S-off (via AlphaRevX) restored stock and still s-off - HTC Sensation

Hi All,
This is my first ever post but im an avid user of XDA - Please forgive me if someone else has said this,
I installed AlphaRevX's s-off patch - Brilliant!!! Excellent! Until I read about the charging issue when the battery is flat, so flashed a custom rom to have a look see and quickly went back to stock ROM (RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1_Radio_10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198179_signed)
I just looked at the bootloader and I still have s-off without the Revolution text at the top!!! is this luck?!...
If not, looks like something worth investigating
Mart

Sure you was not s-off before?
If you are sure have a look if it is ship or radio soff or hboto soff
Can you send me some links regaridng to the error ? Get my sensation in a few days back and so i dont read all carefully ;-)

I'm pretty sure flashing the stock rom wouldn't mess with the bootloader at all and make it back to S-ON. Then again I could be wrong.

Yup! Fixed the charging issue!

What is the battery charging issue when battery is "flat"?
And what does a battery-"flat" mean?

But do you have CWM installed? I think CWM is the reason, not Revolutionary S-OFF.

I also think its the clockwork not the bootloader.

I am having issues now with charging a completely dead battery. It doesn't recognize it, the orange charge light comes on for two seconds and then starts flashing orange or turns off completely. Multiple tries to charge doesn't make a difference. My battery is at 3.1v right now, so I am going to try charging it with a different phone and getting the voltage up. What ever you do, don't run your battery completely dead. Worked fine until this.
This is related to the recovery, so becareful what you flash. attached is a ZIPPED version of the orig recovery.

If you would all please read the threads.
This is a known issue.
Clockwork Recovery released by Revolutionary currently does not support charging. So if you turn off your phone with fastboot disabled, you will not b able to charge.
Team Revolutionary are working to fix it, as soon as it is fixed, it will be updated in the S off sticky guide!
Flashing a Stock RUU will wipe everything including clockwork recovery with a stock recovery.
BUT IT WILL NOT REMOVE S-OFF.
so once you s-off and flash back to stock you stay s-off

I can confirm that flashing that stock RUU does remove the "Revolutionary" text at the top, almost as if we have a stock S-OFF device.

Where does one find the ruu ROM?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

Now try to go to your recovery after you revert back to shipped ruu and see if it works... mine does not.. it goes to a screen with a phone and a red triangle with an exclamation point when I try to load recovery.

After I flashed the official RUU, I simply placed the recovery zip back on my sd card and updated it the same as before
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

I read in another thread that if you flash the eng hboot and then the offical RUU for your carrier that it should return you to stock with s-on.

You need to reinstall clockwork recovery for it to boot into recovery mode again

Ok, im very much a noob when it comes to the sensation, I had a Hero before this and i loved that phone!...
Ok this is what I can see, I can boot into recovery and I get a few limited options (wipe, flash update from zip etc) and I dont have the charging issue...
I can access recovery, i have s-off, i dont have charging issue...
Brilliant!

Just flashing the eng s-off removes it too.

my h-boot version was 18 then when i flashed android revolution rom it went to a 17. (not exact numbers but thats not really the point) I was just wondering what the H-boot version really has to do with my device itself. Or would i need to be able to switch it back to original state at some point

Hboot is on a separate partition than rom. When you go from stock to rooted your hboot might change, depending on the root method.
Flashing a rom won't change it. Reverting to stock with an ruu will.

Engineering hboot allows you to flash recovery and radio at a more basic level and can help you recover from a ****ed up state in some cases. Good idea to have.
Super CID just allows you to flash an ruu from another carrier and is completely unnecessary if you're flashing custom roms.

Gotcha thanks. Also I'm sure there is a difference between eng s-off and the s-off using revolutionary.io since your here and we talkin about it, you have a definition for me in basic terms? Perhaps a link to someplace? I been looking in google but they start talking about ship s-off and radio s-off, I'm not sure what s-off I've done. I just knew it was necessary before perm rooting.

Revolutionary does radio s-off which means the phone itself has security turned off and whatever hboot you have will display that. Eng s-off means the hboot is allowing the security bypass. Ship s-off just means it came that way from factory.
My understanding is somewhat rudimentary so I would appreciate one of the elders stepping in to clarify if I've missed anything.
We need s-off to give hboot permission to flash a custom recovery. Then we use the custom recovery because it permits us to make changes to the firmware, like the update that gave us root access.
The hierarchy goes radio, hboot, recovery, rom. Each is on a separate partition.

I would like to see (as you put it) one of the elders step in here with their feedback as well.
I'm gonna go ahead and move to the next step (eng) and see where that will take me in my adventures of the sensation.
I am also interested to hear from other members about their achievements with their devices as far as CPU speeds and of the many tricks that can performed by the sensation. I find myself searching for that info all day.

Find your correct ruu, download ruu.exe to your pc, put your phone into fastboot mode, from h boot screen press power, you can then connect your phone to pc and run the ruu.exe as administrator. This will take you back to stock, s off, unrooted phone. Your phone will be restored and working. Then go read all of the stickies thoroughly so you understand what you are doing and what you need to do to successfully flash ROMS without the risk of bricking.

Hi I'm learning about everything too. I can say I don't regret rooting and flashing custom Rom for a second! It can be intimidating at first, trust me I know but if you stick with it your reward will be great! Before you do anything read about it. What I did was even print out instructions so I didn't miss a step that helped me out a lot when flashing my first Rom. There's a lot to learn but everyone here is so helpful. Ask questions, read. Soon it becomes clearer and easier to understand. Its up to you if you wish not to proceed, but I just wanted to give you a pep talk and let you know you can do this! But never proceed unless you are comfortable with it. I wish you the best and good luck in what ever you decide to do.

The boot loop problem really scared the **** out of me. I guess i was being a little careless and didn't bother to check the CID of my phone, I thought I have Super CID already, but it is showing i have the incorrect CID.
I really want to experience ICS, even tho I am happy with my phone right now. I'm just so afraid of bricking my phone.
I guess I will do more homework on it before I do it.
Can someone answer my question in the previous post?
Thank you in advance

You can't run older ruu when SON
To have custom rom's you need to do SOFF via Juopunutbear way or htc dev unlock
The later might not work for you.. As you might got motherboard replaced..
So only solution is JB via temproot

I highly doubt it. If you're uncomfortable, you should stick with stock. It's always wise to not do it if you aren't sure of it..
If I had steady hands it wouldnt be a problem, Im a flashaholic, hate stock lol x
Maybe if you read over it a few times you might get a bit more comfortable with it? What I do is even print out the guide so I don't miss a step.this has really helped me in the past when doing new things, I know it may sound silly but its nice to have a printed guide infront of you incase you get in a pinch. This way all the steps are right there in front of you. This is what I do. Just a suggestion. If you DO decide to give it a shot then maybe this might help. If your Hboot still says *locked* you cannot flash a recovery.
Please get the correct Hboot from here & follow flashing instructions: http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/
You can then proceed to flashing recovery.
Right done that even though the green line never goes to the end my hboot no longer says locked. I put the recovery zip on the sd, booted into bootloader said yes, completed and rebooted, but no custom recovery there?

What i did before this is that i flashed 4ext recovery though adb. Nothing else
Is there a probability that the battery must have drained out?

Till then can you suggest me any rom that doesnt need s-off and will be a very safe rom to install without any chances of bootloop.
Also i had updated to ics 4.0.3
I was wondering if i could find someones backed up stock rom (rooted) which i could just flash and not go through the hassle of tryin to flash a completely new rom with chances of again ending up in a bootloop?

There is a guide called.. "Flashing roms with SON " by asskickar in sensation general section...
Using that you can flash any ics/jb custom roms... Without any bootloops or rather without any issues what so ever... The only requirement is You just need to follow that guide to the letter.. That's all

Hi,
Follow THIS GUIDE to the letter.
But let your phone charge up first.

Yes that might be the case.. If you check the guide I linked initially... Step #2 explains flashing 4EXT.. Even from fastboot... Use that and flash 4EXT recovery
Edit: Btw I initially said to do only extra 1 step from the guide right? Why are you going through entire process again?

ok ok. sorry for all the screw ups.Im letting the cell charge up for now. I should just follow the guide and install the recovery and flash the rom using the extra 1 step right? Just confirming.
Thanks again for replying so promptly, hope you keep helping me. Just let me know that my cell is not bricked.

Hi,
That is correct.
Follow to the letter, and you will not brick.
Bttery is gone
i think my battery has gone flat...but i kept it on charging for more than 3 hours,it hasnt even warmed up a single bit. I cant get the phone to start. Please suggest some methods
Also when i tried connecting the phone to my pc, nothing happened. While the wire was stil connected to the pc, i pressed the power button and the red led flashed reglar at one sec intervals about 10 times and then one long continuous flash and then it went off. Also that was the time when i heard the notification sound in the pc of a device getting detected.
What to do now?
Do you have a replacement battery to use while this one charges? Maybe that will help.
