How so you get back stock.... - T-Mobile LG G2x

I am trying to get back to stock froyo and stock baseband. Does anyone know where I can find the information and software to restore back to factory froyo and original baseband?

I don't think it restores the baseband though.

so, you have the new baseband, but not the recent gb update?

I think he means the stock kernel? Watch the video and yes your kernel goes to stock.

I did the update from the LG updater but didn't like it. I just wanted to go back to Froyo with the old baseband so I can get the OTA update. I know the updates were the same, it is just person preference.

nvm...............

back to stock
yes i would also like to get rid of my garbage xboarders rooted LG ota 2.3.3 rom and start with a clean slate. i want to run the update either OTA or direct from LG updater, but I can't with the July 15 baseband. i'm having a lot of problems - i have to reboot phone to switch from wifi to data or vice-versa, echo sound through headphones, DTS makes music sound distorted and echo-ie, GPS takes FOREVER to lock on location (i even tried doing the hidden menu fixes), and a lot of times when I turn my phone it won't find a signal so i have to reboot (and i live in downtown portland, or), and tons of apps are just showing white boxes for icons, the whole thing is laggy as hell, etc. etc etc.. ever since i've had new baseband i've had tons of problems, regardless of what ROM i have installed. i've tried different kernels too.. so must be baseband right? i hope someone can help us out soon!

Baseband and CM7

I just wanted to let everyone that with the new baseband from the update I am getting Instant locks with my GPS almost everytime even with cold start. Before it would take between 5, 15, 30 or never lock.
I flashed CM7 and I am still getting Instant locks.
Very impressed with this new baseband
Just wanted to let those of you that are having inconsistencies with the gps know that this baseband seems to turn the gps into a reliable one.
Steps I took:
-Updated through lg updater (This will give you the newest baseband)
-flash CM7 (even after flashing you'll keep your baseband)
Enjoy instant locks gps

Did you flash stock rom and recovery then unroot before you ran the update?
Or did you just flash stock rom recovery and run the update?

The update still when through just fine.

The LG flasher app just reads your current build number against the one its trying to update.
All you need is the stock rom in some form or another. Root status is void.
The update just has to be newer then what you have currently for it to pass the checks.

I can confirm this fixed my gps locks on cm7 too. Almost instant and very accurate even when inside. About five feet off. I can live with that.
I restored stock rom , ran lg update, reflashed cmw , then restored cm7.

OTA update.zip will provide the baseband update, no?

I'm a bit confused. Most of us who are rooted are using NVflash to revert to stock recovery, then using LG's method to upgrade to GB for the baseband, only to nandroid back to our rooted rom of choice.
Since the OTA is being sent out, can't we just use the captured OTA zip file to update our baseband without having to mess with the LG software? I run win 7 64bit and the LG software has never worked right for me.
Is the newest OTA not rootable through superoneclick or is something else keeping us from updating the baseband that way?
I'm curious about this too. If an OTA update can update the baseband, I would think CWM would be able to...
Does Tegra2 have a "deeper recovery" mode, like fastboot/hboot on the G1/Magic?
Basebands are not included with roms in the dev section.
You must return to stock, do the LG upgrade/OTA upgrade, reinstall NVflash and install a rooted rom.
I wish they would release the old and new basebands in a zip, but no one has. Some guy known as "the dude" said he would but he never came back.
Possibly a dumb question but... does the new baseband bring any improvement that's worth the hassle (back to stock, etc)?

My experience has been much faster GPS lock and slightly faster download speeds. That is all I have noticed. Signal strength seems about the same.

Same for me... Plus, i was running the OTA GB release with the old baseband for awhile before i updated the baseband. I'm getting better battery life on the new baseband now.
Speedtest set a new record last night: 8.51mbps down.

G2X and July Baseband

I have a G2x and my Baseband is Mar27 2011 I have read on here that the July15 2011 baseband might clear up issues and make the phone work better is this true?
I am also rooted on a 3.3.4 ROM if I updated the baseband can I reroot my G2X?
As far as I know, nobody has uploaded the july baseband. I think the only way to update it would be through the lg tool or ota.
I don't know about one-click rooting, but if you get the baseband through the official update, you can always just flash prerooted gingerbread.
Sorry I wasn't very clear I was talking about going back to stock and then using the lg tool and update to stock 2.3.3 that has the July Baseband. I want to make sure I can reroot back to other roms after I do this and if anyone has done this knows if the July Baseband is better than the March one?
1. 2.3.3
2. Yes, you can reFLASH other roms after updating to the new baseband, and root them.
3. For some, the new baseband has fixed gps issues. Others seem to be having issues with the data signal.
yeah buddy!
i just reverted to stock using the later NAND backup, V21E.zip , then the LG upgrade tool recognized and flashed without errors, tho before I restored to stock it was giving me some errors in very poor english.
Revert to stock -> LG Update -> NVFlash CWM -> CM Nightly = GPS works! FINALLY! I haven't been able to use my GPS on pretty much any rom til this point.
I definitely vote for the go ahead, the new baseband makes a difference for sure!
Fixed thanks and great info so far kiddecks have you noticed any issues with your data signal? the gps is not a feature I will be using a lot my main focus is on reception and data.

Don't forget to remove CWM as part of reverting to stock. You don't want to give the lg tool any chance to brick your phone like its doing for some people.
Thanks for that I will make sure to remember did you update your Baseband heysharon?
Not yet, the ota is either being dodgy or slow to come by, and I can't get the lg tool to install on my computer. Until the ota arrives for my phone, I'm hoping for the off chance that someone will upload the new baseband.
ok thanks for all your help from the sounds of it you also want to try out the new Baseband
Was wondering if anyone was still working on making
a zip file of the July baseband? I'm sure it would be much
Appreciated by many here. Thanks

Do mean clockworkmod recovery? If you want to flash back to stock recovery you can use the one click nvflash tool from the development section. When you're at the step where you choose which version of recovery to flash just choose stock.

Just got a message for software update on my Infuse

Hi,
I just received a message to my Infuse about a software update.
This the first message like this that I have seen.
I'm running Bionix so I chose to postpone the upgrade for now.
1. Is this the AT&T Gingerbread upgrade? Has anyone else received this message?
2. I need to go back to the stock ROM in order to install this update?
Thx.

Is this the UCKI3 that came with the leaked GB? If so, has anyone noticed an improvement in this modem vs. the leaked one? It seems like results were mixed...some loved it, some hated it.
So I would NOT have to go back to a stock rom before downloading this update? I've been postponing it for a couple times now.

Yes you would. If you want to get the only known improvement of this update, the UCKH1 modem firmware is separately downloadable somewhere and modem.bin can be flashed via cwm.

It is no longer allowing me to postpone the update and telling me I have to update now...is there a way to get rid of this update? Really don't feel like going back to stock.
EDIT: Well...I was in the middle of texting and that message was constantly popping up...now its updating because I hit it by accident.
Rebooted and said the update was not completed, no update was applied to your phone. Update icon still sits in my tray.

[GUIDE] How to get v21y over the air on G2x

UPDATE 6-15-2012: i just wanted to update the beginning of this post to make it a little clearer, the original text is below
to get the v21y base band on your phone over the air, you have to go back to stock
to do this you need a stock rom, either your own backup or the one from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644 (the first and second link is a stock 2.3.3 nandroid which is a zip you extract on your pc and run flash.bat from inside that folder)
if you need the drivers, download the third link.
follow the steps in that thread, it works
if you have your own stock nandroid, just boot into ClockworkMod Recovery and restore it (after you backup whats on your phone now)
then reboot your phone
after restoring either your stock nandroid or the one from the post above, shut your phone off and remove the battery and use NVFlash to restore the stock recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
reboot your phone
now that you have your phone like it was from the beginning you can go to System Settings/About Phone and click on Software Update. this should pull down the updated Gingerbread version 2.3.4 and the new baseband v21y. IT WILL OVERWRITE YOUR PHONE AND WILL BE PLAIN STOCK
it takes a few minutes so be patient
once it is done and it rebooted your phone you will have to put ClockworkMod Recovery back on it using NVFlash. then you can flash other roms to your phone
please keep in mind that there is a bluetooth issue with both GB and ICS roms on this baseband and that only a few roms actually support v21y. Owain has written an update file that you flash to get support on any rom with v21y, supposedly it does work on any rom (GB or ICS) but i have not tested it, so read up and test if you want.
as of CM7 RC3 all CM7 builds support v21y
please thank the owners of the threads linked above, their methods worked flawlessly for me and i hope they work for you as well. this was a very easy way for me to get the new baseband. good luck!
original post------------------------------------------------------------------------
i was having a heck of a time trying to get the new baseband installed on my phone. i had all the stuff downloaded and all the instructions ready, had the KDZ file, the LG tool, everything...but i could not get anything to work
so what did work?
well using CWM Recovery i restored my stock backup i had made when i first got the phone (best to save this off the phone as well in a safe place) and then using NVFlash i put the stock recovery back on it
once that was done and i was booted back into stock you can go into the About Phone and choose Software Update (or whatever its called) and check for an update. it found one and proceeded to download a 30meg file. asked if i wanted to apply the update, installed it, and rebooted into a nice shiny new 2.3.4 GB setup with v21y and the new baseband installed!
the CM7 nightly build (June 3) is working great. getting ready to try a couple of others (Buru, EB, Genesis (although i was having a problem there, see that thread))
so its only been one day on it but so far calls are good, gps lock is fast, overall loving my phone even more than before!!
Great that the OTA worked for you, I left my phone stock the whole week it was mentioned about sending it and I checked the software update and it always told me the software update check failed/timed out lol
Sent from my LG-P999
I am extremely pleased with the update.
I had been running a rooted stock ROM + CWM Recovery. I had been dismissing the update notice for weeks now. Finally, earlier this week I flashed back the stock recovery and let the OTA proceed.
Current uptime: 67:59:06
I haven't gone a full day without either a random reboot or a sleep of death in a LONG time.
Did mine the other way not over the air. Then did the sound update. Also running CM7 and all has been fine.

A little clarification, if I may...
Could I just flash the stock 2.3.3 nandroid from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274 to bring myself back to "stock" then, using NVFlash that's already on my computer from when I first rooted my phone, flash it back to stock recovery? After that, try the OTA to get myself to 2.3.4 or, if that doesn't work, use the LG Updater tool? Then just root my phone again and go back to enjoying custom ROMs?
Seems like it would be easier and one step less if I get the nandroid from that thread rather than following the link in the OP and having to extract something on my computer.

there is a bluetooth issue with all roms and the new BB so if you use BT you might want to stick with the stock 2.3.4 that you will get with the upgrade. lots of devs are working on that issue so hopefully it wont be long
suggestions?
I followed the instructions in the first post, and now am back on the stock rom (21e, july 15 2011). However, when I go to try the software update, I get the following message: "current version is the latest version." Is there another way to get the new 21y baseband?
