You can have stock SPL and keep S-OFF. Security off doesn't mean you have tampered with the software and they could not void your warranty because of this. The old updates did not have S-ON; they had S-OFF and most employees of cell phone providers don't even know what this means or what an SPL is.
Extract the rom.zip file from the RUU and rename the file to SAPPIMG.zip. Put the file on an SD card and boot to HBOOT. Should be able to update. There are some tutorials on the forum.
but it doesnt update. hboot doesnt search file called update

SAPPIMG.zip
Sorry, lol.
If anything, you could just flash a custom BOOT if you can like Amon's and try to flash a custom ROM -- but if you still want S-ON then HBOOT is the way to go if you can not start your phone.
yeah, so i have wrong file. now searching how to extract. really thanks for advices

Don't have the wrong file, just take the same rom.zip file and rename to SAPPIMG.zip.
i dont have an original rozm.zip, extracted file. i took zip with hboot, boot and radio.

Get one by downloading an RUU you want; download an RUU, when setup is running, dig through some folders to get the rom.zip and copy that to your desktop and use that .zip to update your phone.
Ive done this, but hboot doesnt want to update
Can anyone help me, returning to s-off?
It's a stupid guide for noob as me...
I've spent much time reading these pages to find what i need to revert and use OTA update.
To revert stock rom, following this simple step:
1) download the ruu of your htc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24886181#post24886181
2) run the ruu and waiting it finish
note:
if you previously don't change anything on system partition (for example you don't cancel any application in system\data whit root privileges) you can run the execute the .exe file and wait it finish.
Otherwise you must flash from recovery a stock nand backup ((for example, if you have the 153.x.x... you can download from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24886181&postcount=18the cmw stock backup) to comeback to the originary size partition and run RUU
I'm sorry for my poor english but I hope it is clear and hope this post has not violated terms of section...
Moved To General
Thanks for the post, but this is best off in the general section, as its not really development.
I downloaded the 1.53 RUU and it just wouldnt work for me. I also flashed the image you provided. Coming from Virtuous. Really odd.....

at the end i had got a old nand backup of untouched rom stock and after this restore and reflashed original recovery (but i think it isn't really necessary), the execution of ruu finished without problems.
I think it gets error if we have supersu too, because it modifies the file system space..
I tried that as well and the ruu refused to work. I am re downloading the ruu to aee what happens.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
The ruu you had downloaded is correct to me.. try to verify if your CID is present in android.txt (you must enter in temporary directory where ruu put his files, open rom.zip and verify is your CID is present..). Try this, in case you can add it.
i'm sorry for my poor english... i hope it's clear ;-)

i need serious help!
i try evertything...i try to flash stock cmw flashable rom, flash the original recovery and try ruu....nothing....the best i can get it's after sending the update say sometingh like "invalid id client"....
i search CID and is VODAP102...someone can help me to restore to stock????? PLEASE!!!
and many thanks
You try to flash wrong version of RUU. I don't know if it's the case here, I do not own the device (yet )but I had a similar problem with my old incredible s. As it turned out RUU didn't match my MODEL-ID. Every htc-device has its model-id, but for some reason there is always released a batch with different model-id (So it was with Incredible S provided by Bell Canada. While almost the whole world enjoyed PG3213000, phones from Bell had model ID- PG3212000, and they needed their own special RUU.)
I'm from Europe but used XTC-clip to unlock bootloader and during this procedure I accidentally changed model-id from PG3213000 too PG3212000. That's why I was unable to flash any WWE RUU ( error [130] model ID error). Once I re-changed model-id (with the same xtc clip) my all problems were gone.
Everything that I need now is RUU 1.78.401.2.

you can try to add manually your CID in android.txt file inside rom.zip (in ruu temporary directory)
In ruu it didn't work, i tried it.
i hear voices in my head
Hello, i downloaded htc radar (omega) shipped rom, but it is in .NBH format and no RUU. how can i install this rom?
extract attached file.....copy the .nbh to the extracted folder run ROMUPDATEUTILITY.exe
Thank you!
Just for to be sure - should i have a SPL of 4.0+ to do this, according to this post
which phone do you use? that post was for herald users....
HTC Radar C110e
so that topic (for herald) doesnt bother me?
if you are already on a stock rom and flashing another stock rom just enter in bootloader and run the RomUpdateUtility
im on a custom rom and want stock rom. so first i will remove hspl, then i will run RomUpdateUtility with stock rom from bootloader?
You don't have to remove HSPL once you flash a stock rom over HSPL...its automatically gone
Good luck

File_Submit,
May I ask where you downloaded the HTC Radar 4G (Omega) .nbh from?
I have been trying for weeks to download the same .nbh uploaded to Filefactory by Football in the Radar forum (see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334463) but the download never finishes.
It may something to do with Filefactory access here in the US. Just guessing.
Is there another website where the Omega .nbh for US TMo is available?
Thanks.

No it's not, that is for the sensation! The One S is PJ40IMG but won't work anyway.
Hello,
I apologize if this has been posted somewhere else. This is what I did. I have a Verizon HTC One M8 that I S-OFFed with Sunshine. I then flashed a stock HBOOT from a OTA. The flash appeared to be successful. I then ran fastboot reboot-bootloader. The screen went black, and the computer recognized my phone as probably 20 different drives. One it recognized as a formatted one, the others it wanted to format (this is Windows by the way). I'm assuming I need to do JTAG, but I wouldn't begin to know where to start. Bottom line, HELP!!!
Thanks in advance, Josh.

Does holding power + volume up do anything?
What hboot did you flash? Are you sure it was for this version m8?

Volume Up + Power does not do anything. I flashed an HBOOT from a Firmware file from an OTA I downloaded off the internet. The file I downloaded is named vzw_m8_ota_605.2.zip. Within the zip is a folder named 1.54.401.5 TO 1.55.605.2. Within that folder is another file named OTAPkg.zip. Within that zip is the contents of data, META-INF, patch, system, firmware.zip, fotaBoot, and skin_fota. Within the firmware.zip is the hboot_signedbyaa.img that I compiled with android-info.txt (also in the firmware.zip) into a no compression zip which I flashed with fastboot flash zip hboot.zip.
I downloaded it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722817.
Any ideas?

Afraid this is going to be the same as your m7. Not sure the unbricking folks have made good progress on this phone.
There's no chance that if you connect it to a Windows pc you get fastboot commands right? I had a user already with black screen but the phone was in ruu mode and allowed fastboot commands.

Seek out the HTC unbrick folks if you are still able to see drives in Linux.
I mean no disrespect by this but since this is your second bricked HTC device please ask for help next time before getting to this point?
What were you flashing just an hboot for?

I was thinking about flashing the firewater S-OFF HBOOT version, but wanted to double check that I had an original HTC HBOOT which I had extracted from the OTA I downloaded. I didn't think that flashing a stock HBOOT would usually brick a device?
Back to the the HTC unbrick folks... who are they and where can I find them?
Thanks again dottat.
