System/media volume - HTC Sensation

I am aware that system volume is tied to media volume (which is stupid and can't be explained by any logic) so I'm using AudioGuru widget to set my audible selection (tick) sounds to the level that I like while keeping my media volume at different level.
Now, everytime I use navigation (google) or phone, system volume seems to re-set itself again. Anyone else is annoyed with that or am I just being picky?
BTW, since I'm going to be using CM as soon as it comes out, I opened a new enhancement request on CM tracker regarding broken system volume issue (i.e. it does not stay at pre-set levels but rather follows media volume which is really annoying)
Please star it so we can get some resolution (hopefully in the form of separate slider in settings) and it trickles down to other roms.
You can vote on it HERE
Thank you in advance.

Universal volume controls?

one thing i love about iOS (dont hate) is that whether you are playing a game, listening to music, or your phone is ringing, the volume for all of these is the same. This is so useful because you know that if you sneakily open a game in lessons etc you know if the volume is going to be loud, or if you want to watch a video you can tell if its going to shout at you before you play.
I find it extremely frustrating when i load up angry birds for example and press the lower volume rocker and all it does is lower my ring volume if the game has not fully loaded yet, meaning i then have to do it again with my media volume once the game (or whatever) has loaded up.
I am wondering if there is an app that will allow me to set a universal volume controlled by the volume rocker? and that will change both media and ring volume (and any other type of volume) just by chaning the volume rocker. Does anyone know any apps?
I am not sure if this is the right section for it to go in, if not please could a mod move it. Many thanks
Exist?
so does an app even exist for this. BTW i am using a desire HD non-rooted
Audio Manager. Add a widget to your homescreen, and control the Media volume when you want to.
Thanks. Audio manager is great for checking what the level is which I'd really useful do I know if I open a game etc I know what the volume will be. But does anyone actually know if there is a way to have all the different volumes levels controlled by the volume rocker?

Did you find any way of doing this easily? I have the same problem and I can't believe it's a hell of a lot more of a common issue tbh.
Just a quick update for anyone searching - I found an app called 'Master Volume' which has worked for me.
It doesn't offer anything in terms of exceptions or individual control I don't think, but importantly it DOES link the volume controls together and links them at the same time to the rocker switch on the phone.
So you install it, then I opened the all and it says to just leave the service running in the background (so I set my task killer app to ignore the process). That's it. It just seems to work no problem.
Result!

Hi Cret could you share the link to the app you mention?

[Q] Adding More Volume Levels

By now, there MUST be a way... I have searched and searched, ultimately concluding that either it isn't possible or hasn't been shared, so here goes:
I want to see if it is possible to make all volume controls in Android have about 20-30 levels. There simply has to be a way. Anyone keen enough to see if there may be a way to change the volume -/+ levels?
Sorry, I am not interested in any other apps nor having to open up a volume slider to get better control: The hardware buttons are there for a reason.
Google: 7 volume levels is simply retarded. When devices are now being used to listen to music, watch movies, YouTube, Netflix, etc. how can you suppose that only 7 levels of volume would do the trick?
Found one!
OK - So I found a variable in the build.prop file called
ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps
which allows you to change the number of steps for the in-call volume slider. Now all I need to do is test out a bunch of other possible variations to see if I can achieve the same effect with the rest of the sliders. By default, my OG Droid is set to 7. I upped it to 20 and am amazed at the amount of control I have over the in-call volume at this point. I think, if I can, I will do this with all of the volume sliders!
I will keep you all updated if I find anything.

This sounds (no pun intended) interesting, by any chance is the in call volume louder? I would love to get my ear to hurt when on the phone. Then as least I can back down the volume. Right now I strain to here on my HTC DZ aka HTC Vision.
Not sure...

I will have to test that. I am not sure whether or not this actually makes anything louder. I'll let you know in a day or so after I bounce the settings back and forth a couple times.

All sound controlled at once rather than seperately?

As my title suggested. Has anyone seen an app or anything for that matter, that allows you to control all of the volume controls at once. For instance, if I use the volume buttons on my phone it only adjusts the "incoming call volume" but does nothing for the Media, system or notification volume. right now I have to go into settings then sound and adjust the volume on each seperate item rather in a single mass. Unlike every other phone I have owned the Epic 4G seems to lack the option to allow for all volumes to be controlled at once.
I apologize if I am double posting but along with syncing outlook with my Epic the singular volume control seems to be necessity and I do not understand why Samsung (or sprint for that matter) would not offer the option to control all of the seperate volume controls at one time rather than seperately. I sure would appreciate it if there is a droid app or mod that someone can point me to. I am new to the android thing, have been using winmo for years and so far I am dissapointed because it appears android wants me to not be able to do what I consider basic things (i.e. sync via USB with Outlook or controlling all volume levels via one control). Any help would be so awesome, I do not want to return this phone but if I cannnot get these things I may have to go back to winmo. Even though winmo 7 is not backwwards compatable at least it gives me the two basics I listed here...thanks a ton ya'll

Symphony of Eternity -- Volume Bug

When i try to change the volume when I am playing this game it doesn't just change the media volume. If I try to turn up the volume while my phone is in vibrate mode, it will switch my phone into silent and into the loud volume (just as if I were at the homescreen trying to change the volume). Once it turns to the loud volume, THEN it will start adjusting the media volume instead of my phone's volume.
So basically, I can't change the volume within the app unless my phone is in silent / vibrate. It will change those settings to take it out of silent / vibrate before adjusting media volume.
Anyone know a fix for this, or is anyone else seeing the same problem?
Edit: The developers have just emailed me back and here is what they said --
Dear Anthony,
I'm sorry but the current function about the sound, in app volume and device's media volume is not co-working, is specification needed in some devices. Thus we can't remove it now. It is still possible that we'll change the function in the future, but we can't guarantee it. Anyway thanks for indicating the point of improvement. I hope you'll contact us again if there're any good ideas or issues.
Sincerely,

Well let's hope that they decide to fix it soon then!

[Q] Changing the default volume-control the volumebuttons control

Hello.
I was wondering if theres any way to change the default volume-control which the volume-buttons control?
Currently, and on all ROMs Ive tried, the default volume is set to Ringtone.
What that means is, if no sound is playing (like, you idle on the homescreen or whatever), pressing the volumebuttons changes the ringtone volume.
I always manage to press the volumbuttons by accident, changing the ringtone volume...
I thought it was just a matter of getting used to the rather sensitive buttons, but lately its started to become an issue.
Ive missed several calls because Ive managed to reduce the ringtone volume without noticing.
So, what I want is a way to change this default behavior to instead of changing the ringtone volume - change the media volume.
I personally have no reason to change the ringtone volume "quickly", and would much rather be able to quickly change the media volume - even if no media is playing.
I hope you understand what I mean, kinda hard to explain
My current ROM is DarkJelly CM10 Build 24 with stock CM10 kernel, and Id prefer not to move away from it - I like it
