Asus weather widget - stopped updating - Canada - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone in Canada (or outside) experiencing the same? Past 2 days it has been stuck, even manual refresh won't work. Possible problem with connection with Accuweather?
Another issue:
Now that I have a folio case my gps compass is always asking to the do a figure 8 which I refuse because it is silly and gay.

I don't know that my weather widget has ever really updated. I'm in Ohio. 95% of the time when I manually update it doesn't work either. Not sure what's wrong with it but I don't usually use it. This carried over from my old TF with a bad screen to my new one.

That's the problem with stock apps if there are changes made with the 3rd party source it takes an entire firmware change to correct the issue with the stock app. Wish they went thru market so fixes can be made on the fly. The problem of leaving it open is it is draining batt everytime it checks for an update and can't get thru.
I think there is a connection problem with Accuweather and for me this occured after 3.2. Oh, well I removed the app and went with Palmary.

Its really unfortunate that this widget sucks! It's a nice design (without having to buy Beau. Widgets, that most people seem to agree, as a lot of screen shot posts seem to have it.
Mine lags behind severely in updating, and when it does, it's inaccurate.

Anybody have issues with the Weather Widget not updating?

For some reason my Weather Widget doesnt update itself that often. Like earlier this morning it said it was clear, but with the moon, yet it was sunny out...LOL Any ideas?
Does it ever update? If not, check your Location settings. If it does, then sometimes you just have to wait for the connection. I've seen it take a while to get the update sometimes, but eventually if you're sitting on the home screen it should update if location settings are on and you have a data connection.
I was running totally stock last night. It told me it was sunny and clear and it was night time. It seems to be having issues.
Yea location is on. I just thought it was weird that its not updating all the time.
My HTC weather widget updates very sporadically throughout the day, however it does work.
Email HTC about this. The more people who tell them about it, the greater the chance we will see updates and fixes coming out.
I know these posts are old but i'm bored!
If you have a 'task manager' installed make sure it's not stopping these updating functions by default.

Moon in weather after 10am?

I had a weird problem this morning when the weather was still showing a moon after updating at 10:34am. It finally changed to a sun after I manually clicked on "Update Now". Anyone know where in the registry it tells Sense Touch what time to show Moon or Sun in the weather? It seems that my HD2 likes the moon much more than the sun..

It is normal, not issue. Look at the wheather of the next day at the time you updated.
it is not normal.
I noticed this too recently.
Normally (before), ~8am, after weather update, I get a Sun. Recent 1-2 weeks, I still get a moon after update at ~9 or 10am.
Of course, the app is normal, i think the weather source is abnormal.
Same issue with me. I though it might have been caused by installing the new AGPS hot-fix from the HTC website in Hong Kong.

That's definitely possible since I just added the AGPS hotfix yesterday.
i don't feel it is caused by AGPS. I noticed this before installing the AGPS fix.
BTW, I noticed we are all from HK. seems this is only affecting HK users.
Hello Guys,
It is not only HK...I faced this issue also and I am in Singapore.
I noticed this problem on the mobile off and on.
I just did an Update Now and it shows Singapore as Mostly Cloudy with the Sun in the background.
However, on My Location it shows Intermittent Clouds with the Moon in the background!
****!
James
I noticed the same thing again this morning... It updated at 9:45am and it still came back to display the moon instead of the sun...
possible only affecting GMT +8 (if not country specific)?
The weather source is from accuweather.com. Will check their web site tomorrow to see if it is caused by accuweather.
I m from Israel and I get the same thing for quite some time now. I thing the have an issue with their timezones database
It is AccuWeather.com problem. 9.13am HKT, it still displays moon (see attached picture).
Copied from another thread.
When you set up your HD2 after a hard reset, you may be tempted to disable the Google locations because the system warns you it my cause data costs. But if you disable it, your weather information will be wonky, including the midnight sun and noon-day moon.
I have cured this problem by re-setting with all the hot-fixes removed and enabling Google locations.
S
I recently just reset the phone enabling google location service but the problem is still there. I don't think that would account for so many people having the same problem.
Folk, did you disable the Google location service? It won't work properly without it.
As mentioned already its accuweather thats at fault. Its a crap service, always has been.

[Q] Circles Weather not updateing

I am wondering if anyone else has seen this. I have had my phone for over a month, and love it, normally DO NOT like widgets but I must say Circles is cool. So I have been running circle widget since I bought the phone, and have had no issue. One NIGHT about 10pm i unlocked my phone to see the weather in my area was SUNNY and 40. As I looked out the windows, I would say moony but not sunny. After further looking, I found that if I turned of use location in the weather settings, and put my city there, updating worked fine. I don't mind this, but I like the use location cause as I travel from place to place, I have a quick look at the weather for where I am as opposed to having to change cities. Any Thoughts? I hopped that the JB OTA might fix this, but it did not seem to.
I noticed my maxx hd doing this same exact thing a few days ago. It normally works great and updates very quickly but the last few days its been getting stuck for some reason. A few reboots seemed to straighten it out for now.
Sounds dumb, but try pulling that widget off your screen, and clearing app data/cache in app manager. Reboot, then put it back on. Sounds like it could be a cache error.

I was surprised to see the update available. It took a long time to long time to download, transfer, and install, so I would definitely recommend that your watch be in its charging station for the process.
At the end of the update here are the version numbers:
Tizen 2.3.2.7
Software Version: R730TUVU3DRC1
I haven't fully explored everything, but there's a lot I like:
Quick Access (pull down) has a lot more capabilities (including accessing Settings, Brightness, Do not DIsturb, Screen Always on). Unfortunately they seemed to have removed the music player. (Guess I'll have to add that widget back to my list).
Widget improvement: Multi-contact calling looks better, there are a lot of new Health Widgets including a multi-activity one in which 4 possible activities are presented on one screen for a easy selection and start-up, recent apps widget is really handy.
New apps: I tried the Samsung PPT controller, but it didn't work. (I'm on a Mac, so that might be why).
My big big concern at this point is battery life. It seems terrible. That maybe due to playing with lots of apps and then not doing a clear all, but if it keeps up, I may have to do a soft reset and see how things are. Right now, I'm guess the battery drain rate is 2 or 3 times what I usually have.

The Samsung Health too was update. Now the aplication alone of Samsung Health for iPhone support the Gear S2, and this is incrible!
I believe this Samsung abandoned the Gear S2, but I thinked wrong.
Can anyone speak if the run4gear work in Android Phones with Gear S2 in Tizen 2.3.2.7?
Mine says no new update available :/
I did the update this morning and it was successful. I see the new shortcuts widgets and updated health and weather apps. But I don't see the Powerpoint App anywhere. Is that something you have to download?
So swipe down now doesn't go to the previous screen. Am I right in thinking to get back to watchface you now need to use a button?

Yes , I think the update removed the swipe from top to go back feature. Need to use the side button to go back over you are inside of an app.
Anyone have the previous firmware for SM-R735T? I don't need anything the new update offers, just want the "back" gesture returned.
Habit dictates a swipe and I keep getting back the settings...... Will have to relearn.
Anyone else found this a nuisance?
Valiante try Sammobile....
Wouldn't it try to auto update if you re installed the previous firmware version, or could you turn it off at the Gear app 'phone settings?
Has anyone tried to flash this to a vzw watch or is that not possible and we have to wait and hope vzw puts out an update?
Verizon has updated there page for the new update but still have not received the update ota here's a link to page https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-gear-s2-classic-update/

Scratch that I just received the update for the Verizon gear s2
i'v also got the new update here in Chile...
awesome update guys.. new pulldown toogles, and a lot more... new icon and new apk's
now we have samsung app store in the gear...
good job samsung gear department..
I was really excited to get the update. After the previous update, watch does this really annoying thing where it lights up the room when its done charging at night. Some times it will stop charging, drain a little, start charging again, and then light up the room a second time.
Well that hasn't been fixed. Now my watch battery is draining incredibly fast. I had to turn off always on watch faces and it's still draining at least twice as fast as it used to. Its been off the charger for an hour and it's already down to 85%.
I really miss the swipe down to go back. I don't need quick settings on every app. I hardly ever used it as it was. Speaking of which, most of the quick settings don't even do anything for some reason.
Really disappointed.
For me with the new update, I can't anymore answer to a whatsapp message direcly on the watch ! I can only use a button to open whatsapp on my phone !
Do you have the same thing ?

I got a second one a Verizon model and bassiy have to have all extra features off. And weird stuff is happening on it
I spent 10 hours yesterday dropped to about 75% I found download mode and was gonna play around. But that was the first reboot. And upon reboot batt was at 15% I'm like what the heck so I through it on charge am gonna swap it back out with the orig AT&T model I got first.
I haven't found the setting to manually set step target with the new update. My alarms stopped working so I had to do a factory reset to get them to work. Now I can't change my step target on the watch. This is how I used to do it:
1. Open Samsung Health
2. Go to very right/bottom and select Settings
3. Select "Adjust Step Target." This selection no longer exists.
I looked in just about every possible setting in Samsung Health and the device settings. I've tapped and long pressed on every possible data point on every possible screen for a hidden menu. It's nowhere.
I reached out to Sammobile 2 times.
- The first time I received instructions for doing this on the Gear Fit 2 Pro. #fml
- The second time I was told to factory reset everything, which I had already done. #fml
It's annoying that manually setting the step target on the Samsung Health app doesn't sync with the watch. But that's another topic.

Oh wow... I have the T-Mobile version, I don't have a plan for it so I was surprised to get an update but yeah I'm down to 47% right now and I should be in the 70/80 by this time. I closed all the apps and that seemed to help a bit but when you have a few apps open it seemed like it was draining quick...
I'm gonna do a reboot once I get home hopefully that'll help. If it doesn't do the trick that's something they're gonna have to fix.

Nice!!! ?
How do you still have warranty? Where did you buy it from?

Do you have the same "bugs"?

So I have had my Honor View 10 just over a month now. Overall I really like it. However, there are a few minor bugs(?) that I am finding quite annoying, but have not seen any other mention of them. Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced any of these? And if so, how have you managed to overcome them?
1) Home screen widgets not updating
So I am using Nova launcher, as I have done for quite some time before getting this phone. One problem that I have found is that my widgets are not updating. E.g. Keep list still shows items that have been ticked off and Agenda Widget won't clear past days and bring in extra days as they fall into the 30 day window. I don't know if this is specifically an issue with Nova or other 3rd party launchers on this device, or if this happens on the stock launcher too. I have set all the related apps, including everything Nova, to be manually manged in the battery launch options, but have seen no improvement. I only seem to be able to force them to update by either removing and replacing the widgets or by restarting the phone.
2) Wallpaper not updating
I use Muzei with a Bing daily wallpaper plugin to change my wallpaper daily. Well, that was the plan anyway. Occasionally it will change automatically, but many days it will not and I have to force it manually. Again, I have set the launch options for Muzei and the plugin to be manually managed, but with no change.
3) Bluetooth loses music control ability
I use my phone to listen to music via bluetooth to my car stereo. The audio has never failed, but what frequently happens is that I will lose the ability to control the music from the bluetooth device. I.e. pause, play and skip tracks. When this happens I have to reboot my phone to get that function back. How long it takes for this to happen varies. Can be after just a day or after several days. I have experimented with changing how I disconnect from the bluetooth device, but this has no impact. Also, I occasionally get the audio breaking up, so that it sounds like a skipping CD.
I feel like there is something else that I am forgetting, so will post when/if I remember.
Thanks.
I use Nova too. Some widgets get (most of the time) updated, others not.
When I restart Nova (by the settings in the app), updates works for a unspecified amount of time.
I think this is a downside of the not (really) manageable Ram/Battery management from Emui8.
Also Google Fit is not usable for tracking a path. It looses the GPS access a couple minutes after the screen turn off. Only with the locus app im able to do tracking.
If there is no solution for this, I have to buy an other phone :crying:
Widgets not updating appears to be an EMUI thing - I had a Mate 10 before this phone and had exactly the same issue.
Thanks both. I did eventually find the following thread (funnily enough in the Mate 10 forum)... https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/help/widgets-stop-updating-t3703572
As I have no other need to root my phone, I don't really fancy doing so in order to freeze the system process that some have had success with. It was highlighted that this appears to specifically be an issue with scrolling widgets within EMUI 8, which seems to fit with my experience, and is also apparently present in the stock launcher. I have for now switched Nova to auto rotate, as then rotating the home screen appears to refresh all widgets. Bit of a rubbish workaround, but does work.
I haven't got any further with the daily wallpaper issue, and currently have to manually update.
The issue that I couldn't remember before is that when sending SMS via MightyText the sent SMS doesn't appear on my phone. However, this appears to be a problem across all recent EMUI devices for which there doesn't appear to be any reasonable fix. Let's hope Google hurries up with adding web messaging to their Messages app, and then that can become my default SMS app.
Is there any official Huawei/Honor community where we, their customers, can log bug fix requests?
I have the widget update problem. It's a right pain for the news ones I mainly use. Tried auto rotate in Nova on BBC Sport and that didn't work. The update icon/button gets stuck, constantly swirling.
If I keep the phone I'll probably root since, looking at other Huawei phone's threads, my confidence in them fixing it any time soon is pretty low.
As I've had this issue on the Mate 10 as well - this is an annoying issue that Huawei don't seem to want to fix.
I've also noted a silly amount of permission setting (in some really random places) so allow things to run in the background. It can be in more than one place. I don't know what the Chinese obsession with background app killing is, but this means my phone often doesn't tell me I have messages or emails until I unlock it. My bluetooth trackers and Huawei Watch don't sync.
Might be time to move to a Xiaomi or Oneplus.

TBH you might go from one set of annoyances to another with these brands. All OEMs seem too busy adding gimmicky features rather than concentrating on getting the basics right. You can get more bog standard than properly working widgets!
Huawei seem to have (unnecessarily) doubled down on Android's battery optimisations and permissions. From what was some years ago a bit of a Wild West in these areas, it's now gone far to far the other way.
I had an OP5T for a few days, loved it but OLED screen gave my eyes/head grief. So anything OLED is probably a no-no for me.
G6 I had briefly last year, just didn't get on with it and the screen had really uneven brightness. LG seem incapable of getting phones right these days.
Anyway, I'll persist for now. I'm happy to root just for AdAway and Titanium Pro.
After having the phone a few weeks now, I can say I've had the same bluetooth issues as the OP. I use Muzecast as a personal music server and randomly lose the ability to pause while on speakers. NB - volume continues to work fine.
Heard the mini skips or glitches too, infrequent but noticeable.
