I just found this Soundify app on the market.. I guess by the same people who did the one for making Transformer noises when you attach/detach the dock?? Anyways, it does that and more, letting you configure noises for tons of notifications, from Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers, etc or add your own sounds. Not free but worth the money for me!
What about me?
Hey, you found my new app shamwhich! Thanks for the shout out.
It's true that it is not free (even for Optimus himself). I have to provide some cover for spending so much time on the computer away from my day job with my wife and the promise of additional income gives me some leeway.
Do you or anyone else have any ideas for new features I should add?
Right now it supports:
* Tying sounds to a number of notifications, including:
** low battery
** screen on/off
** keyboard connect/disconnect
** keyboard slide in/out
** device unlock
** Power on/off
** Charge connect/disconnect
** camera button pressed
** media button pressed
** headphone connect/disconnect
** and some other (to me) less useful ones
* Individual volume override for each notification sound, or allow system volume to control it.
* ability to set your own sound file!
* As Shamwhich said, sounds from:
** transformers
** star trek
** star wars
** harry potter
* Notification of running service can be hidden.
hmmm
how about sounds from comic movies. Batman, Wolverine, stuff like that? Or battlestar galactica?
Also, it would be cool if, instead of changing the volume of everything for the duration of the sound to the configured value, it muted everything else for the duration, and just played the notification sound at the desired level. A minor thing I noticed, but if it is easy to fix would be nice to have.
yeah, that all sounds reasonable/doable.

one thing i love about iOS (dont hate) is that whether you are playing a game, listening to music, or your phone is ringing, the volume for all of these is the same. This is so useful because you know that if you sneakily open a game in lessons etc you know if the volume is going to be loud, or if you want to watch a video you can tell if its going to shout at you before you play.
I find it extremely frustrating when i load up angry birds for example and press the lower volume rocker and all it does is lower my ring volume if the game has not fully loaded yet, meaning i then have to do it again with my media volume once the game (or whatever) has loaded up.
I am wondering if there is an app that will allow me to set a universal volume controlled by the volume rocker? and that will change both media and ring volume (and any other type of volume) just by chaning the volume rocker. Does anyone know any apps?
I am not sure if this is the right section for it to go in, if not please could a mod move it. Many thanks
Exist?
so does an app even exist for this. BTW i am using a desire HD non-rooted
Audio Manager. Add a widget to your homescreen, and control the Media volume when you want to.
Thanks. Audio manager is great for checking what the level is which I'd really useful do I know if I open a game etc I know what the volume will be. But does anyone actually know if there is a way to have all the different volumes levels controlled by the volume rocker?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Did you find any way of doing this easily? I have the same problem and I can't believe it's a hell of a lot more of a common issue tbh.
Just a quick update for anyone searching - I found an app called 'Master Volume' which has worked for me.
It doesn't offer anything in terms of exceptions or individual control I don't think, but importantly it DOES link the volume controls together and links them at the same time to the rocker switch on the phone.
So you install it, then I opened the all and it says to just leave the service running in the background (so I set my task killer app to ignore the process). That's it. It just seems to work no problem.
Result!

Hi Cret could you share the link to the app you mention?
I am aware that system volume is tied to media volume (which is stupid and can't be explained by any logic) so I'm using AudioGuru widget to set my audible selection (tick) sounds to the level that I like while keeping my media volume at different level.
Now, everytime I use navigation (google) or phone, system volume seems to re-set itself again. Anyone else is annoyed with that or am I just being picky?
BTW, since I'm going to be using CM as soon as it comes out, I opened a new enhancement request on CM tracker regarding broken system volume issue (i.e. it does not stay at pre-set levels but rather follows media volume which is really annoying)
Please star it so we can get some resolution (hopefully in the form of separate slider in settings) and it trickles down to other roms.
You can vote on it HERE
Thank you in advance.
I am looking to customize a tablet for a very specific purpose.
This might not be the place to post this project but I don't know where else to start. If this is not the place can someone here guide me to where I should post this?
I want to do something for my Dad. He is elderly and has a type of dementia that robs him of his short term memory. He has the weakness that comes with age but fortunately his eyesight with glasses and hearing are still good. He likes music (mostly big band from the mid to late 30's) so I want to put together a music system for him that is straight forward and does not require him to remember anything about how to use it. We have not been successful with radios, cd players and such because of small buttons and controls and his memory problem. He always has to end up asking someone to get the device to work or he figures it is broken so he tries to fix it. What I really want to do here is give back my Dad some sense of independence as his frailties has taken so much of that away. My current thinking is some sort of Tablet tied to a stereo amplifier and speakers. Everything would be controlled by the tablet with on screen prompts to guide him every step of the way. The tablet cannot have the cluttered menu system they normally come with. It has to be modified to have very limited functionality.
Tablet requirements:
* Turn the tablet and stereo system on and off with the same button.
* When it all turns on go right into playing music.
* When it turns on the volume is set to a preset level so we can make sure it does not initially come on to loud.
* A way for him to adjust the volume.
* A way for him to set a multi-band equalizer to his liking while the music is playing.
* Default random music shuffle mode from all the music loaded not just per album.
* Alternately a way to pick the song he wants to play.
* Larger font/type for older eyes if he does not want to wear his glasses.
* A way for me to load his music and update the software but setup so as not to be accidentally stumbled into.
* Don't think we want something that has to be charged as he would get frustrated if it stopped working. Maybe just a wall wart type power all the time.
* Hard wired to stereo.
* Mounted on swing out arm to wall so it can be stored out of the way but is supported and does not have to be held and can't be dropped. (This and the stereo and speakers I can take care of.)
Possible but not necessary at this time:
* The music player could also show information about the current playing song.
* A picture mode he can look at his own photos while music plays.
* Auto shut off at night or sleep timer button.
We would prefer a tablet that is popular to insure support from original manufacture as well as large modding community such as yours.
I have an electronics background and have done some limited programming so I fully intend to help in any way I can.
Quick question
So now you all have had time to digest my project. Let me ask a basic question. Can a tablet without too much trouble have a custom menu that it boots up into whenever it's turned on?
Yes, for an example through a custom launcher.
Maybe even just an app that starts on boot.
The question is not how much trouble, but how much work.
It most likely isn't that difficult, but probably is a lot of work.
Tablet suggestion?
Thanks for that. I found out that dedicated menu thing is referred to as "kiosk" mode.
So my next question is what tablet would be ideal for this project? I am thinking something that has been produced in large numbers and is popular with the modding community. Any suggestions?
Hi!
So I made this app: MorseLight - Survival flashlight: SOS & Morse code
It's a survival flashlight that can transmit the SOS distress signal, Morse code messages and your GPS coordinates through light, sound... And it also has a strobe light.

All feedback is welcome!
Would prefer a more material design, lost my hearing now as had headphones in when testing. Those beeps are extremely high pitched.
Good overall functions.. Thanks for the work you put in.
Hi tiboric, thanks for your feedback.
I'm sorry to hear that. It's true the default pitch is quite annoying. This is because according to my research a sound frequency ranging in the 3Khz is most audible to human ears, and the main purpose of this all is to make sure the SOS distress signal is heard as much as possible.
You can disable sound anytime by tapping on the (S)ound button by the top. Also you can change the default frequency in settings screen, to which you can get to by tapping on the gear button located between the LSV buttons and the flashlight button, or by using your device menu button.
Again sorry about the incident and I'll include a warning regarding this specifically.
As for material design, as of now I ignore this technology but I will consider implementing it once I have studied it. It looks like it might entail a major rewrite of the UI so this would come rather later than soon.
Thanks again and I hope you can put it to good use!

1. Very good selection of sounds! One of the best available on Google Play. Congratulations!
2. Some sounds are stopping while looping (maybe a better cache of the sounds?)
3. I miss a volume control on the screen.
4. I also miss the ability of using night images (dark) or even no image at all (battery friendly)

The loop is not perfect. The music stops for 1 second and then restart, but it's noticeable that it's not continuous.

Some similar apps show a slider on the screen where you can control the volume instead of using the physical buttons.

The images have bright colours and if you take the phone at night to adjust or change the music, the light could be intense. A dark background (that is also present in other similar apps) will just show the controls and info, without the intense light (even for some seconds).

Thank you so much. I'll update it immediately. Thank again
Update
1. Fix issue: have a gap between loop sounds
2. Leak memory
