[WARNING] battery PULLOUT-PUSHIN becomes running-risks! it might BRICK ur DS - HTC Desire S

we have more than 10 cases proved in our local forum, and here in xda more than 5 cases in DS branch.
"Thanks to" the design of the battery compartment door, battery pullout-pushin becomes running-risks:
when u trying to restart ur DS in "a hardware way",
it could easily cause unstably move between battery & DS-self,
and there might come SURGE current which is ur DS' eMMC-chip murderer.
Make sure there's NOT any tiny battery move when you flipping the compartment door from the side.
Make sure disconnect the battery and DS itself quickly & stably as soon as you could.
Make sure there's at least 10 seconds between battery pullout and pushin.
more software debug procedures, hardware error info, pics, details, see:

Nice, should be pinned as important

Back-up Battery

I've got a O2 XDA, the main battery is fully charged (green led constant) but it still shows backup as 25% CHARGED. PLease provide some insight.
Thanks.
If you leave it on charge overnight and it is still showing 25% then it would seem the backup battery will soon need replacing. Go to this link for the location of the backup battery. I think you will need to send this to the authorised repair centre otherwise you will invalidate warranty by opening the phone and breaking the security seal. Why they design a phone with a battery that isnt externally accessible is a bit dumb or maybe its another money spinner for the repair shop.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaHardwareOverview
Thanks for that. Its actually a Wallaby, does any one know where the battery is located, and what battery is it?
It will still need taking apart to locate the battery unfortunately. You will need a small flat blade screwdriver and a T6 torx driver.
Dunno Where You Get that From?!?!??!?! The XDA I has NO Backup Battery and If it did it's Attached to the Back of the MAIN Battery? Come on Cruisin! Didn't you have an XDA 1? sometime in your life?
Yes Collins I have stripped many xda's, and he will need to take the xda apart to access the battery, I dont think I said there was a backup except when referring to xda 2 which was not what the guy was after unfortunately. I read "O2 XDA" as "XDA 2", I was also thrown by the 25% charged statement becuase every xda 1 that I have had even with wm2003 doesnt show any backup in the settings.
When you open the xda using the T6 torx and small screwdriver you will find that the battery is firmly attached to the backplate of the xda, if you lever up one corner and then apply a little force it will lift up. Having ascertained that you have an xda1, any reading you are getting under your power settings backup battery is a glitch, if the main battery is showing good then you should ignore the other part. Which rom are you using?

2250 Battery from ebay ->LED Amber and Green

I i bought a 2250mAh Battery from eBay for my S710.
When i put it, i am unable to power the phone on.
When i put it to charge (USB or original charger), right LED stitches flashing green (2Sec) an anber (3 Sec)
Any Idea?
Hello
Just try to replace your batt.
I had the same problem, and push strongly the batt.
I've seen that the "right contact" at the vox is bit shorter. i was adjusting it a bit and now it works
sirride, who did you purchase it from on eBay? I got my 2250mAH and I am still waiting for a battery cover as it does not fit.
What did you do to the right pin to "adjust it"? My amber LE keeps flashing, I'll try to pad the last contact with some wire and see what happens.
I bought it from dmc-batteries, Uk. It took 10 working-days and there came a new battery-cover with..
I took a "Office" to pull the rightest (-) contact a bit more out as it was a bit "shorter" then the other 3 at the vox.
but i think it would also help to put a bit of a wire or metal to the "hole in the battery"
When you compare original and ebay battery, you see that the plastic around the contacts is much bigger at the ebay-thing. Thats why the contact at the phone doesnt reach the battery (which is giving the amber light)
Sorry for my description, i am not native english speeking...
I bought one off a seller and it's not the right battery, so I think I will purchase one off dmc-batteries.
How do you like it so far? Can you take some pictures to show how much bigger it makes the handset?
Thanks.
Here you are
Now I again dont get it startet.
About the "lasting" of the battery, I cant tell yet. I was once fully charching and within 24h, it dropped to 59%, having WLAN permanently on.
edit:
Just found out that the "right" connector isnt to short, but he "hangs" at the Batteryhousing.
So if you buy the Battery. just look carefully when you put the battery that the rightest connector (vox) enters the "hole" (bat)
Here you see the problem....
Phone ain't too sexy with that batt cover.
Now it looks very much like this phone:
http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2006/08/old-cell-phones-get-cingular-fee.jpg
I'll stick with charging every other day.
Wow, much larger will the cover on but double the capacity will be worth it, I have my battery now - I'm just waiting on a new cover.
Thanks for posting up the pictures.

Cruise charge prolem

I have a very annoyeing problem, my cruise stop accepting charge the led is lighting and the status when i plug it into power is charging but nothing happen,or it charge and empty the 100 % in 10 min , i bougt the device from uk and the local agent refuse to check it ,ofcoyrse i am not using the offical rom plz plz plz advice me what to do
The first thing i'd check is the charger. Try using a PC to charge the Polaris instead of the charger you are currently using. If it works, get a new charger.
Next thing, i don't know what part of ROM is responsible for the charging circuit control, but i would try & look it up on the forum, and reflash that part of ROM with the original.
And just in case everything else fails, i would start messing with the circuitry, but i would really hope it doesn't get to that, cause today's electronic is really hard to fix, with all those 10++ layers PCB's, BGA chips, hardly identifiable SMD components, etc etc.
Thank you very much for your reply,te problem is i tried all you mention and the problem still the same any advice now?
Try cleaning the the battery contacts, the battery connector contacts and the USB connector contacts. Try replacing the battery with another one, if possible (preferably a 100% working one, for example, try swapping batteries with a friend, just to see if the battery is causing the problem).
And, sorry to disappoint you, but HTC build quality is quite bad, hence, it can easily be a hardware problem. In this case you only have 2 options. Get it to a repair shop/lab or open it up and mess with it yourself. Can't really help you with either, sorry.

Nexus 5 Weird Touch Problems

Usually when I leave my Nexus 5 alone for a long period of time (when I go to sleep), it starts acting weird when I turn it on. It touches the screen by itself, kinda like ghost touches. I don't know how to fix it.
I'm facing the same problem with my phone (mine it's Tecno M3), but I've read many different forums but still not yet found a solution for mine...
but i got a hint for you. maybe it's gonna work for your device..
here it is... a user who face the same problem, ghosts touching, keyboard instability using HTC ..
so you got try for your Nexus
""I found the problem it's not hardware or software... I have been fighting in finding the cause for my problem for 4 days (full days)... I have read all the posts in almost all threads in the internet:
- I upgrade to ICS 3.3
- I tried all roms in avialable in the net (also jb 4.2 without sense).
- I put the phone one night witouht battery and recharge the phone without tuoching the screen.
- I tried the Aluminum foil and made a better contact with the silver pin in back cover.
*** BUT NOTHING HELPED ME, MY PHONE STILL CRAZY ***
- I can't pull the ring from first time..
- I can't answer calls...
- The device randomly opens programs...
So the cause is: When I put my sd card (32 g) it has a abdominal !!!! and this the problem !!!!!
When you put the Sd Card the abdominal lift the lid and this cause a
contact with aluminium in the back cover !!
Just put a piece of paper or whatever to avoid contact between the back cover and the SD-Card's lid.
I hope this will help you ""

Don't recommend things which bare no relevance whatsoever to the Nexus 5. It has no SD Card slot therefore it is not helpful.

On some chargers the Nexus 5 touchscreen tends to screw up quite a lot. Mine had an issue where a Samsung Adaptive Charger was pushing 2A into the phone and the screen was close to unusable. Try using the stock charger plug and see if that helps.

I don't have a stock usb, only a third party one. I've also been doing some research and it looks like the digitizer needs replacing, but I don't think that's true.

Back Cover is opening

Hello
Before few days I noticed a strange sound from the back side of my phone. It was like a broken glass. When I turned over my phone, I saw, that the back cover was a bit open at the left side (where the Volume Buttons are), but it isn't broken. The whole side is open maybe about 1 mm. If i push the cover back it's opening again.
I think, that the battery is expanding, but the phone doesn't get hot, and I can use it normally. Everything works perfectly. Also I want to say, that the phone NEVER fell down and it also never fell into water. Only at this day I was at the beach, and it was a bit hot, but the phone was in my bag in the shadow
Now I want to ask, if it's safe to use (I don't want, that this thing explode in my hands, or at night while charging ). I was at my operator store, and they said, that they have to repair it, and this could take 3 Weeks(!). They would also reset all my data, I really don't know why. I am also thinking of repair it myself, but I don't know where to buy the Battery, and the Back Cover.
Some infos if it's important:
- Rooted
- Android 8.0
- 40°C - 43°C Battery Temperature at heavy Gaming with Max. settings
- Buyed in October 2016 (as a new device at my operator-shop)
- 4000 - 4200 times plugged into charger
- 750 full charging cycles
- charged mostly over original charger with fast charge
- never used Wireless Charging
- not tweaked by power or electicity current
- I have a Phone cover, which holds at the back side, but it also closes the Phone
Should I try to repair it myself or should I give it to my operator and they do it for me (of course I have to pay, because at Batterys there is a 6 Month warranty in Austria)
Thank you in advance and sorry for my bad english.
The chances are very good that the battery is expanding. The opening is in the right area for it to be the battery, and if it keeps reopening when you try to close it then it must be the battery pushing the cover off, as there's really nothing else in the phone that could do that.
You should definitely get it fixed. An expanding battery is bad news. It might not explode but it's not going to get better. You can fix it yourself (for example, look at the teardown on ifixit) but the main difficulty is getting a new battery that isn't a fake. Getting it fixed through your operator would probably give you a better chance of getting a real Samsung battery and having it repaired in such a way that it would still be water resistant.
Thanks for the reply. I think, I will give it to my operator and they should repair it, because I want to keep that the phone is water ressistent. Its not nesseary, but it's fine to have it.
