My adventures with the HTC One S just dont seem to end. Here is a short history:
First thing I did when I got the phone was flash over CM9 as I dont like Sense
All was good until the home button issue popped up, this was at that time my only issue and sync worked just fine
I flashed over CM10 when it was stable enough, this didnt fix the home button issue though
I then flashed over the new RUU with radio 2.21 and directly after that CM10 again (I still dont like Sense)
After the first flash I had a lot of grey signal bars (either bad signal or no connection with Google servers) so I flashed CM10 again.
The signal bars where blue after that and the new radio (2.21) has improved the signal a lot and therefor minimizing the home button issue
But since the new radio I'm experiencing a new problem, just as much annoying. My phone wont sync when the screen is off or wont sync at all unless I do it manually.
This is what I have tried so far:
First cleaned cache from Gmail, Google Services Framework and Market -> no fix
Rebooted the phone with airplane mode on and enabling data connection afterwards -> no fix
Factory reset from recovery, flash CM10 again and restore apps with TB -> no fix
Factory reset from recovery, flash CM10 again and no restore of apps but just vanilla CM10 -> no fix
I have ran out of options so I could use some help here. Why are emails not pushed to my phone when the screen is off?
I had all kinds of sync issues with that radio until I flashed Trickdroid 7.1 which is built off the base which included that radio. Can't figure out how, but it's like they work best together though my best guess is that TD just maintains more free memory, so whatever process syncs the phone doesn't get killed. You can even desense TD as part of the tweak pack if you want to try it

Hmmm ... thanx for this info. I hoped the problem was not related to the radio and I missed something stupid. When I have some time I'll make a nandroid backup of CM10 and will give Trickdroid 7.1 a go, see if it fixes things.
Another solution I was thinking of was buying Tasker and schedule a sync job. When set up right it might even save me some battery juice.

I tried Trickdroid 7.1 today but spent no longer then 5 minutes on this ROM. Although I selected all options of going back to stock and removing anything related to Sense in the Trickdroid Tweaks it was no where near the AOSP feeling I like best. So I didnt like Trickdroid at all.
Didnt properly test the syncing but in the one test I did I received my email instantly. So I guess there is indeed a problem with the new radio and CM10. I'll report this in the CM10 support thread.

Hi team,
hope you can help me...I just rooted my phone, did everything what was needed before flashing a custom rom.
I tried the Android Revolution HD 2.1 custom rom, and it worked fine, but once I made my first phone call, the process com.android.phone started to consume 100% of my CPU, the phone started to be hot, battery rapidly down etc. The only thing helped was the restart and not to make phone call. I searched in the different forums, I tried the USB debugging and also to clear calendar cache, but nothing...I flashed a different kernel as well (Leddroid) but no luck...still the same issue, 100% cpu usage after a phone call.
I decided to flash another custom rom, which was Leedroid 2.2.0...was hoping that it will fix the problem, but again...phone call and cpu on 100%...the strange thing is, that this time it did not do right after the first phone call, but 2 days later. Tried to disable all the synchs, usb debugging, calendar cache etc. but still got this problem
Anybody can help please? I would appreciate
Weird..
I've noticed my phone burning my leg while its in my pocket randomly when im not using it? Maybe a bug on HTC's behalf.Download fast reboot off the market and try using that to kill all the apps, its the best one ive used and normally stops it being so hot
Thank you, but it did not help...it actually kills everything, but as soon as I make the next phone call, the CPU gets back to 100% :-(
Anybody can help please...I installed a different kernel as well, but no luck...tried stock, Leedroid kernel and still got the 100% cpu issue.
Perhaps a full wipe can help. Make a Backup before.
Thanks MysthMob...I tried that one as well...used the SuperWipe from mike and from Leedroid as well...reinstalled the custom rom, everything worked fine till the first phone call...than it went up again to 100%
I was thinking of that it is caused by any 3rd party app...I have these installed:
Advanced task killer pro
Battery widget pro
Automatic bluetooth dongle pro
You dont need a task killer! Sense has one built in called Low Memory Killer
Good to know thank you...just removed, but the problem still persist...I am tired to reboot the phone all the time I make a phone call.
If you still have problems i would send it back for repair, Maybe it has a hardware fault
Do not think so...it was working fine with stock Rom...its just in custom Roms..but with all? I flashed back stock Rom and its working fine, but I want a custom one, I think I do not need to explain why
I will probably go back to the stock rom :-(
Mike is planing to release his 3.0.1 version, maybe he will include a fix...will wait till he posts it
I'm posting this on the four android-related forums that I participate in, in hopes that someone has seen this before and knows what to do.
Here's what I had:
- Droid 2 Global, unlocked, rooted, with Fission ROM, using Rogers Wireless, a GSM network in Canada
- it had been working just fine for 5 months
Here's what I did:
- Used RSDLite and the SBF loader to flash the stock 2.4.330 firmware as seen here: http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/SBF
- ended up with a bootloop, as the directions said I would. cleared data and cashe, no problem, phone booted.
- started up phone, switched to GSM mode, entered APNs, immediately had data service, tested phone functionality, all was well, used APN backup/restore and APN Manager to make backup files of my APNs
- Used stock recovery mode to upgrade to 4.5.607 (gingerbread) firmware as seen here: http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/4.5.607_Firmware
- I used the file linked to from here: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/08/22/gingerbread-build-for-the-droid2-global-leaks/
- started up phone, switched to GSM mode, entered APNs, immediately had data service, tested phone functionality, all was well, used APN backup/restore and APN Manager to make backup files of my APNs
- rooted phone using the adb method that is out there. rebooted and confirmed root access. installed a couple apps that need root. tested phone functionality, all was well. used APN backup/restore and APN Manager to make backup files of my APNs
- As described here, http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/CyanogenMod Installed Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap and ROM Manager in order to flash CWM. rebooted into CWM, factory reset, installed the latest release (10/06), and rebooted
- started up phone, switched to GSM mode, phone app crashed immediately (as is to be expected, based on known bugs), rebooted for it to take effect
Now here's the problem:
- phone can make calls and receive texts with no problem, but cannot get data. wifi also works.
- went into wireless settings, mobile networks, access point names, nothing shows up. Clicked "add APN". entered the APN info that had worked for me before at the past two junctions. hit menu button, then save. takes me back to the APN screen, but no APN shows up.
- repeated this cycle a few times following reboots, etc. Eventually the phone gets to the point where the "add APN" button will not even come up when the menu key is hit.
- during the above, was also checking the "network operators" setting. The phone does locate all of the networks that are "in the air" but no matter which one I choose it will tell me "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
- used root explorer to check /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db. There is a list of about 1500 APNs. There are multiple entries for Rogers including all of the ones I tried to enter that appeared not to save.
- used APN backup/restore and APN manager to attempt deleting existing APNs, restoring the ones that were known to work, etc. Nothing works. These programs do work, and when I check the telephony.db file I can see what they have done to the file, but they are unfortnately unable to make any APN "stick" at the APN screen, and apparently that is the only way that it will work.
more info:
- I've noticed that the list of rogers entries seems to get larger and larger as I go through this process multiple times. I may be wrong, but it seems that this telephony.db file might not actually get changed or updated when you flash a new kernel/firmware/mod/rom to the phone.
- I'm sure that the lack of a list of APNs and the "sim card does not allow connection" message are related. For whatever reason there seems to be a bug in CM7 where the telephony.db file has problems "talking" to the APN screen in settings. But it must not affect most people.
- yes, I have tried a new SIM card.
- yes, I have tried clearing cache, data, dalvik, and fixing permissions.
- Anyone else on Rogers Running CM7 on a D2G? If so, I'd love to talk to you. Maybe I could convince you to send me a working CWM backup. I imagine that if you're a conscientious rommer, you have a backup made folling a fresh install of CM7.
I used to do at one point. The froyo base 2011.08.13 version was the last one that worked for me. Newer ones boot looped if SIM card is inside, no matter what I do. I stopped trying after couple further releases all of which boot looped. Essentially quit using CM4D2G due to bluetooth not working with BT handsfree. Later, after the official Motorola GB release came, I have not even looked back. Since I like few BLUR features, especially dialler, the GB Motorola released suits me very well. With the doubled battery life and the MUCH BETTER GSM radio in 606/607 bulds, phone finally settled down and I can now rely on it.
I have CM7 on another of my phones - actually 2 of them - a Milestone and (recently) a HTC Vision - I love CM7.1 especially on the latter!
I assume your phone works fine with stock rom - right?
Edit: I have a XT860 which is in for repairs - once I get it back and I have a reliable daily phone I plan to experiment with the new GB based CM4D2G. Hopefully this week...

Yes, everything works really well with stock rom. I was quite impressed, as it was my first GB experience. Unfortunately, as with cars, I am all about the "options", and I can't seem to let go of a feature once I have experienced it. I love CM7 and I really want to make it work for my D2G.
I posted this same thing at the rootzwiki thread, and one of the head developers said "You my friend may finally have identified where the gsm data issues are coming from. it isnt just you, it's 98% of the gsm users that arent having data". Another user got me to change a couple of permissions. I thought he was onto something but it didn't work, either. Nonetheless, I think I brought enough attention to this issue and also gave them something to work with through all my trial and error. I am optimistic.
But, for now, I think I have to take CM7. I want my data! I am really tempted to just give stock GB a shot. But Blur scares me. Most people don't seem to like it, though I admit I don't fully understand what Blur is! I see there is MIUI and apex, angel Hexen and VenusX. I might have to try them first.
hallo!
had exactly the same problem! i bought a verizon phone an using it in greece!
But i simply dowloaded some APNs manager from the market and within 2 minutes my phone was connecting to the internet!! So if this worked for me i`m sure its gonna work for u too!!

Can you be more specific as to what you did? Because it sounds exactly like something I tried already. What was the exact name of the software you used? Was your problem 100% exactly the same as mine, or just similar? I literally can't make an APN show up at the APN screen at all.

Some people have this exact problem with the D3, looks like in the D3 placing the phone in airplane mode and then on again is enough to make the APN manager able to read the MCC/MNC codes and, consequently, to store the provided apn.
I wish it was that easy, but it's not. I have tried a number of solutions similar to that but no dice. I appreciate the attempt though.

For the record I have that problem on the D2g flashed with the latest builds of cyanogen rom, (with the same SIMs perfectly working on D3 and D2g with the stock rom), and the airplane mode trick doesn't works too.
So far I haven't found a solution
To get my wife's d2g to work in japan I had to use root explorer to manually edit a file. The file is located at etc/ppp/peers/pppd-ril.options mount the file rw and manually edit the user name and password to match your apn. Toggle airplane mode on off after saving changes and it should work.

Thanks, i guessed that if a proper fix may be hard to find, a workaround was easy enough, I'll try it later with the gingerbread froyo.

sounds interesting. I will give that a try the next time I flash CM7. I moved on to Apex. It's ok, but absolutely dreadful for battery life. I can't imagine CM7 is any better considering it has about 50 more bells and 125 more whistles. But I do prefer CM7 to anything else so as soon as I actually have some tweaking time again, I'll give this a shot.
Since both CM7 and Apex are built off the same firmware, I could just flash them overtop eachother, and wipe date and cache, right? As long as it's that easy, I could see myself trying this sooner.

I tried what you said and I am still not getting data. phone and texts work though, just like before.
Hi everyone,
I guess I. Have discovered a bug.
First I fought it is a bug on insertion 5.4.1 then I have full wiped and flashed ARHD 6.5.1. When I'm associated to wireless and leave my phone in standby the clock is getting out of sync. I've tried several tests to reproduce the out of sync. Im using Leedroid tweaks v4 lite with ultrasmooth Rosie applied. But it has nothing to do with rosie either. I can reproduce the problem on stock rosie too. On mobile data the problem does not happen only on wifi. It is happening on both roms so maybe it is a bug in the base? You need to leave your phone to sleep for a few minutes and unlock and check the clock accuracy. If the screen stays on and you are using it, it will not happen.
Firmware 3.32
Can someone test and confirm this please?
You mean when you come out of standby, and the clock flips? That's a "feature" of Sense. It's to show that its pretty.

No my friend, I mean the system time/clock is not accurate anymore it is behind the actual time. Not that simple
Make a screenshot please
It's probably a bug in the new base. I've noticed my time falling behind and I have mobile data always on.
I ended up syncing time with network once, then unchecking the network sync to let the internal clock handle the timing. Lame workaround, but it's all I could think of for now.
Current setup is InsertCoin 5.1.1, 3.32 firmware, manually desensed, newest radio and RIL, tmous network.

No LeeDroid tweaks or Rosie mods here. Well, no Rosie period haha.

How can I show you this problem with a screen shot lol You wouldn't be able to know that the clock/time is out of sync. If I will have time I will post a video there you could see it.
Did you tried to reproduce this on your phone?
Regards...

Hi rawrfische,
I've used that workaround earlier too, thxs for sharing anyway.
I just wanted to let others know about this problem, maybe dev's and/or HTC (which is watching this forums like any other vendor) can make a fix out of it.
A Question on your edit; did you mean you were using Leedroid tweaks as well and get rid of it and the issue was gone? Or did you mean that in your opinion this has nothing to do with it?
Thanks again..
Update on issue;
This is not happening on all wireless network. I'm using a cable connection at home and somehow it is related to this type of Modem.
Another workarround is to change the wireless sleep profile to "When scrren off" so the clock will sync to the correct time when the device is in sleep as it will be disconnected from wifi. Maybe this will help others with this kind of strange behavior on some sort of Wi-Fi Modems.
I've been having the same problem, the total offset for a day can get as high as 10 minutes!!!!
Same problem o Darkforest and Leedroid ROM's, now I've installed an app called ClockSync an set to sync every hour, the average offset per hour is 20secs.
Actually this thing is very annoying, hope it gets fixed on new releases.
I was doing searches and could not find any info or direction so I am lost as to what to do.
I have an Infuse which originally came from Canada running on Rogers and now I run it on Straight Talk - which should have nothing to do with the problem but I thought it might be important.
I downloaded GPSFIX and GPS STATUS and both say no GPS fix and I get the Searching For GPS in the android notification bar.
Google Maps seems to know my location but the Navigation (or any other GPS program) or Trapster never get a fix (Glob Traffic same thing)
Any ideas? I reload and try a new ROM weekly ( Scott's roms) and have no other issues except for this GPS thing.
Thanks. I appreciate any suggestions.

I suggest u to re flash your rom and make sure to do a clean flash:
wipe data
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
format system (some says it's not necessary i do always before flash)
install rom
install gapps
Hope u'll be fine after that

This might be related, maybe it will help you out. I am running CM10 and was noticing that sometimes my phone can't seem get location information to feed to my news & weather widget and stuff. After fiddling with it a little bit, I noticed that this happens if I reboot the phone and then let it sit there before I start messing with it. What I do to get it working is reboot it, wait for the splash/spinny loady screens to display, and then IMMEDIATELY unlock it, like as soon as the swipe-to-unlock icon appears. Then I set it down and let it finish doing its startup stuff, maybe swiping between screens to keep it awake and the screen on and whatever, and 9 times out of 10, the problem's fixed! I have no idea why this works.
Title should be GPS issues on AOSP Roms HTC One m7 Sprint. I tried a different map app with the same results.
So, there I was having a grand time with an awesomely awesome custom ROM (LiquidSmooth) and Kernel(SlipperySlothAOSPv.2), overclocked and with sweep2wake and t2w functioning perfectly and a **** eating grin on my face. Then I had to go somewhere I had never been before. Busted out Google Maps app, got a signal and a very inaccurate "lock," and then I hear "GPS signal is lost." Numerous restarts, hard resets and even trying a different Kernel and custom ROM (Beanstalk) yielded the same results: GPS is busted on all AOSP Roms for this guy. Not sure why.Any ideas on how I can get this important feature working on Liquid or BeanStalk? I tried GPS Fix and another app that erased the GPS data and downloaded updated data, but that didn't work either. Is there something out there I could try flashing after I flash one of the custom ROMS?
My device is the Sprint HTC One m7. Radios don't have anything to do with GPS do they?

OK. So the fix for this is to enable GPS (with High Accuracy mode selected in the sub settings) in a stock sense-based ROM before rebooting to TWRP, wiping and flashing your new ROM. I don't take credit for the fix, as I read about it somewhere else. Just can't remember where since it has been a few days.
