rename to 'classes.dex'
You would still have to push the correct libs as well. Let me know if it worked.

You can get the app to work. That's all this thread is about not installing the update.

i thought it was a just a simple as installing the .apk. sounds like you need to manually push all files via adb?
EDIT: straight installing the .apk doesnt work. just gets application not installed. gonna try root explorer method.
Yes or root explorer most likely work

makes sense. tried both methods and it failed me. hurray for nandroid backup.

Hey guys...
Thanks to despotovski01's thread "How to make your own bootanimation" and a little magic (thanks to the pre-release demo of Duke Nukem Forever), I was able to create something awesome... the DukeOS Bootanimation
I may borrow despotovski01's instructions (sorry pal)...
Root Explorer method:
1. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation.zip
2. Put it on your SD card
3. Open Root Explorer and copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media. This will replace the existing boot animation
4. Reboot your phone
ADB method:
1. Make sure you have downloaded android sdk
2. Put android sdk in C:\
3. Set the directory of command prompt to C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools. Click here for a video tutorial.
4. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation and put it in C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
5. Open cmd
6. Type in order:
-adb remount
-adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
-adb reboot
it is available in both lo-res (takes less space and loads way faster)
and hi res versions (seems to load faster? )
lo-res: http://www.multiupload.com/860L1GJE31
hi-res: http://www.multiupload.com/D9ON73WTG4
http://www.stilbruch.at/2011/06/bootanimation-dukeos-bootanimation-duke.html
preview:
I hope my dear friends from Gearbox software aren't mad at me for that... It is just another promotion for the awesome upcoming Duke Nukem Forever (10th July 2011 International, 14th July 2011 US)!
I don't own any of the rights on the graphics!
BTW: I think it would perfectly fit honeycomb
good bootani....thanks!!
This works good. Thank you.
I get a faster reboot when I use the hi-res boot animation. I like this.

You are using stock rom, have u root your Tab? If not, you will never have the chance to use this wonderful boot animation.
If u want to root, use Chainfire CF root which support the bootimation inside the /data/local/ this saveu more space in /system.

I suppose you could try changing the boot animation.zip to bootani.qmg, but I'd either change the old bootani.qmg file name to oldbootani.qmg or backup elsewhere in case it doesn't work.
Use root explorer to copy it to the place you need (it allows you to change permissions from R/O to R/W).
Easy...
Hmmm... I'm afraid to try it and get into a boot loop. CWM isn't playing nice and for some reason doesn't want to backup my current rom.
I also dont have a working comp to odin fix it if it does screw things up.
Dang it. I really want this bootup too!
Any other ideas guys? I this is my phone and tab all in one

Just drop the zip file into the media folder. Make sure the permissions match and I'm 90% sure the rom will just use it instead. At worst you be no better off if you follow but I'm sure it will work. Absolute system tools has a feature that does it all for you and has 100s of animations.
Sent from my GT-P1000
Just tried the absolute app. It's very cool but doesn't even see where the bootani is either.
Anyone know what the qmg file format is?

The high res seems to work on and off on my CM7 nightlies Evo4G. But the low res works without a problem. Both seemed to load about the same speed without any hesitations (when the high res would load). Nice work though, thanks for the work! I even like the fact it loads in landscape instead of portrait!

Same thing here, using stock Gingerbread.
place bootanimation.zip in /data/local/
set permissions and you're good...
Okay, so I have been able to get a bootanimation.zip that i want. I placed it in /data/local... I reboot and it still shows the old swirling Samsung logo...But it does play my custom boot sound (awesome)... I haven't really seen any SGS4G specific threads...and the ones to other phones kind of run me in circles. Not looking for a hand out, just a heading...any idea? Something im PROBABLY missing...
Oh and i gave the bootanimation.zip god privileges...not sure if it matters
Running on 2.3.5 KI3 from Octiane V2.0 (awesome ROM BTW)
at the moment our gingerbread kernels do not support custom boot animations. I'm sure once we have a source to work with, will have full support.

OK first try with this app. I rooted my girls stock gingerbread droidx (if u need help rooting it stock gb droid x u can email me.)then u can download root toolbox and they have a section for boot animation, select one u like and install it. with this app u can even change splash screen and battery icon but for icon u will need pro version. u can just go to ipmart and download it for gree. anyways..... if this does not work u will have to do it manually which may seem scary but its quite simple. first get the bootanimation.zip u want and rename it(if u r with verizon) VZW_bootanimation.zip then download super explorer and then go to ur phones internal system /custom/reasourses and first want to go to that location and copy past the original bootanimation of phone and save to soundcard incase u want to change back to it in system/customize/reasourses and delete ,it will be names VZW_bootanimation.zip. now the custom animation can be added. go copy the custom animation go back to system/customize/reasourses and paste new animation a boom it will work I promise. note if for some reason when u restart phone and no animation is there dont worry nothing is broken the animation isn't allay compatible so just find another on and follow all the steps again minus saving the boot u had added u can just delete it.. now what I desperetly need help with is adding custom sound. I have tried many different thing with no results but negative. ive tried deleting the old sound file and renamwd new sound as old one and placed in system/customize/reasourses no sound , I even went into system/customize/cd/default.xml and changes the writing that tells the system when to play music to autostart="part0" /> no go ,="part1" /> no go. neither worked. I even unzipped the bootanimation.zip and renamed the folder VZW and changed back autostart="VZW" ect which was the original setting and no go. ive tried renaming file and placing it in system/media and pasteing no go, ive tried copying file and pasteing it in system/meadia/notification like some direction have said and no go. im at a lose of what to do. I have a thunderbolt running stock gb and want to customize the sound for bootanimation so if anyone can help please email me [email protected]. thanku and I await ur response

Considering this is for the Samsung galaxy s 4g, you technically are in the wrong forum. Our phones use a qmg file for animations as far.as I know, so bootanimations.zip will not work, I've already tried the method you posted, without success.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
there's a few custom ones in the theme section. You just have to push all the files manually.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
then its quite simple just rename ur new bootanimation exactally as ur old one a boom there u go. its not that difficult and if that doesnt work try something simple and download romtoolbox and install if from therr. if it works on the droid x it should that one
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
also u probably not only have to name it correctly u may have to try androidzip and change it to that kind of file type if not that do so on ur computer. were Theres a will Theres a way. also make sure ur permissions r correct

I will try that. If the qmg file is truly a zip file with its own custom file extension, then it should work, if its not, then it will display nothing. I'll back up just in case, but I was told by a developer on this phone (I believe raver), that it wasn't supported by the kernel.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Let me know if that works, i'm out for a few days...I'll try when I get home. However, the second response to my post was that it's unsupported... But if there is a work around, that would be sweet.

hey rabid panda how did u get your custom boot sound to work thats what i am trying to do with mine but it doesnt play.
it's pretty easy, just take the wave file that you want to use and move it to /etc. rename it poweron.wav and reboot...all Done
you might want to make sure the permissions are set...I just checked all of mine.

Rename your wavfile to PowerOn.wav and push to system/etc
Make sure you name it exactly PowerOn.wav, matching the upper case P and O is necessary to make it work.
Edit:Got beat to the punch by a Rabid Panda lol
