So, now that we have a Kernel that supports custom boot animation-THANKS IMNUTS-I am curious about something?
Firs here is a thread XDAholic shared with me-thanks-that has a ton of custom boot animations...all credit of this is not mine-thank JaeKar99 for them
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053250
my question is I realize that boot animation while having Voodoo enabled is a bit choppy. Is it for the custom animations as well? I notice some are choppy and some are not. Can others let me know how its working for them? From what I have read if its choppy due to Voodoo no one knows how to fix it yet.
What about being able to change the boot sound? Its still the stock sound even when I put the custom animation in?
Also, while we had the stock boot animation I like others used the boot animation changer app from the market and applied a new animation. Now while this didnt change the animation it did make the animation smooth. I wonder what it did to smooth it out? Anyone?

the laggy boot animation has something to do with the kernel, a bug perhaps but not necessarily due to lagfix/voodoo. imnuts said if you unzip one of those packages and drop the animation in /system/media or /data/local it should work... the stock droid animation will still be choppy as he doesn't know why or how to fix it but new different ones should work fine, as for the sound file it may need to be removed or replaced
blazing through on my VZ Droid Charge 4G
Adding the bootanimation.zip files work perfectly, at least the few I tried, not choppiness like the standard boot animation
To modify the boot sound, you need to remove/replace the PowerOn.wav in system/etc.
It needs to be named with the capital P and O like above.

+1 does work for me too.. I know changing the boot animation seems like a small issue (I think the original Droid one is cool but it doesn't work right lol) but its nice to have options, THANKS IMNUTS
Only the stock animation is laggy with voodoo kernels. Custom boot animations run just fine.
ok can some one help me. I put new animation in data local, then system media. With no success. So then I deleted the stock one. Which on boot displays nothing, but can still here sound. Just want to change the animation. What does it take?
I got it

Ok, so I finally finished my boot animation and loaded it in with the proper coding and it is very choppy (media or local folder). I tried it with heavily compressed jpgs, and full pngs and it made no difference. It looks as if it is running at half the frame rate (or less). I designed it to run at 15fps (which is what everyone seems to believe the "15" means next to the "480 800" in the desc.txt file). I have no duplicate images to slow it down. Also chaning the number at top (15) to any other value causes the animation not to display.
I don't have a lot of pictures, no more than any other standard boot animation.
I do have a lot of folders though (11). What I discovered is that the second number that most people say doesn't do anything, actually indicates how long a single image, in its respective folder, displays, aka a pause. That comes in very handy in saving space, as you don't have to duplicate the same still image to create a pause.
All individule animations are in their own folders. What I could try is have two folders and manually create the pauses with duplicates, and reduce the resolution to compinsate for the size of the folders. I have a feeling it won't help though.
I'm running the Froyo TW4 version of Eclipse.

What happened to them?
My g1 had some sick animations at one point, zoomed into apps when i opened them, and zoomed out when i closed.
Now that I got an evo 4g I can't seem to reproduce those effects.
It's not a "huge" deal, but having them certainly adds to the eyecandy factor.
I think i did it with an apk called dev tools..
I can't seem to find it, and spare parts only lets me changing the speed of windows animations and sideways shift animations.
Thanks!
i'm pretty sure its in spare parts... at least for nexus... is your phone rooted?
From what Ive read, all of the really neat effects have been dropped from the OS as of 2.01 onwards.
There is an app you can install called Spare Parts, which if you have 1.6 or below will allow you to turn on the animation effects of the screen rotate etc but it also points out that they just wont work in anything 1.6+
Atleast thats what I think, im no dev, just one man annoyed at the lack of eyecandy ;(
Did you try Home > Menu > Settings > Display > Animation? Make sure that you have "All animations" checked. That will at least get you started.
I have the "All animations" checked.
It's not that I don't have animations.
The window animation is set to slow in spare parts, which is step 1.
Step 2 is Transition animations, which only shows when going from one part of an app to another is also set to slow.
Step 3 and what I'm trying to accomplish here is the "zooming" animation when you open an app.
I believe the Droid has this, and I really miss it from my G1.
Why is it not here, and how do i get it back?
Almost forgot the auto-rotate animation.. That was cool as well..
Gingerbread or Android 3.0 will focus on eyecandy, supposedly, but until then at least some basic animations would be cool.
P.S. I'm not rooted, yet.
Turns out with launcherpro I get the desired animations. Is this part of the launcher? Or is sense blocking the OS level animations

The zoom animations unfortunately are not present in sense ui - thats why you see them when you use launcher pro.

I know what you're talking about. I got an HTC Legend, which has Sense UI but no Live wallpaper, then I flashed a patch file to get Live Wallpaper works on my Legend...and tada..I got "zooming in/out" effect also. Just dont know why And I'm not using any other launcher but Sense.

I think you can pm that guy to get what you want.
I rooted my phone, and installed the latest Cognition ROM build. However, I noticed something after using the phone for about 2 days. The startup animation was not animated; it was static. Then, I went into the browser, and now I see that all animated GIFs are all static. It looks like there is no animation working properly on my phone.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
I was slightly wrong. I checked some forums and found that animated GIFs work in some places, not in others. What does this mean?
Also, the startup Cognition animation does not work. It's static. How can I fix this?
Thanks!
Hello Everybody
I was wondering if anyone has any nice boot animations for the SGS4G i am currently running Bionix Black ice By Krylon360 (KD1) I really like the teamwhiskey boot screen, but i am looking for more options and hopefully they're CWM flashable.
thanks in advance and any info on this matter it appreciate
y'all have a great day
google absolute system or look for it in the market. You can download quite a bit of animations from the phone itself. Then install it and reboot. The helix animation is sick! just need boot sound to match
I'm not a big fan of the CRT-ON/OFF effect, and I was wondering how i could remove it. (I'm on ICBINB KH2)
Yeah ... same here?
Not really sure about removing it but I know with "blade buddy", from the market you can speed up the animations making crt unnoticeable.

You'd have to pull the framework-res file and either edit the on and off animation files, or replace them with GB stock animations, and repackage the framework file.
Can somebody do some kind of mod for the animation? It's slow and as I have used CM7 and CM7-based ROMs, there was as an option for how fast the animation would happen. I think the community would really appreciate one. Samsung devices tend to have "slow-animation" and the mod really helps in changing it.
No rush or anything, just asking for one if it is possible without having to install ROMs and such. A flashable zip is fine. Thank you in advance.
What animation you mean? If you mean the UI animations like transitions between apps and window pop-ups, you can change those speed with "Spare Parts"

Didn't know it was on Google Play. Thanks. Haha.
