[Q] Always Sync'ing ? - HTC Sensation

Okay so I have leedroid 1.1 and i have also had this problem with Android Revolution 1.1.3.
It seems as my phone is always sync'ing all the time ! the little sync icon on top is always there. I even go into Accounts and click on each account I have and none of them are sync'ing but the icon is always there....my heavy battery loss also supports my paranoia. I have everything syn'ing every two hours besides mail (1hr). Only thing that is push is HTC Hub.
Any Help?

Yep, noticed that too and that is why i returned back to stock. It seems each one of these roms all like sense. I wish the devs could just create one with sense and one without.

Had the same with stock rom till i got coredroid rom.

i have this issue with stock rom. i turned off auto sync, and clicked the sync all, and then again to cancel sync.

Had an issue like this on my MyTouch 4G not sure if its the same problem for you or not but mine was caused by deleting the FriendStream app

I think i found the problem !
I was using Advanced Task Killer by rechild with autokill on crazy and autokill on screen off. Once i uninstalled and put back my original Taskiller by ax my battery litterally halted and i only get the sync icon once in a while...when it is actually sync'ing !

Microsoft Exchange on ICS

I see this mentioned in various posts...but can we get a single thread started where we address this issue if it hasn't been addressed already. I need this working for me bad! I noticed some have gone back to Gingerbread...which I will more than likely do but I dislike Gingerbread! I'd rather stay with ICS only if I can get MS Exchange working. It prompts me to invoke security settings but takes me to storage settings???? I have seen where someone even went threw this but it still did not work. I still get the constant bubble at the top of my phone stating that MS Exchange is unable to sync because security settings haven't been enabled. With Gingerbread all you had to do was hit activate then put a pin in and wow your done....with ICS it does not do this...
I run ICS AOSP on my HD2 and it syncs with our Exchange server perfectly. What's the problem?

1. Wrong AREA to post
2. You're using a beta rom, so go back to GB
3. Use a different client in ICS
What do you recommend me using. Aren't they all BETA's?
I use stock email from ics and push mail working good with HTML support.
I have an HTC Sensation and I cannot get it to sync on a fresh flash. Using ICS Stock email
InsertCoin 4.1.1 Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 – Full Rom
Works flawlessly with Exchange Sync to what I believe is version 2010
/olme
The issue is with the HTC Sense 3.5 email client. I heard the native ICS email client works.
I have used the built in client in this version of ICS as well as the Sense 3.5 client both with ICS and GB. I have no problems with syncing with a Exchange 2010 server.
On some setups I found the activation screen for the Exchange security flew by quickly after I gave the entry a name..It showed up in the notification tray so I was able to roll down the notification click on the entry and activate it. I suspect if you reboot before activating you might be toast.
If you still are having problems try Touchdown for Smartphones..I found it works very well..in some ways it has better features than the built in client. Worth the 20 bucks.

I should have said I am currently using Megadroid ICS 4.0.3 v 1.4.2
Storage encryption.
Hello,
Mine works. I had to tick the storage encryption.
Beware though.
Enabling encryption on the SD card will WIPE ALL the data on the card without any notice (as far as I remember).
Make a backup of your SD card prior to encrypting.
Should you go back to GB for any reason, you will have to un-encrypt the SD card and that will wipe the card too!
Cheers.

I had an issue with exchange, setup went well to the point to activate securety settings.
it just stopped there and would not activate.
i found out that due to extensive flashing i had used up the max numer of devices on exchange server. Luckely i have my on exchange server so i could reset the device amount.
When this was done the setup went like normal.
Exchange settings don't stick for long
Hi, I too use Exchange on ICS and have had no real issues except this one:
I change the default sync settings from 15mins/1hour to push/manual. Frequently this resets again to the default settings.
Anyone know why this is?
Can I tweak an ini file or is something else causing this?
Hope someone can help as it is becoming quite irritating.
This problem only happens with Hotmail/Live Mail. But you have a point, it's quite annoying. And you can't set it to HTML! This option is greyed out.

Hi, a suggestion for you!
And maybe op and others to try
I also had sync issues with ICS and Sense 3.5/6 and 4, they always reverted back to 15 min, 5kb etc.
But surprise surprise! Baadnewz's Sense 4 beta10 includes a fix for this!!!
I can set options like sync every hour, full message download and they stick!
Even upon reboot
Finally HTC became aware of the issue (and did something about it), maybe it solves issues for op as wel..

Exchange Server 2010 (14.01.0339.001)
ARHD 6.5.2 XE, kernel SebastianFM v1.30.2 - 1782 MHz
Default email client works perfectly fine. Push email works, limit set to 5kb by default, format HTML. Settings presist through a reboot. Contacts/mail/tasks/calendar are in sync, no problems.
6.5.2 was installed for the 1-st time. I had stock rom/kernel/radio. So you might want to try perform a super-wipe, flash ROM again and install the latest kernel. Also to help you pinpoint the issue, logs from the gateway and the device would help i guess. Exchange ActiveSync is quite weird sometimes, worce is only RPCoHTTP, heh.
EDIT: Also after preforming a clean install of the system, don't restore anything from backup. Test if it works in default configuration. I ran into a few problems after restoring settings from titanium backup.

[Q] I discovered a bug? Clock out of sync with wifi.

Hi everyone,
I guess I. Have discovered a bug.
First I fought it is a bug on insertion 5.4.1 then I have full wiped and flashed ARHD 6.5.1. When I'm associated to wireless and leave my phone in standby the clock is getting out of sync. I've tried several tests to reproduce the out of sync. Im using Leedroid tweaks v4 lite with ultrasmooth Rosie applied. But it has nothing to do with rosie either. I can reproduce the problem on stock rosie too. On mobile data the problem does not happen only on wifi. It is happening on both roms so maybe it is a bug in the base? You need to leave your phone to sleep for a few minutes and unlock and check the clock accuracy. If the screen stays on and you are using it, it will not happen.
Firmware 3.32
Can someone test and confirm this please?
You mean when you come out of standby, and the clock flips? That's a "feature" of Sense. It's to show that its pretty.

No my friend, I mean the system time/clock is not accurate anymore it is behind the actual time. Not that simple
Make a screenshot please
It's probably a bug in the new base. I've noticed my time falling behind and I have mobile data always on.
I ended up syncing time with network once, then unchecking the network sync to let the internal clock handle the timing. Lame workaround, but it's all I could think of for now.
Current setup is InsertCoin 5.1.1, 3.32 firmware, manually desensed, newest radio and RIL, tmous network.

No LeeDroid tweaks or Rosie mods here. Well, no Rosie period haha.

How can I show you this problem with a screen shot lol You wouldn't be able to know that the clock/time is out of sync. If I will have time I will post a video there you could see it.
Did you tried to reproduce this on your phone?
Regards...

Hi rawrfische,
I've used that workaround earlier too, thxs for sharing anyway.
I just wanted to let others know about this problem, maybe dev's and/or HTC (which is watching this forums like any other vendor) can make a fix out of it.
A Question on your edit; did you mean you were using Leedroid tweaks as well and get rid of it and the issue was gone? Or did you mean that in your opinion this has nothing to do with it?
Thanks again..
Update on issue;
This is not happening on all wireless network. I'm using a cable connection at home and somehow it is related to this type of Modem.
Another workarround is to change the wireless sleep profile to "When scrren off" so the clock will sync to the correct time when the device is in sleep as it will be disconnected from wifi. Maybe this will help others with this kind of strange behavior on some sort of Wi-Fi Modems.
I've been having the same problem, the total offset for a day can get as high as 10 minutes!!!!
Same problem o Darkforest and Leedroid ROM's, now I've installed an app called ClockSync an set to sync every hour, the average offset per hour is 20secs.
Actually this thing is very annoying, hope it gets fixed on new releases.

Exchange profile randomly disappearing...

Does anyone else have the problem of their Exchange/ActiveSync profile just randomly disappearing? It's happened 4 times now. Driving me crazy. Any advise? I can set it down and pick it up 15 minutes later and the profile is gone!
I'm running a stock/non-rooted GT6800 w/ an AT&T SIM. My exchange server is 2010. Everything works perfectly when the profile is there.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Honestly I wouldn't care, but most of my contacts are in Exchange and when I lose the profile, I have to re-enter some of the contact info in the phone that exchange doesn't save (Ringtone, etc.)
-TheFixer
Same happens to me. I thought I've done something wrong. But obviously it was not me but Samsung...
Don't know how to solve it other than using another Exchange app or wait until Q3 for the ICS update...
I'm running Tweaked Stock ROM V3 and I only sync mail, no contacts or calender and I've never lost any info or had any trouble? I'm connected to SBS2003.
Having the same issue. I've had my Tab 10 days now and during that time my activesync account has disappeared 3 times now. Have no idea yet what's causing it to happen.
I ended up just using the Touchdown app instead of the built in exchange client.

I have not had the problem going since going to ICS with exchange. you have lots of choices on which ROM version to install. the instructions on this site are excellent and should be followed to eliminate problems when you upgrade. hope all goes well.
Same issue with mine.
Mine is rooted with stock rom (3.2).
My exchange account stops working after around 2-3 weeks. It tells me it is something to do with a security certificate.
I then have to remove it and re-enter everything again to get it back
Kind of same issue for me under ICS. It sometimes loses all the Exchange information (Contacts, emails, etc...) and then redownloads everything
Needless to say it is costly in battery life and bandwidth use
That seriously pisses me off, since I had similar problems with my Samsung original Tab 7 !!!! Unbelievable they haven't improved since
Only way onmy Tab for me to ahve something working decently was imply to switch to CM...

Android battery issues. Any device.

Hello,
I have 4500+ contacts and 3600+ SMS.
When phone receives those contacts its battery instantly is starting to drain like crazy. I'm talking about 6 hours max in standby mode. SMS adds more to drainage, but not significant.
This is not device specific as those contacts have been on: HTC HD2, Galaxy S2, HTC One X, HTC Sensation XL and few more, but only android devices. Various roms on all devices except sensation.
Stock firmware had same issue.
Latest test was on HD2 (Nexus HD2 HWA rom, ver 2.3):
~300 contacts; 0 SMS; Exchange service; GPS, for about an hour; calls didn't exceed 2 hours, I think it's somewhere around hour actually.
8 to 20:00 without charging I had 30% left on battery.
4500 contacts and battery was at 20% mark at ~12:00
Anyone got something to say about this? Not having those contacts is not an option. Device that needs to work properly with those contacts is One X.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Thank you.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that contacts do not get synced at all. Last test was admitted by offline importing them with all syncs off, even e-mail.
Also I can't post in android general.
Have you ran a battery monitor app to see what exactly is using the battery?
I would suggest that you are making unreasonable demands of the phone - if 4500 contacts is causing it to have to work too hard - probably constantly syncronising - then you will probably have no choice but to change the way you do things.

Badass battery didn't show anything extraordinary. Tried without any synchronization, offline importing contacts.
I have really tested this theory of contacts draining battery so I'm certain it's only that.

Hi,
I was inspecting the similar problem and made some research at.
The problem is not in Android or the number of contacts, but the mail app that has a long time known bug which cause the battery drain.
If you are using just Gmail there are not problems.
Problematic app is corporate mail app which comes with the system.
Solutions:
1. Try to use some alternative corporate mail app from Google Play.
2. Export all contacts from corporate account to you Google account and use Gmail.
android phone is the costs of electricity
Simply sounds like you're syncing a lot of data a lot of the time. There's nothing that's magically going to save your battery if you're taxing it like that.

Hi,
I was expecting the same problem and found that it is related to usage of Exchange service (Corporate email account).
The bug was reported multiple times:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=30503
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253583
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9307
They say that the problem was fixed, but when I checked the last time - it still exists.
Thank you for your answers.
Nothing to do with exchange or sync.
First, my HD2 lives on one charge 16+ hours with corporate account and syncs.
Please read this carefully.
Last test on HD2 was done with offline importing contacts, without any sync.
Without corporate account. Without any apps downloaded. Without WiFi on. Without BT on. Nothing, really nothing. Just contacts and google account with sync off (Just because stupid thing did't allow me to import contacts without it)
That is all.
btw, we have 500+ android devices and all of them run exchange service and none have reported battery issues. I got 2 android phones and none of them ever experienced battery drain from exchange and yet they just die when I put all those contacts.
Once again: I assure you that issue has nothing to do with exchange a.k.a. corporate account, as tests have been done without those in any form.
Woah dude. I'd say, you have far too many contacts and SMS. Lol. I think it has something to do with the syncing process? It will sure drain your battery like crazy if you're syncing thousands of contacts and messages.

No sync after radio update

My adventures with the HTC One S just dont seem to end. Here is a short history:
First thing I did when I got the phone was flash over CM9 as I dont like Sense
All was good until the home button issue popped up, this was at that time my only issue and sync worked just fine
I flashed over CM10 when it was stable enough, this didnt fix the home button issue though
I then flashed over the new RUU with radio 2.21 and directly after that CM10 again (I still dont like Sense)
After the first flash I had a lot of grey signal bars (either bad signal or no connection with Google servers) so I flashed CM10 again.
The signal bars where blue after that and the new radio (2.21) has improved the signal a lot and therefor minimizing the home button issue
But since the new radio I'm experiencing a new problem, just as much annoying. My phone wont sync when the screen is off or wont sync at all unless I do it manually.
This is what I have tried so far:
First cleaned cache from Gmail, Google Services Framework and Market -> no fix
Rebooted the phone with airplane mode on and enabling data connection afterwards -> no fix
Factory reset from recovery, flash CM10 again and restore apps with TB -> no fix
Factory reset from recovery, flash CM10 again and no restore of apps but just vanilla CM10 -> no fix
I have ran out of options so I could use some help here. Why are emails not pushed to my phone when the screen is off?
I had all kinds of sync issues with that radio until I flashed Trickdroid 7.1 which is built off the base which included that radio. Can't figure out how, but it's like they work best together though my best guess is that TD just maintains more free memory, so whatever process syncs the phone doesn't get killed. You can even desense TD as part of the tweak pack if you want to try it

Hmmm ... thanx for this info. I hoped the problem was not related to the radio and I missed something stupid. When I have some time I'll make a nandroid backup of CM10 and will give Trickdroid 7.1 a go, see if it fixes things.
Another solution I was thinking of was buying Tasker and schedule a sync job. When set up right it might even save me some battery juice.

I tried Trickdroid 7.1 today but spent no longer then 5 minutes on this ROM. Although I selected all options of going back to stock and removing anything related to Sense in the Trickdroid Tweaks it was no where near the AOSP feeling I like best. So I didnt like Trickdroid at all.
Didnt properly test the syncing but in the one test I did I received my email instantly. So I guess there is indeed a problem with the new radio and CM10. I'll report this in the CM10 support thread.
