I recently got a new HTC Desire S, an upgrade from my old HTC Desire.
The old (bravo) desire was rooted running Cyanogen 7.1. I have pro versions of both MyBackup and Titanium Backup. I did a full backup using both apps just to make sure. They both backup to the SD card.
I put the SD card in the new (saga) desire S, it is rooted and running Virtuous Unity 1.29. When I restore apps using either MBP or TB, they both have some issues. Firstly, half the apps won't load, they just instantly say there was an error and I only get the force close button. Examples of these apps are all the Angry Birds and Winamp. Another app HomeRun Battle Free, it runs but clearly hasn't restored the data so I lose all my game progress. Some apps have restored fine, such as Words with Friends.
I wonder if the force close/crash thing is due to the previous ROM being A2SD+? So perhaps the backups have wrong locations for the app files?
Is there a correct way to do this? I have forked out for 2 pro versions of backup apps, I figured this would be a pretty simple task.
It seems that s2e (app for cyanogen) was the issue. Once I installed cyanogen for the desire s and installed s2e then most of the apps started working fine from a restore.
So I still have 2 questions. Since i've been running apps with s2e, what's the correct way to backup/restore in my situation?
Secondly, what's the correct way to backup HomeRun Battle 3D LITE version. I've googled and people have tutorials on how to backup the pro version properly, it requires copying some special files manually, but these don't work on the LITE version.

I believe everyone here skillfull enough doing updating ROM on their O3D. Now I'm still wonder how do you all properly update ROM + maintain your old data(SMS,MMS,Installed Application,Notes, Calendar etc)
I had patched most of my gameloft game to external SD. Some of them non-gameloft as PES 2012. I can backup that gamedata too. Don't know about the savegame though. Update process will require you to wipe all data. Now if I had update rom, then restore application, what happen to my save game? I hate to re-play the game from the start again.
I found some application (mybackup pro, titanium backup). Will that backup everything up?
I want all applications+data for sms, mms, calendar, savegame etc from my previous ROM available in a new ROM(ThiaiO3D, Acura etc). Can that be done?
Thanks.

By the way, you should post such questions in general forum.
Yes, especially Titanium Backup can backup anything you desire... Give it a try.
I use AppExtractor.
It takes me 5 minutes to have back all my settings, sms, apps + config.
Thanks for your advice. How about savegame? Will it also included in the backup? I'm afraid it will be much complicated than sms, app& setting backup. Let's say gameloft games. Where is the savegame being stored?
yup, gamedata too.
I have purchased Titanium from the market. Its really worth it! Saved me a few times.
It will even let you install back to Internal SD, External SD, anywhere really (original location of apps/games).
Its also fast and does batch process so there are no prompts or anything when backing up and restoring.
Hi everyone,
I was wondering, I'm currently running LeeDroid's SuperSensational V4.3.0 (With android 2.3.5). But I want to go to ICS (Darkforest ROM for example).
If I use titanium backup to restore the apps from this android 2.3.5 ROM (including data), in my new android 4.0.3 rom, will this cause a lot of FC issues, or is it a safe process?
I can't seem to find any details about it, so...any experiences?
I don't know about anyone else, but I couldn't restore the apps through TB. I used File Expert to find my TB folder and restored them manually than used TB to restore my data for the apps. No force closes here...

Tb works fine aslong as you have the latest version, no fc but some older apps will be incompatible
Think the latest is 4.7.3 it was updated for ICS

As long as the app is compatible with ICS it'll work fine.
It won't matter that it was previously installed on Gingerbread.
You will almost certainly find the FC issues after restoring the user apps along with data. I havent personally found problem on restoring system apps but user apps sometimes cause FC problems. And on a separate note, you should move onto the DarkForest ROM. Best ICS ROM for me
Hi,
Just to update on the progress: I did flash DarkForest rom and ran a Titanium backup of all user app and some system data (only the stuff I found necessary, i don't use HTC mail and stuff so I didn't restore that).
So far the only app that seems to FC on me is the XDA app (kind of ironic xD). So if anybody's wondering: yes restoring titanium backup to ICS is safe
I am considering getting this phone on or near the release date. I use Titanium Backup Pro on a rooted Samsung Captivate right now to backup my installed apps and their data. If I get the One X, how will I be able to restore this data from my Captivate? Is the One X easily rooted yet? Or is there another program or technique that I could use to accomplish this same task?

I don't know how easy the phone is to root, but I don't think that you should have any problems restoring apps from your old phone. A few weeks ago I busted my Captivate. I pulled my titanium backups off the phone (luckily the USB/ADB still worked), and put them onto my new phone.
When I restored, I restored apps only (not apps+data, and DO NOT RESTORE SYSTEM DATA), and everything worked great. For a few apps where I really needed the data (note everything, tasker, angry birds), I selectively restored the data.
If you have a box or dropbox accont you can upload the backup to one of them and then download it your new phone. Just beware that it takes FOREVER to upload (at least mine did). Once you are rooted and have TiBu installed you could then use the backup for box or dropbox.
I'm having the hardest time restoring apps with Titanium Backup. I'm rooted, SU Prompt is set at grant and TiBu verifies all the backups for apps as good without errors. Then after flashing a rom Tibu just hangs and can't restore my user apps. When I verify the backups they show as bad. Anyone else having these issues?
Soumds like I had the same issue but with system apps

I've restored using it for each version of cleanrom up to 2.4 with no issues at all.
I have also flashed clean ROM a couple of times. No issues. I do tend to only restore user apps that are missing. I never do a backup of all system dat and users apps as you can have issues restoring system data.
I'm currently on clean ROM 2.3 which I just did two days ago and I used TI to re-install all my games and such. No problems
go to preferences and change processing mode to the second option Indirect (compatibility issues)
Titanium confuses me. The HOX is ky first android phone. I rooted it the other day, spoofed the cid, and unlocked the bootloader. I had a huge scare trying to ruu 1.85. So that's where I'm sitting right now. I looked in the play store for root apps and of course downloaded titanium. It says it backs up the info, but to where? There are entirely too many options for a noon lol

Kcsureshot is right, don't restore system data especially if you change roms! I use it mostly for games, Facebook, email...titanium stores backups to my SD card so they'll be there after a phone wipe

I tried that and didnt work for me. Mine started messing up after a strange message this morning. Titanium back up said it recognized a different identification number of some sort. Said this normally happens when you swap phones or if you do a factory reset. I've never seen this before and i've always synced between different devices. Same model and different models. It just sits at 0% on restore, doesnt move. I've cleared data, restarted, unchecked apps that it appeared stuck on and still nothing. Very strange. i'm going to search for an older version and try it.
Guys, I would absolutely appreciate some help in working something out. I'm trying to restore both Need for Speed Most Wanted and Plants Vs. Zombies on CM 10.2 but it's just not working out. In the case of PVZ I had made all my progress on a 4.2.2 rom and then attempted to restore it with TiBu but after it's done if you tap the icon it opens but then immediately force closes. The same happens with NFS:MW with the difference being that I had made all my progress while on CM 10.2. I flashed a new CM 10.2 nightly, restored both apps, and both will open for a second then close. If I download both apps fresh from the playstore they boot up fine. I tried downloading the apps from the playstore then restoring just data but I get the same thing. I know the issue must have something to do with EAs DRM scheme but I don't know how to get around it. I managed to restore my data on NFS:MW with an altered .apk I found but I don't want to have to pirate games that I legitimately bought. FYI I went back to CM 10.1 to see if the games would restore completely and they do. I don't know what else to try, please help!
Hello, I am having the same issue. I think that it has to do with our android device ID's. Every time you wipe and flash a new rom, you are assigned a new id. Which would make sense because you say you can restore fine from your backup... This is because your backup is restoring your old android device id. I remember seeing an option somewhere in tb to restore previous android device id. This may be the solution. I hope it works, I am not willing to start nfs over again. Already have once. Good luck!
