Has anyone been able to customize the lock screen on the Mytouch 4g slide? Per page 23 in the manual located here:
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1952
You should be able to go to Settings > Personalize > Lock Screen. I don't have the option 'Lock Screen'. I've confirmed this on the Sensation 4G that it's available.
Thanks in advance....

I believe the manual is wrong. The MT4GS is running on a different version of sense compared to the Sensaton 4G. Even though both of them are running on Sense 3.0, the former is running a customized espresso version, in which you cant personalise the lock screen, buy more themes, etc. Here's hoping for S-OFF soon.
Source: Video reviews of the phone.
Thanks for the explanation. I wonder what they were thinking when they did that. I mean, purposely limiting the UI like that when they already had another phone so similar in spec that had the non-expresso version.
I would like to know what was going on, too. Why on earth would you purposefully remove certain features that enhance the user experience?
This is definitely one of the things I wish I could change about this phone.

Don't worry folks, with S-OFF, you can do as you please. Only a matter of time now, temporary S-OFF has already been achieved.

Hi,
I'm wondering if there is a way to remove this annoying requirement when you unlock your screen. I'm liking Android, but I like how iPhone just logs you in as soon as you type in the correct passcode. I want my Android to do that too rather than having to hit "ok" each time I log in.
GT
are you just using the stock sense rom that came on the phone?
there are different lock screens you can use, and there are certain apps that can modify lockscreen behavior as well.
I'm using GTG's ROM (Stock Rom, rooted, S-off, HSUPA, sideload, etc).
I've looked around, but I don't see an option to disable "ok" requirement.
I'm hoping that there's a hack to make it not require that step.
Personally, I use widget locker. It's a great app for just a few bucks. It's available in the market. It's really customizable and works great on every device I've had.

[EDIT] It appears this won't work without special files from the demo unit. Perhaps when custom roms and S-OFF come to light we should be able to get this work further, until then you won't get this to work.
I got this from 0mega's thread from the pre-release /system dump of his phone. I cannot confirm it will even work on a stock Sensation since my Sensation is away for repair so please post if it doesn't work:

Thanks to 0mega1 for the dump and hope it is useful.
Fails to install on my stock sensation atm.
Will keep hold of it

what the app can be used for ?
It did install on mine, and i can find it in the list of apps, but not in the app launcher, does anyone know how to launch this?
This was from a pre-released version of the phone. It's a real shame it doesn't seem to work on the stock sensation. I would have tested it myself but my phone was away for repair and i thought it might just 'work'.
It might need S-OFF, but to be honest i doubt it. I even tried it on my Desire HD in case it worked on other phones but it just force closes.
I was wondering, if anyone might be able to use this via ADW or something. Since you said you can find it in the list of apps, you might be able to do a custom shortcut in a 3rd party launcher and then direct that shortcut to that tool to launch it? Just a thought. I was able to do that with ADW on my stripped version of Sense 3.0 on my Thunderbolt so I could edit the lockscreen shortcuts without actually needing the Rosie launcher.
Hmm is this the same as the HTC Function test program 1.0? if so you launch it with *#*#DIAG#*#* I can test the screen, buttons, system info, battery run down test, camera, audio, vibrator, LED, backlight, HST status.
It's a cool but useless tool
Ever since I put senseless 2.0 on my sensation I get a message telling me "you don't have permissions to open the page..." Can't watch videos on ESPN or NFL.com... I don't think its flash related. Any help would be much appreciated! I'm a noob at this stuff. Thanks everyone for you knowledge.

Also a noob.
I think my Sensation that I bought 2 weeks ago has Sense 3.0, and I changed a setting so now a green arrow appears on flash stuff, and I click on it if I want it to play, otherwise they dont.
Not of any help to the OP, but Audiheel:
Go to your browser
Menu button
(...) aka more options
Settings
Scroll down to the Advanced configuration section
Look for Enable Plugins
Yours should say "on demand." That's how I use mine also (saves me from seeing flash ads more often than not).
You can just change it to Always on, and you won't have to click on the green arrow for flash to work.
Thanks Bernardos, good to know how to find that setting again. I like it that way as well.
Not sure if I initially did this to save on data usage, or to speed up the page loading, but I like it this way so far.
I have a small problem with 'HTC Sense' in my stock ROM, when the phone rings and I try to pull it from my pocket, I always found that whether I mistakenly answered or cancelled. This is due to the slide up to cancel or slide down to answer in 'Sense'. Is there anyway to avoid this? or is there any application to allow me have the slide right or left (like the original Android one)? or can I disable 'Sense'?
Thanks in advance for your help

you can try a custom ROM with sense 3.0 ,3.5 or you can try cm7,miui
the lockscreens on these ROMs should prevent this from happening
An alternative that doesn't involve rooting, would be to use a different launcher. This would be the "disable sense" approach.
I recommend Launcher Pro. It has stacks of options, its smooth, and can be skinned/theme like sense.
You'll loose the HTC Widgets, but there are third party alternatives for all of them on the market. Launcher pro also has some Widgets if you buy the full version.

that's a big inconvenience. One of the prime reasons I rooted. You can try one of the sense ROM Ports.

You will have to use an alternative lock application to prevent this. I use go launcher but still get the sense lockscreen. Use widget locker or any other lock application to prevent getting the sense lockscreen.

Hi all, I am a newbie to Android device here. Please don't flame me.
I have recently acquired both Nexus 4 and 10. Both great devices. However, I really don't need to scroll around 5 screens. I can't seem to find any settings that allows me to reduce the number of home screens. And according to the forum I read, the only thing I know is to install a what's called "launcher" to provide additional customization which allows me to change the screen. Since I am new to the Android scene, I rather stick to stock everything as much as I can and familiarize myself before I venture too far. So I was wondering if there is anything changed since 4.2.1?
Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks!
This app will.
This is the only way to do it aside from manually de-compiling the .Apk and editing it, trust me, this is a lot easier and this launcher is just the stock version but with extra options.
Try Apex Launcher or ADW.Launcher both or good.
If you root your device there are roms that have this build in.
for instance my HTC Sensation with ViperS has Sense, and that can add more home pages..
There would be roms that have this feature built in

Doesn't stock launcher do it? Do a pinch in gesture, it will show overview of all screens. Long press on the one u want to remove, it will guide u through rest.
life!
Thanks. I tried the pinch on my N4 but didn't seem to work.
