Where did you get it from and how much did it cost?
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using Tapatalk

Local dealer sold it me, I considered offering people send me their phone for me to s-off for a very small fee but I assume its against forum rules!

Ah ok. hope the looting and riots settle down quickly over there..
That clip is expensive I need to find someone from the same area to share the cost with me

It's quiet where I am, don't think they're organised enough round here! But thanks

or just wait for the unlock bootloader tool

I think in the begining it will be available just for the Evo and Sensation. But who knows, hopes are high also for the ChaCha.

any one from chennai, india have xtc clip?

When i ask hTC about the unlock bootloader for hTC ChaCha a810e.
This is what they replied me:
Thank you for contacting HTC.
With reference to your query, sorry we're not informed of this information at the moment. I'd like to show you some ways to free some memory, maybe this can temporarily help you:
1. Clear the Cache of Large Apps
By clearing the cache that some applications use, you can reclaim quite a few megabytes, at least temporarily.
Go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications on your Android.
Press the Menu button and select the Sort by size option. To check if an application has a cache, select it in the list and it will be stated on the resulting screen. To clear a cache, simply press the Clear cache button.
A couple of apps that may have a cache of several MB are Maps, Market, Internet and Gallery (called Photos on some devices).
From the Application info screen you may also clear an app’s data. This will not only clear the cache, but also all the data the app has generated. Basically, you’re “hardresetting” the app. For example, I reclaimed 2MB by erasing the data for Media Storage. It forced my Gallery app to locate all my pictures again, but the associated data for Media Storage was still much smaller in size than before I cleared it.
2. Move some third party applications from phone memory to phone SD card.
But be reminded not all of the third party applications can be moveable. It requires 3r party programs themselves to be moveable to SD card.
To do that, on the phone, you may go to the Home Screen->press Menu button->Settings->Applications->Manage applications->on the "Download" page, enter the third party application and press the button "Move to SD card" to tranfer applications from phone memory to SD card.
If you find that the button "Move to SD card" is grey, that means the software itself does not support to be movealbe to SD card.
3. Remove some data less important.
You may try to delete some SMS, emails, etc which are less important since for these data, they are also stored on your phone internal storage
Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
We look forward to be of service to you again.

so don't put up too much hope for it....

You should use the HTCdev.com site, go to the bootloader page and use the options there ("tell us what you want" or something like that). And submit ChaCha. The more, the better. They have a long list of phones so it will take some time otherwise.

i've tried but no reply at all lols... can't wait anymore have just proceed to purchase xtc clip lols...

There is no reply from HTCDev.com. But you'll spam the hell out of their databases and emails with HTC ChaCha subjects
If we get them annoyed enough to unlock our bootloaders then we have succeeded. *evilgrin*

S-off and rooted with the XTC-clip.
Took less then 3 minutes and was the easiest phone to date I have done. I'm in Germany if anybody needs it done or would like to purchase it from me. PM me and let me know.
The more people with S-off means more activity in the Dev forum.

I'll S-off anybody's HTC Status or ChaCha for free for any XDA members in Missouri, provided you're willing to come to me. Luckily I'm located in mid-Missouri so no one should have terribly far to go.

[Q] Sensation box date for S-Off?

I remember a T-Mobile employee mentioning that he opened a Sensation box and discovered it to be S-Off. The date on the box was 5-18-2011. The recovery screen listed a date of 5-13-2011. For everyone who has already gotten their phone:
If you have S-Off - Please post your box/recovery dates
If you have a box date of 5-18 - Please post your recovery date and if your phone is S-Off or S-On
If you have a recovery date of 5-13 - Please post your box date and if you have S-Off or S-On
I just thought with the release at T-Mobile stores tomorrow it would be very helpful to people like me who will be waiting outside for the store to open to have a good idea if it will be S-Off or S-On based on the box date. I tried to include all scenarios that replicate the discovered S-Off to find the best way to estimate.
I am not sure if this would be a correct assumption as each date could have a S-On / S-Off variant. I have yet to see any correlation between date and S-Off.

I know it is not going to be [insert date] = S-off but if it can be narrowed down to a point where there is a higher probability that a certain date will be S-off it's still better than nothing. Oh, and in addition, how big of a fuss would the salespeople make with a request to open it up and boot into recovery before committing to a purchase?

I know in the UK I can mess around with a phone before I buy it. I just ask to take a look at a phone, boot it into recovery/fastboot/whatever and check S-ON, S-OFF, or whatever I need to check The sales people don't really know what I'm doing, but they don't care if I want an S-OFF or w/e version. Most of the time, they just want to make a sale. If me making sure I get an S-off phone gets a sale, they'll do it. It's the exec's that care about that kind of thing.
No idea if rules are different in the US though
I doubt this has any correlation, but my first sensations default ringtone or the one that it was set on from the factory was the HTC ringtone, which I returned because of touch screen issues, but my second sensations default ringtone is the tmobile jingle. I never checked the first one but this one is S-ON.

So you're saying we shouldn't invite people to check their phones to see if they are S-OFF and post it here because one guy posted in the development forum that he has S-OFF? How does that make sense?
I would not expected to be able to open the box at all before you buy it in the store at launch. The salesman will likely say no and just sell it to the person standing behind you.
If you want to try and open boxes you should wait until the initial rush dies down, you will have a much better chance of getting someone to let you do that once the stores are not worried about selling out.

Will native email from ICS work on Gingerbread?

As anyone who uses IMAP on a Gingerbread or earlier ROM will tell you, mail sent from the phone is NOT synchronized to the server, completely contrary to the intent of that protocol. Might as well be using POP instead.
It looks like that problem has been solved with ICS. I was wondering if its possible to somehow get the native ICS mail app installed on an earlier ROM, and if so, how one might go about doing so.

My email syncs to my IMAP work account, I just had to setup a second sent items folder. Email I send from my laptop goes to one sent items, from my phone to a different one. Well I didn't set it up my IT dept did but there is a way to do it.

Nope. I think you're mistaken. Messages sent from the handset are stored on the machine, and are not uploaded to the server. This is a known Android big which has been fixed in ICS, but is still a problem for earlier versions.
If you are in fact correct, then it sounds like your IT department might have found a workaround. Speak with them and confirm Can you ask them what they did?

Here is the answer. IMAP saves sent items in an inbox.sent folder and outlook saves sent items in a sent items folder. Usually only one of these is selected in the folder options.
Go to your outlook (I assume you use outlook) and go to Tools, Account Settings, double click on the email account, select the folders tab and look for sent items and sent folders. One will be checked and the other will not be. Add a check to whichever is not checked so both are selected, you should be done. Hope this helps.

Here's where I think you're mistaken.
Android versions prior to ICS do NOT save outgoing messages to the server through the native email app. This is a known problem. Check the below post for my comments, and google 'android not saving IMAP sent' or terms similar, and you'll see what I mean.

It's not pointless for those of us who have the problem, unless you're suggesting that all the people in these threads are suffering from the same mass delusion. I think I've had about enough of your attitude.
You have no technical background yourself, you tell me that your IT department did 'something' to make it work and then have the temerity to suggest I'm either too ignorant or too lazy to try your idea. Obviously I've been through all your 'suggestions' otherwise I wouldn't have posted the links which YOU obviously haven't bothered looking at yourself.
This is a known Android problem and if you can't help answer the question about how to get the ICS native email app to function properly on a Gingerbread ROM, then please spare me any of your further inane posts.
Wow! Sorry to but in but the forums are a little slow and I am bored. Just had ankle surgery and few inches of snow on the ground has me stuck inside. Seems your anger needs directed at the android OS and not him.

Wow. Seems everyone is an analyst today.
Ok, here's the point.
His solution is NOT workable. Not on this ROM or handset, at least, and there's ample evidence provided to that end.
When someone doesn't read the post to apprehend the problem, answers a question that isn't asked, makes assumptions about what you've tried or not tried, offers tips that are not germane to the question (IMAP sent items not synchronizing to the server from Android has nothing to do with Outlook configuration) and then uses the words "this is pointless" and subsequently "look, I told you the answer" when given specific links to research the problem, then THAT'S where the attitude is. And I'll thank YOU to please not exacerbate the situation.
That said, hope your ankle is feeling better... it gives you a great reason to not have to shovel the snow. ;-)
Have you tried that K-9 email application? I know we shouldn't have to have another 3rd party app to do what stock should but from I seen in my searching it does what you want. Also gives your battery some exercise too. Gets good reviews and it is free.

I agree with your point. Actually, I've been using Enhanced Email which is quite nice, but has some shortcomings. The native app, given its tight integration with the OS and more robust synchronization settings, would likely be the better choice. That's why I've been on a search to find a fix for the native app, or find a way to 'port' the new (properly functioning) native Email app from ICS to Gingerbread.
Gotcha! Keep your fingers crossed as you never know what might happen on XDA. Just yesterday I finally updated to a new 2.3.5 ROM from the WCX Illuminati Series. I was using an almost stock version of 2.3.3 from Juicy. But evidentally this new ROM supports the MAP bluetooth protocol. So now my text messages and possibly my emails may be seen on my truck Headunit when they come in. Haven't tried it yet for obvious reasons though.

[Q] HTC Locations

Probably a complete noob question but I'll ask anyway.
The trial period on Locations has just expired on my new Sensation XE and every time I put the phone in the car cradle it attempts to start it. Of course after checking for a licence it comes up with the buy licence screen which is really annoying and a waste of time.
Can I simply uninstall locations & if so will it then default to Google maps & navigation?
Whats everone's favorite for a car mode system?
Thanks in advance.

This, or you could use Titanium Backup.
Filter so it only shows 'system' apps and it should be there.
Thanks guys,
epsix, whats soff and root?
k0zmic, I'll install titanium & try it that way cheers.
By the way as Locations is provided as a trial version whats the "official" answer to this if you don't want to buy the app, surely htc don't expect us to have a defunct piece of software popup every time we use the phone?
So spoke to HTC yesterday and it seems that yes they do expect us to put up with the buy licence nag screen when using the car cradle. Apparently there is no way to say no to buying a licence once & for all
Locations itself still works & the navigation package still works you just have to cancel the nag screen & start again manually. Of course you loose the car panel & premium navigation but as I couldn't really tell much difference between them that's no loss.
Have installed EVA & Vlingo & will see which one I prefer before deleting Locations.
Pity, that's the first negative I've found since moving to Android from Windows.

Removing virtual menu button?

Hey guys,
I know it's possible to remove the on-screen menu button but is there a way to do it without rooting? I'm deciding between the Samsung Galaxy SII, Sony Xperia S and HTC One S. I have 2 main problem's with the One S: only 16GB of storage, and the virtual menu button.
I can't root it because it will void the warrranty, will it? And since there is some bug that will render the button even when in YouTube or Google Reader...it's annoying.
Can I remove it and should I got with the HTC One S's 16GB of storage, go with the Sony Xperia S, or wait if Samsung will update the Galaxy SII to Jelly Bean?
One s. Drop box is a descent solution. I encourage rooting. As software issues should be an easy fix for root users. Hardware... If the phone is lost stolen or broken. They won't even notice the tampering but that's no guarantee. One s is a fast, thin, well designed, fully equipped device and the price is nothing too crazy. Most roms remove the three dot menu in exchange for using recents as menu and long press home for recents

HTC never stated hardware issues are off warranty if you unlock bootloader that I'm aware of. Not sure what samsung thinks of warranty claims on rooted stuff either. Anyways as for the software you'll be better helped on xda I think. You can also autosync images and videos to a private album on Google+/Picasa, this can be set up to only happen on WIFI.
Oh btw I don't have the 3 dot menu in YouTube, or reader. Damn I should be paid by HTC for downloading reader to check that for you

But my school has weird WiFi encryption that will disable a phone to connect to it automatically when it's available. You have to go to the browser and a website will show up that will ask you for ur name and password. If you won't enter, it won't let you use internet even outside of the browser. So what's the point of having my photos and videos with me only at home or some occasional WiFi downtown?
And another thing that bugs me are games. In the Playstore it won't tell you the size of a game unless the author didn't put it in the descripiton and some games have even 2GB! I love playing many games on my phone so...that would be another problem.

Thanks, I quess that an update fixed that issue, but most games have the virtual menu button on the One S (atleast on YouTube videos) and it takes up about 10% of the screen.
If there weren't those 2 major cons of the HTC One S, I would have it already, but I can't decide between those 3 phones...does someone know if the SGSII will get Jelly Bean officially from Samsung? Same for the Xperia S?

I hope that someone knows how to fix it and thanks for the help.
"I can see how the text starting on the other side of the screen would be quite the problem. I would be glad to address this with you. In regards to this, many settings of the phone are set to what region they were manufactured for. I took one of our test One S phones and there isn't a setting in the app to change the text orientation. As a workaround for this, I'd suggest trying a third party app from Google Play store. I'd like for you to give this a shot, and if you have any further problems then let me know. In the meanwhile, I hope you have a great day!"
This is the answer I got from HTC when I told them about the problem, does any one know such app?

I know you are not rooted
If it is only the notes app can you somehow uninstall/delete it and re install it or another note app from market
I rooted my phone same day I bought it, so am not familiar on how to do that stuff on non-rooted phones
There is no way to uninstall it using the normal uninstallation methods and I have not found a way to download it again. I would gladly download a diff notes app however I cannot find a semidecent one that I like

Evernote.

Agreed Evermore is great. Perfect sync from pc to phone.
Hahaha! Sorry, but that's got to be so annoying it's hilarious.
Try Evernote. HTC Notes actually syncs with Evernote anyways, which is why it asks for you to login when you turn it on for the first time. Great app, has all the features of stock Notes + a lot more.

help!
Hi all, this is my first post in here so plz bear with me if i sound like such a newb.. so i got my HTC one S last week, after being totally bored with 4yrs of iOS.. i gotta say everythin is great.. except for the crappy Calendar, no iOS-style shake to Undo, and this little issue with Notes: it also insists on typing English characters from right to Left! Needless to say this is frustrating for sum1 who uses Notes multiple times a day.. and such a disappointment for an -almost- flawless device & OS.. No i do not think downloading a third-party application, or rooting the device is worth the hassle because i am not trying to locate a star in space, i just wanna type sum text for god's sake! come on there has to be a solution to this.. Furthermore, the iPhone 5 is coming out soon.. just sayin.. FYI i also got my device from Saudi, running ICS 4.0.3 + HTC Sense 4.0.. Cheers

Run a WWE RUU. Why did you talk about the iPhone 5? It has no relevance. The problem is where you bought the device from, which is Saudi Arabia. Arabic writes from right to left, which is why you should buy it from another country if you're from a different country.
A new rom

To tell the truth, i didn't face this problem on my EVO 3D before. . . But it started when I installed the stock rom made for middle East and updated to ICS. . . I don't know but I believe if you flashed a none Middle East rom you'll get it fixed. . .
